Console output on jspx page

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to display information on the console?
I've tried using jsp scriptlet it can't work.
Is this correct?
<jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8 " import="java.io.*" />
Thanks
Gavin

#### Cannot run application UI due to error deploying to DefaultServer.
[Application UI stopped and undeployed from Server Instance DefaultServer]

I was facing a similar error, the problem was because of adf-controller.jar. My error was :
java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method oracle.adf.controller.v2.lifecycle.Lifecycle$Phase.<init>(Ljava/lang/String;)V from class oracle.adfinternal.controller.faces.lifecycle.JSFLifecycle$JSFPhase
The jar's 10g edition has (1st part)oracle.adf.controller.v2.lifecycle.Lifecycle$Phase and 11g edition has (2nd part) oracle.adfinternal.controller.faces.lifecycle.JSFLifecycle$JSFPhase. So I created my own jar extracting both jars at one place using the following command
jar -cf adf-controller.jar .
This solved my problem.
Hope you get the idea. The best way to face these type of errors is opening the archive and checking for the files for which the compiler is complaining.

• Not working in jspx page

Hi.,
I am using jdev11.1.5
I had created a EO [Finyear] with that corresponding VO
I had created a VO [finperiod VO name] using read only Querry with the given querry
select distinct fp_bu,fp_year,fp_period, decode(gdh_status,'R','Yes','No') distribution,decode (aj_status ,'N','Yes','No') Recursion,
decode(RSUPHD_STATUS,'P','Yes','No') Supplier,decode(RCDOC_STATUS,'P','Yes','No') Customer
from gl_dist_hd,fin_periods,appl_journals,rec_suplr_doc_hd,rec_cust_doc_hd
where
fp_period = gdh_period(+) and
gdh_period = aj_period(+) and
aj_period = RSUPHD_DOC_PERIOD(+) and
RSUPHD_DOC_PERIOD = RCDOC_DOC_PERIOD(+)
ORDER BY fp_period ascI had created a viewlink between two vo finperiod , finyear
finperiod.bu = finyear.bu
finperiod.year = finyear.yearwhile i am running the viewlink in Business Component browser it works fine
But when i tried to run this in my jspx page it displays the output for one period
i need to display the output for all the 12 period corrsponding to that year.,
would anyone pls help me

Hi,
When you ran the AM tester (and selected the view link), it is displayed as master form and detail table. But, in the jspx page, you have only the table.
Can you create another page and try dropping it as master form and detail table to check if it works on the same manner as which the AM tester?

• Fill placeholders within message strings dynamically on jspx pages

Hello all,
i am searching a solution for the following problem.
Let's assume the following key/value pair exists in the message resource bundle:
targets.delete.confirmation=Do your really want to delete the target "{0}"?
On a jspx page there is a confirmation dialog. The code looks like that:
<af:dialog id="dialogDel" type="yesNo" closeIconVisible="true"
title="#{nls\['targets.delete.title'\]}"
visible="true" modal="true" partialTriggers="tabTgt tabTgt:btnDelete"
dialogListener="#{backingBeanScope.targetsBean.dialogDel_action}">
<af:message messageType="confirmation" message="#{nls\['targets.delete.confirmation'\]}">
<f:attribute name="{0}" value="#{bindings.TgtName.inputValue}"/>
</af:message>
</af:dialog>
Now i want the placeholder {0} getting filled at runtime dynamically with the inputValue of the appropriate binding.
The code as shown doesn't solve the problem.
I'm experienced in developping web applications with ADF UIX and there i got this done with the following code:
<boundAttribute name="title">
<messageFormat format="${nls\['targets.delete.confirmation'\]}">
<dataObject source="${bindings.TgtName.inputValue}"/>
</messageFormat>
</boundAttribute>
What's the equivalent to 'messageFormat' in ADF Faces??
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
Not sure if this will help, but rather than using proper messages, can you just use a piece of output text like:
<h:outputFormat value="#{nls['targets.delete.confirmation']}">
<f:param value="#{bindings.TgtName.inputValue}"/>
</h:outputFormat>The outputFormat tag is from the JSF HTML tag library

• OutputLabes, values in selectOneChoice are appearing twice in the jspx page

Hi All,
In a Jspx Page, there are two menu tabs. Each Tab has a PanelForm and each panelform has certain components.
By default the first panelform in the first tab will be shown on page load and while clicking on second tab, the second panelform will be shown.
The first panelform has three selectonechoices and three command buttons.
If i click on reset button, these 3 selectonechoices are set to null by backing bean.
Here comes the problem, after clicking on reset, if you click on second tab where the second panel form available, certain components like outputLabel and the values in selectOnechoice, are appearing twice on the page.
Can anyone suggest me how to get rid of this problem..

