Yes, that's the correct setting for "normal"  high definition video shot at 30fps though I think we may all be getting a bit confused.
If you want to see what FCP X can do, download the 30 DAY FREE TRIAL from here:-

  • Panasonic TM900 Owners Who Successfully Converted 1080 60p Video for FCPX

I am looking for Panasonic TM900 owners only please!!
(Please don't respond unless you have converted 1080 60p video from a TM900 camcorder)
Thanks to Tom Wolsky, it appears there is a resolution for how to get 1080 60p video into FCPX that is like quality with no degradation via ClipWrap.
What I am looking for is other TM900 owners who have successfully done this and are pleased with the results, i.e. no degradation in video quality, no weird video artifacts added or random blank green frames added every second or so.
What did you use, i.e. ClipWrap, Aunsoft Final Mate, etc?
Was the process simple or were there a lot of "tuning" steps required?
I am at a loss here because I love my TM900 especially with 1080 60p video and was hoping the AVCCAM Importer would be the saviour we all thought it would but unfortunately it is only for Qucktime 7 and Final Cut Pro, not FCPX.
I am trying to figure out what to do, purchase FCXP assuming you guys have had great success converting or wrapping the .mts files, buy the add on product or purchase another program which has this support built in, i.e. Adobe Premier Pro or worse yet, go back to my PC.
I just want to be able to make simple edits with transitions, create a nice DVD menu and output to Blue-ray.
    Appreciate some feedback!!

I used final mate to help make MTS videos compatible by mac as I do not want the immediate rendering when importing videos to FCP. If you want to burn MTS files to blu ray disc. Why not try Toast? Refer to this post:

    Hi,
The software provided for your device does not include OCR functionality
You may use any 3rd part OCR solution to scan as editable text.
If you have Microsoft Office suite there is a good chance the office suite provide this kind of capabilities:
    Office 2007 or 2010:

  • Convert mts files for editing in Final Cut?

Is there a way to convert mts files for editing in Final Cut Express or Pro?

Well, first, if you are talking about AVCHD video, FCE & FCP can directly import it from your camcorder.  They will also import AVCHD from an SD card or even your hard drive provided you have saved the entire AVCHD folder structure, not just the .mts files by themselves.
If you only have the .mts files (without the surrounding AVCHD folder strucutre) then you should be able to use MPEG Streamclip to convert them to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec for editiing in FCE.  MPEG Streamclip is free and works great.
If that doesn't work, then look into ClipWrap, which has a $49.99 price tag.
This will work the same for converting .mts files to ProRes assuming you already have FCP installed, which gives you the ProRes codec.
FCE & FCP do not, however, directly import video from DSLRs because the camera manufacturers have each done some proprietary stuff in their implementation of video in their DSLRs.  However, if you have a Canon DSLR & FCP (that is, FCP 7) there is a Canon EOS video plugin that will enable you import the video directly from the DSLR into FCP7.  Not sure it's supported on Lion (10.7.x) just yet, but if you have a Canon DSLR it's worth a look.

  • I want to use my Time Capsule as a central 'hub/hard-drive' in order to keep all my working files in one place. I then plan to use my laptops/desktops as peripheral devices for editing and creation of these files. Is it possible? Create a personal cloud?

I want to use my Time Capsule as a central 'hub/hard-drive' in order to keep all my working files in one place. I then plan to use my laptops/desktops as peripheral devices for editing and creation of these files. Is it possible? To create a personal cloud?
Can someone advise as to whether i can do the following:
Future Internet connection -------------------TIME CAPSULE (containing all files) -------------- Backed up on the WD 2T Hard-drive I have
(not connected yet)                                         I                                                          (*connected to timecapsule physically)

