My iBook app won't let me download books, it says that they are already downloaded but to also go to purchases, could someone help please?

I have recently got an iPad two and I love it, one problem however is that when I try to download books they don't appear on the bookshelf. When I go to purchases to download them, a message pops up that says I have already purchased this item, please go to purchases and select Download! If anyone could help that would be amazing! Many thanks!

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Are you doing this?
You have to sign in and download each iTunes account individually.
