Connection & Session Pooling

Hi
I am using JMS in a request/reply scenario.
The following is the sequence of operations
1. Get handle to Connection by JNDI lookup of QCF
2. Get handle to RequestQueue by JNDI lookup of Request Queue
3. Get handle to ResponseQueue by JNDI lookup of Response Queue
4. Create a Session and Sender on the Connection/RequestQueue.
5. Create a JMS message and send it with a correlation id on the Sender
6. Create a Session and Reciever on the connection/ResponseQueue with "CorrelationID" as message selector.
7. Receive the JMS message over the reciever.
There are multiple threads trying to send and recieve messages. Now my questions are --
1. What all things above can be re-used/pooled? Can I use only connection and create, say, for example 100 sessions and reuse them across 100 different threads?
2. Or Can I reuse the Senders and recievers as well? In other words, can I create 100 senders (or receivers) and reuse them over 100 threads. (In other words can I create a "SenderPool" and use them)
3. How many Sessions can be opened on one Connection?
4. I heard about ServerSessionPool, but did not have any pointers on how to get a handle to a ServerSessionPool? Will this be useful in this scenario?
Any help is highly appreciated,
Thanks and regards,
Rajs

Did you get an answer for this? Could you please
explain how you obtained a handle to
ServerSessionPool? ServerSession, ServerSessionPool (plus ConnectionConsumer) are part of JMS spec, ch 8, and are called Application Server Facilities (ASF). As the name suggests, the purpose is to bind a JMS provider into an app server.
You can, of course, use this facilities in a JMS client program, however, you have to provide the parts the app server has to provide. These are the impls for ServerSession and ServerSessionPool. Actually it's quite easy once you understand how it works, although, to understand how it works is not that easy. ;-)
You might take a look on our JMS XA/ASF impl to get an impression how it works from the perspective of a JMS provider:

  • Difference between connection, session and process

    Hi all,
Can anyone please update me on the difference between connection, session and process.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Sri

I got this useful note by googled in net. It describes session, connection, process gracefully.
A connection is a physical circuit between you and the database.A connection
might be one of many types -- most popular begin DEDICATED server and SHARED
server. Zero, one or more sessions may be established over a given connection
to the database as show above with sqlplus. A process will be used by a session
to execute statements. Sometimes there is a one to one relationship between
CONNECTION->SESSION->PROCESS (eg: a normal dedicated server connection).
Sometimes there is a one to many from connection to sessions (eg: like
autotrace, one connection, two sessions, one process). A process does not have
to be dedicated to a specific connection or session however, for example when
using shared server (MTS), your SESSION will grab a process from a pool of
processes in order to execute a statement. When the call is over, that process
is released back to the pool of processes.

  • Foreign JMS QCF and Weblogic Sever Session Pool

              Hi!
We have Weblogic 6.1 SP2 installation.
We are trying to use JMS Server session pool and connection consumer configuration
with MQSeries QCF registered to weblogic JNDI via startup class.
Upon server startup weblogic is throwing ClassCast exception for QueueConnection.
It seems weblogic is expecting QueueConnection implementation by weblogic.
Any suggestions or alternative way of doing it.
              Thanks

    Hi Jay,
Server session pools do not support foreign providers.
The preferred way to integrate foreign providers is via MDBs or
via the Messaging Bridge (bridge available in SP3). For a
comprehensive write-up on integrating foreign providers with
WL see the whitepaper "Using Foreign JMS Providers with
              WebLogic Server" on dev2dev.bea.com.

