I have questioned :"I need to control a stepper motor and at the same time to acquire signals (voltage of the motor). When I control a stepper motor it works perfectly, it responds inmediatly, but if I try to control the motor and acquire signal at the same time, the motor not respond inmediatly.... How can I control and acquire the signals at the same time? and the motor respond inmediatly."
Jonnie5 responds me.. and he said that if I´m using buffered types, there should be no problem in simultaneous acquisition & control...
I don´t know what does he mean with buffered types, also I need information about events, and which is the utily of the events?

First of all, we will need to know what hardware you are using. I hope you've got the NI Motion controller and an NI DAQ board. If so, you're looking good. Jonnie5 was talking about continuous buffered acquisition. There are several examples at your fingertips that ship with LabVIEW. Under the Help menu, go to Find Examples. On the dialog that appears, select Hardware Input and Output -> DAQ -> Analog Input -> General and then whichever "Cont Acq .... (buffered)" example you like.
Run that example in parallel with your stepper motor routines and you've got a prototype. If you do not feel that your LabVIEW skills are developed enough to integrate the two functions in parallel, there are LabVIEW experts waiting to help at a nearby Alliance Member co

PC reboots during Labview controlled data acquisition

Hi,
I'm using LabView to control the acquisition of a large number of gamma spectra and whenever the system gets to the ~700th data acquisition the PC reboots itself. There is no sign that the Labview software has crashed, the PC just goes dead and reboots. This problem only happens when using LabView. After a data acquisition a data file is saved to the hard drive, the files are only 12KB in size and I have 1GB of RAM, so I don't think it's a memory problem.

Are there any entries in the system events list (assuming MS Win) or in some application logs?
You said "This problem only happens when using LabView". Does this mean you can acquire data without problems when using another language than LabVIEW? if possible I'd try to create a basic app in some other language to check if the problems depend on the hardware or on the application.
Can you provide some information about your platform and post some code (pls. don't forget required additional files lile driver DLLs etc.)

Can you share FP Controls between different Event Structures

I'm creating a program that will either read real-time data from an VNA on the GPIB bus, or read a saved s2p (Agilent) file and analyze it. The FP consists of 5 graphs, and various controls which handle events like printing, changing filters, or exiting. on the BD I have a case structure controlled by an operator selection pop-up. I tried using the same FP controls in the event structures I have setup in each case, as only one event structure would ever be executing at any given time, but the program doesn't seem to like it ast run-time. I've worked around the issue by creating "duplicate" controls and using the property setting to make them visible/disabled, etc., but the is seriously congesting my BD.
Anyone know a way to share controls with seperate event structures?

It sounds like the root problem is the overall structure of your program. I highly recommend that you check out the Queued Message Handler project template in LabVIEW 2012, that will show you how to utilize a single event structure and pass events to a consumer loop. If you program is too large to consider an architecture change at this stage of the game, then there is a workaround for your problem.
What is most likely happening is that you have the event structures all set to lock the front panel until the event completes. However the case structure that you have wrapped around these event structures is causing all but one of these event structures to be unreachable thus preventing you from handling the event. Again, as I stated above, the "RIGHT WAY" to fix this is to select a better program structure but the "kluge work-around" fix is this: Dynamically register for the value change event on all of the controls you are trying to trap events for. Dynamic events can be deregistered and re-registered at run time. This will allow only the event structure in the active owning case structure to be registered for the events, thus no other event structures will get in your way.
Disclaimer: This advice is given based on very minimal information and a great deal of speculation and may not be correct. Please include your code if you need further assistance.

<b>System Events (Default)</b>
The event is passed to the application server, but does not trigger the PAI. If you have registered an event handler method in your ABAP program for the event (using the SET HANDLER statement), this method is executed on the application server.
Within the event handler method, you can use the static method SET_NEW_OK_CODE of the global class CL_GUI_CFW to set a function code and trigger the PAI event yourself. After the PAI has been processed, the PBO event of the next screen is triggered.
The advantage of using this technique is that the event handler method is executed automatically and there are no conflicts with the automatic input checks associated with the screen. The disadvantage is that the contents of the screen fields are not transported to the program, which means that obsolete values could appear on the next screen. You can work around this by using the SET_NEW_OK_CODE method to trigger field transport and the PAI event after the event handler has finished.
<b>Application Events</b>
The event is passed to the application server, and triggers the PAI. The function code that you pass contains an internal identifier. You do not have to evaluate this in your ABAP program. Instead, if you want to handle the event, you must include a method call in a PAI dialog module for the static method DISPATCH of the global class CL_GUI_CFW. If you have defined an event handler method in your ABAP program for the event (using the SET HANDLER statement), the DISPATCH method calls it. After the event handler has been processed, control returns to the PAI event after the DISPATCH statement and PAI processing continues.
The advantage of this is that you can specify yourself the point at which the event is handled, and the contents of the screen fields are transported to the application server beforehand. The disadvantage is that this kind of event handling can lead to conflicts with the automatic input checks on the screen, causing events to be lost.

How do I click on a cell in a table control, and display the value in a string?

What I would like to do is to click on a cell in a table control, and have the value of the cell be displayed in a string indicator. What ever cell I click on, I would like the value to be displayed in the indicator.

Problem with custom control and focus

I've a problem with the focus in a custom control that contains a TextField and some custom nodes.
If i create a form with some of these custom controls i'm not able to navigate through these fields by using the TAB key.
I've implemented a KeyEvent listener on the custom control and was able to grab the focus and forward it to the embedded TextField by calling requestFocus() on the TextField but the problem is that the TextField won't get rid of the focus anymore. Means if i press TAB the first embedded TextField will get the focus, after pressing TAB again the embedded TextField in the next custom control will get the focus AND the former focused TextField still got the focus!?
So i'm not able to remove the focus from an embeded TextField.
Any idea how to do this ?

