Connection refused in Linux
hi,
i have some questions here. Hope you can help me..
first, i run my server on local host in Linux. Then i run my client on local host too so that it connects to server : Socket socket = new Socket(InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostAddress(), port); But exception occurs:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused

at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:402)
at java.net.Socket.<init>(Socket.java:309)
at java.net.Socket.<init>(Socket.java:124)Why this will happen? Can you explain what is this problem? But when i run the same things in Windows, it run properly and successfully without any exception. Why?
I really need your help..it's urgent for me..i appreciate your kindness..thanks..
What port are you using? Typically only root can run servers below 1024.

Also check your firewall settings. I also could not get localhost to work, I had to use the actual IP address of the machine, ie not 127.0.0.1. Use telnet hostip 5432 to check if you can get a connection. For my situation once telnet would connect, then JDBC started working too. Then localhost started working too. -
Connection Refused when starting node manager on Linux
Hi,
I'm using Weblogic 6.1 SP 2 on Redhat Linux 7.1 with Sun JDK 1.3.1. When I'm running
the Node Manager on one machine and try to connect to it from another machine (Admin
Server) I'm getting the following message:
<May 28, 2002 6:35:59 PM IDT> <Error> <NodeManager> <Could not start server 'EnvelopeManagedBackup'
via Node Manager - reason: '[SecureCommandInvoker: Could not create a socket to the
NodeManager running on host 'jarjar:5555' to execute command 'online null', reason:
Connection refused: connect. Ensure that the NodeManager on host 'jarjar' is configured
to listen on port '5555' and that it is actively listening]'>
The Node Manager is listening on the server's listen address (jarjar) and on the
correct port (5555). When running netstat -a | grep 5555 on the server I get the
following (jarjar is the computer name):
tcp 0 0 jarjar:5555 *:* LISTEN
The admin server is registered in the nodemanager.hosts file.
Can anyone help me on this?....I happened to get "execute command 'online null'" because of a missing
"Listen Address" and/or "Listen Port" entry in the "Remote Start" tab of the
Administration Server.
Node Manager passes on such values when starting up a managed server - if
either is blank, the managed server can not identify the Admin Server to
register to...

Connection refused to host 127.0.0.1 (Lookup windows -- Linux)
Hi Folks,
Buddies I am facing a problem. My server is running at specified port on a linux machine but when I try to connect it from a windows machine i got error massage "Connection refused to host 127.0.0.1 " but it's very inscrutable message.
I made some changes in /etc/hosts file and /etc/xinetd.d/services and everything worked fine.
But now there is a question come in my mind that , Is there any alternative so we don't need to make any change in above mentioned two files.
My Changes;
/etc/host
I've added system ip and name in the first line.
/etc/xinetd.d/services
Modified services files and enabled protocol and permitted to all system who are under class three network.
Could anybody have a better idead to avoid these changes because of security issues?
--ManojHi,,,Thanks
When I refer to random it is when the pc in windows in his configuration of net it has " obtain ip automatic " when the ip are fixed in the configuration of net I do not have problems of (connection refused to host:name_machine) what I need is to know that I must do to solve the problem (connection refused to host:name_machine) when in the pc they have a configuration of net of obtaining ip automaticamennte,
I dont understand when you say that..."you should always set java.rmi.server.hostname at server JVMs to the FQDN of the host, not the IP address." Where I do this ??, where I put it??, I dont understand
you can help me to know if this could solve my problem when the ip is obtained automatically
this it is my code...

Really Thank you for the help that you can offer me -
All, Im stumped. In fact I have been on the phone with Apple Support and this has been escalated to the top engineers, as I think its got them too..
Anyway, here is my problem..
I'm running an Mac Mini with OS X 10.7.4 Server. I have had mail running on it for 2 months or so, without any issues. The mail was actually migrated from 10.6 in March, and It actually went smoothly. I have 3 domains which all recieve mail and they all work (or did up until 2 weeks ago)..
So the story is this.. I can send mail from my domains, without issue. imap and dovecot must be working.. cause all the stored mail, can be read with the mail IMAP client.. I can even transfer mail messages from one mailbox to another with Mail client. Sending mail is a breeze, it still works and the recipients still recieve their mail. But I noticed I wasnt getting any mail at all from those mailboxes... no mail, no spam, nothing.. which is unusal. I fired up Server admin and checked out the SMTP log, and this is what it showed for every email recieved: (xxxxxx is just me hiding sensitive info)

