Consuming an external webservice

Hi,
    I have a scenario where where I have to consume a websevice from a partner. I can use SOAP over Http/https to connect to their system.
I would like to know if there any additional settings required for connecting to the external system other than the configurations of the channel in the directory for http.
What are the steps required to make it  a https connection?
Regards

  • Consume external WebService inside BW

    Hi,
    does anybody know how to consume an external webservice inside BW ?
    Thanks,
    Max

    You have two options:
    1. Make use of XI.
    2. Use the XML interface in BW.
    refer:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21d8aa90-0201-0010-5e83-a3798b9a5ee0
    this document shows u to transfer XML data to BW.
    If you are on BI7 then create a RDA XML datasource and integrate your web service to that:

  • Help: consuming an external web service with user name token

    Hello Together!
    I need to consume an external web service secured with WS-UserNameToken. The way, how did I do it:
    1. I generated a web service consumer (proxy) in SE80 from the wsdl file
    2. I created logical port for the consumer in SOAMANAGER
    3. I created security profile in WSSPROFILE with telpmate SET_USERNAME and assigned it to consumer operation in LPCONFIG  (I use LPCONFIG, because I didn't find any way to do it in SOAMANAGER)
    3. I called the web service and got the error back:  session token is missing or invalid or has inspired
    My questions are:
    1. is this possible to consume an external webservice in SAP, which is secured with WS-Usernametoken?
    2. do I need therefore any settings in java stack? do I need java stack in general?
    3. Is this any way to configure the consumer without writing programs, which set header parameter manually?
    4. if the answer on the third question is no, do you have any examples, how to implement session management in report? (I mean sending session id and checking the validaty of id)
    I appriciate any help of you!
    best regards Anna

    Hi,
    it should be possible to use WS-UserNameToken for consuming web service. It should be available on AS BAP 7.0 and higher. This profile should be under category Document authentication. You can try to dump a message send from SAP to see what is going out of SAP. This should be supported in ABAP so you don't need a Java stack. What exactly do you want to configure? Do you want to just set user name and password for that service which will be used for any calls of that proxy?
    Cheers

    Hi all,
    Iam consuming an external webservice by creating a proxy and created a logical port for it. But while passing data to extenal webservice, it is asking for authentication(userid and password)as they have provided to access their server. So, where can i enter those authentication details in sap system

    i have followed the below steps and ended up with an error
    Steps:
    1) created a Adaptive web service model
    2) got the WSDL source from "Remotelocation/fileSystem"
    3) given the WSDL URL Acess as "e:///C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\BORM_API_A1S_GET_UPD_SW_VECTOR.wsdl"
    4) created a service group
    5) then i have done the " model to controller" binding and "controller to view" binding
    6) in the INIT method of controller i have creted the instance of the model and binded it to the context element
    7) set some some values in the init methiod(for input parameters)
    8) designed a view to get the values that are set into the input parameters

  • Consuming external webservice in an automated activity

    hi,
    i am consuming a bapi based webservice in an automated activity. i have checked this in wsnavigator using WSDL, it is working fine. when i consume this in my process dc , it asks me to create aService group. i have created one and now deployed dc to server. it doesn't work and in log error it shows that thsi service group is not assigned to any physical system.
    now i tried to create a business scenario communication, for this i created provider systems (it was created and pinged sucessfully, showed all the web services lying in its service registry). when i was creating business scenario, under first step credentials of service group and provider systems are provided. unser second step when i tried to add the services it didn't showed the services which it showed me while i pinged.
    please tell me how to sucessfully consume an external web service (bapi based).This is lying on SR but when i tried to access it through single service administration, it was not there. please guide me how can i sucessfully consume this webservice (using service group or logical destination).
    Thanks In Advance.

    Hi Rohit,
    try with Application Communication Configuration instead of Business Scenario (should be easier for single service). Make sure you have entered the correct credentials for the backend system (both for metadata retrieval and for runtime invocation).
    Instead of Service Registry you can also try with WSIL when creating the provider system. The WSIL URL for the ABAP system should look like this: http://host:port/sap/bc/srt/wsil.
    Please also check the SOA config guide by Alexander Zubev:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40dabb46-dd66-2b10-1a9a-81aa620098b3

    The SAP version that we are using is ECC 5.0. And the URL that they have given me to consume has some .svc extension.

