Console/Safari/Certificate - Help

Hiya, the other day I noticed on my activity window an invalid certificate

I then looked into it more and it says it was fake, so I switch it to never trust but it still appears when I want to log into Tumblr's website but goes after I log in.

1. I don't understand why it keeps appear.
2. Since I have stop trusting it, in my console log my safari hasn't been posting it's messages like normal when I clear my cache etc
19/04/2012 12:15:08          [0x0-0x2a02a].com.apple.Safari[206]          Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
19/04/2012 12:15:08          [0x0-0x2a02a].com.apple.Safari[206]                    at sun.plugin2.main.server.MozillaPlugin.getCachedSiteData(MozillaPlugin.java:484)
19/04/2012 12:15:08          [0x0-0x2a02a].com.apple.Safari[206]          Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
19/04/2012 12:15:08          [0x0-0x2a02a].com.apple.Safari[206]                    at sun.plugin2.main.server.MozillaPlugin.getCachedSiteData(MozillaPlugin.java:484)
That above code has stop being displayed when I use safari since changing the trust issue.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Would it be a good idea to switch to Chrome or Firefox for the time being?

To add more to this, I wanted to ask these questions.
1.When I did log into tumblr page, it didn't actually come up saying it was a fake website that I was connecting to so I'm not to sure my details are going to get stolen and nothing has changed on my page.
2. Is there any other way to make my certificates more secure etc?
Thanks for your help.
Edit: a248.e.akamai.net is pretending to be https://edge.quantserve.com/quant.js I'm not actually going onto the website but it comes as a cookie when I go onto tumblr login page.

Can you post a copy of the crash report?
Go to your Applications Folder and open your Utilities Folder. Open the application Console.
In the left-hand column, click on Crash Reporter.
Click on the small triangle under Crash Reporter in the l/h column and they will all be listed.
Scroll down to the latest Safari report and click on it.
Now click on the r/h column (which now only shows THAT crash report and then Command-a to copy it all.
Come back here and Command-v it to post it here!

I have tried getting my full screen back and its not working please help?????

First off, iOS 7 does not run on Macs.
Secondly, Mac Pros are desktops, and MacBook Pros are notebooks.  Something is not jibing with your signature and what you say you are running.  Please go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to tell us your Mac OS X version.
Go to Safari menu -> About Safari, or Help menu-> About Safari to tell us your Safari version.
That will tell us if fullscreen is an option.

• Safari/facebook help

Hi
when ever i chat with a friend on facebook i get this pop up safari can't find internet plug-in. some content on the page facebook home can't be shown because its mime type is unspecified. does anyone know if there will be fixes to this any time soon?
i have safari 4.0.4 {531.31.10}
thank you

Excellent news, Kevin. Glad to have finally been of help with something for you!
i just wonder why that it has to be uncheck for it to work ok with out know mime types message.
Taken literally, the message is saying that Safari doesn't know what application to use to play the pop-up sound. Unfortunately, sometimes the literal meanings of error messages on a PC don't match up well with what is actually causing them.
If you've got time, you could send a bug report to Apple about the issue. If you bring up your Menu bar in Safari, go "Help > Report Bugs to Apple" to send a bug report. If you do it while you're at Facebook and getting the error message, you can also send a screenshot of the page (with the error message on it), and can also attach the source code of the page to the bug report.

It would appear that your system is somewhat mangled, and it is time for some general 'servicing'.
Start here:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.
Background information here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452?viewlocale=en_US
and here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
More useful reading here:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

For a full description of how to resolve Disk, Permission and Cache Corruption, you should read this FAQ from the X Lab:
http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/repairprocess.html
Reboot your Mac and then perform a Safe Boot:

Now try downloading and installing again.

So a Spotlight search on your phone to search for Safari and click the App. Once you verify that it is still on there you'll just have to look for it.
If the App isn't listed, try a restart/reboot of the iPhone holding the home button and sleep/wake switch. If the App still doesn't show itself in the OS or via Spotlight, restore the phone via iTunes.

• Safari, Mail, Help crashes since 10.4.11

Hello!
Since i update to 10.4.11 some applications crashes when i try to start them with the "unexpected quit" message (Safari, Mail, Help-Viewer, Software-Update)
I did not use any hacks, i also look in the libery but there is no PicLens and no other Plug-In.
When i try to load the 10.4.10 Combo Updater the system crash again with the "unexpected quit" message.
I use the Disk-Utility to repair the hard disk but it doesn´t help.
I have no other Idea! Can you help me please?
Basti

Bastian,
After your backup I would recommend that you download and attempt to reapply the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC).
Very often a Combo Update will be successful when an incremental Software Update has not been successful.