Ok, now what is odd, is these rejected messages are not even appearing in the mail queue in Server Admin. I have no idea why there are not being delivered
Ive checked my postfix main.cf file and master.cf files they both look ok.. Ive even replaced them with the main.cf.defualt.10.7 and master.cf.default.10.7 files and to no avail... same problem..
So in summary
I can send mail out
IMAP is working on the client end (thus dovecot is) exsisting stored emails can be accessed, read, moved unread etc..
mail is coming into the sever, but its being rejected. there is NO rejection email sent back to the sender.
mail is recieved by postfix, but cyrus isnt doing anything with it.. I have no idea where it goes...
Could anyone shed light on this...

# compatible delivery agent that lookups all recipients in /etc/passwd
# and /etc/aliases or their equivalent.
# The default is $myhostname + localhost.$mydomain. On a mail domain
# gateway, you should also include $mydomain.
# Do not specify the names of virtual domains - those domains are

# Do not specify the names of domains that this machine is backup MX

# The local_recipient_maps parameter specifies optional lookup tables
# with all names or addresses of users that are local with respect
# to $mydestination, $inet_interfaces or $proxy_interfaces.
# If this parameter is defined, then the SMTP server will reject
# mail for unknown local users. This parameter is defined by default.
# To turn off local recipient checking in the SMTP server, specify
# local_recipient_maps = (i.e. empty).
# The default setting assumes that you use the default Postfix local
# delivery agent for local delivery. You need to update the
# local_recipient_maps setting if:
# - You define $mydestination domain recipients in files other than
# /etc/passwd, /etc/aliases, or the $virtual_alias_maps files.
# For example, you define $mydestination domain recipients in
# the $virtual_mailbox_maps files.
# - You redefine the local delivery agent in master.cf.
# - You redefine the "local_transport" setting in main.cf.
# - You use the "luser_relay", "mailbox_transport", or "fallback_transport"
# feature of the Postfix local delivery agent (see local(8)).
# Details are described in the LOCAL_RECIPIENT_README file.
# Beware: if the Postfix SMTP server runs chrooted, you probably have
# to access the passwd file via the proxymap service, in order to
# overcome chroot restrictions. The alternative, having a copy of
# the system passwd file in the chroot jail is just not practical.
# The right-hand side of the lookup tables is conveniently ignored.

# TRUST AND RELAY CONTROL
# The mynetworks parameter specifies the list of "trusted" SMTP
# clients that have more privileges than "strangers".
# In particular, "trusted" SMTP clients are allowed to relay mail
# through Postfix. See the smtpd_recipient_restrictions parameter
# in postconf(5).
# You can specify the list of "trusted" network addresses by hand
# or you can let Postfix do it for you (which is the default).
# By default (mynetworks_style = subnet), Postfix "trusts" SMTP
# clients in the same IP subnetworks as the local machine.
# On Linux, this does works correctly only with interfaces specified
# with the "ifconfig" command.
# Specify "mynetworks_style = class" when Postfix should "trust" SMTP
# clients in the same IP class A/B/C networks as the local machine.
# Don't do this with a dialup site - it would cause Postfix to "trust"
# your entire provider's network. Instead, specify an explicit
# mynetworks list by hand, as described below.
# Specify "mynetworks_style = host" when Postfix should "trust"
# only the local machine.
#mynetworks_style = class
#mynetworks_style = subnet
#mynetworks_style = host
# Alternatively, you can specify the mynetworks list by hand, in
# which case Postfix ignores the mynetworks_style setting.
# Specify an explicit list of network/netmask patterns, where the
# mask specifies the number of bits in the network part of a host
# address.
# You can also specify the absolute pathname of a pattern file instead
# of listing the patterns here. Specify type:table for table-based lookups
# (the value on the table right-hand side is not used).
#mynetworks = 168.100.189.0/28, 127.0.0.0/8

# The relay_domains parameter restricts what destinations this system will
# relay mail to. See the smtpd_recipient_restrictions description in
# postconf(5) for detailed information.
# By default, Postfix relays mail
# - from "trusted" clients (IP address matches $mynetworks) to any destination,
# - from "untrusted" clients to destinations that match $relay_domains or
# subdomains thereof, except addresses with sender-specified routing.
# The default relay_domains value is $mydestination.
# In addition to the above, the Postfix SMTP server by default accepts mail
# that Postfix is final destination for:
# - destinations that match $inet_interfaces or $proxy_interfaces,
# - destinations that match $mydestination
# - destinations that match $virtual_alias_domains,
# - destinations that match $virtual_mailbox_domains.
# These destinations do not need to be listed in $relay_domains.
# Specify a list of hosts or domains, /file/name patterns or type:name
# lookup tables, separated by commas and/or whitespace. Continue
# long lines by starting the next line with whitespace. A file name
# is replaced by its contents; a type:name table is matched when a
# (parent) domain appears as lookup key.
# NOTE: Postfix will not automatically forward mail for domains that
# list this system as their primary or backup MX host. See the
# permit_mx_backup restriction description in postconf(5).

