Consume from JMS Topic SOA 10g

I have a BPEL that is supposed to run when something is enqueued to a topic. It is supposed to dequeue it and then transform it etc.
I enqueue something onto that topic, but it is never dequeued by my service. I'm sure there are many reasons why this could be happening, but I don't know what they are.
Could someone please list the reasons this could be happening, and also ways to fix it.

Hi,
It is usually a configuration problem, have a look at the .jca file, see what is in there for "location" and for "destination", compare those with the jndi name of your topic. There is configuration to be done in your jms adapter on weblogic admin console, check the configuration of your jms adapter under deployments.
Cheers,
Vlad

  • Jms adapter not polling messages from jms topic

    Hi
    We have a jms adapter configured in BPEL process which need to poll messages from JMS topic.Unfortunately its not polling message from JMS Topic if we add Message Selector and Durable Subscriber properties in jca file.Please find jca file content below
    <adapter-config name="SyncCustomerPartyListCDHJMSConsumer" adapter="JMS Adapter" wsdlLocation="oramds:/apps/AIAMetaData/AIAComponents/ApplicationConnectorServiceLibrary/CDH/V1/ProviderABCS/SyncCustomerPartyListCDHProvABCSImpl.wsdl" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
      <connection-factory location="eis/jms/aia/syncCustomerParty_cf" UIJmsProvider="WLSJMS" UIConnectionName="Dev"/>
      <endpoint-activation portType="Consume_Message_ptt" operation="Consume_Message">
        <activation-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.jms.inbound.JmsConsumeActivationSpec">
          <!--property name="DurableSubscriber" value="XYZ"/-->
          <property name="PayloadType" value="TextMessage"/>
          <!--property name="MessageSelector" value="Target in ('XYZ')"/-->
          <property name="UseMessageListener" value="true"/>
          <property name="DestinationName" value="jms/aia/Topic.jms.COMMON.CustomerParty.PUBLISH"/>
        </activation-spec>
      </endpoint-activation>
    </adapter-config>
    If we remove Durable subscriber and message selector properties,its able to poll messages.
    Any pointer will help
    thanks in advance
    Baji

    After changing below property in jca file.JMS adapter is able to poll messages from JMS Topic.
    <property name="UseMessageListener" value="false"/>
    But if i un comment below line and deploy my code again, it stop pulling the messages from topic.
    <property name="DurableSubscriber" value="XYZ"/>
    If i bounce the server after above change and deployment ,it will start polling the message.I am not sure why i need to restart my server after adding above property.
    Thanks

  • Concurrent nodes reading from JMS topic (cluster environment)

    Hi.
    Need some help on this:
    Concurrent nodes reading from JMS topic (cluster environment)
    Thanks
    Denis

    After some thinking, I noted the following:
    1 - It's correct that only one node subscribes to a topic at a time. Otherwise, the same message would be processed by the nodes many times.
    2 - In order to solve the load balancing problem, I think that the Topic should be changed by a Queue. This way, each BPEL process from the node would poll for a message, and as soon as the message arrives, only one BPEL node gets the message and take if off the Queue.
    The legacy JMS provider I mentioned in the post above is actually the Retek Integration Bus (RIB). I'm integrating Retek apps with E-Business Suite.
    I'll try to configure the RIB to provide both a Topic (for the existing application consumers) and a Queue (an exclusive channel for BPEL)
    Do you guys have already tried to do an integration like this??
    Thanks
    Denis

    I have extracted the payload and validated against the xsd, it looks fine and even the validator doesnt throw me any error.
    But I guess I am missing something, which I am immediately not getting.
    Please let me know, if I am soemthing here which is causing this erro.
    Thanks,
    Chandru

    I searched about this error, but no luck.
    First time when the message dequeues, the consumer can consume the message but throws the error in the log.
    But when I put the message back into queue from archive directory, the consumer doesnt consume message and throws me the same error.
    Does anyone faced this sort of issue.
    I checked my xsd throughly, and validated it externally. but didnt fine any error.
    if anyone knows, suggest me how to resolve this issue.
    thanks & regards

  • Using JMS in soa 10g

    hi,
    can anybody explain how to create JMS queue is implemented in soa 10g.
    currently i have configured jms destination, but that is not being displayed while i am configuring the jms adapter in the jdeveloper.

