Conversion XML-Text atom

Hi all
I have developed a scenario step which reads txt files from a directory and generates journal vouchers based on the data in the files. This is made using the file inbound and specifying a control document for mapping values in the file to xml.
I now want to rewrite this step to use void inbound and read the files in the processing flow of the scenario. The reason for this is that i want to copy the file to a backup folder when it is succesfully imported. Ref sample.000 in B1IF.
My question is now; how can I use my Format Control Document when I read the files in a GetFile atom in the processing flow? I see there is an atom where you can do txt2xml conversion and vice versa, and I guess this should give me the possibility to use my Format Control Document, but there is no documentation on how the preciding transformation atom should look.
Have any of you got any excperience using this atom and can give me some hints on how to use it?
Best regards
Bengt Skrettingland

Hi Bengt,
the GetFile atom does not (yet) support the "Format Control Document" logic as it is used for File INBOUND.
Please create a support message to prioritize the alignment of File Inbound logic with the GetFile atom logic.
Best regards
Bastian
P.S.: the documentation for the GetFile atom in general can be found in Online Help under search tag "Download File (Read) Atom".

    Hi,
    Use &#x7B;code} tags to post formatted code on the forum.
    That way, your code will be more readable for everyone, and more importantly here, everyone will be able to clearly see what's bothering you :
    &apos;sThe single quote was encoded with the character entity reference "&amp;apos;".
    The conversion is not mandatory but it happens Oracle is doing it in this case.
    It shouldn't be a problem though.
    If you want to extract the value afterwards, it'll come as expected :

    SQL> insert into ftr_ctl values (1,

    alrighty then try this xml structure.
    Note: formatting information like b, or linkage tags should
    not be part of the xml.
    The XML format is a universal format for data, if you fill it
    with style information this is not good practive (in general, there
    are of course scenarios where it makes sense, also since (x)html IS
    also XML).
    In your case you want to put the information about multiple
    companies in a xml file, but you let the flash decide how to
    display format this information.
    so if you use the sugested XMl structure you will have full
    control of the layout within flash, because you can grab every
    piece of information from the xml and place it jsut where you want
    in flash and format it within flash.
    Of course this process is more coding work than your previous
    attempt, but it pays of when you have a lot of data to process and
    when you want to have full control of the final layout.
    But maybe its overkill for your application (I don't know how
    many companies will be stored in your xml and how complex the rest
    of the app is).

    I'm trying to load in XML text. I'm looking for an efficient

    Ideally, I'd like the text to fade in and out with the image.
    Maybe adding a subtle animation/movement to the text box would be

  • Using currency conversion and text variable at the same time

    Hi all,
    In a 3.5 bex query, i am applying currency conversion on a key figure with a variable of 0currency.
    as i know, to be able to apply currency conversion, variable of currency should not be in Free characteristics or in Filter.
    it has to be selected only on the key figure.
    but now, i want to use text variable for selected currency (with type replacement path). But as i know, to be able to use text variable, variable of currency has to be
    in Free characteristics or in Filter.
    Can you please advise, how to both use currency conversion and text variable on currency?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sancho

    Sancho,
    I'm not 100% sure about this, but I'm thinking that if you are pulling the text variable from a selection in a structure, you should not need it in the free characteristic or filter. Try creating a structure, placing the currency in it as a selection, and creating a text variable as the title for the selection that is based on the currency. This may help.
    Cheers,
    Rusty

  • Save an Image object into a XML text document

    ello:
    I have a problem with saving an image. I need to encapsulate it into two XML tags:
    <Image> xxxxxx </Image>
    The "xxxx" must be a String that represents my Image object.
    In J2ME I haven't serialization, and all the examples about "manual serialization" works with primitive types :(
    I've already read that I can do .getRGB() over my Image object, and obtain an array of int, wich represent each pixel. Ok, I can transform the array into a String, and write it in my XML text document, but later: how I obtain my array from that String?
    Thak you very much

    private Image img;
    byte rgb[] = null;
    private rgbLength; // get lenth of your string
    rgb = new byte(rgbLength);
    rgb = ... //load data from string to this array
    img = createRGBImage(rgb, int width, int height, false) ;You must know length of your string and must encapsulate in to XML width and height of this image;

