Conversion of NUMBER(2) to SMALLINT

One of our Oracle tables has some columns that are defined as NUMBER(2). When added to synchronisation, these field definitions appear as SMALLINT on the oracle lite database and allow a value of up to 32767, therefore breaking the Big Oracle column definition and resulting in synchronisation errors.
We are changing our application code to validate that the value entered into the column does not exceed 99 but is there any other way to avoid this datatype conversion

we have not yet tried R3 as this would require an app server upgrade in terms of the version of Red Hat, which has knock on effects to other services from the same app server, and we do not have time at the moment to look at the implications.
I did not raise a bug as in our case it actually highlighted that our database design was wrong - the number(3) column related to the number of properties being built on a housing development, and we validly have sites with the number running into the thousands, so we just increased the column size in this case.
My feeling is that it is related to the Java data type conversions on the client being different to oracle, and the point of the error was during the upload when the data was being unpacked into the in queues, and we got a 'value larger than specified precision' error

Hello Dhivya,
This is conversion error occurs when we are trying to move numbers to a filed which cannot hold numbers.
In st22 dump, you will find that number in "Short text".
Go to "source code" in abap dump and check for the data type of the filed where the dump is encounter.
Go to "chosen variable " in abap dump and you will be able to find the variable and its value.

Char conversion to number

I have a colmn called Kilometers in table of datatype varchar and has got morethan 20,000 numeric records in it.. only numbers are getting stored in that column.. now am creating one more table with column called kiometres with datatype number..
I want to insert the records of table A.Kilometres to B.Kilometres.. I tried the follwoing :
insert into project_mileage (kilometres) select (to_number(kilometres,'9999999')) from project
am getttin the error :
ora-01722. invalid number.
how can I get the records inserted..

If your data doesn't include other characters but numbers, you could rely on the implicit datatype conversion:
SQL> create table a(a varchar2(3));
Table created.
SQL> create table b(b number(3));

IMessage, Start new conversations from number missing?

I sign in with my Apple-ID. But then apperienlty you can choose which you will start new conversations from, hotmail or number, but that does not appear for me? Settings ---> Messages ---> Send and recieve. PLEASE HELP ME

This worked for me. Turn off iMessage in Settings---> Messages. Then turn off iPhone. Restart iPhone then turn iMessage back on. The phone number should reappear.

NUMBER: Integer and smallint datatype

If I create a table as:
create table t1(c1 integer, c2 smallint, c3 decimal)
The describe for t1 is:
Name Null? Type
C1 NUMBER(38)
C2 NUMBER(38)
C3 NUMBER(38)
Is there any way to differentiate or determine that these three columns were created with different
datatypes ?
I tried to use JDBC's DatabaseMetaData and ResultsetMetaData and they all return the values as 'NUMBER'
type. I should get the actual 'INTEGER', 'SMALLINT', 'DECIMAL' type. Is there any way to know
about this information. Atleast can I query the system table or dictionary to get this information ?

seems that since the types you mentioned are all subtypes of NUMBER, they are actually stored as a NUMBER with only a possible distinction in their scale and precision (to be found in sys.col$). Funny. IMO you won't be able to find out how the columns were created initially.

Smartform to PDF Conversion with number of copies to be printed

I have requirement to display pdf in an iview for which i created a smartform and converted it into PDF using the Function Module 'CONVERT_OTF'.
Now my requirement is, when the user press the 'Print' option in the Adobe Reader, automatically 3 copies needs to be printed..
Is there any way to do this? If so, please let me know.

Month conversion to number

Need help guys,
i have below query
SELECT (SUBSTR(TO_CHAR(TO_DATE('JAN-2000','MM/YYYY'),'MM-RRRR'),1,9)) FROM DUAL;
this returns the output 01-2000.
If the month is in calender month then it will work correctly.
suppose if the month is not in calender month suppose if i pass ADJ-RRRR,then it should return ADJ-RRRR.How can achieve this using DECODE?

If you want to read 'JAN-07' as 'JAN-2007', use 'RRRR' instead of 'YYYY' in the 2nd argument to TO_DATE. There's no point in using 'RRRR' in TO_CHAR.
If you want to equate ADJ with December, then instead of col1, use
REPLACE ( UPPER (col1)

        , 'DEC'
        )You won't need to use UPPER again, of course.

Corrupted Number Ranges After Unicode Conversion

Has anyone had corrpted number ranges after UC conversion
After a Unicode conversion the number ranges are no longer valid?
We are doing a Unicode conversion from Informix to DB6 unicode on AIX.

I never heard from any Unicode conversion customer that number ranges did not work anymore after the Unicode conversion. Maybe the DB migration plays a role here ?

WBS Element - Order Number Relationship

Hi,
I need to know the specific Order Number (example: PM order) with cost posting on WBS element. I am use COVP / COEP field OBJNR to see the WBS Element (those starts with PR*), but I do not know which field is the Order Nmber contained in the table.
Please advise in which table can I see the linkage between WBS and Order number for cost postings.

Syntax Error while running step 34 (35) after unicode conversion

Problem in converting number to character

Hi All,
In my report there is number field called <?LINE_TOT_AMOUNT?>. In the next line i want to display that amount in words. I tried using
<?xdofx:to_char(LINE_TOT_AMOUNT)?>
but the output is same as the <?LINE_TOT_AMOUNT?>. Can any one help in solving this?

look at TO_CHAR (number)
if LINE_TOT_AMOUNT is number then to_char(LINE_TOT_AMOUNT) in string
it's not display that amount in words
it's only format row

but without conversion

Result:1159892707453
Suppose i have value as date like 2006-10-03 19:25:07
I need to convert to number 1159892707453
Please note I have used standard webmethod conversion for number to date, But my developer who want know the conversion of date format to number format as mentioned above.

For the number to date conversion you may find the following helpful. It works with daylight savings also - not sure if it is an issue for your region. You can get the timezone names from V$TIMEZONE_NAMES;
SQL> SELECT

Apex 4.2: Date picker & format mask number

Hello
In Apex 4.2, in a Date Item, how can I modify the date picker to set Monday as the start of week day? I can set Monday as the start of week day on a calendar, but not in a Date Item.
In a Number Item, there's no format mask to set the comma char as a decimal separator and the dot char as a thousand separator. How can I create a new format mask number?

for the Date Item, you can check this link, you have to call the process on the page load

and for the Number format, there's a little trick involved, will try to explain
First of all convert you items from Number field to simple Textfield.
1. Write this in your items Post Calculation Computation: TO_CHAR (:item_name, '999G999G999G999G990D00', 'NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS = '',.''')This will do the number formatting you want, but in oracle above format is not acceptable, so while submitting the above values to database we need to undo the changes for that you can use the below code.
2. Create a Computation "After Submit" for every item you did the above formatting and copy this code in it: replace(replace('1.00.00,00','.',''),',','.') for the 2nd step you can create a package/function which will get the items value as string and do the conversion as number using above code and return back the number.
This should help you.