    What is the nested stack trace for the error mentioned? If you don't see any make sure you enable debug logging for adapters...

  • Get back the Message from JMS Topic

    Hi,
    I want to Process message came to the JMS topic (say for past 10 days) in PRODUCTION environment . Is there any way i can get those messages from Persistent Store(File/JDBC).Any sugesstions????
    thanks in advance...

    As far as I think you can not directly read messages from persistence store without putting the message integrity at stake.
    Also, do you know if the messages are actually in the persistence store? Messages will persisted by the Topic only if there is any durable subscriber is there which has not read those messages. If there are no durable subscribers or if all durable subscribers have read their copy of the message from Topic the messages will be removed from persistence storage.

  • Receive asynchronous message from JMS  topic over web service

    Hi,
    I have a JMS topic and I want to expose it as a web service so that clients can
    make durable subcription to the topic and receive messages asynchronously. What
    is the best way of doing this ? Is there a portable (to other containers) way
    of do this ? If not, is there a web logic specific way of doing this ?
    Thanks,
    Siva

    So you expect clients to be receiving SOAP messages over HTTP? In this
    case, the clients are really servers that are capable of servicing SOAP
    requests, correct? And how about the senders: are they also using
    SOAP/HTTP to send messages that are delivered to the receivers?
    It should be possible to write this yourself using JMS not as the
    transport, but as a mechanism for distributing the message to a set of
    clients. You'll need to implement a Web Service for publishing to a
    topic, an operation for registering an end point to recieve messages,
    and an MDB (or other form of JMS subscriber) executing on the server to
    relay the message to the end point.

  • Exception in the XML consuming from JMS Queue

    In the CEP application we have a business flow like we want to consume an xml message from the JMS queue.
    While CEP is consuming the message sometimes we are getting an exception.
    But this issue occurs rarely and we have no idea about the root cause.
    I am attaching the trace of this exception.
    It seems this exception is from weblogic server itself.
    Also this could be an interface problem, since its showing a casting error.
    The Bug description:
    When we send a meter event through SOAP UI in the CEP visualizer when the event is consumed CEP also shows this exception.
    This may not halt the analysis process of the event, but this unwanted piece of code/lines have to be avoided.

  • SOA 10g JMS adapter does not pick up large messages in Oracle AQ

    I am using SOA 10g 10.1.3.4 MLR #9. When I enqueue a large JMS message ( of type SYS.AQ$_JMS_TEXT_MESSAGE ) into the AQ from SOA 11g it goes into the TEXT_LOB portion of the USER_DATA column in AQ. In addition to this GROUPID and GROUPSEQ do not seem to get set. When that happens, my JMS adapterfrom SOA 10g does not seem to dequeue the message. But if I enqueue the same message using sql and set the GROUPID and GROUPSEQ my JMS adapter from 10g picks up the clob message.
    How do we make the 10g adapter always pick up the large message in TEXT_LOB? I don't have this problem when the message is small because it goes into TEXT_VC field instead of TEXT_LOB field.