• Pop-up links everywhere in Safari, please help!

I will try to give as many details as possible, but unfortunately I am not the BEST at knowing when it comes to computers (I'm trying to learn every day though) -- so I'm sorry in advance if any of this is confusing.
I had been having issues with my computer being very slow recently, so I did a Disk Utility update as recommended by a very awesome article I found online. My computer speed has gotten back to normal and I thought everything was great! Until I realized that my Safari has not been fixed. I've tried EVERYTHING.
When my computer was being slow, I updated to the most recent OS X available. I have a Macbook that I purchased for college in 2011 - so the physical computer is not too new, so I thought that giving my computer an update in software would help.
For some reason, though, my Safari has been having so many ads. Like I said, I've tried almost everything I could find. My Safari will pop up with a new ad window almost anywhere I click. I get ads for hotels.com, Mackeeper, Dynamic Pricer... you name it. It's so inconvenient and annoying and I am genuinely hoping there's a way I can fix it. I've been so satisfied with my Mac these past three years but this is just a problem that's reminding me of what I used to run into all the time in the old PC days.
To give you an idea of what I've tried: I've tried AdBlock, removing third party add ons or plug ins, changing my settings in Security and Privacy (the cookie settings, etc), I've tried searching my mac to see if Mackeeper or any of those annoying ads are in my activity monitor.
Please tell me there's a way to get rid of these ads! I don't mind some ads, but just about anywhere I click on my Safari window, I get an ad that pops up into a new tab, so it's leading me to believe something is clearly wrong.
If anyone has any further suggestions for improvement, I will be forever grateful! Usually I can do some research and figure little issues out, but this is persistent and nothing I search has been successful.
Thank you!

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

• Extremely annoying ads constantly popping up EVERYWHERE on Safari, please help!

I recently tried downloading a movie off the internet for the first time and obviously made a very stupid mistake. I download songs quite regularly, but after trying to download a movie problems immediately started arising. It's almost as if everything I click in both Safari and Chrome has an ad window that pops up behind my current window, or a new, extra tab opens to some strange advertisement.
I've tried disabling cookies, blocked certain weird plug-ins, asking websites not to track me, basically a lot of the things under Safari's preferences to make this stop but it has not stopped whatsoever. I ran ClamXav to check for infected files and it didn't come up with anything. What else can I do?
I'm very desperate. I want all this to stop because I use the internet very frequently and would like these sorts of things to stop happening ASAP.
Thank you if you can help!

• Java 'red x of death' in Safari - PLEASE HELP!

Hi,
I know there's no simple fix to the Java problems in Safari, but I feel like I'm going round in circles and really need some advice from someone with more Mac knowledge than me (I'm a relative newbie).
Details of my problem:
-The Java window in a webpage shows coffeecup then moving spikes around then, finally, the red x of death in the corner. Safari is hung whilst processing this.
-this is what console log has to say about this process:

-I have the following in my safari->help->installed plugins page, Java Plugin for Cocoa, Java Plugin CFM and Java Plugin (both java 1.3.1). (I have 1.3.1, 1.4.2 and the 5.0 installed, apparently.)
-Java application cache viewer says 'Cache is not configured' - ?
I've tried:
-Downloading firefox. Firefox chokes completely on the page in question and I have to quit it by hand.
-When I had this problem before, I moved com.apple.java.JavaPreferences.plist to trash, restarted, and everything then worked fine. Then I installed Maple 10, and the problem appeared again. First time it appeared, deleting this file worked again. Now the problem's appearing a third time, and it now DOESNT fix it. In fact now I have no such file at all on my system. This was the only prefs file of those suggested to be deleted in previous posts that I could find.
-I haven't tried creating a new user.
-I haven't reinstalled java since this new problem appeared (didn't fix the problem when it first occurred.)
I'm hoping that the log file especially might help someone pinpoint the precise nature of my problem... I really need to access this one particular page on a daily basis, so any suggestions at all would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Rebecca.

Hi,
ok...so...I can't copy the url - its a customisable page, I enter values in and up comes a pie chart.
The problem isn't the site, anyway - no java webpages work. The problem is definitely caused by Maple 10. Maple crashes, I lose java. I fixed this problem yesterday by trashing com.apple.java.JavaPreferences.plist and another file that randomly appeared, JavaConfig.plist. Now it doesnt work again.
Short of ditching maple (and harassing their tech support) - any suggestions?
Thanks.
