Contacts - print address labels for a family instead of several individuals - i.e. "Smith Family" instead of Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith

Greetings
I'm trying to print out address labels for Christmas cards. Is there a way to print out one for an entire family instead of everyone separately as individuals? For instance, I have a separate entry for Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith. I'd like to print out one label that is for "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" or "Smith Family."
Is there a way to do this? I suppose I could just do a company that is "Smith Family", but I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
Thanks!
John

I think you may want to export your contact list to Excel (or Google docs) or another format where you can edit the list (remove names, change fields, etc.).
Once you have a clean list that has all the names in a clean format that you want to print onto the labels then you import that spreadsheet or document into a program that has label making abilities and a mail merge feature.
What type of labels are you using?
There are several label programs out there that have mail merge capabilities and labeling support.  I am happy to provide some recommendations once I understand your needs.

  • Printing Address Label

I am wanting to print address labels for Christmas that only show the Husband, Wife and Last Name. ie. John and Mary Smith along with the address. IF I have the children's names shown in "Address Book" inside of John and Mary's contact information, the label prints out ALL of the childrens' names as well. ie. John and Mary Smith, Larry, Susan, Todd, Ann along with the address. How do I just print the husband and wife's name and address without all the children's names?

    Tony Frank wrote:
I don't see what you mean "they don't print." The Other name IS printed when printing Labels, but in the form: John Smith and Mary.
Figured this one out - it will print AS LONG AS THE LAST NAME IS THE SAME. So "Test Case" and "Mister Test Case" as spouse works; Joe Smith and Kathy Harris as spouse does not. Apple apparently is supporting the patriarchy in that regard.
In any event duplicating a group is as easy as copy/paste.
Simply select the group in the Group column, Copy, then Paste. The group is copied with the original name "- Copy". Presto! All the cards are duplicated.
Right, but this does not eliminate the labor necessary to edit individual cards to correct for the problem noted above - the vast majority of my cards are not simple same-surname pairings, so most of them will have to be corrected by hand. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and do it knowing that it will be a one-time investment.

  • Need help Printing Address labels from Address Book

I have a new iMac using OS X.4 1. I want to print address labels for Christmas cards. 2. I want to print several address labels of the same information for return address labels. I can't seem to figure it out. I've read the Help. I don't see where to put the # of labels per page. I created a Directory with only one name it it (so it would print several times on one page.) I selected Avery Standard - label 5162. Under label I selected Distribution List. I seem to be missing something.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I wanted to do the same thing. The only way I was able to do this was to create a new group, then enter my name and address 30 times (the number of labels per sheet on Avery 8160). Then I was able to print as many sheets as I wanted. The bad news is you have to enter 30 times, the good news is once you done it you can print as many labels as you need. good luck

  • Mail merge prints two labels for some contacts. Why?

We use a Mail Merge from our Contacts.app to print mailing labels for Christmas cards. FWIW, our Contacts are kept in sync with a Gmail account. (This hasn't proven faultless, but that's a topic for another time.) For many Contacts, where *only one address is listed*, two address labels are printed. I cannot determine how to avoid this waste of paper. Suggestions?

Hi Daniel, and a warm welcome to the forums!
After all those progress bars, have the other PDF files been saved elsewhere?
Did you check if it might be one big multi-page PDF?

  • How can I print address labels from numbers spread sheet

How can I print address labels from numbers spread sheet

    CAB,
The 5163 template has the following dimensional specs:
    Dimensions & Info
    Length: 4.00000"          Height: 2.00000"
Top Margin: 0.50000"          Bottom Margin: 0.50000"
Left Margin: 0.18000"          Right Margin: 0.18000"
Hor. Spacing (gutter): 0.14000"          Vert. Spacing (gutter): 0.00000"
Intended Use: Mailing Labels, Shipping Labels, Address Labels
There's a great vendor site with this data readily available, better than the Avery site in my opinion. But, you can get the same info in the Contacts Print dialog pane.
You can grab a template matching these dimensions from that vendor site, Copy the table after opening the Word Template in Pages and drop the into a blank Numbers Sheet.
I found that Sheet side margins of 0.15" worked better than 0.18. For some reason the table wanted to flow to the next page to the right with 0.18". Turning off the Headers and Footers and setting Top and Bottom Margins to 0.5" worked well. These adjustments are made in the Sheets Inspector.
So, that will put the template you specified into a Numbers document and you can print labels properly aligned from there. Since your problem statement is a bit lacking in detail, that's all I can offer you at this point.

  • Printing address label using Print Shop 2 program

Hello, I have a iMac ox 10.6.8 and have been printing address labels.  The problem is the image and address do not align "CENTERED" when printing. The image/address are either Higher on the label or lower on the label. There not an even border within the label.   Got any ideas as how I can fix this?
    Darryl (Personal information removed)

    Hi @Macdog64,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that the image and address do not align "CENTERED" when printing on Avery Labels 8160 when using your HP Deskjet 6540. I am happy to help you with this printing issue!
Please see this guide, Formatting & Printing Tips, through the Avery website.
Otherwise, I would recommend contacting Avery Support. Help Center | Avery, as they may have some different software/drivers that you can use.
    Best of luck!

