ContentDB 10.1.3.2.0 of WebCenter Suite and S2S Trusted Application error

Any one have tryed creating trusted s2s application entry in OID, using steps provided under contentdb devkit (cdb\doc\authentication.html) ?
When I run ./runs2s.sh Permission denied even though I have updated jazn-data.xml file
Then I have try running

I have a similar problem on a similar environment (Win 2003/ 10.1.3.2.0/DB 10.2.0.1) installation of Webcenter Suite using Basic installation.
I have tried creating the table spaces according to the specifications given in oracle documentation, yet the installer complained about the table spaces not having free space left (specially, the WORK_IFS tables space). I also tried giving spaces on average 15MB more then the suggested space for their datafiles, and it still complained about the table space issue.
- When the configuration assistant fails, and you exit out of the Universal Installer, is there any option or way to just rerun the configuration assistant for content db again?
- I see on the EM for WebCenter Suite that all the other components seem to install properly and are up and running yet there is no mention of Content DB. Nor there is any option to try to reconfigure it.
- or do we have to uninstall the whole WCSuite, and/or the database 10201 too and then reinstall the software?
Can someone please help in finding a way forward?

This answer is actually not so easy - it depends what license do you actually refer to.
The current Oracle price list contains two SKUs that could apply:
- WebCenter Portal (WCP), formerly (about a year ago) called WebCenter Suite,
- and WebCenter Suite Plus (WCSP), which consists of WCP, WebCenter Content, and WebCenter Sites
WCP requires a license of Weblogic (to be precise: Weblogic Server Enterprise Edition) as a mandatory pre-requisite. And yes, the number of WLS corresponds to the number of WCP.
WCSP, on the other hand, is not that clear - the document Oracle Technology Global Price List Supplement does not mention WLS as a pre-requisite, but neither it mentions that WLS is included in the license in the restricted mode. In fact, two of suite products, namely, WCC and WCS won't need the WLS license (for WCC it is included in the restricted mode, and WCS might not need it at all).
Therefore, if you have WCSP rather than WCP I'd suggest to cross-check you needs with your local Oracle sales rep.

Webcenter Suite installation : UCM installation location error

Webcenter Portal and UCM - Content Presenter Error

Hello,
I get an error while I'm adding a Content Presenter over the default resource catalog of my webcenter portal application and try to create content.
When pressing the create content button a new browserpage opens and after beeing logged in to the Content Server the cs/resources/wcm/custom/sitestudio/contentwizard/webcenter/contentwizard.hcsp is called and this error message appears as an alert:
"*this placeholder is restricted, but no region definitions have been specified*"

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

Webcenter portlets and Apache - Portlet Consumer Error

Hello There,
I'm trying to use Apache (OHS) with my Webcenter Space Application.

It works fine, but just the portlets stop to work when I access my application from the Apache's port (7777). The error message is "Portlet Consumer Error". If I change the port to the default (8888) it works again.

Do you see anything in the logs of your spaces server or OHS logs?

You also need to configure OHS to the portlet producer managed server. Did you do this?

Webcenter Framework and JSP Custom application for IE6 Compatibility

Hi All, I've a problem with a client which wants a portal application with all the bells and whistles which go with it but don't want to give up IE6.
So my question is can I build the Custom WebCenter Application (Portal) in a IE6 compliant technology like Trinidad and still get everything I want from the WebCenter framework in terms of portlet producers? The Portal application will be fixed in content and very basic in terms of layout.
Does this sound feasible or would it be better to use a older version of ADF or indeed Weblogic Portal?

You could use whatever library of rich components you want... You could also use icefaces or primefaces or so. The trinidad components should also work in an 11g environment. Normally the trinidad components are just a library so you should be able to deploy it on a weblogic server...
Maybe you can ask this in the adf forum: JDeveloper and ADF
The guys over there will be better in answering whether or not you can use trinidad in an 11g environment without using the adf rich faces.
You also have to know that you ALWAYS have to use some adf 11g components. The way a portlets is rendered in a webcenter application is by using a showDetailFrame. You can not change this and i don't know how this behave's in IE6. It will definilty need to load up some javascript libraries what will cause some errors in IE6. Maybe you can try it... Just create an empty page with just a portlet on it and see how it reacts in IE6.

How to integrate Blogs & Discussion Forums for Webcenter Suite 10gR3?

Hi,
One of our clients has just gone live with a Webcenter 10gR3 Portal implementation (using WC Framework). They're now interested in integrating blogs and discussion forums with their Portal.
My understanding is that blogging, discussion forum etc is not supported in Webcenter 10gR3. Correct me if wrong?
Can someone share any solutions which have been implemented around the same. Eg: I read about using blogs, wiki etc from Webcenter 11g Stack and exposing them web services.
Basically what are the possible options we can explore into?

Thanks Venkat. Actually we're not considering migrating to 11g I was only looking for possible options and this was one of them that I read the forum.
Thought to adding some more information about this portal: It is developed in WLP so they're on Weblogic Server.
Jon Huang, Director Product Management for Webcenter Suite and Portal tells me
"The WebCenter 10.1.3.4 Additional Services releases contains wiki/blog/discussions and is certified with WebCenter 10gR3 version:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/owcs_10134_addtlservices.html
*You'll need to use WLS for these additional services.*"
That answers my question, but would appreciate if others can share any more info on similar implementations, if done.