# INTERNET OR INTRANET
# The relayhost parameter specifies the default host to send mail to
# when no entry is matched in the optional transport(5) table. When
# no relayhost is given, mail is routed directly to the destination.
# On an intranet, specify the organizational domain name. If your
# internal DNS uses no MX records, specify the name of the intranet
# gateway host instead.
# In the case of SMTP, specify a domain, host, host:port, [host]:port,

# INPUT RATE CONTROL
# The in_flow_delay configuration parameter implements mail input
# flow control. This feature is turned on by default, although it
# still needs further development (it's disabled on SCO UNIX due
# to an SCO bug).
# A Postfix process will pause for $in_flow_delay seconds before
# accepting a new message, when the message arrival rate exceeds the
# message delivery rate. With the default 100 SMTP server process

# than the number of messages delivered per second.

# If you change the alias database, run "postalias /etc/aliases" (or

smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated permit_mynetworks check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access reject_non_fqdn_hostname reject_invalid_hostname permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions. You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up. Private/policy I think relates to grey listing. Maybe gives you a hint. -
SMD agent not starting correctly FAIL: NIECONN_REFUSED (Connection refused)
I am getting the following message when I start the agent. I don't see any errors except for this, and when I try to connect it in agent_adminstration, it never connects. Just eventually times out after 30 mins.
FAIL: NIECONN_REFUSED (Connection refused), NiRawConnect failed in plugin_fopen()

RMI Callback Connection Refused Problem
we are running Red Hat Linux 9, we previously had a problem connecting a server and client running in 2 different PC's. we had the following error
Exception in mainjava.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 127.0.0.1; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
we used the -Djava.rmi.server.hostname= <hostname> option to make it run. Now, were trying to make use of call backs this time we ran into another problem having the error:
Exception in mainjava.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 172.16.100.24; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
what are we doing wrong? We already included a security manager. but the error is still there.

Connection refused by host
One more query how to start xinetd in solaris10 and other solaris platform.I saw in nagios NRPE document it says to run "make install-xinetd" if it is there how to start it i think most probly xinet is not running

krDescribe your setup and what internet realated applications you've installed and i'm sure someone will be able to help you.
- How are you connecting - via a swtich, usb or ethernet modem somehow?
- What other apps are installed - any download managers or things that integrate with your web browser? -
Hi,
I've configured ogg between primary & DR server. I'm continuously getting the following error in my primary server for DP process & sometimes for EXTRACT process after which process goes in abended state.
WARNING OGG-01223 TCP/IP error 111 (Connection refused).
After starting the process manually, it comes in Running state. But this is frequent issue I'm facing for OGG configuration at my end.
Please find the parameter details & report log details as follows:

2015-03-19 17:02:58 ERROR OGG-01668 PROCESS ABENDING.
Please guide me on this.
Regards,
Simon P- check your remote host server is up and running.
- check mgr process is up and running on target site.
- try this and see if network connection is OK..
telnet 10.10.250.198 7809
- try to copy a file (scp) from source to target (take a dummy file; size bigger than tcpbufsize)
- check ggserr.log file on target; you might see if there are any issues with server/collector port allocation/timeout.
hope this helps...
Thanks. -
Connection Refused (Startup )
Hi Folks,
I am wondering solutions for the following issue:
I've a linux server and my server is also running on it i.e. x.x.x.x : 5678 (This computer is in WAN)
I am also to check it using telnet x.x.x.x 5678 but at the time when I want to connect it or want to get the stub it gives error Connection refused.
What could be issue?
Earliest suggestion is highly appreciated..
Regards,
ManojI am seeing the same error. Has anyone resolved this or got any suggestions. looks like it is a security policy issue !?
thanks
Anand

