In your post you ask how to convert a string value to a date. The value returned from the Get-AdUser is already a date. It does not need to be converted.
Bill has sshown one way to convert a date to a string and there are other methods. You need to clarify your question.
If you are really trying ot convert strings to dates then you can start with this:
[datetime]'01/21/1965 13:33:23'
Most date strings aer autodetected by the class.

Error in converting character string to smalldatetime data type

I've installed SQL Server 2000 on my new laptop and Crystal Report XI, out of sudden, the Crystal Report to certain view can't run and I got the following error:
Details: 22007 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL SERVER]Syntax Error cnverting character string to smalldatetime data type.
Any suggestions?

What confused me is that it works fine with my previous laptop. I wonder if there is any patch in Crystal Report or SQL server that used to support certain functions but not support them anymore....

i need some information about converting string into date format.i have string like '20-SEP-05' .so we have to convert into date formate like yy-mm-dd' (2005-09-20).how can we do it.

Converting 3 Strings to 1 Date?

Hi first of i am very new at this sql. But my problem is that i am haveing 3 combo boxes in java. 1 with dd 1 with mm and 1 with yyyy. How do i convert these 3 strings into 1 date format? Writing the Gui in java.
It is to a booking system so i need it for a fromdate and then the same in a todate function. Hope u understand my problem.

Converting a string into mySQL date format

I have a bit of code that collects data values from a bean and I want it to then insert this into a mySQL database. My string is in the format "23/12/1983", how can i put this into a date field in my database? The bit of code I have got so far looks like this...

The key to inserting a date into a database is to convert the date string into an SQL friendly format. i.e. yyyy-MM-dd.
One way of doing this is as follows:
SimpleDateFormat NICE_DATE_FORMAT =
new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
SimpleDateFormat SQL_DATE_FORMAT =
new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd");
Date date = new Date();
try {
date = NICE_DATE_FORMAT.parse(dateString);
} catch (ParseException pe) {
pe.printStackTrace();
String sqlDate = SQL_DATE_FORMAT.format(date);
Now it is just a matter of creating the insert statement like normal, and making sure that the date string is in quotes.

How can I create a date object from that string?
I tried Date date = new Date(s);
But that looks like a deprecated method. What is the best way ?

Look at the parse() method of thge SimpleDateFormat class. In the javadoc, it says this;
parse
public Date parse(String text, ParsePosition pos)
Parses text from a string to produce a Date.
The method attempts to parse text starting at the index given by pos. If parsing succeeds, then the index of pos is updated to the index after the last character used (parsing does not necessarily use all characters up to the end of the string), and the parsed date is returned. The updated pos can be used to indicate the starting point for the next call to this method. If an error occurs, then the index of pos is not changed, the error index of pos is set to the index of the character where the error occurred, and null is returned.

I finally figured the reason. I have to put "java.sql.DatevalueOf( )" in the code. I guess there are 2 Date classes. One is in the Util.* and the other in sql.*...
The one in Util.* means something else...

Converting a java string to a date.

I am working on extending an EO and I have a situation where I must convert a string to a date before passing it to a method. The string is in the format "DD-MON-YYYY". I am using the following code and get an error "incompatible types: found: java.util.Date, required: oracle.jbo.domain.Date". Here is the code I am using:

Any ideas why the code I am using is not working? Is there another way to do this?

The difference is that
D Day in year
d Day in month
Hence when you used 22-Feb-2007 with "DD-MMM-yyyy", it took 22 as the 22nd day of the year and overrided the month value giving you 22nd January :)

How to convert a string

I have a string "March 2006", that I would like to convert into two dates, one is first date of the month and second is the last date of the month.
For example:
String strDate="March 2006"
Now I want to convert it into two dates:
03/01/2006 and 03/31/2006 and assign those two dates to two variables.