  • Use Numbers to print Address Labels

I know Excel allows you to export a spreadsheet to print labels with, but being a die-hard Apple guy, there's no way I'm going to fork over that much money for a M$ product when I have a perfectly good spreadsheet app right here.
Does anyone know of a way to use a Numbers spreadsheet to print address labels? I have a list of names and addresses that I want to print on some postcards but I can't seem to find an option to do that.
    Thanks

If I took time to build a script to do the trick it's because I undersatand that some users wish to be able to print labels from an other source than AddressBook.
But, given that, it's not because some users wish to have this feature available that the fact that it isn't is "inacceptable". Remember what is written in Apple Human Interface Guide.
    +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
    Apple Human Interface Guidelines:
    Apply the 80 Percent Solution
During the design process, if you discover problems with your product design, you might consider applying the 80 percent solution—that is, designing your software to meet the needs of at least 80 percent of your users. This type of design typically favors simpler, more elegant approaches to problems.
If you try to design for the 20 percent of your target audience who are power users, your design may not be usable by the other 80 percent of users. Even though that smaller group of power users is likely to have good ideas for features, the majority of your user base may not think in the same way. Involving a broad range of users in your design process can help you find the 80 percent solution.
    -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
It just seems that you doesn't fit in the 80%. Is it serious doctor ?

  • Packing slip and address label for delivery

    Hello all,
I have a business requirement where i want the delivery to generate packing slip and address label for delivery, once the TO picking is complete and updated in the delivery.
My first question - I would like to the configuration steps involved in making the delivery to print the required output types automatically .
and my second question is how the SAP system can be configured to make the delivery print the packing slip and address label for delivery automatically once the Picking status is updated in the delivery.
    Thanks,
    Maxx

    Hi Max,
You have to carry out your settings in:
SPRO > LE > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Output Control > Output Determination > Maintain Output Determination for Outbound Deliveries
    1) Maintain Access Sequence
    - you should have a valid access sequence with proper the condition tables
    2) Maintain Outout Types
    - you should have an output type with proper settings: print progrm, samrtform (or spascript, etc), etc
    - you output should be assigned to the proper access sequence
    3) Maintain Output Determination Procedure
    - you should have a valid procedure --> you have to assign your output type to the procedure
    - in field V_T683S_XX-KOBED you have to define a requirement type for your output type (that contains an ABAP code). This ensures that the output type will be generated only if the conditions defined in the ABAP code are met.
    4) Assign Ouput Determination Procedure
    - You have to assign the procedure to the delivery type you use
    Master Data
If your configuration is OK, you can create the output determination condition record in VV21:
    - you have to choose the proper key table
    - you have to define the proper conditions
    - you have to define the printer
    - you have to define number of outputs
    - etc
SPRO > LE > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Output Control > Output Determination > Define Requirements
    - Here the programmer can define the Requirement Type that can be assigned to the output type in the procedure.
    - You can use e.g. VBUK-PKSTK to check the packing status (VBUK-VBELN=LIKP-VBELN)
All the mentioned settings (config, master data) can be done in transacton NACE also (except writing the ABAP code).

    Csaba

  • Help...trying to print address labels from an excel document.  I only need info from some of the columns.  Using Avery labels.

Help...I'm trying to print address labels from an existing Excel document that opens fine in Numbers.  I don't want to print everything from the spreadsheet.  The Avery template and site were no help.  Any suggestions?

If you do not need all the excel specific items you can just write it to a spreadsheet using the write to spreadsheet file vi's.
If you want to go the excel route you will have to use active x. you can see a lot of examples on the excel board under the breakpoint forum. please post a sample of how you want your data to look and I can maybe help explain what options you have. and also oyu do not necesarily need the report generation toolkit.

  • Is there an easy way to print address labels or multiple envelopes from a group in the Address Book contacts?

What is the best way to make address labels from a group in my Address Book?
Or can I print multiple envelopes - for an entire "group" of addressees?

    Hi,
I am doing the same thing too. I have to call my reports thru menu. I tried web.show_document in my menu and it works. I also added paramform=yes and it gives the report parameters, but I want to give the user the choice of format for the reports. eg. pdf, html, excel, etc. instead of hardcoding it.
Could you please give me some idea on how can I do that??
    Thanks.

  • If i want to create and print address labels should i use contacts or a spreadsheet

I am new MAC user.  I want to create a separate contact and address list for my Christmas card list.  Should I use contacts or should I create a spreadsheet and do a mail merge? I am thinking Contacts should be easier to manage and maintain.
    Thanks
    Missy

As long as your contacts are in reasonable order and represent the people to be shown on mailing labels, I think you will find Contacts a much easier way to handle this. Starting with Office 2010 for Windows and probably carrying on to Office 2011:Mac, MS changed Mail Merge somehow and I now find it much less intuitive to use and you will have your futility exercised!
I maintain the computers for a small museum where I volunteer and used to do all the mailing label in Office 2007:Win. Then someone decided to upgrade the computers to Office 2010:Win and it now takes me three times as much time and three times the amount of ruined label pages to get what I can do at home on Office 2008:Mac in a few minutes.
If your list need a lot of editing--especially mailing format changes--you may be better off with the spreadsheet.

  • Trouble Printing Address Labels

I using the Canon Pixma MG 2120 printer.
I'm using Hallmark Card Studio 2012 with Avery 5160 trying to print a page of 30 address labels.
The Canon printer is making me print one label at a time even when I set it to print 30 labels.
My previous printer printed the 30 labels all at once.
Printing 1 label at a time is time consuming.
Do I have something set incorrectly? Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Hello Dawter.
Most Avery labels provide instructions or recommended "template" options to use when printing their labels.  Please check to see if an information slip or sheet was included with your labels.  This would give information on what label template to use.
If you continue to have difficulties, you may have to print the labels from a different program such as Microsoft Word.