Using FTP with Content DB ni Webcenter Suite

Is it possible to use the FTP protocol in ContentDB version 10.1.3.2 (The one in WebCenter Suite) ?
I'd like to upload files and folders with BPEL 10.1.3.1 into this ContentDB.
I am not able to find the FtpServerConfiguration in the ApplicationServerControl.

Charu,
I found the solution, but not how I wanted it.
It is explained to me that the 10.1.3.2 Webcenter version contains a "stripped" ContentDB version. And as you can imagine FTP is one of thos stripped parts, thus not available in this one.
Therefor I took the step back and installed the seperate ContentDB 10.2.0
With this everything worked fine.

"Oracle Universal Installer" instead of "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0"

Hi,
I've installed HTTP_Server from [Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 2.0) (10.1.3.3.0) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_win32soft.html] ; unfortunately, I was unable to control the installation process (select advanced install, password, hostname, port number...), because I got the "Oracle Universal Installer" instead of the "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 Installation" screen, as shown in the installation documentation.
Although I suspect I'll be able to configure via the various configuration files, I've had to install every single component, instead of just the one I need. Has anyone encountered the same problem and know how to fix it?

Actually, my problem is that I was not prompted to choose between basic and advanced; that's in the "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 Installation" screens, as seen in the installation instructions. But the "Oracle Universal Installer" screen that I get when I click setup.exe doesn't give you that choice.
This isn't actually a big deal, because HTTP_Server was still correctly installed, but I had to configure it manually. I'm just trying to figure out why it is that I didn't get the correct installer.
Does anyone know how I can get the "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 Installation" application instead of the "Oracle Universal Installer"?

Can anyone tell me where I can get the documentation for oracle webcenter wiki and blog server 10.1.3.2.0. I am specifically interested in this version and not the latest version Oracle® WebCenter Wiki and Blog Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.4.0) because I have heard the older version provided out of the box portlets for creation of blogs.
Since we want blogs very fast, I want documentation of this older version.
Can anyone point them out to me as soon as possible please

I do not believe there were any portlets provided with the earlier release.
Anyway what i think is it should not take you more than a few hours to integrate blogging functionality if you are using the Connection & Task flows provided by WebCenter.

OCR with WebCenter Content and Imaging

Hi,
I'm searching for some information about OCR with webcenter content and imaging.
I've seen that there are two solutions :
- WebCenter Capture
- Webcenter Forms Recognition
But I can't find if any of that product use lexical post-correction of OCR results. Is anyone have this information?

Both products will use print (vs handwritten) character recognition to identify "tokens" from the image of a document with text. Capture usage focuses mainly on zonal recognition of information - what I would call structured forms processing. Forms Recognition is for information capture from semi-structured documents - say invoices, where you know that many fields are present, but their location differs from example to example. It can use patterns, text locators, etc to find the field. Both benenfit when there exists a reference DB of acceptable values, but that is not a requirement.
Lexical correction (as I understand it to mean) is not a feature of either. They are not going to try to validate extracted tokens based upon language analysis. I would try to use them to extract all of the tokens and then add some tool to do lexical analysis. You could do that as a separate, post OCR process, or try to see if you can fit it into an FR post-extraction EP.
Might I ask what the business problem you are trying to solve is?

Anyone Experience WebCenter Suite 11g ins tall with UCM on Linux?

I have been installing and facing several issues with this. It is extremely slow on weblogic server. starting weblogic server takes around 30 minutes. The deployer keeps deploying for ever. Not sure if I am doing something wrong.
Here are the steps I followed:
1. Installed 11g Database. Bumped the processes to 350 (else rcu would not work).
2. used rcu to create a DEV schema or webcenter, Portal and BI.
3. Installed Weblogic Server and ran config.sh and created a domain (with no managed servers).'
4. Installed webtier (OHS and WebCache) since WebCenter with UCM requires a HTTP Server URL (I was not sure if I could use the WebLogic Internal HTTP). and configured it. Made sure I was able to stop and star OHS.
5. Then installed WebCenter FrameWork with UCM. Then had to extend the above created domain and added 3 Managed Servers WLS_Services, WLS_Spaces, WLS_Portlets.
6. Tried to get Weblogic stopped and started (and it took for ever).
7. Tried to start each of the Managed Servers and again it seemed to take for ever.
8. Now I have a fusion control though it seems to take quite sometime to login to it or the console (especially the first time).
9. The fusion control still shows everything down inspite of the Managed servers being up.
10. Then I notice that the application webcenter, owc_discussions, owc_wiki all show failed state.
11. There are several errors in the logs and constant error that keep showing up on the console (vnc).

1. This is a dev server and has around 4GB and 2 CPU's somewhere around 2.x GHZ (I guess). I monitored the system while I noticed slowness and did not find any issues I/O or memory and all I could notice in the logs are deployment going on. I sometimes however noticed warning on Thread stuck - not sure how to tune it or optimize threads (being new to weblogic).
2. Yes, I have tried deploying and it fails with errors again in deployment - again I probably have to read a bit about WebLogic deployments.
3. I am not sure how to avoid configuring atleast an empty domain in step 3. Would help if you elaborate. Here is my understanding:
a. To install webcenter with UCM, I need a running http url (address).
b. To get a HTTP running, I need webtier installed and configured. The configuration seem to ask for a weblogic domain. In which case I have to create a weblogic domain either by running config.sh on the WEBLOGIC_HOME or through the config.sh on WEBTIER_HOME/common/bin.
That was my understanding, I understand the best way to configure is to run config.sh from the WEBCENTER_HOME.
Looks like I might have to uninstall and try reinstalling.