  • A problem of using Connection session in Oracle9iAS Report

    I used Oracle Report6i Before. Report6i creates a database
connection each time a user sends in a report request. So, each
time the users send in request, they will have different connection
    session.
But in Oracle9iAS report, things become different because Report9i
is using the connection pool. It looks like, different users if
they used the same database login ID will use the same connection.
This means all these users will be in same connection session. Then
if these users are trying to run a same report which uses some session
temporary table for reporting, they will interfere with each.
    For an example,
    1) user A and B are going to run a report named rep_AB
    2) In rep_AB, a temporary table named t_table is used to store
the query result for reporting. But this temporary table never
get committed, so it's only valid for the current session. This
    is what I actually want.
    3) User A and B use the same user ID to login database
    4) When report server receives the request from A, it contructed
    a connection for A
    5) After get connected, User A begins to write into temporary table
    t_table in his session.
    6) Then comes the request from user B. Report server finds out user
B has the same user ID, then assigns him the same connection used
by user A. So user B gets into the same session as user A.
    7) User B begins to write into table t_table, but user A is going to
output the data in t_table as reporting result.
Then eventually, both user A and B give out the wrong report because
actaully they have interefered with each other.
Is there any workaround for this case? Any information and help is
    appreciated greatly.

  • How can I know the connections are pooled?

    Hi. everyone.
I am wondering how I can monitor the connections are pooled.
    I am using web-logic as a web server and oracle9ir2 as a
    database server.
When I was deploying an application to the web-logic, I created a
    connection pool.
And then, I run the application respectively(exactly two).
However, there is only one session in the "V$SESSION" dictionary.
I do not understand why there is only session in the V$SESSION, although
    I run two application respectively.
In addition, how can I monitor the oracle conenctions are pooled?
Does V$SESSION have nothing to do with oracle connection pool?
    Thanks in advance.
    Have a good day.
    Best Regards
    Ho.

    Dear Sabdar Syed.
    Thanks for your reply.
Here is the result of v$license.
    SQL> select * from v$license;
    SESSIONS_MAX : 0
    SESSIONS_WARNING : 0
    SESSIONS_CURRENT : 6
    SESSIONS_HIGHWATER : 6
    USERS_MAX : 0
    What does it mean, sessions_max(0), sessions_current(6), users_max(0)
    I am still confused.
Could you give me a more detailed explanations?
Thanks in advance. Have a good day.
    Regards.

  • Any Session Pooling examples

I have seen Oracle talk about implementing session pooling for web service connections, but I have not seen any examples. Just their basic login/logoff example. Is there anything posted?

    Hi,
We are also using BPEL to send data out to SIEBEL CRMOD.
I've created a proxy that deals with authentication and session management.
All you have to do is to deploy the proxy as a war file and refrence it as the end-point of your partner link.
    Code is here:

  • Session pooling and statement handles

    Hi there,
I have a large multi-threaded application (perhaps >100 threads). Each thread is continuously processing events (very high volumes) which involves some manipulation and some database operations (from a fixed set of possible operations).
I am using session pooling but what I want to know is, Should I:
    (a) Prepare my fixed set of statement handles up front at program start-up when I'm creating the session pool and then reuse the statement handles in each event processing thread (also, is this thread safe ? even if it is, all threads would be contending on the same statement handles)
    or
    (b) Prepare the statement handle for each event which presumably will exploit the statement cache on the session pool. This would also mean not having statement handles shared between threads thus removing any thread contention issues.
I think (b) is the option for me, but does anyone have any thoughts ?

With a), one would think it's OK, but I would hate to find out that it's not thread safe by accident.
But anyway, with b) the cost of allocating private statement handles in each thread seems very low. The memory required for the statement handle plus its bind and define handles could very well be below 8k per statement. If you've got say, 5 statements * 100 threads, you're only looking at around 4MB overall.
Finally, you might want to make sure that the session pool statement cache is working by checking the values for 'executions' and 'parse_calls' in V$SQL for your statements.

