Contribute confused?

I have finally got Dreamweaver to test OK in my manage sites
Contribute section. The answer was to provide a URL of the form
"\\myComputerName\siteFolder" (OK, OK, obvious was'nt it?). Great I
thought were finally there. Go to Contribute and set up a site
connection and it appears (I have not used a key or password at
this stage). When I load up I am informed that I do not have a
connection (yellow bar at top "you are viewing a page that you
have'nt created a connection to."). OK, Edit my connections and go
to create a connection where I'm told I already have a connection.
The connection info. is:
URL = file://barleytwist/wmsV3/
Network path = C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wmsV3\
I have not found a similar problem to this. Any suggestins
appreciated.

Hi
Can i know more information on this to help you. I see that
you are
using IIS on a windows machine. Here is what i understand
from your
message - Correct me if i am wrong?
1. You Created a connection in dreamweaver
2. You tried to manage it from dreamweaver contribute
compatibility
section
3. You went and created connection to your site in
contribute using
the path \\myComputerName\siteFolder? What is the site URL
you have
given when creating connection for the first time?
Can you edit your existing contribute connection and try
using
http://localhost/wmsV3/ instead
of file://localhost/wmsV3?
Can you elaborate more on your problem?
Thanks
Arun

  • GPIB-ENET/100, NI-488.2 fails to be properly installed on Mac OSX.

I am trying to install a new GPIB-ENET/100 on my Mac iBook 600 MHz 384 MB running Mac OSX 10.3.2. The GPIB-ENET/100 will eventually be used with LabVIEW 7.0. After running the installation procedure, IP 192.168.0.12 is assigned to the GPIB-ENET/100 device. When I then run the Trouble Shooting Wizard the first two steps are passed but the third, "GPIB Interfacees Sequentially Verified" fails. I am instructed to click on the interface in the associated list to get help but the whole help system is dead in this installation. The firmware is B9.
The device does not seem to work from LabVIEW either.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Scott,
    Thank you for your response.
I am pleased to say that everything (except the 488.2 help) works now. The road here was not all straight however and strange things happen.
Firstly the "Troubleshooting Wizard" reports, even when the ethernet cable is REMOVED (as a test), that:
    1) NI-488.2 Software Presence Verified-PASS (Seems ok to me)
    2) GBIB Hardware Presence Verified-PASS (??????????? very odd to me)
    3) GPIB Interfaces Sequentially Verified-FAIL
This is what made me look in the wrong direction as, to me, the test seemed to say that the GPIB-ENET/100 "box" was actually detected and the IP number settings was ok (my cable was NOT disconnected when I wrote the first time). Now I (think) I know that my problem was associated with incomplet
e IP-number settings in terms of "Sub net mask", "Gate way" and "DNS server" which caused the comunication to fail. This problem is related to my incompetence in the science of IP.
Secondly, now I know that the "Explore GPIB" program works equally well independent on whether or not the ethernet cable is connected. This further contributed confusion and added to the impression that the GPIB-ENET/100 "box" was actually detected and communicated with.
To sum up, if you are not using DHCP you have to be very careful with ALL the IP settings.
As far as the dead help function in all the NI-488.2 programs is concerned I have no clue at the moment but I will look in to it at a later time.
    Regards
    Lars
    P.S.
"Sometimes, having a GPIB Instrument connected to your GPIB interface can cause the Sequentially Verified step to fail."
This doesn't seem to give me any promlems.

  • One thing that confuses me about contribute is the license

One thing that confuses me about contribute is the license. I
have a client who I am doing a website for and I want to recommend
contribute. However I don't want them to have to buy 2 copies of
the program because they are a man and wife who will both be
editing the website. Is it ok for both of them to use it if it is
installed on a PC and a laptop?

The EULA suggests that it's OK to have it installed on two
computers (office, home/laptop) for one user. How your client
solves this is their case of course, but I think they will be
creative enough to make it work without buying two licences

  • How to suppress email notifications from auto-contribute workflow step

    Hi all,
does anybody know how to suppress the notification email that is sent from the contribution step (auto-contribute) of a criteria workflow. Now the user doing the checkin gets an email about the start of a workflow.
    regards,
    Harold

    Harold,
    few comments:
    - what is the step type of your 3rd step? Is it Review or Review/Edit-New Revision?
If just Review, what happens if you change it to Review/Edit Revision or Review/New Revision?
    - calling just the UPDATE_DOCINFO service does not explain neither sending the email, nor changing the current step. What might be an explanation is calling a CHECKIN service in a Review step (the engine might be confused and 'restart' the workflow as it would not know whether a new, or current revision should be updated)
Well, actually there could be one reason: updating the security group
From whatever reason, criteria workflows are designed in such a way that security group is the mandatory parameter. This means that changing the security group might actually mean that the content item is in a wrong workflow (I was just about to ask "why on earth do you call UPDATE_DOCINFO in a Java?' and this came to my mind - custom metadata might be updated directly in iDocScript via wfUpdateMetaData http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10726/c06_core_ref.htm#i1067045 ). If that's the case, you might have to re-design the whole stuff.
Can you share details what is updated?

