Conversion of custom XML template news items to html

Hi All,
i am using xml form template for creating news items.the show form at present is rendered through showform.xml file, but i need to convert the show form to the html format ie the news item should be converted to html format and then get saved in KM content.
please tell if this is possible and if possible then what all i need to do.

Hi,
We are going to implement VSS ( Version Software Management Tool ) to manage the version / history of all custom objects.
For that we need to download all custom objects on another server.
it is very tedious and time consuming to download individual xml template from front end.

How to disable custom list --Add New Item in share point 2010

I have associated the workflow for the custom list .So i should not allow user to add any item on the custom list.

I understand that you want to restrict users from adding item to a list but they can do it from workflow.
You can break inheritance on that list and remove all permission.
Now run workflow using elevated privileges to add item to list

XML Forms - news message - send content as mail

Hi all,
our customer would like to have the possibility to send an XML forms news item by mail. Not just a mail with the link to the news item, but the content has to be displayed as HTML into the mail body.
Has anybody implemented this before or knows what would be the best way?
Perhaps an approach would be to create a new XML command that allows selection of one or two XML files and generate an e-mail?

1. Create a UI Command named like "Send Form by E-Mail"
Here is example

Modify this example according to your requirements.
Create a command group for your UI Command.
2. Then create a new layout set for your news items. In the resource renderer select your new command group for "Resource Command Group" and use your new Layout Set for your XML Forms.

How do you delete an XML template?

Does anyone know how to remove a custom XML template? I'm using 11.5.10 Rollup 2. I created an RTF template for AP Checks. But I've discovered that using a PDF template will be better suited to our needs. I can not change the template type to PDF. I deactivated the template, and tried to create a new template using a different template name , and code. I also created a new data definition using the new code. But when I try to save the new template I receive an error: "A template file already exists for this language/territory combination. Please use the update file option." I dont see an 'update file' option on this screen. I went back and tried to update the template by deleting the sample file, but it says "Delete button disabled". Does this mean, that I can only assign one template for the English/United States combination?! This is not a seeded template. How do I go about removing this template, so that I can set up a new one using the desired format. I've searched the net, but can't find any answers... Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks!

I never figured out how to delete a template.
However, now that I think about it, you may be able
to get around it. But you may have to jump through a few hoops first :)
Using System Administrator..
Try making a copy of the Concurrent Program.
(Go to Concurrent >> Program >> Define)
Query the existing program, then click the 'Copy To' button.
Change the Short Name slightly.
Be sure to check the "include parameters" and "include incompatible programs" boxes.
You will also need to make a copy of the actual rdf file and rename it slightly.
(In a subdirectory of $APPL_TOP i.e. /?/oracle/visappl)
Then you would register your new report executable (Concurrent >> Program >> Executable).
Once the new report executable has been registered, you can go back to your
new Concurrent Program, and change the executable name to the one you just registered.
Also, be sure to assign your new report to the same responsibility report group as the original
(Concurrent >> Security >> Responsibility >> Request).
Now, essentially you have cloned the original report, and you should be able to create a new RTF template for it. If you need more detailed steps, I may have some documentation for customizing reports somewhere.

Email Alert Template Issue - List Alerts (Alert Me) emails not using customized XML alert template

We have recently customized the XML alerts template (AlertTemplates.xml) for our site collection in SharePoint 2010 to exclude specific fields in the email when users who have subscribed using the "Alert Me" feature. We have renamed the
custom alerts XML file and loaded the custom template in the following directory (%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML) and restarted IIS. Once users subscribe to the alerts using the list "alert me"
function they received the customized email as intended.
We needed to auto-subscribe users to the email alerts so what we did was use a powershell script to add users to the alert subscriptions using the script shown below:

When we ran the script and added the users and restarted the service, all users who were auto-subscribed via this method get the email without the customizations that were done in teh custom alert template. All users who manually subscribed on their
own to the list using the "Alert Me" function would get the customized email.
Does anyone know why users who manually subscribe to the alerts get the customized email, and users who were auto-subscribed using the powershell script do not get the customized email and get the standard generic email template?

