Content of SAPScript Symbol

Hello,
I have a problem printing an SAPScript-Symbol &wa_zpp_pro_auf-TEXT& which is of TYPE CHAR with lenght 70, that is the type of an SAPScript text name object. The structure wa_zpp_pro_auf has the type of a table defined in the Dictionary. The Debugging shows that the field of the structure ist filled and the syntax of the textelement is correct. If I directly write the name of the textobject in the SAPScript text it is printed without problem. So there is a problem transfering the data from ABAP to the SAPScript document. Has anybody an idea where the problem can be. Thanks.
Regards, Lars.

Hi Lars,
are you trying to dynamically print the contents of a text element which you have the name of in variable &wa_zpp_pro_auf-TEXT&? I'm not sure you can do that. If you refer to &wa_zpp_pro_auf-TEXT& I think you will just have the name of the text element rather than the actual text contents. Maybe there's some way to have a dynamic 'include'?
Stop Press:
if it is a dynamic include that you want you can actually
do it,
use: /: INCLUDE &wa_zpp_pro_auf-TEXT& OBJECT TEXT ID ST

Dear Mr. Toad (my all-time favorite ride at Disneyland ;-) ..
Thanks so much for your detailed reply.. my netbook is in the bedroom, turned off.. I (so far) only use it in the evening, in the bedroom.. I've saved your response, and will try your suggestions, and let you know if they solve the problem I described. I really appreciate you taking the time to post such a detailed reply..
I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..
    Thanks again..

  • SAPSCRIPT - Symbol for removing leading spaces/zero's?

    Hi,
How do you remove leading spaces/zeros in a variable that is sent from the print program?
Do you use symbols and if so, how (i've never worked with symbols, ever)?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    John

I think the "Z" symbol will remove the zeros in the sapscript form.  For example,......
    /     &EKKO-EBELN(Z)&

  • Sapscript symbol for a certain line containing variable characters

    Hi,
Can you tell me a symbol in sapscript that tells us the size of a certain line ?
Meaning that if I choose font Times new roman with size 10 and I have 30 characters, then the symbol can tell me how wide my line of 30 characters is. When I increase the font size to 20pt, obviously the width of the line of 30 chars will change, and the symbol should tell me how wide it is.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your reply.
If it is not possible for a symbol, then any solutions are ok. If you know any method that can help me, like function module, BAPI etc...please raise it. Any ideas are welcome.
If you want to know more details of my issue, so here's the description: I have to wrap the text for a column of a table in a form, but I only can adjust the numbers of characters when they are in upper case, so when they input text in lower case, there will be a space between the text and the rest of the column. If I adjust the character numbers of the wrap-text function due to lower case, then when people input the text in upper case, the text will be overflow the column.
Therefore the things I need to do are:
+ 1st: capture the column's width in the form, passing it to the program
+ 2nd: capture the paragraph format and character format of the input text
+ 3rd: calculate the length of the input text with those formats
+ 4th: wrap the text due to maximum space that the column can fit.
Here are my solution, and I'm getting stuck just from the very first step

  • Passing content of field symbol to internal table

    Hi experts,
I need to pass the content of a field symbol to a internal table. Below is the following structure of the field symbol and internal table. But I'm encountering a short dump:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF fint_frange,
            fieldname    LIKE rsdstabs-prim_fname,
            fieldtype(1) TYPE c,
            selopt_t     TYPE fint_selopt_t,
           END OF fint_frange.
    TYPES: fint_frange_t TYPE fint_frange OCCURS 10.
    CONSTANTS: lc_save_selections(31) TYPE c VALUE '(RFINTITAR)GT_SAVE_SELECTIONS[]',
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_save_selections> TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
    ASSIGN (lc_save_selections) TO <fs_save_selections>.
    i_save_selections[] = <fs_save_selections>.
Short dump: You attempted to move one data object to another.
This is not possible here because the internal tables concerned
    are neither compatible nor convertible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
what is ur internal table structure?
if structure of both field symbol and internal table is not same,
u can not put equal betwwen them.
ur  <fs_save_selections> is having one constanat value lc_save_selections.
and ur assaigning that to an internal table with some structure ......
so structure is not same for both..........check it once.

