Consume a restful webservice using plsql

Hi
We need to consume a restful webservice and this needs to be implemented using plsql.
I know that we can use utl_dbws or utl_http to consume SOAP based web services but
there is not much information on how to consume restful web services.
kindly let me know if you have information.
Cheers

Im looking for the opposite scenario where i need to access a restful web service from plsql. Why would a RESTful call be any different from a normal URL call? HTTP is the transport mechanism - and UTL_HTTP is used in PL/SQL as the client side of a HTTP conversation.
I posted sample code of a how to use PL/SQL as a brower client in {message:id=1925297} - using a pipeline table to demonstrate the contents returned by the web server in response using plain SQL.
Depending on what the contents is, you can write it into a BLOB (dealing with binary data returned), a CLOB (for XML data for example), or using varchar2 you can for example parse a text/csv response (no need for a pipeline in such a case).
The only real issue I can see with a RESTful service is URL construction - as the URL becomes "parameterised" and not just the query string itself, or the data contents (name values) in the POST structure.

    Hi All,
How to consume REST WebService using Axis2 in Adobe CQ5.5 ?
Please help me with this. Thanks very much for your help.

We had enough trouble getting the "osgi compliant" Axis2 library to run in OSGI without spooky failures that we ended up re-writing everything utilizng JAX-WS. JAX-WS is present in the underlying JDK, you just need to create an OSGI fragment bundle that exposes these classes from the JDK. So basically a bundle that just exports:

  • Connection issue while accessing a jersey restful webservice using aysynch callback method.

    Hi,
I am having one consumer and producer application. Producer is a Jersey restful webservice deployed in a tomcat server. Consumer side I am using executor service to create one scheduler which will keep on polling and creates a new Thread where I am making a asynch callback req to the service(Producer). But the problem is after my asynch executor thread will die still I can see one connection in deployed server.
I used yourkit profiler, I can see one thread in runnable state even when the asynch executor dies.
I think bec of scheduler still there is a connection between client and service. I wanted to create multiple consumer to process multiple thread but because of thread leakage I am not able to proceed.
Could you please help me on this?

    Err, close the connection?

  • Consuming the webservice in PLSQL

    Dear Experts,
I have created a webservice using NWDS and deployed it in EP Java Stack and i was able to test this webservice from WSNavigator.
Now when i am trying to consume the same webservice from PLSQL. I am getting the below exception
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: service: {urnLAMWSWsd/OLAMConfig/document}OLAMWS does not contain port: {urnLAMWSWsd/OLAMConfig/document}OLAMConfigPort_Document
    please advice what to do
    Thanks and Regards
    Hari Krishna

    Hi,
I also think that there is something wrong with the call from PLSQL but try testing the webservice using SoapUI or XMLSpy or any other SOAP client. If it works fine that way then you have conclusive proof that you need to re-check your request call in PLSQL.

    Hi,
I am trying to bring a REST Webservice using ATG 9.3 version.I am getting the below errors in the startup of the instance.I have added "REST" module in the Manifest file and am able to see the entry " C:\ATG\ATG9.3\REST\config\config.jar" in CONFIGPATH(Please let me know if there are other ways to find if the service has come up properly).I am trying to connect to the server using JAVA based REST Client as given below. Also,i have placed the jar files in the CLASSPATH of the module.I am hoping that the webservice have not come up properly because of these startup errors. Please help me out to resolve this issue.

  • Restful Webservice and German Umlaut

    Hello,
i'm trying to setup a restful webservice using Apex 4.2 and Apex Listener 2, but i have problems regarding german unlaute in the json response.
To see if its a configuration error on my side, i did setup an exmaple on apex.oracle.com and there i get the same results.
I added a now row to the table emp, with just the ename as 'öäü'.
Please see the example at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/dwtest/getEmp/
    The result looks like this:
    {"next":{"$ref":"http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/dwtest/getEmp/?page=1"},"items":[{"ename":"öäü"}]}It should look like this:
{"next":{"$ref":"http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/dwtest/getEmp/?page=1"},"items":[{"ename":"öäü"}]}The interesting fact is that i sometimes get the desired output, but its net reproducible to me. As browser i tested Firefox, Chrome, IE9 and Opera.
I wonder if i configured something wrong in my browsers or in apex.
If you would like to take a look at the webservide use these credentials:
    Workspace: dwtest
    Username: testuser
    Password: forum
    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi All,
As far as i know, we can create RESTful webservices using,
    1. SAP Netweaver gateway.
    2. SAP PI using third party adapter.
Please tell me if there is any other ways to create RESTful webservices in SAP.

    Hi Haritha,
Go to Tcode SE16, give your ODS active Table name and give width of output list as 1023.

