Convert a string value to a variable

I have faced a problem while writting down the following Pl/SQL block...I want to select the field values dynamically from emp table....
DECLARE
V_COL VARCHAR2(20);
V_COL1 VARCHAR2(20);
TYPE T IS TABLE OF EMP.ENAME%TYPE;
T1 T;
CURSOR C IS
SELECT COLUMN_NAME
FROM ALL_TAB_COLUMNS
WHERE TABLE_NAME ='EMP';
BEGIN
OPEN C;
LOOP
     FETCH C INTO V_COL;
     EXIT WHEN C%NOTFOUND;
FOR NM IN (SELECT V_COL FROM EMP)
     LOOP
     DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(NM.V_COL);
     END LOOP;
END LOOP;
CLOSE C;
END;
But the above trigger gives the following output instead of giving the values of the respective fields:
EMPNO
EMPNO
EMPNO
EMPNO
EMPNO
ENAME
ENAME
ENAME
ENAME
ENAME
ENAME
ENAME
JOB
JOB

MGR

how can i overcome this???

I think he wants to display the contents of a table dynamically.

    In your post you ask how to convert a string value to a date.  The value returned from the Get-AdUser is already a date.  It does not need to be converted.
    Bill has sshown one way to convert a date to a string and there are other methods.  You need to clarify your question.
    If you are really trying ot convert strings to dates then you can start with this:
    [datetime]'01/21/1965 13:33:23'
    Most date strings aer autodetected by the class.

  • How do I know if I can convert a String value to an int value or not?

    I want to know how to make the judgment that if I can convert a String value to an int value or not? Assume that I don't know the String is number or letters

    Again, why?One of the problems (have been dued) in my codelab asks us to write a class as follow
    Write a class definition of a class named 'Value' with the following:
    a constructor accepting a single integer paramter
    a constructor with no parameters
    a method 'setVal' that accepts a single parameter,
    a boolean method, 'wasModified' that returns true if setVal was ever called for the object.
    a method 'getVal' that returns an integer value as follows: if setVal has ever been called, it getVal returns the last value passed to setVal. Otherwise if the "single int parameter" constructor was used to create the object, getVal returns the value passed to that constructor. Otherwise getVal returns 0.
    The setVal(int y) returns nothing, so how do I know whether it has been called or not?

  • How to convert a string to a currency value ? getting a dump with exception

    Hi,
    I am getting a exception not caught in CX_SY_CONVERSION_NO_NUMBER.
    I am trying to convert a string value with ',' to a currency value.
    I tried using Replace and Condense. But the error still persists.
    Is there a FM or a casting that I can use?
    Cheers

    Hi,
    Sorry I got my question wrong. I have a problem - that when I'm trying to pass a value from a string to a currency field.
    But, the currency field is a field symbol.
    so, I have
    data abc type string.
    abc = "5345"
    <curr_val> = abc.
    now <curr_val> = 0.000
    Please suggest.

  • Is there any native method for converting String value to Hungarian notat..

    Hello. there.
    This might be very simple question. but I'm just curious about this.
    I am wondering if Java API offer the any native method for converting uppercased string value to lowercase which obey the Hungarian notation.
    What I'm going to do is using Reflection for excuting RFC function on SAP. I was found it is very similar to JDBC Programming.
    Please refer to blow codes.
    //mTable
    JCoTable mTable = function.getTableParameterList().getTable(rtnTblNm);
        for (int i = 0; i < mTable.getNumRows(); i++) {
         mTable.setRow(i);
         HashMap tmpData = new HashMap ();
              for (int j=0; j < mTable.getNumColumns(); j++) {
                     // I want to set key String [userNo] instead of  [USER_NO] here.
              tmpData.put(mTable.getMetaData().getName(j).toLowerCase(), mTable.getString(j));
              result.add(tmpData);
    } Basically, The idea was from ibatis framework [com.ibatis.common.beans.classInfo] dropcase();
    Any idea would be very helpful for me. Thank you.

    So your title is very confusing to the people here who know what it means, which is probably all of them, because people read threads based on their title.From now on, I will pay more attention when I post an question.
    If the titile as " +Is there any native method for converting String value to camelcase?"+ would be easier to what i'm pointing at.
    As I mentioned in above sorce code, converting [USER_NO] to [userNo] isn't relevant Hungarian notation. yes, it was ambiguous. Agree! :)
    But some answer wasn't fit to converting case or recognizing "underscore" delimiter. I was expecting toCamelCase() such as blew. Thanks.

    actually it convert the string value into decimal value.In fact what it does is convert the (binary) string into an integer value. It's the String representation of integer quantities that have a base (two, ten, hex etc): the quantities themselves don't have a base.
    To take an integer quantity (in the form of an int) and convert it to a binary String, use the handy toString() method in the Integer class - like your other conversion, use the one that takes a radix argument.

  • Error While trying to Convert a Date Value to string in POI API (Excel)

    Hi
    How can I convet a date value in excel to string value ? I am using POI API for excel sheet reading in JSP .

    Hello Esther,
    the problem seems to be that the temp folder of the target Integration Builder system can't be found:
    'The system cannot find the path specified
    at [..] FileAccess.getTempDirectory([..])'.
    You'll experience the same problem if you try a file based import or export within the Integration Builder directly.
    I would recommend to continue the search there. You could check if the environment variables (for Windows: TEMP and TMP) of the OS of the system with the target Integration Builder to an existing path. Check also if the WebAs can access this path.
    Good luck

    something like this will convert string to byte[]
    e.g.
    you want to convert following.
    656667 => ABC
    String toConvert = "656667";
    byte[] returnVal = String2byteArr (toConvert );

  • I'm using TestStand/Labview to do a string value test. Is there any way to use a variable in the edit string value test?? This forces you to hard code a string to test against.

    I'm using TestStand 2.0/Labview 6i to do a string value test. Is there any way to use a string variable in the edit string value test instead of an actual string?? This forces you to hard code a string to test against.

    Hi ART,
    You can also use the LimitLoader step to load your string into to step similar to the Numeric Step type.
    There should be an example of this in the Resource Library | TestStand

                                                           numberofquestions = rs.getInt("mynumber");
                                                           rs=pgresult("SELECT answer FROM answers WHERE qgroup="+qgroup);
                                                           allanswers = new String[numberofquestions];