  • Unable to get a connection for pool - ResourceUnavailableException

    Hi
I have a BPEL process which starts a child instance of another asynchronous BPEL process for each message in an XML file. The child BPEL process makes a call to the Oracle Apps JCA Adapter to push the data into E-Business Suite.
All works perfectly except when the number of messages exceeds a certain limit (15 or so). The error received is as follows:
"Exception occured when binding was invoked.
Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'SyncPersonRecord' failed due to:
JCA Binding Component connection issue. JCA Binding Component is unable to create an outbound JCA (CCI) connection.
    ebsPeoplesoftEmployees:SyncPersonRecord [ SyncPersonRecord_ptt::SyncPersonRecord(InputParameters,OutputParameters) ] :
The JCA Binding Component was unable to establish an outbound JCA CCI connection due to the following issue:

Either specify a time period to wait for resources to become available, or increase the size of the pool and retry.. Please make sure that the JCA connection factory and any dependent connection factories have been configured with a sufficient limit for max connections.
Please also make sure that the physical connection to the backend EIS is available and the backend itself is accepting connections. ".
The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception.
Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution."
Obviously what is happening is the connection pool maximum is reached (currently 15) and this is throwing the error.
What I need to do is to implement the suggestion of "specifying a time period to wait" and I was hoping someone could tell me how I do this?
I have tried setting the 'Connection Creation Retry Frequency' parameter to 30 seconds which made no difference and also have checked the documentation on "Configuring and Managing JDBC Data Sources for Oracle WebLogic Server".
Does anyone know if this is something that is implemented directly in the BPEL process/composite or in the connection source itself.
    Many thanks

Open the jndi : eis/Apps/Apps in /console - config tab - increase the initial and max conn capacity and save it. Retry the scenario

    Hi,
What are all the options to increase the Max. No. of connections(Sessions) & Processes in Database?

    Kindly clarify me on this.

That would give you an indication of highest possible load on the database. In case of a brand new setup (with no information about the number of concurrent users), you need to start with a reasonable value and revise if needed.

  • Grant debug connect session to user

I understand that if DBA hasn't granted following option to "user" following way:
grant debug connect session to user;, then "user" wil lget following error when she tries to debug:
    ORA-0131:Insufficient Priviledges
Debugging requires Debug connect session system priviledgesIs there any explanation why DBA decides to not grant such privilege? Maybe such privilege slows down something? Maybe it can create security "hole"? Maybe there is another good explanation?
The "user" in this example was Schema/Account ment for Development personell who developes functionality, but it doesn't matter i think what kind the "user" is.
so why you think i don't have such privilege, what bad could such privilege when granted give?

Its just that You have not been Granted that Privilege. Mostly in what ever shop i have worked Such grants are given on request Base.
Debugging is a Developers Right and no one can denie it.
But i never use any debugging tool. I only relay on my Instrumented Code.

In your applicaion module configurations check if you are using 'JDBC URL' or 'JDBC DataSource'. You should use JDBC DataSource. Then make sure that your deployment descriptor (menu 'Application->Application Properties->Deployment) has the 'Auto Generate ...' checkbox set.

  • OraOLEDB.Oracle provider create connections (sessions).

    Hi all,
I have Link server between oracle and MSSQL with following versions,
    Oracle – 10G
    MSSQL – SQL Server 2008 R2
    Link server provider=N'OraOLEDB.Oracle'
After created link server then without actually doing any queries or anything oracle side create 100 or 120 connections (sessions) from this SQL server to oracle server. Any idea on this?
    Thanks
    Tharindu Dhaneenja

Alright, so it's not that. It's possible the OLE DB provider isn't installed, depending on how you installed the Oracle client.
This link has a little windows script that can list all the known OLE DB providers. That should tell you if its installed and SSIS isn't finding it, or if it's not installed at all. http://www.motobit.com/help/regedit/sa117.htm

Has anyone had any luck actually getting this to work? If so, how? It simply seems like this particular aspect of the product is broken!
Your help would be VERY much appreciated!
    Regards,

    Hi SR,
Thanks for your response. I attempted what you've suggested (1=1 - asset new fact in output), however nothing has changed.
This is occurring across several Composite Rules projects, including the Oracle provided Chapter 5 Order Approval example. Unless someone can suggest a solution to this issues, it looks like we're going to have to shelf our plans to utilize the Business Rules component via the composite service.
    Very frustrating couple of days, that's for sure! :{
    Regards,
    Rhian