  • SAPScript Symbol

    Hi Guys,
I am actually using this thru Standard SAPScript and it shows the right value. I just wanna know the difference between thses symbols:
    &*EKKO-EBELN&
    and
    &EKKO-EBELN&
How do we know that we should use the asterisk sign (*) for a symbol?
    Regards,
    Reymar

    Hi,
Within the SAPScript it's not relevant - any variable between &and& just relates to their definition in the print program - as already pointed out the  '*' tends to relate to a copied variable in ABAP.

    Stu.

  • Tabular contents in Sapscript

    Hi friends,
I want to print few details of material master in tabular format in sapscript. Say I want to print matnr maktx and mtart.
But the problem is how to draw a table having 3 columns as its structure and it would contain as many rows as user gives in input.I want a simple matrix like we do have in MS Excel.
I did some work in main window using BOX command but not able to get the desired results.
    Please guide.
    Thanks & Regards,

Use the BOX command in SAP script to make tables.
    See examples
    For horizontal line
    /:   POSITION PAGE
/:   POSITION XORIGIN '2.0' CH YORIGIN '34.2' LN
/:   SIZE WIDTH '75.0' CH HEIGHT '0' LN
    /:   BOX FRAME 10 TW
    For vertical line
    /:   POSITION PAGE
/:   POSITION XORIGIN '2.0' CH YORIGIN '32.1' LN
/:   SIZE WIDTH '0' CH HEIGHT '28.1' LN

  • How print EURO symbol in SAPscript i.e. 'u0080'

    hello,
i am in trouble with the symbol of currency euro, which has to be displayed in script,
i have tried to find it in SAPscripts symbols, but i didn't find it.
    can anybody help on this.
    Regards,
    Adarsh.

This is how you can do, if this symbol is not found. Call sub-routine and concatenate "€" and amount separated with space and display in your script.
Usually if symbol is not available we print EUR amount...

  • DSYS-Links in SAPScript

    Dear experts,
in the maintenance of SAPScript based texts (documentation for reports, function modules, data elements etc.) there is an option to insert "Commands". Within that dialog you can choose a "Link". I'm interested in documentation about the possibilities offered by the links of the type DSYS/so70. There seems to be quite a lot possible with those links (for example jumping directly to an SAP transaction) but I cannot find any descent descripton. Does anybody know where to find detailled information?
    Thanks a lot in advance

I have a word document that I have put hyperlinks in and turned into a pdf.  When I email and receiver opens in iPad the document is blank.  When I do a file save as pdf the document appears and the hyperlinks work but the document has much of the content turned into symbols.  What is going wrong?

You select the printer properties and set the appropriate page size (I think there is a place to set it in PDF Maker too, but not sure). In the printer, this is equivalent to putting the proper paper in the printer.

Again the same code is repeated but now the TDID eq F02 in Select Query and also in READ_TEXT  Fun. Module. and now in the CASE statement next 4 lines coded as
    WHEN 1 .
                WRK_IT5 = OUT_LINE1.

              WHEN 4 .
                WRK_IT8 = OUT_LINE1.
and also these 4 rows modified as follows
    OUT_TAB200-VALUE = WRK_IT5.
MODIFY OUT_TAB200 INDEX 5 TRANSPORTING VALUE.
Now each time 4 - 4 rows coded as like as above.
    upto TDID = F05
So there are total of 20 lines.
Now the text is of 4 to 5 page then its not printed. even 5th line is not printed. control not goes to 2nd Select Query cause the OBJECTNAME does not exist.