  • Implicit conversion of "TEXT" to "VARCHAR"

    Running jdk1.6.0_12, Linux RHE, Sybase 12.5 and connection with jconn3.jar
    Have a table with a column of type varchar(50)
    Was able to isolate the problem to this column, as the SQLException was thrown from the line "stmt.setString("@<colname>", <value>);"
    In doing ~14,000 individual inserts in 30 min I had two Exceptions thrown (Implicit conversion of "TEXT" to "VARCHAR" is not allowed), both at the same place and both repeatable. I put a print statement in the catch block and found that both were inserting the same 6 character string.
    Ran all the docs several times more and got the same number of failures on the same files.
    Querying the database I found that I had almost 5,000 other insert of the same string which were sucessful.
    Not able to identify what was different about the two failures, no unprintable characters, etc.
    Is this a JDBC issue or Sybase?
    What are the reasons that would cause this exception to be thrown when inserting 6 characters into a hole for 50?
    other ideas?

    You would need to print the integer value of each character to insure they are the same.
    You should do that starting with the source and NOT what is in the database.
    If different then that is the source of the problem.
    If the same then it is probably just a bug in the driver/database which you are stuck with. Various solutions would be to try a conversion (format the SQL to take a text and convert to varchar) or trying playing with the commit level (commit 50 versus 5000 or whatever.)

  • Flattening XML text

    Given the following XML snippet:
    <adjustments>
    <adjustment>Add <bonus>10</bonus> points
    if completion time less than
    <completionTime>60</completionTime>
    seconds.</adjustment>
    <adjustment>Add <bonus>15</bonus> points

    <opponentRank>5</opponentRank>.</adjustment>
    <adjustment>Add <bonus>5</bonus> points if
    the temperature is above <temperature>75</temperature>
    degrees Fahrenheit.
    </adjustments>
    How would I output each adjustment as text like the
    following? In other words, how can I "flatten" the XML text?
    Add 10 points if completion time less than 60 seconds.
    Add 15 points if opponent rank is higher than level 5.
    Add 5 points if the temperature is above 75 degrees
    Fahrenheit.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    adjustments.text() returns an empty string, of course. And
    something like adjustments.adjustment[0].text() returns just:
    Add points if completion time less than seconds.
    It doesn't have the text of of the child nodes.
    What I need is the text of a parent node and all of the child
    nodes in one string. Even if I iterate over the parent and all the
    descendants, I don't see any way of properly placing the text from
    the children into the text from the parent.
    Any other ideas?

  • Loading an image in an XML text file

    I've gotten the DateChooser component to work very well
    loading dynamic text fields with data from an external XML file.
    Can I embed a jpeg into the XML text like I would with the
    <img> tag in an HTML text file?
    Many thanks in advance for any tips...
    George

    I assume your XML looks something like this...
    <event date='11/11/1111'>
    <PerformerName>SomeInfoHere</PerformerName>
    </event>
    You could add the image info anywhere you want in the XML.
    Perhaps an attribute of the PerformerName tag?
    <PerformerName
    image='myImage.jpg'>SomeInfoHere</PerformerName>
    or
    <PerformerName image='
    http://www.myDomain.com/images/myImage.jpg'>SomeInfoHere</PerformerName>
    When you parse the XML data and build your Array, then you
    just need to capture the additional tag attribute. Similar to how
    you got the date attribute.
    Then at that point you would add it into the textField of
    your info_txt.
    Read this page in the docs to see how to add the image.

    Hi,
    by the book these two representations are identical
    <.... />
    <....></....>
    as for the XML-parser.
    What problem are you facing with the <... /> representation?
    I will try to investigate a bit to see if the XMLBean can be forced to write the <....></....> representation.