OVMAPI_6000E Internal Error: Connection refused Connection refused - OVM
Hi,
Test environment, as per this doc
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/template-1482544.html
Running the above OVMs on virtual box version 4.2.10
OVM is version 3.1.1.365
I setup my environment and was ready to import VM templates. Following a reboot of the server I can no longer login to the Manager.
Error is: Unexpected error during login (com.oracle.ovm.mgr.api.exception.FailedOperationException: OVMAPI_6000E Internal Error: Connection refused Connection refused
After some investigation in the App logs I found this error:

(-----------) - This is just a test environment, but I would really appreciate if someone could tell me why this error is occurring and how I can fix it, I've tried restarting services, still no joy. This issue seems to occur after I setup the server pool \ Storage resources, etc
Thanks for all your help! You need to learn how to start an oracle database. The database does not start automatically if you're using the database that comes with the VM Manager.
ps -ef | grep pmon
will tell you if the database is running and mounted.
ps -ef | grep tns
will tell you if the database listener is running
OR
You could use 3.2.2 and use the MYSQL database that come with the VM Manager
OR
you could load the enterprise version of Oracle Database and use cluster services to automatically start and stop the database. You get a single use license with the VM Manger that allows you either use standard of enterprise edition of the Oracle Database. -
ConnectException, connection refused
I have an RMI server/client Web applet program working, with the server running on a RHEL4 linux server, and other linux clients.
When I try to run the applet from a browser on a Windows client, I get a connection refused error. I am not setting a security manager,
and both boxes are using Java 1.6.07. The exception and its stack trace are as follows:

Any ideas?Never mind... had edited code and somehow had a Naming.lookup instead of using the object returned by LocateRegistry.getRegistry(URL).
I'm on to the debugging of the access denied issue now...
Sorry, I'm a newbie but I'm learning fast. -
TNS-12564: TNS:connection refused
Hi,
I have some PHP applications which connect to Oracle database.
I sometime receive the following error message.
Fatal NI connect error 12516, connecting to:

I already had that error message in the past. At that time, I looked at the V$RESOURCE_LIMIT view and I saw session and process parameters were too small so I increased its.
Now, I checked again to these parameters and values never went nearly the max values.

Is it possible it can from another thing ? What is the best way to never have this error message again ? What is max value for sessions and processes that Oracle can support ?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards. Why do I am having (HOST=178.32.113.43)(PORT=1521) in the error message? I am using only the DNS name.
my tnsnames.ora file:
NV =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dns_name)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = NV)
and in my php connection function I also use the DNS name as the host and username/password like:
$connect = ocilogon($username, $password, 'dns_name');
Should I connect in another way ? like:
$ora_host='(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS =(PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dns_name)(PORT = 1521))(CONNECT_DATA =(SID = NV)))';
$connect = ocilogon($username, $password, $ora_host); -

This has been bugging me for weeks.... I get this error only on some tables and not all of them so I am wondering if maybe it is a permissions grant thing. This web application I have allows a visitor to post information into the DB, this works fine, but the weird thing is that when they click to view the information they submitted only the information that is generated server side is displayed yet all the information the visitor submitted was entered into the table! Note that it has nothing to do with my web application I know this because as I said it works fine on some of the tables...

sqlplus user/[email protected]Posting the meaning of the error is always helpful;
12505, 00000, "TNS:listener could not resolve SID given in connect descriptor"
// *Cause: The SID in the CONNECT_DATA was not found in the listener's tables.
// *Action: Check to make sure that the SID specified is correct.
// The SIDs that are currently registered with the listener can be obtained by
// typing "LSNRCTL SERVICES <listener name>". These SIDs correspond to
// SID_NAMEs in TNSNAMES.ORA, or db_names in INIT.ORA.
// *Comment: This error will be returned if the database instance has not
// registered with the listener; the instance may need to be started.
And, a most peculiar hostname you have: 432.54.66.203.sfldmi01.ce.domain.net
I suggest you change that to sfldmi01.ce.domain.net, and also change the names.default domain in sqlnet.ora to ce.domain.net.
Also, check if your IP-address is indeed 203.432.54.66.
Then, change tnsnames.ora, and let your entries end with the same ce.domain.net, not the numeric notitation.
And you are not getting this on some tables, but on some connections, because you close and open your connecions - hence the use of MTS (which listens on address 203.432.54.66), probably. So you might readup on MTS, and make up your mind: now your using both MTS and dedicated (the latter configured in listener.ora, the former in the instance)