    Hi,
    following is the help link...
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d1/803279454211d189710000e8322d00/frameset.htm
    Calling ABAP Subroutines: PERFORM
You can use the PERFORM command to call an ABAP subroutine (form) from any program, subject to the normal ABAP runtime authorization checking. You can use such calls to subroutines for carrying out calculations, for obtaining data from the database that is needed at display or print time, for formatting data, and so on.
PERFORM commands, like all control commands, are executed when a document is formatted for display or printing. Communication between a subroutine that you call and the document is by way of symbols whose values are set in the subroutine.
The system does not execute the PERFORM command within SAPscript replace modules, such as TEXT_SYMBOL_REPLACE or TEXT_INCLUDE_REPLACE. The replace modules can only replace symbol values or resolve include texts, but not interpret SAPscript control commands.
    Syntax in a form window:
    /: PERFORM <form> IN PROGRAM <prog>
    /: USING &INVAR1&
    /: USING &INVAR2&
    /: CHANGING &OUTVAR1&
    /: CHANGING &OUTVAR2&
    /: ENDPERFORM
INVAR1 and INVAR2 are variable symbols and may be of any of the four SAPscript symbol types.
OUTVAR1 and OUTVAR2 are local text symbols and must therefore be character strings.
The ABAP subroutine called via the command line stated above must be defined in the ABAP report prog as follows:
FORM <form> TABLES IN_TAB STRUCTURE ITCSY
    OUT_TAB STRUCTURE ITCSY.
    ENDFORM.
The values of the SAPscript symbols passed with /: USING... are now stored in the internal table IN_TAB . Note that the system passes the values as character string to the subroutine, since the field Feld VALUE in structure ITCSY has the domain TDSYMVALUE (CHAR 80). See the example below on how to access the variables.
The internal table OUT_TAB contains names and values of the CHANGING parameters in the PERFORM statement. These parameters are local text symbols, that is, character fields. See the example below on how to return the variables within the subroutine.
From within a SAPscript form, a subroutine GET_BARCODE in the ABAP program QCJPERFO is called. Then the simple barcode contained there (‘First page’, ‘Next page’, ‘Last page’) is printed as local variable symbol.
    Definition in the SAPscript form:
/: PERFORM GET_BARCODE IN PROGRAM QCJPERFO
    /: USING &PAGE&
    /: USING &NEXTPAGE&
    /: CHANGING &BARCODE&
    /: ENDPERFORM
    / &BARCODE&
Coding of the calling ABAP program:
    REPORT QCJPERFO.
FORM GET_BARCODE TABLES IN_PAR STUCTURE ITCSY
    OUT_PAR STRUCTURE ITCSY.
DATA: PAGNUM LIKE SY-TABIX, "page number
NEXTPAGE LIKE SY-TABIX. "number of next page
READ TABLE IN_PAR WITH KEY ‘PAGE’.
    CHECK SY-SUBRC = 0.
    PAGNUM = IN_PAR-VALUE.
READ TABLE IN_PAR WITH KEY ‘NEXTPAGE’.
    CHECK SY-SUBRC = 0.
    NEXTPAGE = IN_PAR-VALUE.
READ TABLE OUT_PAR WITH KEY ‘BARCODE’.
    CHECK SY-SUBRC = 0.
    IF PAGNUM = 1.
    OUT_PAR-VALUE = ‘|’. "First page
    ELSE.
    OUT_PAR-VALUE = ‘||’. "Next page
    ENDIF.
    IF NEXTPAGE = 0.
    OUT_PAR-VALUE+2 = ‘L’. "Flag: last page
    ENDIF.
    MODIFY OUT_PAR INDEX SY-TABIX.
    ENDFORM.

    Bharat.

  • How to use field symbols

can anyone tell me how to use field symbols. What effect it has on performance of a program?
    what r its avantages?
iam working on a report where iam facing a lot of problems in performance issue. can anyone tell how field symbols are useful in this regard?
    thanx to all