Macbook Pro                             iMac                                       HP (PC)                                             OLD Macbook Pro                         iPhone
(used for remote working)       (Used for home working)     (used for heavy CAD and rendering)    (not being used for anything at the moment)        (& iPods)
I am looking to have all my files in one place as i am hopelessly disorganised. I know the online clouds are a good solution (used Dropbox at work and uni for 3 years) however i am wanting to create my own 'dropbox/icloud' at home. So whenever i get back home with my laptop, any work i have been working on whilst out that day is updated to the timecapsule, and then ultimately as i turn on the other devices, they update to those newer versions of the files. Please tell me that the 3TB time capsule i have can do this, otherwise it feels rather overpriced as a wireless storage device?
Another note (to those in the know) If i am to be working on large files (REVIT/SOLIDWORKS/KEYSHOT/CREO/AUTOCAD) - is the timecapsule connection good enough to support editing and updating these files?
I know i may be asking a question that many have before, but as a bit of a technical novice I wanted a clear-cut answer to my specific circumstances. Your help is greatly appreciated.
(*can i use this WD hard-drive that is connected to the Time Capsule as a back up? so that the time machine back-ups/any back ups are also backed up onto this one? can the WD be a backup for the TC?)
    Kind Regards
    Joe

The diagram was supposed to look more like this......
Internet ---------TIME CAPSULE(containing all files) --------WD 2T Harddrive
                                                I
         I                           I                          I                            I                                   I

  • How to use same jsp for edit and add form

    Hi,
I would like to use the same .jsp file for edit and add. I just want to change a few controls based on edit/add mode. How do I configure this in the jsp?

In the environment I currently have access to do not have similar setup.
Let say you setup the DFF1 default value to $HEADER.customer_name, the name of the DFF is CUSTOMER_NAME, description can be anything.
In DFF2, default value should be a SQL, where you can reference the DFF1. For example, SELECT DECODE($FLEX.CUSTOMER_NAME, 'ABC', 1, 'DEF', 2, NULL) FROM dual
In this case, you can reference the DFF1.

  • Convert .fla files for Safari and Chrome

    hi boys,
i need to convert .fla file for Safari and Chrome.
i pay for that, after new file is tested, and is ok.
    the fee is 40$/file

I'm afraid you have quite a few html errors on the page I tested  (about us page) that really need to be fixed - and some of them are likely the cause of the browser rendering the pages differently.
    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.newpathstherapy.com%2Fabout.h tml
For example, you can only use an ID once per page.
Also a few CSS errors: - in particular the first one - where you have the missing # hash tag before the color declaration.  The others relate to the styleing of the scrollbar - which isn't worth the effort really because is a PC IE only thing anyway:
    http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww. newpathstherapy.com%2Fabout.html
I think you have 'overwritten the code for the menu.. particularly the way you have used the IDS - which is causing an issue anyway.  The menu can be made more simply and minimally styled with css - see this list of styling list menus:
    HORIZONTAL / VERTICAL MENUS:
    http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/
You need to fix those errors and then see how the page stands.  If you have further problems after the 'fix', then post back.

  • Should I xfer HDV 1440x1080i to ProRes 1440x1080p for editing and internet?

    Hello:
I still get a bit confused about Pro Res, etc. So if anyone can point me in the right direction on this I'd be thankful.
I shot HDV video at 1440 x 1080i (interlaced) as that's the format my old-ish Sony HVR-Z1U (already shot, looks great - that's the camera I had so no lectures).
My question is should I transfer it to ProRes 1440 x 1080p (progressive) for editing and later encoding as h264 video for the web? Is there any advantage to doing this and if so at what stage should I do it?
Should I do before the edit? After the edit (and before the h264 encode)? Or is it necessary to do it all?
    Final output is internet only.
Thanks in advance for any help or pointers

    Good information. Many thanks.
On the contradictory element... I have heard (and occasionally practiced) that bringing in the video from tape as ProRes speeds up the editing process (doesn't take so long to render, etc.). I'm all for keeping things as simple as possible and keeping things native would be best - but don't you find it takes up more drive space and takes longer to render?
My project will be 20 mins in length when completed, and does involve some green screen chroma keying - so I'm up for anything that does not need constant re-rendering (which has been an issue when working with native/uncompressed HDV video).
    Thanks again.
    A

  • I have an illustrated book stored in iPhoto projects that has been printed once but will be annually updated.  If I upgrade to Mavericks, will this still be available to me for editing and reprinting.

I have an illustrated book saved in iPhoto projects which I plan to update and reprint in future.  If I upgrade my Macbook to Mavericks from Yosemite, will I still be able to access, edit and reprint this?

