Contacts Crashing in Mountain Lion When Using Exchange
My contacts (address book) application now crashes after the update to mountain lion. Originally when I first upgraded it would not crash but I got a blank address book that was non functional. I tried deleting the account and readding it now it crashes.
Has anyone resolved this ?
I have deleted and readded the exchange account in the accounts list but that did not help.
*** Disclaimer: Be careful of this make sure you have a backup of your computer before doing this. I take no responsibility for anyone screwing up their data/computer ***
I solved my issue by
1. deleting all the accounts from the various settings (mail, contacts, unified login in settings)
2. going into ~/library/application support/addressbook
3. zip the folder up incase something goes wrong
4. deleting everything in the address folder.
5. going to the unified logins page and re-entering my exchange info.
Everything resynced and it worked.

When editing videos in Motion, I like to use the Audio parameters to have the filters react to the different amplitudes in the song. When using this combination. Motion runs extremely slow then crashes.
How much RAM is in that MBP?
I'd make sure you have at least 15% of your hard drive capacity as free space.
In the Render menu (top right of canvas) be sure to turn off everything you're not using (shadows, etc), and lower the resolution to make playback easier for your laptop. You can change these back to full resolutoin when you export.
You can try to trash Motion's pref files quickly and safely with "Preference Manager", free from Digital Rebellion (dot com).
If that doesn't work, move the Motion app from the Applications folder to the Trash. Launch the App Store, in the Purchased tab, click Install for Motion.
But be sure that MBP is maxed out on RAM for stuff like Motion. -
InDesign crashes on Mountain Lion when DontShowAgain dialog comes up.
Hi,
I am working on an InDesign plugin that is perfectly working on Windows and Mac(Leopard, Snow leopard & Lion). Now, when I'm using this plugin on Mountain Lion, InDesign crashes whenever Don'tShowAgain warning dialog comes up.
Can anyone help me out what can be the reason of crash on Mountain Lion.Mountain Lion I finally installed from scratch (erasing entire hard the computer). Once installed the system, the first thing I did
was install InDesign CS6 ... After install I open a file and InDesign automatically closed.
Finalmente he instalado Mountain Lion desde cero (borrando completamente el disco del ordenador). Una vez instalado el sistema, lo p

Mail crashes in mountain lion when printing
Hello
I have installed Mountain Lion and Mail crashes when printing. Mail itself runs fine. I tried reinstalling the printer drivers, resetting all passwords of the system, along with resetting privileges. I read through many feeds here on this situation, but nothing solved my problem – Mail keeps crashing when printing to any printerdriver or to a PDF file.
Did anyone encounter this problem?
Anyone has a fix for this?
Thanx for help
KarstenHalf a day later – all seemed to be solved – nothing goes. Mail crashes again when printing. Preview crashes as well when printing.
This looks like there is a serious bug in the OS itself, and nothing which can be cured permanently by changing some settings or updating some preferences. -
How can i use an external screen on mountain lion when i'm running on battery power?
Hey all:
I just upgraded from snow leopard to Mountain Lion, and i use external screen, keyboard and mouse all the time....
On Mountain Lion it's perfect when the power adaptor is connected as soon as you close the LID your external screen becomes the primary screeen and it's fully functional desktop (no mirroring or extension screen)
But the problem is when i'm in battery power, in snow leopard i used to close my lid my mac goes to sleep then i wake it up using the mouse and immediately open the LID so it doesn't go to sleep again and now i'm running on battery power with a primary external screen.
Any idea how to use an external screen on mountain lion while i'm on battery power? (i know i can use mirroring but i want just 1 primary screen and the laptop screen would be turned off )
Thanks for the help.....

Thanks again
You can't with the lid closed, that's one of the rules for clamshell mode.

I would like to import the .abcdp files from my old, restored HD (was running mountain lion when the mac crashed) to the addressbook of my new mac (10.9.5).
Please advise.I don't have access to one.
I don't understand why the new address book is not backwards compatible with the data from former OS X versions.
In 10.8. preview was still able to read the files although it was already impossible to import them into the address book. But Why? -
Finder crashes on mountain lion after upgrade
Hi, I know so many have the same problem
No one actually had a clue how to solve this yet, but use others to be like lab rats. If no one knows atleast don't answer or say we are working on it.
First let me explain what is my system in use and then what are the problems
I use MacBook Pro 5,5 4 gb ram 256 HDD
FIRST i used default OS which was snow leopard then I upgraded it with lion and at last mountain lion
Been using it for almost 3 years and had no problem before , no halt or crash nor even a bug with OS.
A week after a release I bought mountain lion and it looks the same with some new features but the problems are starting to show up 1 by one.
Most softwares are fine except the ones using finder for their run
Trash can, folders, and etc...
At first several minutes of using the OS everything works like clock work no problem, then with a wrong move like wanting to empty the trash can or any right click on finder for files or folders or quick view, finder crashes and when I use relaunch it will disappear and won't work anymore.
It's like a bad joke and no one seem to know exactly how to solve it and recommend downgrade !!!?????
If it was free I would not be asking this but why and it seems so many have the same problem .
There must be a upgrade for this or it will be useless. Why this is happening ?
I tried backup with disk utility but the funny thing is my HDD is only 260 gb and the HDD I plan for back up has 700 gb free space but it says the file is too big.
So I can not back up and I can not format because of my data . I hope soon someone finds a way ....