Hi Puthanampatti,
Thanks a lot for your reply, but i am using JDev 10.1.3.3. There is no panelFormLayout component and i am not using that component.
Even i am strange this duplicating of components and values in selectoneChoice occuring from past 2 days in the old file. I am wondering whether my file got corrupted by any sort.

• ADF : How to import a java class in jspx page

Hi All,
In jsp we have page directive to import a java class. Do we have anything similar to that in a jspx page?

Hello,
If you create a new jspx file in jdeveloper, the untitled file generated will be this:

<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1">
<jsp:output omit-xml-declaration="true" doctype-root-element="HTML"
doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"
doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"/>
<jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" import="java.util.*"/>

untitled1

</jsp:root>
You can see the page directive there!

• How to print console output

Hi, I have a JSP page and I would like to print STDOUT to the page. Is this possible?
I've seen a few methods and none work for me:
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(System.out);
String input = reader.readLine();
out.println(input);*** Error: Type BufferedReader was not found.
FileOutputStream out;
PrintStream ps; // declare a print stream object
try {
// Create a new file output stream
out = new FileOutputStream("myfile.txt");
// Connect print stream to the output stream
ps = new PrintStream(out);
ps.println ("This data is written to a file:");
System.err.println ("Write successfully");
ps.close();
catch (Exception e){
System.err.println ("Error in writing to file");
}*** Error: Duplicate declaration of local variable "out".
*** Error: The type of the left-hand side in this assignment, "javax/servlet/jsp/JspWriter", is not compatible with the type of the right-hand side expression, "java/io/FileOutputStream".
*** Error: No match was found for constructor "PrintStream(javax.servlet.jsp.JspWriter)".
So what's next?
How can I call the console without writing to a file first?
I would like AJAX to show console output in real-time.

Thanks for your help.
The reason I have the script to write to a file is because it's the closest I could find to what I want. Ideally, I would be able to run a script that prints to the console but I want to grab the system.out going to the console and display it on the page.
Basically, I want the page to act as a console but not redirect the output (I want it to still go to the console) and I don't want it in a text file that the page reads.
So for example, the page loads and while that is occurring, the server grabs the console output and prints to the page. Then I run a function on the page that prints to the console and on the refresh, print the updated output. Ideally, I would restrict the output that was relevant to the page's functions and ignore every output to the console but I'm not (trying to be) picky.
So how would that work?
Pseudo-code:
for (int i=0;i < System.out().length(); i++) {
String grabbedtext += System.out().toString();
}out.println(grabbedtext);

• JspParse Error when trying to run jsp/jspx page deployed on standalone OC4J

I have ADF Faces Application, which is developed with JDev 11 TP3.
I have deployed the application to Standalone OC4J Server, packed within JDeveloper 11 TP3.
The problem comes, when i try to acess my login jsp or other JSPX page,then i receive the following error on the standalone OC4J Server console:
for the JSP:

<%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1251"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" prefix="c"%>
for JSPX:
Directive handlers must descend from JSP Directive..
But i have:
<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"

That works fine with JDev embedded OC4J.

• Embedded Java Applet NullPointerException in JSPX pages

We have a ADF web application programmed in JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.4.0), which was migrated over from a 10g (10.1.3.5.0) project
Within the application, occasionally, we need to call a Java Applet which is placed in a public_html/applet folder. The jars show up in the Web-Content tab of the ViewController in the Application Navigator, just like it did in 10g.
The applet tag looks like this:
<applet height="100" width="100" code="applet.SetupApplet" archive="applet/SSetupApplet.jar">

