Controlling List Order

If I have a list of objects referenced in my entity via a OneToMany relationship, is there anyway I can control that the items in that list be sorted? I know I can sort the list after the fact but is there a way for me to tell Toplink to add an order by to the select clause that loads the list?
Thanks.

Forget that last post, I found the answer (the @OrderBy annotation) after some extra googling.

  • Controlling listing order in TOC

Hi, I have created a TOC that looks at only one paragraph style for a newsletter. On the first page of the newsletter there are two articles and I would like to be able to control which article shows up first. Is there any way to do this?
If you look at the picture included, I would like "Welcome" to show up before "Managing your Performance".
    Thanks

Well, almost. ID actually starts at the top left corner and moves down the page before moving to the right, so as long as the upper left edge of the frame with item you want listed first is left of the frame for the second item, it will work. Use a paragraph indent to push the text to the right if necessary.

I think we're thinking the same, but describing it in two different ways.
I did a few tests on this subject this morning, and InDesign only looks at the left edge of a text box, not the horizantal position, unless the two or more text boxes are within a certain range of each other. In my case 3.75 mm was the breaking point, both with standard rectangular text boxes, circles and parabels.
The solution Peter recommends is a good one. It will either require a manual overwrite of the paragraph style, a new paragraph style or making an indentation to the text box. The latter is the best solution, but all will sqewer the layout if you have a fill color in the text box. And make sure the indentation is greater than the breaking zone described above otherwise the fix won't do the trick. Im guessing this zone is to prevent errors in the index due to sloppy alignment of textboxes?

  • Is it possible to control the order that text flows appear when using them as text insets?

I want to create multiple flows in a FrameMaker file which I can then insert as text insets. I would like to choose the inset using the Body Page Flow: dropdown list. However, there seems to be no order, alphabetical or otherwise, in which these flow appear in the drop down list. Is it possible to control this order, or is there a particular reason it appears the way it does?
    Cheers,

IIRC, the flows are displayed in the order that they were created.

  • Access Control Lists on USB drive connected to AirPort Extreme

I have a Seagate 320GB drive mounted in a NexStar 2 IDE drive enclosure and connected via USB to my AirPort Extreme Base Station, running version 7.4.1 firmware upgrade.
Every time I restart the computer or unmount the network drive, an access control list appears to be written to the drive when there should be none, according to Disk Utility. I can tell when there are problems with the drive because the desktop icon turns from bright blue to grey-blue. I have to unmount the drive from the base station and connect it directly to the computer via firewire in order for Disk Utility to examine it. Generally, Disk Utility will report "Incorrect number of Access Control Lists (It should be 0 instead of (whatever number found) )
Does anyone know why these Access Control Lists are appearing? Is there any easy way to locate them and remove them, other than disconnecting it from the base station and connecting to the computer?
This problem happens with several different drives, in various NexStar 2 and NexStar 3 enclosures.

Same problem for me, exept that it happends after copying a file to the drive. It don't happend if I just mount and unmount the disc. The same for all discs I have tryed.

  • How can I control the order of playback on MuVu Mix (USB 2.

What determines the order of playback of music files stored on the MuVu Mix (USB 2.0)? How can I control the order?
Apparently it is not name order. The music titles are prefixed by sequential numbers. But that is not the order that the files play back.
I tried erasing all contents, then copying the files one by one to the MuVo Mix in the order that I want them to play back (name order). But that is not the order that the files play back.
By the way, in both case, I removed the ".dat" file first. (I also tried keeping the ".dat" file, to no avail.)

I did, and they confirmed (very quickly; kudos!) what you and I both expect: the play order is determined by the alphabetical order of the file names. The mistake was mine. I ass-u-me-d that the MSWin folder "Name ^" order was correct. I did not realize that it is not exactly alphabetical when the file name begins with a number (e.g, the track number). I had renumbered songs from a second CD by simply adding 00 to the track number. Thus, songs and 2 of the first CD are played after songs 08 and 09 of the second CD, as they should alphabetically, even though they appear in the order , 2, 08, 09 in the "Name ^" list. Klunk! Mea cupla!

  • Authorization control for ordering specific materials

    Hi Experts
Is it possible to set up control on specific materials, so that those materials can not be allowed for procurement unless the authorization is provided.
In this context, can we use DG profile and assign certain authorizations?
The specific requirement is intended for identifying such material as well as for providing authorization for ordering.
    warm regards
    marias

    Hi,
If you want to control on ordering material, you can set up Release Procedure, so that without approval ,purchase order can not be processed.
If you want to block the material for procurement, you can use Source list ( ME11), block the material , when ever required, you can remove the block and procure it and again block it.