According to your code, it create a new alert using SPUser.Alerts.Add() method. For this method, it will create a new alert based on the predefined alert template by default.
If you only assigned the custom alert template to the list, users who manually subscribe to the alerts get the customized email, but users who were auto-subscribed using the PowerShell script get the standard
generic email template.
For your issue, you can set the new alert ‘s alert template:

Not 100% if I understood the question, but if you uploaded your template to the Master Gallery and the corresponding .js file has been created, you can open the refinement config panel and specify the result type you want to map to your custom template.

I have tried changing the "DataSourceMode" as below, now the insert command is working, but update command is not working.

How to set the column order of a sealed column in a custom Content Type for the new item form NewDocSet.aspx?

Please help.
I need to know How to set the column order of a sealed column in a custom Content Type for the new item form NewDocSet.aspx?
I think this is a "sealed column", whatever that is, which is shown in SPD 2013 as a column of content type "document, folder, MyCustomContentType".
I know when I set the column order in my custom Content Type settings page, it is correct.
But, when I load the NewDocSet.aspx page, the column order that I set in the settings page is NOT used for this "sealed column" which is bad.
Can you help?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to set the column order of a sealed column in a custom Content Type for the new item form NewDocSet.aspx.
Per my knowledge, if you have Content Type management enabled for the list or library (if you see a list of content type with the option to add more), the display order of columns is set for each content type.
Drill down into one of them and you'll see the option under the list of columns for that content type.
To apply the column order in the NewDocSet.aspx page, you need to:
Select Site Settings, under Site Collection Administration, click Content type publishing. In the Refresh All Published
Content Types section, choose Refresh all published content types on next
update.
Run two timer jobs(Content Type Hub, Content Type Subscriber) in central admin(Central Administration--> Monitoring--> Review timer jobs).

Cannot "Add new Item" in my SharePoint 2010 custom lists

Need more information about your XML data structure; however based on the code you provided, the synax does not look right; you have some colon sign where it is not needed etc... You could use the following (although not quite sure if you want to use Form Filed to group by or just display), but look at the example provided below.
<?for-each-group:G_BSALINE?> FORM FIELD .....<?end for-each-group?>
Example code:
<?for-each-group:G_INVOICE_NUM;./INV_TYPE?>
xxxxxxxxxx
<?end for-each-group?>

ACCESS DENIED when trying to use custom site template to create new Subsite

I am trying to create a new site using a custom template. I am the new admin here at the company. Other also are having "access denied" errors when trying to create the site using these custom templates.
However I can still create a site using the out of the box templates. I have given myself site collection admin (primary) and I am a farm administrator as well. Any ideas on why I keep getting access denied to specific templates?
The entire site collection is using the custom template. When I try to create a new site under the site collection with a custom template now, it says "access denied". Any ideas?

Note - I am able to use the Custom Site Templates in the test environment without any issues. Only in the production/live environment am I getting the access denied error.

I am not finding anything that comes up in the ULS logs about the access denied. I tried creating the site in the test environment using the custom template and it worked. I go to the production environment and try to create the site with the same template
and get "error:access denied - current user domain\user" I checked in the ULS logs as soon as the access denied appears (pretty quickly after pressing create) and there is nothing at that specific time. This is a huge problem, is there any way to
work around or fix this? I'm a new admin.

Add new custom tab to SC item

I want to add a new custom tab to SC item.
I've created an enhancement point within the component /SAPSRM/WDC_UI_SC_DOFC_D1 and I've added the new tab.
The problem is that when I select this tab in the portal a message is displayed as following:
"The screen component is unknown. The navigation must be canceled"
By the moment the tab is empty, but I've tried to add a ViewContainerUI Element and I've added an embed view in the window, but the same message is still displayed...
Do you know what i need to do in order to add this new tab?