Ok, since upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I reply to an email from the Global Inbox it incorrectly selects just my main business email account, even if the email was sent to a completely different persoanl address. This use to work without issue in Lion. I have at least a half dozen accounts that all come into the "Global Inbox" and I never worried about what account I was replying from as it always matched the account the email was originally sent to.
Now in Mountain Lion, this is broken and no matter what email I select it defaults to my main account and I have to remember to manually select the proper reply address from the drop down menu. So far the only way to avoid this is the keep all the separate account Inboxes showing and then selecting the account that I want to view. Then when I repy it is to the correct address, but having to do this makes the "Global Inbox" view completely worthless! If I have to select teh correct Inbox to get the proper reply address every time then what is the point of having a Global View?
Why did you break this Apple?Hello,
When you compose a message right click on the attachement and choose "View as Icon".
I know there was a Terminal command to set all attachements as icons by default but never tried it :
- You can also use the Terminal (in your Applications folder > Utilities) quit Mail, and type in the Terminal :
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -boolean yes
- To restore the original settings type :
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -boolean no

Hope this will help. -
Sync Google Contacts with Entourage - Mountain Lion
Use Cobook and Google Contacts to sync contacts to my MacBook, iPad, and Android phone. Love it. Problem is how to get Google Contacts to sync with Entourage. Before I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I used Address Book sync and it worked fine. Since the upgrade, not working. Anyone have ideas that can help?
Can't you export Google contacts as vCards > place on microSD in Asha 501 > Copy contacts > Import to phone > Files > Search for file where it has been saved on your device, and then choose it. You will get the message “Start importing contacts to your phone?” hit ‘Yes’.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0 -
I have a macbook pro with OSX 10.5.8. How do I upgrade to Mountain Lion when it is available? I need to upgrade to run quickbooks and other apps
First, you need Snow Leopard (10.6): http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A. Then you use Software Update to update it to 10.6.8. When Mountain Lion (10.8) comes out, find it in the Mac App Store.

I would like to install Mountain Lion when it comes out...
I have a late 2010 MBA 13 with 2GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD running OSX Snow Leopard. I'd like to install Mountain Lion when it comes out. I've heard that I must have OSX Lion first. I've always backed up my Mac using Time Machine to an external HDD, and the backups are current. My question is, I'd like a successful install of Lion, so that when ML comes out, I can buy and install that. My computer has two seperate user accounts, one for my wife and one for myself. We both use this computer and I don't want to mess any of her files, settings, etc up with either upgrade.
Would I be safe performing a backup, then buying Lion from the Mac App Store and installing it? What problems would I run into? When ML comes out, will that be an easy upgrade also?
RyanYou actually DON'T need to have Lion installed in order to installed Mountain Lion. You can do it right from Snow Leopard.
But if you want to install Lion beforehand(which at this point I would just say to wait for ML), then yes, backup your Macintosh HD to an external hard drive or just use Time Machine, and that will back up both user accounts. -
After installation Mountain Lion, when saved in map content in disorder
Hello anyone,
I haven a question, after installation Mountain Lion, when saved an item in a folder the content of the folder is disarranged, everthing is in disorder!
Not always but now and again, anyone know what to do?
thanks, RonYou need to look in your user Library/Preferences for the .plist. Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Delete the .plist.
Force quit Finder (command - option-esc). Hopefully the changes will now be permanent.
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.
Since the problem only occurs randomly, the only test will be time. -
12/13/2014 I suddenly no longer stream videos because of a blocked plug in on my Mac Safari 5.1.10 MacOSX 10.6.8
updated to snow leopard& mountain lion I use adobe flash. My preferences allow all plug ins.If my experience with a similarly aged computer is any indicator, you'll notice an immediately speed hit once you've upgraded to Mavericks. Each OS X update tends to be more memory hungry than the previous and my 2007 iMac wasn't happy with Lion until I upgraded the RAM and at that point Lion performance roughly matched Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion and then Mavericks shaved some speed off again. Mavericks on the 2007 iMac was okay for the most part but switching between applications was slow as was the fileselector.
My 2009 MBP saw similar slowdowns with Lion but I was above to upgrade it to 8GB which made a big difference. (My iMac was limited to 6GB) but I still saw a significant speed hit with Mt Lion when I tried to run multiple memory intensive applications. Seeing how my wife's MacBook Air dealt with Mt Lion with only 4GB I decided to install an SSD in the MBP and wow what a difference. Tried it with the iMac using a FireWire800 enclosure and saw similar improvement.
So to boil it down to one sentence, you are going to see a significant speed hit with only 4GB but if you can afford to upgrade your drive to an SSD you'll be amazed at how well that computer can run. -
Since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion, when I login 1 of 2 disk images I have set to open on login does not mount. It worked under Lion. Stickies opens just fine. The disk images are sparse disk bundles. Are there any suggested remedies? I have already tried repairing permissions. One interesting thing is that previously in LIon, the disk images were just sparse images, not sparse bundles. I switched to bundles after reading that Time Machine backups of sparse bundles would not copy the entire image, only the changed parts. The sprase images are for sharing of photo and iTUnes libraries among multiple family member on the same computer.
If it is working as expected, what do you need with the old backup?
If you want to be able to go back to where you were prior to an upgrade, isolate that backup and don't use it again. As far as Time Machine can tell, the whole drive changed.
The link I posted contains probably everything that anybody knows about Time Machine and how to manipulate it to work as you would like as opposed to how it was designed to work. There are FAQs to continue a backup as opposed to starting fresh, but I wouldn't recommend it for the reasons above. Pondini probably doesn't, either.
If you are going to do a wholesale upgrade of the OS, I would create a bootable clone using something like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. A bootable clone on an external drive can have you back up and running instantly if the upgrade fails in any way. If the upgrade goes fine, store it away in case you find the current system isn't to your liking. -