If you're going to update the book each year I suggest you follow this tutorial to save the book in it's own library.  That isolates it from the day to day library which could experience problems resulting in loss of project, i.e. the book: iP12 - Archiving an iPhoto 9 (11) Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date
The book library is often small enough that it can be copied to a CD or DVD for off computer backup.

  • How do I optimally convert 1080/60p AVCHD to MPEG2 SD for buring onto a DVD?

    Hello Forum,
I am using Pr CS5.5. I've imported and edited AVCHD 1080/60p files (from a Panasonic TM700), done my editing, and now I want to burn the project onto DVDs. Sending it to Encore, using default settings there, and burning a DVD produced pretty lousy results.I'm guessing that using Adobe Media Encoder to do the conversions would be a lot better, and I watched a tutorial by Jeff Bellune on how to do this in CS4. Two things that have changed since then are the new 1080/60p format for AVCHD, and that Pr CS5.5 has some more features in its AME window. Does anyone have any suggestions on what settings to use? Also, is 1080/60p like 720/60p, where Bellune's recommendation is to do the conversion in two steps, one for down sizing and one for interlacing? Thanks!!

The first question is - do you have a CUDA card?   If so, export directly from PP (using export instead of queue) to DVD MPEG2 using as high a bit rate as you can while still fitting the footaage on the DVD (don't go past '8' for reliabilty issus on older players).  Set the audio to Dolby 192.
CUDA cards produce the best down scaling of any of the other options (i.e. non CUDA or queuing in Media Encoder) due to the algorythms used.
If you don't have a CUDA card then make sure you check the "Use Maxmimum Render Quality" in the export dialog.  This will slow the export down considerably but it's worth it.
DO NOT export directly to Encore and have Encore do the conversion because it will be lower quality all round.
95% of everything se delivery needs a DVD making, so we went through of a lot of trial and error to get the best quality possible!

  • Whats the best/fastest format to convert avchd to, for edit purposes?

Whats best format to convert 1920/1080 avchd to, for editing purposes?
I tryed converting to HDV but didnt like the quality. I then tryed to convert the raw avchd files to mpeg2 @ 35 mbps. That is much cleaner but renders slow...about 1-1 ratio.
Looking for a codec that is fast to convert to & clean.
I have aPC, Win 7,  6 core, 32 gig ram,Raid 0,  fast cuda card ect...

AVCHD has the same data rate as DV, so shuttling that fast will not be a disk problem, even from a single drive, let alone a RAID 0.  If it stutters, it's a CPU thing.
Conversion to any other format is going to expand the data rate significantly, requiring your RAID to work harder.  Though the CPU will likely work less, so that could fix the stuttering.
You can always add all the clips to a sequence, and then add that sequence to the Source Monitor for editing as if it were one long clip.
Having said all that, if you still feel the need to convert then I recommend the free and lossless UT codec.  You can export out the combined clips right from PP, and the new media will not suffer any quality loss due to conversion.

  • Converting H.264 for Editing in Premiere Elements 9

    Hi!
What is the best way to convert my MOV H.264 files off my Canon T2i for editing in premiere. I've heard several people say that H.264 is NOT an editing codec, and it seems to be true. I am editing a shoot with the files directly off the camera and IT IS SLOW!  When you go to export in Premiere it says that AVI files are what you should use for editing in Premiere, but my problem is that I don't know which is the best codec and quality to use. I want Full HD but I'm not sure how to transcode without losing quality. Any suggestions? Please help! Thanks.

Unfortunately, video from the Rebel series isn't supported natively in Premiere Elements 9. (Though it's worth a try. Have you tried one of the DSLR presets that matches your video's resolution?)
The BEST solution is to convert the video to a 1440x1080 MPEG/M2T using Quicktime Pro ($29 from Apple). 1440x1080, as you probably know, is the anamorphic version of 1920x1080, so it is the same resolution.
A 1440x1080 MPEG/M2T video should work perfectly with Premiere Elements' HDV project preset.
Remember: The test to see if you're using the ideal preset is that, when you add the video to your timeline, it will appear without a red line above it.
If you are seeing no red lines above your video but your video editing is still slow, it is most likely an indicator that your computer is not powerful enough to edit hi-def video or that it is not properly tuned.
If you're interested, there are much more detailed explanations for all of this in my books, available on Amazon and at Muvipix.com.
