Conversion of old Microsoft images

I have many old Microsoft Picture It images stored on my off line hard drive. I cannot convert them to be able to capture them in Aperture. Has anyone dealt with this? These are images: xxx.mix. I really would like to be able to recover them, but my old PC has died and the software with it.
Thanks!!

I don't know if you can open them on the mac, but you might try a virtual windows machine on your mac, or even crossover office with an old copy of word to get it converted. Here's some pointers:

  • MDT and old WIM Images

    Hello everyone;
We are migrating our WDS 2008 Server to a WDS 2012 Server, and i'm trying to configure MDT to facilitate client deployment. until now, i was able to add an image using a OS install DVD with MDT. We also have some .wim images used on the old WDS, and i'm
trying to exploit them on the new one. So I added one image on MDT, and created a task sequence for it. But when i tested it, i had this error: Failure ( 5624 )
So my question is:  is it possible to add those old images to MDT?

     Thanks for your reply Nick
1- the error appeared when i tried to install the image in a desktop
2- i want to add the old .wim image to MDT to be able to manage them (windows update through WSUS, install new applications...). After that, i add the litetouch PE to WDS
3- BDD.log: the log is too long, i'm able to only paste this part:

  • JPEG color difference between Adobe Raw and Microsoft Image Viewer

When I calibrate my monitor or use the monitors ICC file which came with the Monitor, there is a color difference between Camera Raw image and the JPEG I save from Camera Raw, displayed in Microsoft Image Viewer.
However, if I make my ICC file for the system to be SRGB Color Space Profile, and go through the same conversion, the JPEG image created and viewed in Microsoft Image viewer is identical to the one seen in Camera Raw.
It appears therefore, that the operating system only uses SRGB Color Space profile for Microsoft Imaging Viewer?
Most people I give photos to, do in fact look at them in microsoft viewer.
How can I use the ICC profile for my calibrated monitor and end up with the same results in terms of color with Camera Raw and Microsoft image and Fax Viewer.

All profiles are not created equal.  There's a basic version issue (ICC v4 vs. earlier), and profiles are complex things containing many fields.  Lots of things can go wrong in the creation of a proper color transform from the combination of the document and device profiles, and it kind of depends on what color management code the software uses whether it can be done properly.  Adobe has their own - the Adobe Color Engine - and there are others such as LittleCMS or even Microsoft's system-provided ICM that application designers may be using in their code.
It may be that the profile your calibrator/profiler has produced for your monitor (or other device) isn't compatible with every application.  It happens.
This isn't intended to provide a solution or workaround, just to help explain things a bit.

  • How do I delete an old Microsoft exchange email account from my phone without it automatically deleting many of my contacts?

I have an old Microsoft Exchange Email Account on my phone that I no longer use. I never synced my contacts with this email account. Yet, if I delete it, it destroys my contacts. Do I just need to have this email account permanently on my phone? It's really annoying and I want to get rid of it, but have no idea what to do. Thanks!

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it.
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps - you should be able to logout of the old account via Settings > Store and log in with you new account for new purchases.

  • Does Lion support the old microsoft word for MAC files?

Does Lion support the old microsoft word for MAC  files? I have heard that if i down load  Lion then my Word files for Mac will not function or work. Is this true?? I don't want to download Lion if this happens.

The file type does not matter, the program you use to open the file does.
You need a newer version of word (or a third party program).
You can use openoffice as well.

will my old iphoto images be in the lion upgrade?

Before you upgrade anything you must make a back up of all your important data.
Install. The photos should be there afterwards, if not then you have your back up, right?

  • I have a keyboard that i'd like to use...don't hate me, but, it's my old microsoft keyboard. My IMAC isn't recognizing it. Is there any way I might get it to work? Thanks!

Is it possible to sync my old microsoft keyboard to my IMAC?  I don't have the funds to buy a new one right now and like a larger keyboard...don't hate me...I love my MAC but need a larger keyboard for now.
    Thanks!!!

USB keyboards are generic and should work without any difficulty.
If it's a wireless keyboard, it may or may not work, depending on the drivers Microsoft uses. The following instructions apply to Apple Bluetooth keyboards but it may be useful as a general resource: Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard. Be sure to refer to the Bluetooth Quick Assist link as well.
More information may be found in Bluetooth frequently asked questions
There is no way to know whether your keyboard will work or not in advance, but there is no harm in attempting to use one or the other.

  • How do I change my setting so documents no longer open automatically in an old microsoft word vs word10?

I was trying to download a document, however, it wanted to open it in word10 but I don't have that installed on my computer. I then browsed for the old version of word I have and preceded to have it automatically open the document there but when it did, it was symbols and things that were not readable. I tried to download the document again and now it pulls up word with that same document. I need to know how I can go have it set so that it doesn't automatically do that anymore but ask how it did initially? Help!

  • Can I access old Microsoft Office files on a Mac?

Am considering getting rid of my old PC and just using my Mac only, with Microsoft Office for Mac.  Woud i be able to access my old MS Office files from my PC on my Mac or not?
    Many thanks

    To be clear:
Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 (2008 as well) don't include Access since Microsoft has never ported it to Mac OSX.
In this thread Re: microsft access database for mac? are some hints as to work with Access databases in Mac OSX.

  • I am trying to organize thousands of images in aperture.  The dates on the old scanned images is all 2008, when I started importing them.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

I am trying to organize thousands of old images in aperture.  Aperture dates them all in 2008, when I started this project.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

I just tried a test library, re-imported fresh images from a hard drive, and the date changes still revert.
So neither your external drive nor your Aperture library are to blame.
What do you mean test in a different user acct?  Would it be a good idea to uninstall and re-download aperture 3?
    Appreciate all your help.
I meant the trouble shooting procedure described here:  Isolating an issue by using another user account
To test, if some settings in your user account are faulty or preferences files corrupted, it helps to create a new user account from the "Users&Groups" System preferences. With a brand new user account you can see, if something in your current account is causing this.
Should you see, that Aperture is not even working from a new and clean account, I'd reinstall Aperture, and if need be the Operating system.  Are you using any plug-ins?

  • Suddenly, system produces a "microsoft image writer," freezes, then crashes when I try to print from a web page. This is new, just past week or so.

For the past week or two, when I desire to print from a web page or email and hit the "print" command, instead of my printer name the printer window displays 'microsoft document image writer." Then it asks me to save (in which case it appears in my documents) or print to file. Then, if it works, it produces a window with an image of the page. And once or twice, I can then print. But usually, it produces a blank screen, an endless hourglass, a "not responding" message, and then the blue screen of death.

  • How to open old Microsoft 97-2004 docs in Mac OS X

I recently upgraded to Mac OS X on my Imac but have many many important microsoft word 97-2004 documents that no longer open.  Can I reinstall this version of Microsoft Office to open my old documents?  Thanks in advance!

Will you answer my question please.
Did you pay someone to install Office without giving you the disk.
In the meantime you can Download the trial of Office 2011 for free, (you can download it from here) you can use it for 30 days, ask the vendor for your license code (you purchased it when you purchased Office), enter it in the trial version on your computer and it will become a full version.
The suggestion to use Mail for now is also good, and is the fastest way to get going as well.