    We are having this problem and have not figured it out yet. We need help. An oracle SR is opened but no progress from Oracle yet. I need to get some traction on this so anyone's help is appreciated. Our suspicion is that the AQ client in the wls 10.3.1 is incorrectly choosing to put the xml payload in TEXT_LOB even though the character size is less than 4000.
    Here is a summary of our observations....
    Today we did some testing with our old 6.3.1 OSM environment and our new 7.0.2 environment. We tested each against our QA1 environment and then our QA2 environment. Scenrio 1 is our problem. Scenario 2,3,and 4 all behave similar to each other. Why does Scenario 1 behave differently. It is causing AIA a problem when it dequeues the message.
    Scenario 1:
    We pointed our 7.0.2 OSM/Weblogic 10.3.1/Out of the Box AQ (which is part of our QA1 environment) to send messages to the AIA AQ table in our QA1 environment. The AIA database uses ALT32UTF8 character set. We don't know what character set the 7.0.2 OSM/Weblogic/AQ uses. Wehn we sent messages to the AIA QA1 table we saw that everything under TEXT_LEN 1000 went to TEXT_VC, Over 1000 went to TEXT_LOB. This is causes AIA to throw an exception if the message is over 1000 when it dequeus the message, because it thinks it shoudl look in the TEXT_VC which is null for AIA.
    Scenario 2:
    We pointed our 7.0.2 OSM/Weblogic 10.3.1/Out of the box AQ (which is part of our QA1 environment) to send messages to the AIA AQ table in our QA2 enviornment. The AIA database uses UTF8 character set. We don't know what character set the 7.0.2 OSM/Weblogic/AQ uses. When we sent messages to the AIA QA2 AQ table we saw that everything under TEXT_LEN 4000 went to TEXT_VC. Over 4000 went to TEXT_LOB. This is fine for us.
    Scenario 3:
    We pointed our 6.3.1 OSM/Weblogic 9.2.1/Custom AQ Solution (which is part of our QA2 environment) to send messages to the AIA AQ table in our QA2 environment. The AIA database uses UTF8 character set. We don't know what character set the 6.3.1 OSM/Weblogic/AQ uses. When we sent messages to the AIA QA2 AQ table we saw that everything under TEXT_LEN 4000 went to TEXT_VC. Over 4000 went to TEXT_LOB. This is fine for us.
    Scenario 4:
    We pointed our 6.3.1 OSM/Weblogic 9.2.1/Custom AQ Solution (which is part of our DEVINT1 environment) to send messages to the AIA AQ table in our QA1 enviornment. The AIA database uses ALT32UTF8 character set. We don't know what character set the 6.3.1 OSM/Weblogic/AQ uses. When we sent messages to the AIA QA1 AQ table we saw that everything under TEXT_LEN 4000 went to TEXT_VC. Over 4000 went to TEXT_LOB. This is fine for us.

  • How to retreive all unconsumed messages from a topic with a MDB?

    Hello!
    I have a webapp that stores TextMessages in a Topic in WebLogic.
    I have an ejbapp (Message driven bean) that reads messages from the topic.
    If both are up and running the ejbapp reads all messages sent from the webapp to the topic.
    But if I stop the ejbapp for a while and sends a couple of messages to the topic and then deploy the ejbapp again, then the ejbapp does not read the unconsumed messages. If I send a new message to the topic the ejbapp reads that new messages but it does not get the previous messages that are on the topic.
    Is this the way it should work? Or could I get the message driven bean to consume all the messages that it has not consumed from the topic when it starts?

    I am not much familiar with Weblogic, but i would suggest, you do a search for how to setup "Durable Subscriptions" in Weblogic. This will ensure the the messages that were sent when the consumer was not available, will be delivered once the consumer is available

  • How to retrive all unread messages from a topic?

              My weblogic-ejb-jar.xml looks like:
              <pre><!DOCTYPE weblogic-ejb-jar PUBLIC '-//BEA Systems, Inc.//DTD WebLogic 8.1.0 EJB//EN' 'http://www.bea.com/servers/wls810/dtd/weblogic-ejb-jar.dtd'>
              <weblogic-ejb-jar>
              <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
              <ejb-name>OrderManagerMDB</ejb-name>
              <message-driven-descriptor>
              <pool>
              <max-beans-in-free-pool>200</max-beans-in-free-pool>
              <initial-beans-in-free-pool>20</initial-beans-in-free-pool>
              </pool>
              <destination-jndi-name>jms/OrdersTopic</destination-jndi-name>
              <connection-factory-jndi-name>jms/OrdersConnectionFactory</connection-factory-jndi-name>
              </message-driven-descriptor>
              <enable-call-by-reference>True</enable-call-by-reference>
              </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
              </weblogic-ejb-jar></pre>
              And my ejb-jar.xml looks like:
              <pre><!DOCTYPE ejb-jar PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0//EN' 'http://java.sun.com/dtd/ejb-jar_2_0.dtd'>
              <ejb-jar>
              <enterprise-beans>
              <message-driven>
              <ejb-name>OrderManagerMDB</ejb-name>
              <ejb-class>brownbagwarehouse.OrderManagerMDB</ejb-class>
              <transaction-type>Container</transaction-type>
              <acknowledge-mode>Auto-acknowledge</acknowledge-mode>
              <message-driven-destination>
              <destination-type>javax.jms.Topic</destination-type>
              </message-driven-destination>
              </message-driven>
              </enterprise-beans>
              </ejb-jar></pre>
              My MDB onMessage looks like:
              <pre>public void onMessage(Message message)
                   try
                        TextMessage textMessage = (TextMessage)message;
                        System.out.println(textMessage.getText());
                   catch(Exception e)
                        e.printStackTrace();
              </pre>
              Best regards
              Fredrik

    For subscriptions to continue to exist even while no subscriber is attached they need to be "durable". See the EJB programmer's guide, and search for "durable" in the MDB doc.
              In JMS terminology these are termed "durable subscriptions".

  • Invoke Error while inserting consumed JMS Topic msg in table thru DBadapter

    Hi All,
    To brief abt my requirement, I am integrating Peoplesoft HRMS module with Oracle SOA i.e.,
    +
    1. PS HRMS module will publish a JMS msg into a JMS Topic
    2. I will consume the same msg using JMS adapter consume operation in my SOA project
    3. The Payload(msg) is coming into RECEIVE activity and thru ASSIGN activity invoking the DB adapter to insert the msg into a table.
    4. INVOKE activity is throwing the below error(along with the error, able to see the payload in INVOKE activity )
    <part name="summary"> +
    <summary>*Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'insert' failed due to: Mapping Not Found Exception. The mapping [EMPLID] for descriptor [class insert.Employee] could not be found. The input xml record had an element [Employee/EMPLID]. Most likely the wrong xml input variable (not matching the expected xsd) was passed to this invoke. Make sure that the input xml is valid relative to the xsd and that the mapping exists in the Mappings.xml. If an old version of the descriptor without this mapping has been loaded by the database adapter, you may need to bounce the app server. If the same descriptor is described in two separate Mappings.xml files, make sure both versions include this attribute/mapping. ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution. *</summary>
    </part>
    Please, provide some suggestions.
    Regards,
    Satya

    Hi Satya,
    Try replacing the Assign activity with a Transform acitivity.
    Also please check the schema that comes of the DB adapter is having the similar sort of definition that you are getting in your input.
    What I mean is to check for length of fields, type of the fields etc.
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • How to remove a message from a Topic before it's consumed?

    Hi All,
              I'm using Weblogic JMS Extensions to publish messages to a topic so
              that consumers do not receive them for at least 1 hour after
              publishing. My problem is that I need to be able to delete selected
              messages from the topic sometimes before the consumers see it. I've
              looked everywhere but can't see a simple way of achieving this. Have I
              missed the obvious? (I hope I have!).
              Many thanks in advance.

    Essentially, the messages do not exist until that hour. There is
              currently no way to consume them.

  • Data retrieval from JMS queue using single SOA composite in a clustered env

    Hi,
    I have following situation:
    1) A requester SOA composite (Composite1)is reading data from a File
    2) Mediator is routing data received from Composite1 and writing in a JMS queue.
    3) A provider composite (Composite2) is reading from the JMS queue.
    Both Composite1 and Composite2 is deployed in a clustered environment.
    Problem is Composite2 is not able to read data sequentially from JMS Queue sometime (for example out of 30000 transactions its failing once). Here it's a queue and only one producer and only one consumer is there.
    What may cause this issue? I thought a single producer and single consumer on a queue will guarantee FIFO retrieval . Could you please advise where may be the gap?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I thought a single producer and single consumer on a queue will guarantee FIFO retrieval Java Message Service Specification does not guarantee ordered message delivery when applications use distributed queues...
    Using Weblogic Message Unit-of-Order may solve your issue...