  • Big, confusing iPod Shuffle Problem

Okay, this is a confusing one, so read it carefully to understand it fully
The iPod shuffle in question is my ladyfriend's, bought in October 2005, and has never caused us a bit of trouble. Until last night.
Last night I downloaded and ran the new iPod Shuffle fix that Apple distributed (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303979) The iPod never had trouble in the past, but I wanted to keep up with the updates so that it stayed that way, and ran it.
After it had finished running and reset, the iPod dissapeared from the finder. I thought "great, all done and dusted." When I tried to plug it in again and add music, I went through the "what is it called" tabs etc. which come up when you first use a shuffle. It was on the Finder, in iTunes, all was well.
I noticed that after a few seconds, the iPod dissapeared from the Finder. Stayed in iTunes, but had seemingly vanished from everywhere else. This is interesting, as it's one of the things that the fix is supposed to solve in the first place!
This is my problem. The iPod vanishes when something tries to use it. If I enable 'disk use' on the device, it appears. Turn it off, vanishes again. The iPod vanishing tricks have given me some error:1418's, which were fixed to many on a website dedicated to the 1418 error who used the fix. Even running older updaters doesn't fix these problems.
I'd like to have this iPod stop dissapearing when I open programs such as iTunes, and have it work properly again.
If anyone can contribute anything to this, I'd be very appreciative.
    Cheers everyone.

  • Spry menu bar not working in Contribute

I have created a site in Dreamweaver which my client will
edit in Contribute. However when i view the site in Contribute -
the Spry menu bar doesn't show up like it did in Dreamweaver.
instead it shows up like a text list. Has anyone run into this
issue before? if so how did you resolve it. Thank you.

Although, I did download IE-Tester which allows you to test in different IE versions and it does not seen to work there?
IE-tester shows that you have got a problem 0n line #102. Unfortunately, the tester cannot be relied upon reflecting the correct line number. There is a problem on line #27 where there is no space in front of "type="
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBar.js"type="text/javascript"></script>
and line #86 where there is no space before "rel="
    <link href="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBarVertical.css"rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Now for my next problem, and if I can get this working I should be in fairly good shape. I had made some formatting changes (centered the menu bar, and made some color changes) See below, however those are now not working..Normally, when a question has been answered, it is marked as correct and any new questions are asked in a new post.
However, you caught me in a good mood, just signed contracts for three new projects one as far away as Switserland.
Lines #27 and #28 look like
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBar.js"type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBarVertical.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Lines #84 and #86 look like
    <script src="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/widgets/menubar/SpryMenuBarVertical.css"rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
This may not confuse the browser, but it is not very conducive. Remove either set of links.
    When I look at SpryMenuBarVertical.css
change the value of line 16 to auto, has not been done
starting at line 81, change the highlighted values, has not been done
So it is no wonder there are no changes.

  • Contribute CS4 - Connection help

I have a local copy of our intranet site on a file server (not my local machine).  Each time updates are required, using Dreamweaver I edit the 'local' file and then 'put' the file to the live web server.
Is it possible to set up Contribute on a user's PC to connect (via LAN)  to the local version  for them to edit files (basic word processing/hyperlinks) and then put the saved file on the live site?  I don't want them to use Dreamweaver as they're not HTML-savvy and would probably find it confusing!
I've tried to set up a connection to our file server \\fileserver name\intranet but get the error message 'contribute cannot verify your connection'.  I am already logged on to our domain and connected to the file server in My Network Places.  (My log in name and password authorise my connection to certain folders on the file server).
I can create a successful ftp connection to the live web site without any problem.
    Thanks in advance.

We also had problems getting the UNC path to work in Contribute, so our intranet editors have a drive letter mapped when they login and they use that to connect via LAN.  I hope that helps.

  • Has anyone tried editing an iWeb site with Contribute or Dreamweaver?

Before iWeb, I liked using Adobe Macromedia Contribute to edit the.Mac homepages. I've been giving iWeb a spin, and it seems to occupy the same place in Apple's stable as the rest of its siblings — a pre-pubescent version of Contribute, which is a subset of Dreamweaver.
I haven't yet tried it, but it seems as if the iWeb templates would be a good starting point, and Contribute/Dreamweaver would be great tools to polish the site.
I'm still confused, though, as to what the .Mac WebDAV URLs are...that's the thing that always tripped me up. Dreamweaver 8 is a better at site management, it seems, but if anyone could post a "definitive" guide on using a third-party tool, it would be much appreciated.