  • Odd List Order in the Paragraph Catalog

I set up the paragraph catalog in FrameMaker 8, running on Windows XP. All listings were in alphabetical order, top-to-bottom. After logging on to the computer with a new user account and starting up FM, the paragraph catalog re-ordered itself into an odd mix of forward and backward alphabetical order.
Distinct letter ordering is still forward ("a" is listed above "b" which is in turn above "c"). This occurs for any combination of distinct letter groups ("bab" above "bcm" above "rlm" above "rxxx").
Reverse order occurs with repeat letter groups ("hhhh" above "hhh" above "hh" above "h") and with spaces ("bil" above "bi"). This reverse ordering is stopped by distinct letters (even though "bco" is above "bc", these both are above the following two: "blbn" and "blb". However, "blbn" is above "blb", which is reverse order again.)
This odd mix of reverse ordering inside forward ordering extends to keystroke recognition, which completely negates the use of keyboard shortcuts. When typing F9-h-h (to invoke the tag "hh H2" for Heading 2), the system proposes "hhhh" (tag "hhhh H4" for Heading 4) before tags with fewer h's ("hhh", "hh", and "h"). The system won't recognize the fewer letters.
After originally setting up the catalog, the odd reversing never took place and key recognition worked correctly. This brings up two questions:
    1. How can this odd reversing be undone and complete top-to-bottom alphabetical order be restored?
    2. Can users control the ordering of catalog listing to increase functionality by decoupling the keystroke mnemonic from the tag name (typically accomplished by entering the keystroke value in a separate field) and/or by decoupling the tag name from the catalog list position (manually move tags up or down the catalog regardless of tag name)?

    Sheila,
Item 2: Would a test of saving it as an .mif file and then opening it in FM 8 be a constructive test?
Item 3: I switched to QWERTY, set it as the default keyboard, and restarted the machine.
Upon opening the FM file, the pg catalog was still in the odd order. I then renamed a tag (from "h H1" to "hhhh H1"). The tag moved up above the tag "hhhh H4" which is still the odd order: it should be above that tag since 1 comes before 4, but both of those tags should be below "hhh H3" and "hh H2". The two hhhh tags are above the hhh and hh tags.
I don't think this is the issue because I originally created the tag names with a Dvorak keyboard active and the catalog order was correct and F9 keystrokes worked properly. Until logging on as a new user.
I'll test whether logging on as the old user resets the list.

  • Controlling Delete Order with One-To-Many

I have a class that has six 1-M mappings. All of them have a 1-1 back reference. I would like to control the order of deletion to ensure that one of the child collections is always deleted last.
It was suggested to me to use an after-load method to call addConstraintDependencies on the parent descriptor to control the order. This method is being called (before login) but it did not change the order. I added the after-load to the parent descriptor, adding the constraint dependency of the class I want deleted last.
I also tried using "multi-table info" (in addition to the regular one-to-many mappings) but that seems to cause the valueHolder to retrieve the items from the table twice, giving me a list with "doubles" of every item.
What can I do to control the order of the deletes of the children?
    Thanks,
    Allen

    Hi Don,
This is with reference to your comments on the following oracel forum query "http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=508819" regarding 1:M mapping insertion problem.(Same one)
Actually I also have the same kind of scenario but the data in not getting inserted to the detail table. It always gives ORA-1400 error as it is unable to populate the foreign key of parent in child table.
Can you suggest if I am missing something.
Your quick response will be appreciated.

  • Play/list order within "compilation" Album

I have a large number of "compilation" albums that I have created by converting selected songs from analog sources (LP's, Cassette, reel-to-reel). I can control the order of songs in these compiliation albums by adjusting the track numbers in the info section of iTunes.
HOWEVER, when I later separately import a song and want to add it to a compilation album already on iTunes the additional newly imported song (after filling in the song title, artist name, compilation album namem genre, and the track number I wish the new song to be) always gets put in at the beginning of the compilation album - despite the track number I give to it.
Anyone have any idea how I get get the songs into the order I want?
Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the response. The problem was NOT directed related to the view in iTunes. It had to do with how iTunes perceived a particular song when it was imported separately from other songs but when the information is manually filled in to make it part of a compilation album. Getting the songs in the desired order should have been as easy as changing the track numbers in "info". That did not work and my original question was "why"?
I have stumbled upon an answer (not sure where my inspiration came from). If, in a compilation album, you: 1) check the box that says compilation, and 2)manually put in the track numbers AND 3) PUT THE ALBUM ARTIST AS "VARIOUS", it all works and the list on iTunes and the play order (even without using a playlist) is in the order I designate.
Why the word "Various" should be a magic word that allows this all fall into place is beyond me - but in the back of my mind I remember seeing (don't know where) that in a compilation album the "album artist" field should be filled in with "Various". Now that I know the answer a search on the word "Various" or "compilation" will probably turn up the answer somewhere on the Apple support site of in a forum.

How do I control the order of all day events in iCal?  Even if I painstakingly try to

I have searched other forums and no one seems to have an answer to this.  Has

it is becomign frustrating when I print 2 months worth and ssome events are correct in order and alas some will change when I print again!