  • Rest services using WCF

    Hi,
Couple of doubts about wcf rest  services.
1, how a wcf rest service call is made from a asp.net mvc or asp.net web application .
a, What is the better way to consume in ecommerce application (where traffic is more)
b, is it using a httpwebrequest obejct or do we need to create a proxy class , can anybody paste a snippet of the code
consume it ore please suggest a web reference link .
2, is the web api took over the wcf rest service role  or still it is using in industry.
    Thanks

For the WCF Rest Service, we can not do the add the service reference as do in WCF SOAP Service, because the REST Service has no concept of a WSDL in WCF. Then if you want to call the WCF Rest Service from a asp.net mvc or asp.net
web application, please try to use the HttpWebReqest, HttpClient or the Jquery to help us. In my mind the better way to consume the WCF Rest Services in the ecommerce application is to use the Jquery Ajax Calls.

Web API is open source an ideal platform for building REST-ful services over the .NET Framework. Unlike WCF Rest service, it use the full featues of HTTP (like URIs, request/response headers, caching, versioning, various content formats). It also supports the
MVC features such as routing, controllers, action results, filter, model binders, IOC container or dependency injection, unit testing that makes it more simple and robust.

  • How to expose a bapi as Rest webservice to consume in web applications

Hello experts , i now seriously need your suggestion here. Is there a way to expose a BAPI as a rest webservice which can be consumed by a web application in the end.
What is ICF ( Internet Communication Framework) ? Does this help in generating web service from BAPI ?
Netweaver Gateway might help to generate services but may not be recommended here in our scenario.

Please refer Real Web Services with REST and ICF for creation of rest services in sap. The BAPI will have to be called in your handler class.
I think your best bet would be to transfer the data in the body of the http request and use simple transformation(with multiple roots) to convert the xml data to sap formats. GZIP can also be used to compress the data that is being sent. We have done this successfully in one of our projects.
However this approach(RESTful Service) would involve more work when compared to the approach suggested by Vikram. If SOAP based services are ok, then you should go ahead with Vikram's approach.

  • Call Webservice using REST and not SOAP

Hi, I am looking for an example of calling (invoking) a webservice from the database using PLSQL. The webservice is using REST rather than SOAP and returning XML
I have already got examples of how to call a webservice using SOAP but not for REST
    Regards
    Ash

Using Fiddler while loading your WSDL in a browser, I can see that the WSDL is using HTTP Chunked encoding. You should configure JBoss to return the WSDL without chunked encoding.

  • PI Consume Restful Webservices

    Hi,
I have scenario in which PI needs to consume Restful webservices.
I am looking at HTTP receiver adapter in which I want to set appropreate action (POST, GET, PUT or DELETE) based on mapping.
For example I want to DELETE purcahse order TXU-19282. The http request that sends to Restful webservice looks like as follows.
    DELETE /restfulwebservice-war/poservice/TXU-19282 HTTP/1.0
    Connection: close
    Content-Type: text/xml
    Content-Length: 0
    Pragma: no-cache
Now my question is how do I set set above information on HTTP receiver adapater. I looked at dynamic configuration and could find it useful.
Also I am interested in finding how do I set both heder and Payload via mapping?
    Please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Balaji

I dont think, there is an option to mention (POST, GET, PUT or DELETE) in HTTP reciever adapter.
usually , it is with JDBC adapter.
Lets wait for someone to answer as well. am not much sure.
Also I am interested in finding how do I set both heder and Payload via mapping?
Usually, header can be filled with XSL mapping. payload can also be filled with XSL or else with simple graphical mapping.

  • Consuming WCF-Webservices using XI/PI

    Hello,
I'am trying to consume a WCF-Webservice with the XI/PI. First I imported the WSDL of this webservice as an external definition - so far so good. But when I try to create a message-mapping, no fields are available and the XI/PI says something like "null-pointer exception". I suppose it's because there are no field definitions in the WSDL (seems, that the fields I'am missing are downloaded in the background when using anything other to test the webservice, eg. SoapUI).
Can someone give me a hint how to comsume WCF-Services with the XI? Maybe it's a problem with the WSDL, but how can I put the fields/parameters into the WSDL?
    Thank in advance
    Thomas

1.Once you import the WSDL under External Definition then you should be able to see the messages under the message tab which indicates input/output message types of your Web service
2.If you are not sending any request and not expecting any response from web service then this message tab will be empty
if web service contains reference to input and output strucuteres then PI editor can not refer them
in that case do a copy the structure of messages into WSLD and reimport agian

  • Error in consuming webservices using ABAP

    Dear Gurus,
I am trying to consume webservices using ABAP. We dont have XI installed and no java instance installed.
I created a customer proxy through SE80 and generated a proxy class by giving a WSDL link and also defined logical port. Traditionally followed the steps. But while testing webservices , I get a ICF error.
    The error is as follows:
SOAP : 1:023 SRT : Processing error in internet communication framework ("ICF error when recieving the response  ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED)
Please let me know the cause of this error and solution to be provided.
I also tried to call the method from an abap program, But I get CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT exception.
    Awaiting your replies.
Thanks in advance for your support and valuable time.
    Thanks
    Gurushanthi

    Hi Gurushanthi,
It could one of several problems, examples:
    - A firewall setting
    - http communication out disabled by Basis team or
    - The logical port wasn't configured correctly.
Try the suggestions in this thread to narrow down the reason (particularly the telnet test from the server):