yes you can use other websoftware to modify iweb sites either after it is on the webserver or if you save it to a folder before publishing.
I tried the demo of Dream weaver and it worked fine..also I used Rapidweaver which works too. Heck you could use anything that can edit HTML which is really just a text file.
The problem with iweb is it is using those stupid PNG files which are big and to make it worse it duplicates all your images rather than having them in a shared folder you can end up with dozens of the same image which when someone visits your site and changes pages it has to download the same image again!
    pretty crazy stuff.
iweb looks nice and as long as people are viewing it with broadband you'd be ok but dialup users are "toast" even on a simple site.
I got the demo of rapidweaver which is not as intuiative but in someways is more complete and have done a 3 page site.. others are developing themes for it and also there are plugins which add alot of functionality.
at $35 USD it is cheap and if you go to http://www.screencastsonline.com there are 3 videos to show you how to use it and a discount code.
I personally thing iweb is great but has some design flaws that will need to be delt with.

  • Correctly defining site in Dreamweaver to accomodate Contribute

I am getting ready to set up a new Dreamweaver site to work
with Contribute and am hoping to avoid the problem I have with my
current site. Right now, the site definition points to an
"off-line" copy of the site on a local network drive. I make all
page changes, template changes, etc. within that site. When I'm
ready to make the changes live, I tend to use Windows Explorer and
just copy from the site to the live server (I know that I could
just check 'automatically upload files to server on save" and avoid
this step ). However, Contribute is set up to connect directly to
the live site. It seems that was the only way to do it - otherwise
even when I (as Contribute Adminstrator) click "publish" for a
draft, it would only be published to the off-line site - and I
would still have to copy to the live server. But with the current
    set-up, there's a version mis-match as soon as I publish a
Contribute file, unless I immediately go and copy the updated page
from the live server back to the off-line site and that means that
some site changes will copy an old "off-line" version of a page
over a new, edited Contribute page.
How do I set up a site to ensure that I can still have an
off-line "work" environment, and yet not have to worry about
Contribute-edited pages? I do understand that I can define the site
as the "live" site - but then if I make site wide changes that
don't work, and blow something up - I don't have that back-up. It
just makes me nervous to work with the live files.
I've read (and am still reading) everything I can find about
setting up a site, and setting up a site to work with Contribute,
but this is still confusing me.
    thanks for any help.

    Have you ever used Dreamweaver?
How good are you with HTML and CSS code?
Go to Site > New Site and tell DW where on your hard drive you wish to keep your local site folder.
Enter your remote server FTP credentials.
From the Files Panel, Click on the Down Arrow to GET files from your remote web server.

  • Do clients have to purchase contribute in order to update site?

I am confused about Contribute. Do clients have to purchase

  • Dreamweaver - Contribute issue

    In Dreamweaver:
I created a template with 2 editable areas: pageheading and content
I inserted text and a table onto 1 page - saved as summary.htm
    and saved everything
if I look at the code the "<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->" is in the correct position in summary.htm
    In Contribute:
when I open and attempt to edit the table in summary.htm, I am unable to do so
I can't edit the table (ie, insert a row) or edit the existing content
when I look at the defined editable area (outlined with the blue dashed line) the table is not included (but is in the area if I look at it in Dreamweaver)
    Suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Very Confused
    Sharon

It should be <!--InstanceEndEditable--> in your page files and <!--TemplateEndEditable--> in the template file.

  • Swamped and confused about products

    Hi guys,
I am new to Oracle middleware products. After looking at a few articles, I am swamped and confused about those products, WebCenter (WC), Content Server (CS), Universal Content Management (UCM).
    1. WC has a built-in content database, part of Oracle database. CS also stores contents into Oracle database. Then what are differences between two types of content storage? Can I build WebCenter with Content Server as the content storage?
    2. WebCenter provides management functions on content. So does UCM. Users could contribute, review and release contents to web via both. Then what are differences between two types of content management? What more does UMC provide than the built-in content management in WC.
    3. Content Server needs a third-party web server (port:80) to publish its content. WebCenter Suite seems use Oracle HTTP Server (port:7777) to render web pages. Is it possible to integrate those two on one web server? Why is Oracle HTTP Server using a weird port?
    4. JDeveloper has the built-in OC4J container. But how can JDeveloper access or interact with Content Server or WC content database? Site Studio can access Content Server directly but only provides very limited portlet or ajax components. If I want to store web pages, static or dynamic, into WC and/or CS, which tool should I use?
Can anybody help me with them? Or please point me to the right direction. I really appreciate it.
    thanks,
    Chen

Plug it in and use the Transfer Purchases function, either from the resulting dialog box or from the File menu. If you need to authorize the computer, choose it from the Store menu.

I downloaded the Contribute 3.11 from Macromedia website and
then I ran Contribute 3.11 Installer. The error occurred with the
message "The system cannot find the path specified." (title bar

"OK", another error appeared "CT_Client_Installer.exe" with the
title bar showed "Error Executing the Specified Program". Another
error is "Unable to execute the specified command line!".
Is there a way to fix this?