Why not use an event
Add a While Loop, inside the loop add the Event Sructure.
Now in the event structure selecd the String Controls.value change event to
react
and the new value inside the event that you get,( connect to the String
indicator box.

How to detect control-mouseclick event

I'm trying to make the Z-scale max property of an Intensity graph more flexible to modify from the front panel. In the attached VI, I use an increment/decrement control and just detect a value change event (ignoring the value of the control). This works fine, although it is a bit of a kludge.
I'd like to make it more functional though. My main question is the following: How can I detect a "control-mouseclick" event? I plan to use this event to change the Intensity Graph max by a factor rather than by an additive value.
A second small question: On the numeric control, is there a way I can get rid of the displayed number whitespace and leave only the increment/decrement buttons?

Thanks. Your suggesetion solves my original problem, but it creates another. With the platmods "ctrl" boolean hooked to a case statement, I can choose between those "ctrl click" and "regular click" cases. However, with the "mouse down" event, I can't tell if the increment or decrement button was pressed.
I guess one solution is to replace a single inc/dec control with two booleans controls (increase and decrease) and to have two separate events . Problem with that is that I'm really piling up event cases, because I'll need several copies of this type of control on my front panel.
Can you suggest any way to have both inc/dec button and ctrl-mouse functionality? Maybe there is a way to combine the "value change" and "mouse down" events?

I have thought that it could only calculate the field for the lines that visualize.
How could control the scroll events to calculate the field of the visualized lines?
I'm using CL_SALV_TABLE class and cl_salv_events_table to control the events, but there aren't any event to control the scroll.

I did view the information that you was attaching, but this don't resolve my problem. With methods get_scroll_info_via_id and set_scroll_info_via_id, we can get and put information of selection and view rows in the screen but we don't control when the user click in the scroll for advance or to back down a page.
I would like to refresh the data in ALV when the user view news rows.
I want your genial ideas.

Mouse move to the edge of the tabitem and this will trigger mosueenter and mouseleave event again and again

I have registered the tabitem mouseenter and mouseleave event, and when user move the mouse in tabitem a block will follow, if mouse leave the block will return to the original position. Now I meet a weird thing, when I MOVE THE MOUSE TO THE EDGE OF TABITEM
CAREFULLY, the block will follow and return again and again. Have you ever meet this problem?

The MouseLeave and MouseEnter are routed events and this means that your event handlers will get invoked whenever a child element of the TabItem raises any of these events, for example when the mouse enters and leaves an element that is part of the control
template of the TabItem.
You also need to understand that the entire TabItem is not a single UI element. It is for example made up of a header and a content panel and this means that there will be at least one MouseLeave and one MouseEnter event raised when you move the mouse pointer
from the content panel area (which is made up of some elements) into the header area (which is made up of some other elements) and the other way around.
You need to reconsider your approach here because the MouseLeave and MouseEnter routed events will be fired even when the mouse pointer remains inside the area that you consider to belong to the single TabItem.

Internal and External Events

Hello,
Inside of the Event Loop Structure is there a way of telling if the event was triggered by a Front Panel change or by the Value Signaling property. I'm thinking I could use the value tabs to the left of the structure (maybe source or type), but I do not know exactly how these values are used. I could not find documentation on these tabs.

While there may be a way using the event structure I was unable in a short look to find it. I created a VI with a numeric control and a value change event that had indicators on the "source" and "type" connectors on the left side of the event frame. I created a sub-vi with a control ref input that was tied to a property node, val(sgnl). This was in a for loop set to execute a few times. This vi was set to run in the "other1" thread rather in the "same as caller" which would have been the UI thread. When I run this
the "Source" indicator on the top level vi shows LabVIEW UI and the "Type" as Value Change the same as if the control is actuated in directly in the higher vi ...

How to Calculate Freight and Acquisition Overheads on Material Price

Hi Gurus,
currently i am working in Product costing. my requirement is to calculate Freight and Acquisition overheads on Material Price.i have maintaind rates for condition types ZFRA , ZA2H and ZAOH by using MEK1 transaction code. eventhough system is not calculating this overheads while running CK11n. system showing only material price no other oveheads.
my intension is to estimate the cost for Purchased parts not for Manufacturted parts. for that i have given the priority in the Valuation Variant is Price from purchase record.
can anybody resolve my problem?

Thanks for your reply.According to my clients requirement i need to do material cost estimates for purchased materials thru ck11n.for this i have given priority as price from purchase info record in the Valuation Variant. my mm friends maintaind price in the purchase info record ME11.
In additions to this i also maintained rates for Freight,Acquisition and Customs condition types in MKE1.
Now if i run CK11n, system showing only Material Price which is in the Purchase inforecord but system not calculating any required overheads.
I need to calculate Overheads thru Condition types not thru Costing sheet.
If you see Price Simulation system calculating the Overheads accordingly.but same is not getting populating while running the CK11n.
In Valuation Variant under the Deivery Costs tab I have assign all required Condition types to Valuation Variants and Controlling area accordingly.
I hope that i explained my current problem clearly.can anybody give me the solution

Is it possible to sort the controls and indicators on the front panel?

Programming events would be much easier in an application with lots of
controls and indicators, if there where a means to sort and group them.
Is there any means to do so such that you see a sorted list when choosing the control that triggers an event etc..?

I am not aware of a way to sort the list of controls (that are listed in the edit events dialog) by name. They seem to be sorted in the order they were created.
I agree, sorting could be useful for large VIs.