    Check the below links
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fc/eb3860358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm
    FIELD-SYMBOLS
    Basic form
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <fs>.
    Additions
    1. ... STRUCTURE s DEFAULT wa
    2. ... TYPE t
    3. ... TYPE LINE OF t
    4. ... LIKE s
    5. ... LIKE LINE OF s
    Effect
This statement declares a symbolic field called <fs>. At runtime, you can assign a concrete field to the field symbol using ASSIGN . All operations performed with the field symbol then directly affect the field assigned to it.
You can only use one of the additions.
    Example
Output aircraft type from the table SFLIGHT using a field symbol:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <PT>.
    TABLES SFLIGHT.
    ASSIGN SFLIGHT-PLANETYPE TO <PT>.
    WRITE <PT>.
    Addition 1
    ... STRUCTURE s DEFAULT wa
    Effect
Assigns any (internal) field string or structure to the field symbol from the ABAP/4 Dictionary ( s ). All fields of the structure can be addressed by name: <fs>-fieldname . The structured field symbol points initially to the work area wa specified after DEFAULT .
The work area wa must be at least as long as the structure s . If s contains fields of the type I or F, wa should have the structure s or at least begin in that way, since otherwise alignment problems may occur.
    Example
Address components of the flight bookings table SBOOK using a field symbol:
    DATA SBOOK_WA LIKE SBOOK.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <SB> STRUCTURE SBOOK
    DEFAULT SBOOK_WA.
    WRITE: <SB>-BOOKID, <SB>-FLDATE.
    Addition 2
    ... TYPE t
    Addition 3
    ... TYPE LINE OF t
    Addition 4
    ... LIKE s
    Addition 5
    ... LIKE LINE OF s
    Effect
You can use additions 2 to 5 to type field symbols in the same way as FORM parameters (see also Type assignment of subroutine parameters). ASSIGN performs the same type checks as with USING parameters of FORM s.