</applet>
I've also tried calling the applet with the Java deploy applet script
<trh:script source="http://java.com/js/deployJava.js"></trh:script>
<trh:script>
var attributes = {code:'applet.SetupApplet',
archive:'applet/SSetupApplet.jar'};
var parameters = {} ;
var version = '1.6' ;
deployJava.runApplet(attributes, parameters, version);
</trh:script>
When I navigate to the login.jspx page that has this tag, it pops the Java Console open, but doesn't actually run the applet (or show the prompts to allow using the Applet). Instead, the applet is shown with an error and the error says "NullPointerException". I've double-checked the path and it's correct (with incorrect paths, I get a ClassNotFoundException). In the application server logs, I see the following error:
<Warning> <Socket> <BEA-000449> <Closing socket as no data read from it on IPADDRESS during the configured idle timeout of 5 secs>
I created a normal .jsp file that's outside the ADF Faces Context in the applet folder. Navigating to it with the same applet tags does have the Java applet run without the socket error. The same code in 10g works fine.
Is there anything I'm missing?
Thanks.

• Can I tell Safari Web Inspector Console to clear on page reload?

Is there any way to get rid of or at leas hide the previous console output when I reload the page?
Currently Safari just puts a very faint dotted line between the various reloads' output, and it's occasionaly hard to tell if I've fixed the probem or not.
Safari Version 7.0 (9537.71)

e.g. here is the difference between "You still have an error to fix"
and "You just fixed that error"
blown up 2x, so it is a little easier to notice the difference than in practice
There is a tiny trashcan icon to clear the console, but it is very tiny and occasionally isn't even there, I have to click away from the console and click back to see it.

• Pass HTML snippet TO JSPX page

Hi
I have a backing bean. In page's backing bean I have a small HTML snippet (that is small MenuBar functionality) that has come OUt of database.
How can i pass this HTML snippet FROM this backing bean TO the jspx page ? Meaning this HTML snippet should go as HTML in the body of jspx page and then get rendered as MenuBar as jspx page runs .......
thx
dd

Are you using ADF in jour JSPX?
It isn't good practice to create HTML in your backing bean and then pass it to your page...
In JSPX you can create dynamic menus without any problems. There are methods enough to iterate a collection from your backing bean.
The complete idea of beans is to have a seperation between your view layer and other layers. You shoulnd't realy use that methode... Instead, get a collection that respresent your menu. For example a public List<MenuItem> getMenu(). In your jspx you can iterate it and output it correctly.

• Using dtrace to tap into local-zone console output?

Was wondering if anyone has experimented with dtrace to capture zlogin console output for local zones. (all in the global ofcourse)
(I don't want to run zlogin and capture its output to a file, since that would interfere with normal "zlogin" operation.)
The idea would be to try and use dtrace to attach to some sort of centralized "zlogin construct/object" and then capure ALL zlogin console-output for ALL local zones, with dtrace, and then having that parsed out to log-files for each local zone.
Might sound a little far-fetched, but until a standard interface for zone-console logging is created, this may be the base we can do?
If you can think of alternatives, please share them.
thanks,

Hi All,
i am facing a strange problem...
i have a project with 18 jspx pages..now i need an additional functionality in my project, which requires creation of one more jspx...
when i try to create another page the previous functionalities are not working...
Is there any limitation on the number of pages in a Project..
Can someone give pointers on this ...
Thanks in advance,
Naveen kumar.

Hi Frank,
Thanks for the immediate reply...
If there is no limitation on number of pages .. what may be the possible reason that all other command buttons and links are not working...
i just creaated an empty jspx which even does not have any navigation case ..
all the functionalities are not working....

When i use IE there is no problem, an iFrame is generated and the bucket detais are rendered into it.
The problem is with Firefox, the is an iFrame in the HTML code, but there is no rendering of it : why ?
it seems that iFrames are well-rendered with FireFox and i don't no how to change my page to render it good with both FireFox and IE
Please tell me a solution, something to change with my ADF tags ?...
Sincerely,
edward.

i found solution for the problem that i use the following code to include JavaScript file
i found that the problem occurred when i use the following code to include JavaScript file

also if i included 2 JavaScript files only one file is included at runtime
but when i used the following code to include JavaScript files
<afh:script source="javascriptfile.js"/>
the two problems were solved (the problem of LOV and the problem of including multiple /js files)
i don't know if it is a bug in the ADF or i made a mistake in the previous way
any way thanks to you all for helping me