  • Urgent, Help on conversion: xml to flat file

    Dear experts,
    Here is the scenario, XML FILE ->XI-> JMS
    In JMS recevier side, we use localejbs/AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean to convert xml to flat file.
    Transform.Class: com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.Conversion
    Transform.ContentType: text/plain;charset=utf-8
    xml.conversionType: SimpleXML2Plain
    xml.fieldFixedLengths: 5,20,5,8
    When input source xml file contents are non-unicode, it works fine.
    But when the contents contain unicode characters such as Chinese word,  it works but with wrong length in the output flat file. It seems xi treat one Chinese word length is 1. Actually, one chinese word should take 2 bytes.
    My question is how to make XI handle unicode characters  with correct lengths while conversing to flat file.
    Thanks in advance.

    Jai Shankar
    Thanks for your response.
    I am already using the standard adapter modules provided by SAP:
    localejbs/AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean
    Transform.Class: com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.Conversion
    My input file's encoding is UTF-8
    "You need to change the encoding scheme according to your input file" , do you mean change the output file's encoding or else?
    I can't find the article you mentioned: "Encoding schemes in XI", Would you please give me the link?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Importing XML Text files with Indesign friendly 'Carriage Returns'

    Hi,
    I have a question wrt importing XML into Indesign.  I have my text stored in Excel (Fig A) and intend to export as an XML file where each line will represent each page.  However, my first attempt failed to treat the 'carriage returns' as I'd envisaged:
    The 'carriage returns' used within an Excel cell (ALT-ENTER) are maintained when transforming to a CSV file (Fig B).  However, when converting to an XML file, the conversion only takes place on a line by line basis and hence the XML file becomes incomplete (Fig C).
    So, it appears I need to make sure that the CSV file contains one line per entry, while also maintaining the actual carriage returns in my source spreadsheet and for Indesign to recognise them.  In order to do this, I'll need to substitute the 'carriage returns' in my excel column to be represented by a new set of characters.  My question is how can I let Indesign know to recognise this set of characters to be converted to a carriage return, when importing text.
    For example, if this set of characters was '%%%%%%', then my new csv file would look like Figure D and the XML would be produced correctly, like Figure E.  Then importing this XML file to InDesign, the carriage returns would automatically be reinstated, hopefully.
    I hope someone can help me as I am only starting out in Indesign and feel Im running before I can walk by venturing into the XML/Indesign arena too soon.
    Best Regards
    Luke

    Hi,
    Thanks for all the responses.
    With regard to XML, it could well be an issue has crept in because I am using another utility to convert my csv's to xml and maybe there are better options out there. I will take a look for other utilities and try that (Its not possible from Excel easily, even though there is an option to save as an XML file).
    Secondly, because the XML was readable by internet explorer, I assumed it had a satisfactory standard XML format which would be accepted by any program, including InDesign.  This proved true, since the XML file i generated was actually recognised by my Indesign document and populated the tags correctly, albeit without any carriage returns.
    When I save my excel sheet as a csv, it does actually hold the carriage returns causing multiple lines per entry, hence why I need to substitute the actual carriage returns in my excel sheet to a alternative character set so that the entry remains on one line.
    Re: Double quotes on text fields.  Im sorry, I didnt realise I had commas in my sample csv example.
    I should have corrected it, but I intend on using semi-colons as my csv delimiter and don't intend on having semi-colons in my excel sheet itself, so I possibly won't need any double-quotes.
    So, it looks like this is what I need to do ;
    i)   Add a column in Excel which substitutes all the carriage returns with a line break identifier (^n).
    ii)  Convert Excel file to a semi-colon csv holding this new column,
    iii) Convert csv file to XML using a good CSV->XML utility,
    iv)  Add the respective XML tags to my INDD document,
    v)   Add a GREP rule which does a find/replace on all instances of ^n and replace with a line break,