  • BUG: Rectangles inside FW symbols become blurry/misaligned

There seems to be a problem with the use of Rectangles within Symbols in Fireworks CS6, CS5 and earlier.
The problem is that they become blurry. More exactly, they become repositioned within the symbol—aligned to the half-pixel—and their edges become anti-aliased as a result. For example, here's a series of rectangles that I'd created on the canvas to visualize a set of color swatches:
Here's the same set of rectangles after having been saved as a Symbol and imported into another document:
At first I thought this was a problem with Symbols in general, but then I discovered that it only occurred with Rectangles—a.k.a. "rectangle primitives", which are a special kind of grouped vector object created using the Rectangle tool—and only when the contents of the Symbol in which they resided had a pixel width or height ending in an odd number (i.e., 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9).
    THE PROBLEM
Here's what I've observed, in greater detail. Start with two Rectangles, 99 x 99 pixels—one with a stroke only, the other with a fill only. Select the first Rectangle and choose Modify > Symbol > Convert to Symbol, and then do the same for the second. Save the file. Everything looks OK, right?
Now close the file, and reopen it. Have a look at the thumbnail previews within your Document Library. They look a little... fuzzy, yes?
Click on the name of one of the symbols in the Document Library to open the Symbol Properties dialog, and then click OK. Now look on the canvas...
Yikes. The symbol instance containing the stroked Rectangle (on the left) has become quite blurred. Now, back within the Document Library panel, click on the thumbnail preview of the other symbol to enter Edit Symbol mode, and then return to the document canvas...
Yikes again. The symbol instance containing the fill Rectangle (on the right) has also become blurred—horizontally, in this case. They both look worse now.
Note that it's not the instances nor their placement on the canvas that's the problem—you can move them anywhere on the canvas, and they'll still look just as bad—but the symbols themselves. Double click on one of the symbols to enter Edit Symbol mode and select the rectangle. Its X-Y position in the Properties panel will look normal, but if you open the Transform panel extension (http://www.senocular.com/fireworks/extensions/?entry=572), you'll see the real story: The rectangle has been re-aligned to the half-pixel.
Importantly, the trigger here isn't the dimensions of the rectangle, per se, but of the symbol contents as a whole. If the symbol contents have an even-numbered dimension, alignment remains crisp and pixel-perfect along that dimension; if the symbol contents have an odd-numbered pixel dimension, a blurry misalignment occurs. For example, here's a series of "even" rectangles (20 x 20 pixels) that, with their single-pixel spacing, comprise an odd-numbered selection (125px), shown before and after symbol conversion:
Incidentally, the same problem reveals itself when you import these symbols into another document using the Import Symbols command within the Document Library options menu.
    THE FIX
The patch for this bug, once it's occurred, is to edit the symbol. In Edit Symbol mode, select all objects—or just the misaligned Rectangle objects—and choose Modify > Snap To Pixel.
The fly in the ointment here is that, in many cases, the original alignment is not preserved. The rectangles may now be misaligned in relation to other objects in the symbol, as well as to other objects on the canvas. Therefore, to finish the job, you may need to also nudge the rectangle(s) by a pixel horizontally or vertically using the keyboard arrow keys.
The good news is that once a symbol has been fixed using Snap To Pixel, its alignment and clarity should remain fixed.
    THE WORKAROUND
The surest way to avoid this issue, of course, is to avoid including Rectangles in your symbols—not the geometric shape, but the grouped vector object as it's created by the Rectangle tool. Therefore, prior to converting a selection to a symbol, check for any Rectangles within the selection and ungroup them using the Modify > Ungroup command, which will convert them into simple paths, unaffected by this bug. (Chances are, by the time you're converting these objects to symbols, you won't need the fluid resizing or adjustable rounded corners that Rectangle objects offer; the trick will be remembering to perform this extra step.)
    THE BUG REPORT
Lastly, here's the bug report that I submitted to Adobe regarding this issue:
    Product name: Fireworks
    Product Version: 12.0.0.236
    Product Language: English
Your operating system: Mac OS 10.6.8
    ******BUG******
Concise problem statement: Rectangles within Symbols become blurry if the width or height of the symbol contents is an odd number (e.g., 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, etc.). The blurriness is caused by misalignment of Rectangles on the half-pixel within the symbol, and becomes apparent upon closing and reopening the document and either a) viewing the symbol's Document Library thumbnail preview, or b) clicking to view Symbol Properties or to Edit Symbol. It can also be observed upon Importing the symbol into the Document Library of another document.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
In an open FW document, draw a Rectangle and set the width and/or height to an odd number (e.g., 99 x 99 pixels).
Select the Rectangle and Convert to Symbol.
    Save and close the document.
Reopen the document. In the Document Library, double-click the symbol name to open the Symbol Properties dialog, and click OK. (Or double-click the symbol preview to Edit, and then return to the document canvas.)
Results: The Symbol instance appears blurry on the canvas. (The Symbol itself also appears blurry within Edit mode.)
Expected results: The Symbol should appear as it was originally created, without a loss of clarity or change in alignment.
Note that this bug can occur whether a rectangle's dimensions are even or odd; the determining factor is the dimensions of the symbol contents as a whole. However, the bug affects Rectangles only; it has not been observed with paths, ellipses, auto shapes, bitmaps, or groups.
The Transform panel extension was used to view the precise pixel alignment of objects and determine the cause of the blurriness.
For more information, including graphic demonstrations and workarounds, please see the following forum post: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1073489?tstart=0
This bug has also been observed in Fireworks 8 and CS5 on Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
    POSTSCRIPT
Amazingly, this bug can also affect Symbol instances on the canvas that have been "broken apart". To see this for yourself, create a symbol like one of the preceding examples, select the symbol instance on the canvas and choose Modify > Symbol > Break Apart. Save and close the file, then reopen it. The "broken apart" instance on the canvas will now appear blurry/misaligned(!).

    Thanks, Petros_!
That's good input. If this issue is important to you, consider submitting your own bug report. Feel free to copy and paste from mine, if it helps. (Just be sure to verify all results on your own setup first.)
Whenever possible, I'm trying to post bug reports on this forum in addition to submitting them to Adobe. Partially, this is to allow me to include graphics or go into slightly more detail, and partially it's to make bug reporting more transparent—to raise awareness of known issues among fellow users and reduce duplication of effort, to create a record, and to increase public visibility of these issues. It also allows for corrections or additions to be made by myself or other users.
However, it's not a true bug reporting system. So we don't know whether the Fireworks team has looked at this yet, whether it has been or will be assigned to someone, or whether your comment on this thread will be read by anyone on the Fireworks team.
Nevertheless, it is quite an investment of time tracking down a bug and writing it up like this, so I appreciate the kudos!