  • BPEL or OSB consume external webservices

    Hello all ,
    After I look over documentation and - Getting Started With Oracle SOA Suite 11g R1: A Hands-On Tutorial: Fast-Track Your SOA Adoption: Build a Service-Oriented Composite Application in Just Hours - still is not clear how can I consume a web-service hosted on other system - for example Websphere or SharePoint .
    I had a example one web service register
    <service name="DonateBeanService">
    <port binding="tns:DonateBeanPortBinding" name="DonateBeanPort">
    <soap:address location="http://localhost:8888/TestTopDown/services/DonateBeanPort"/>
    </port>
    </service>
    on my WAS CEE server .
    When I tried to made a business service in OSB - I imported the wsdl - create a new business service -add monitor capabilities but the call is not made to the service endpoint .
    Also inside BPEL how can I invoke a external webservice .
    Can anyone help me please with some points or advices ? What is wrong in the approach ? In the end OSB capabilities should allow me to integrate with other systems very easy .
    Many thanks in advance for all .
    And a HAPPY NEW YEAR .
    Best regards,
    Stefan

    how can invoke from inside a BPEL the same service ? or in the BPEL is better to have only local web-services BPEL can also invoke the same service. To know more about BPEL, please refer -

    And the last one - if I need to read information from a file and send parameters to this webservice - how I will do it on the OSB ?Create a messaging type/Any XML proxy service in OSB with FILE/FTP transport (as per your requirement). In message flow of proxy service you may use XQuery/XSLT/MFL to transform the content of the pulled file into the XML required for calling web-service. Use communication actions to call business service from proxy service message flow. You may like to refer -

  • Error at creating Client Proxy of external webservice (WSDL)

    Hi Experts,
    I try to create a Client Proxy Object out of an external webservice. Here is the WSDL URL:
    [http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?wsdl]
    I try to create it with this URL and then I get the error message
    Not implemented
    Exception of class CX_SIDL_INTERNAL_ERROR
    I found two other threads with a similar problem:
    cunsuming external webservice in ABAP
    Problem while consuming external webservice
    But there is no solution that worked for me. In the first thread it is mentioned, that the code between
    <wsdl:binding name="XXXXHttpGet" type="tns:XXXHttpGet">
    and it's closing brackets should be removed in a local file. I tried that and was able to create a client proxy object out of this local wsdl-file. But then I called the webservice with the folling coding for testing:
    report  z_currency_converter.
    data: convert type ref to zzzco_currency_convertor_soap.
    try.
        create object convert
      exporting
        logical_port_name  = 'Z_LP'
      catch cx_ai_system_fault .
    endtry.
       data: output type zzzconversion_rate_soap_out  .
       data: input type zzzconversion_rate_soap_in .
       input-from_currency = 'EUR'.
       input-to_currency = 'USD'.
    try.
    call method convert->conversion_rate
      exporting
        input  = input
      importing
        output = output
    catch cx_ai_system_fault .
    catch cx_ai_application_fault .
    endtry.
    write output-conversion_rate_result.
    The same code worked fine in another system. In this "older" system could also create a client proxy, I think because it has a newer Support Pack version.
    SAP says the following:
    The problem is that this WSDL uses two bindings different from SOAP
    binding which is not in conformance with Basic Profile 1.1 -
    http://www.ws-i.org/Profiles/BasicProfile-1.1.html#WSDLBINDINGS .
    I looked in the document, but I do not know where the problem in the WSDL file exactly is. What have I to change? Or can somebody give me the URL of a free webservice, that you used for creating a client proxy with a new support pack standing? In the "old" system there is not yet the SOAMANAGER but in the one where it doesn't work.
    I hope you have an idea.
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Ingmar

    I think it is the problem of version.U need to ask SAP to release some patch levels to correct it.

  • Execute external WebService from abap

    Hi Gurus!
    Is it possible to execute an external WebService from an abap function/program without using the XI?
    Best regards,
    Adriano

    you can do this.
    if you are on WAS6.4 there is a tool available within ABAP work bench to generate client proxy.
    if you are on WAS 6.20 then you have to use class cl_http_client to consume the webservice,
    check out the following weblogs for code sample

  • Consuming an External Web Service using HTTPS and WS Security

    Hello everyone,
    I'm having a problem setting the security information in a SOAP header using a generated ABAP Client Proxy to consume an external web service that requires a User ID and Password in the Header section of the SOAP message.  I need to use HTTPS. I'm on a WAS 7.01 SP08 system so from my readings, SAP is supposed to be able to add the username and password into the header section of the message.  I can't seem to get SAP to add this information added to the header.
    Here are the steps that I have taken to set the security values.
    1) Created the client proxy from the WSDL in SE80.  Basic Authentication on the Configuration tab was turned on automatically.
           Note, Transport Security is set to None.  I cannot change it.
    2) Created an outbound set user name profile in transaction WSPROFILE with the appropriate username and password.
    3) Added the profile to the default port in transaction LPCONFIG as an outbound under the WS Security section of the screen.
    When I called the external Web Service, I got back the following error message:
    com.ibm.wsspi.wssecurity.SoapSecurityException: WSEC5509E: A security token whose type is [http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#UsernameToken] is required.
    So, after reading through this Forum, I saw that I needed to use the SOAMANAGER.  I set up a Proxy in the SOAMANAGER and manually created the Logical Port.  This was the only way I could figure out how to set the Authentication Settings in the Logical Port to "User ID / Password".  I then entered the User ID and Password.
    However, I am still getting the same error message.  I feel I am close but missing some small configuration to tell SAP to use WS Security with a Username token.
    I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    I had this error again so I thought I would post my solution:
    The issue is SAP needs to know the certificates being used by the web site being called.  These certificates are automatically installed in your browser but need to be manually installed in SAP.  This is what I did:
    How to find/install new certificates
    Make sure you run Internet Explorer as an Administrator so you can export the certificates
    Go to the web site that SAP is trying to call in Internet Explorer
    Double click on the lock in the address bar
    View certificates
    Find the certificates that are being used
    Tools --> Internet Options --> Content --> Certificates
    Click on the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab
    Find the certificate identified in step iii
    Export as a CER certificate
    Click on the “Intermediate Certification Authorities” tab
    Find the certificate identified in step iii
    Export as a CER certificate
    Go to STRUST in SAP
    Import the Certificates in the “Anonymous” or “Standard” SSL client
    Save
    RESTART the ICM via t-code SMICM  <-- Critical!!!

  • How To : Call External Webservice from BPEL and pass SOAP Message to the WS

    Hello All-
    Greetings to all BPEL gurus. I am currently facing difficulties in calling an External Webservice from my BPEL Process and passing SOAP Message to it. The details are below:
    <strong>1. The BPEL process, using database polling feature of DB Adapter, will get the records from the database.</strong>
    <strong>2. Transform the message</strong>
    <strong>3. Call the External Webservice and pass the transformed message as the input to it. However the Webservice expects the BPEL process to send SOAP headers in the input message.</strong>
    I am struggling on how to put the transformed message within a SOAP envelope in the BPEL process.
    If anyone had similar requirements and have successfully been able to send SOAP messages from BPEL process to an external webservice, kindly let me know.
    Also if there is some kind of documentation or any link in the forum that I can refer, please let me know that as well.
    I am new to Webservice integration using BPEL and would really appreciate your help.
    Thanks In Advance
    Regards,
    Dibya

    Hi Dharmendra,
    I am trying to send a SOAP message from my BPEL process to a web service. I have a complete SOAP message in a complex variable defined in the wsdl for the partnerlink (web service). My problem is that when I invoke the partnerlink it fails even though the content shown in the BPEL console looks valid.
    I have set up obtunnel to see what I am actually sending out from BPEL. You mention that BPEL creates the SOAP envelope automatically.
    I think that my problem is a result of this automatic SOAP envelope that BPEL is creating. Do you know if there is a way to turn it off?
    This is what I see in the TCP monitor, please note the double SOAP env:Body:
