Convert Flex project to Creative Suite Extension Project

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to convert an existing flex project written in as3 to a Flash Pro Creative Suite Extension Project so we can debug it?
Its a large and complex project and we would rather not start it from scartch

  • Adobe Creative Suite Extension builder 2 not supported in Flash Builder 4.7 64 bit

Couldn't find anywhere to submit a bug report so hopefully this is a good place.
I was able to succesfully download and install the Adobe Creative Suite Extension builder 2 into Flash Builder 4.7 with not problems.
When I click File -> New -> Creative Suite Exention Project nothing happends. I recieve no error messages just the Project wizard panel that is expected to open doesn't open.
The extension works as expected when installed into the non-beta Flash Builder 4.6 32 bit verison.
I suspect there may be an incompatibility when switching to the 64 bit version of Flash Builder.

    Hi everyone,
The problem is that Flash Builder 4.7 is not compatible with Extension Builder 2. Therefore we have provided Flash Builder 4.6 available for download, see links below.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you run into further problems.

  • How to localize Creative Suite Extensions

    Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that I've posted a new cookbook where I explain how to localise a Creative Suite extension. You can find it under http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Localizing_a_Creative_Suite_5_extension-17410.html.
I've also posted a sample to go with it that you can download from Extension Builder by selecting:
File > Import > Other > Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder > Remote Creative Suite SDK Samples > Localised
Note that you will need the latest version of Extension Builder 1.0.1 for the sample to compile properly.
    Thanks,
    Maria

    artificial "suites"
I don't agree with that; some of these applications are very tightly integrated with a seamless cross-app workflow.
Anyway: In itself, there's no particular reason to have the apps "synchronized". Requirements are different in the various apps, and my color settings are deliberately unsynchronized. But until you understand more about what the different color settings do, it's a simple safeguard against surprises.
In Photoshop, working on RGB (or CMYK) raster image material, the all-important thing is to have color management policies set to "preserve embedded profiles". Any other setting is trouble waiting to happen. You may also want to work in a large space like ProPhoto to have maximum editing headroom.
But as soon as you get into CMYK and/or vector territory with ID and Ai, you don't want that because it can lead to a number of other problems on press. For CMYK you'll want to ignore profiles and preserve numbers, then reassign the correct profile for output. Using ProPhoto for RGB vector is also totally pointless. Just mentioning this to put this into context.
If you do want to synchronize, you do it in Bridge as station two said. But all it means is having the same settings in each app's color settings, and you can do that manually as well.

  • Dynamic localization in Creative Suite Extension

    Hi All,
We have a requirement for dynamic localization in a Creative Suite Extension so i would like to ask you all what is the preferred way to achieve this.
I am basically a plugin developer using C++ sdk so i am a novice to this art of Creative Suite Extensions. Any pointer's to the right direction would be very helpful.
    Thanking you in all earnest.

  • Drag and Drop in a Creative Suite Extension

    Hi,
One of the reports we've had about using the Creative Suite SDK is that native drag and drop doesn't work when dragging from an extension to the host application (for example, dragging an image from an extension to be placed in InDesign).
This is something we're very keen to make as easy as possible, to which end I've posted a write-up on the CS SDK blog of how you can achieve this. It works by using the Flash (rather than Flex) manager for dragging, and you can find more detail and a sample extension here.
    Happy coding!
    James

James, thanks for the great article!
After implementing all your techniques I have a couple of questions, and it will be cool, if you can find a time to answer just some of them!
    1) Is there a way to force a drop? I mean, without mouse, just like copy and paste an object into current host, without dragging it?
    2) Is there a universal way for all hosts to catch a moment just before the drop happened? (Harbs suggested to use a before_place event, but as I can see it only works for InDesign).
    3) When I dragged an image of BITMAP_FORMAT type, I even was able to drop it to Fireworks - but not into Flash Pro document. Flash just crashes! Is this is a known issue and maybe some workaround exists?
    Thank you!

  • Unable to buy Creative Suite Extension Builder

On the site http://www.adobe.com/ch_de/products/cs-extension-builder.html I click on 'buy'.
A pop up appears where I have to chose a Plan and Amout. And whatever I choose there, the button to add the product is always grayed out.
This happens on windows 7 with chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer. (And with opera you don't even get the popup but 'broken link').
The same if you are logged out or logged in.
I'm trying to buy the software since a month and trial will run out somewhen.

For the love of....did you bother to even look one or two posts above or below this one?
The same argument you use are just as invalid as they are in the other thread.

  • Debugging ID CS6 with Creative Suite Extension Builder 1.5

    Hi,
I am using extension builder 1.5 SDK with Flash builder 4.5 on Mac. I have been trying to debug my extension with ID CS6 but I don't see any option to do so. It has only option for CS5 and CS5.5 to debug.
I came across a thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/4780509 which says that all I need to do is to add PlayerDebugMode key and set it's value to 1 in "~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.CSXS3.plist" (Instead, I have ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.CSXS.3.plist).
This didn't work for me. What else can I do?
    Thanks

  • What is the correct way to update Creative Suite extension?

I cannot find any information on how to auto-update a CS extension when a new version of the extension is available. Is there any recommended way to do it?
Should I use the standard AIR update mechanism (flash.desktop.Updater), or are there some CS SDK-specific classes for auto-updating extensions?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Anatoly,
in the "Packaging Extensions with ADOBE® EXTENSION MANAGER CS5" pdf there are the info you need - basically (afaik), you have to create a MXI file to re-pack your extension: in the MXI you put in a tag a link that points to an xml file you'll have online (which contains update info) and Extension Manager will automatically download and install the new extension, based on the xml data (version number, actual download link.
    Hope this helps,

  • Updating Creative Suite Extensions

Hi, I'm building an InDesign extension via Adobe Extension Builder.
The extension should be able to check for updates and, if available, download ZXP file and openWithDefaultApplication. Everything works fine up to the moment of installation itself. The Adobe Extension Manager CS5 tells me that there is a conflict and I need to uninstall previous version of the extension first.
    The exact message:
This extension cannot be installed, since it conflicts with an existing one. To install this extension, please remove the extension 'ExtensionName' which has been installed in 'InDesign CS5', then install again.
The only differences beteween the two are:
    ./csxs/manifest.xml
    <Extension Id="ExtensionID" Version="0.5.0"/>
    <Extension Id="ExtensionID" Version="0.5.1"/>
    ./extensionApp.xml
    <version>0.5.0</version>
    <version>0.5.1</version>
And of course, the SWF files are different
Did I forget something or is it impossible to create self-updating CS5 extensions? Of course, I tried googling first but found absolutely nothing on the matter.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hello Peter,
me too I'm not a big AEM fan, I've slowly been accustomed to it
I see no way to bypass the AEM alert, though - it has its own logic, perhaps: you make the program to install a newer version of an already installed extension, so it alerts a conflict. Yes, I agree, it should be a little bit smarter (it's ok to automatically remove version 1 if you're about to install version 1.1 of the very same panel) maybe it doesn't recognize the process as an update.
As a side note, it doesn't prompt anything strange when you update an extension via AEM, it works as expected.
    Cheers,
    Davide

  • Can't get Creative Suite Builder SDK to show up

I downloaded the Creative Suite SDK unzipped it.  I am using Flash Builder 4 on Windows but I tried on Mac too.  From the Preferences Install/Update section I clicked Add Site and pointed to the folder "CreativeSuiteSDK" that was in the contents of the .zip file and named my site "CS SDK".  It doesn't complain but I do not get CS Extension Builder to show up in Window > Perspective > Other even after restarting Flash Builder 4. If I go back into Preferences Install/Update section and click the "Test Connection" button on the "CS SDK" site I get the following error:
    "No repository found at file:/C:/Program%20Files/Adobe/CreativeSuiteSDK-1.0.0/CreativeSuiteSDK/."
    Help!
    -Scott

After seeing Ian Paterson's presentation about developing with LCDS and Extension Builder in CS products I was excited to start learning since I have a lot of experience with LCDS, Flex, and ColdFusion as a back end server.   I Googled how to get started.  I landed on this page:
    http://cssdk.host.adobe.com/sdk/1.0/docs/WebHelp/getting_started/developing.htm
It describes how to install the EB plugin but frequently refers to the CS SDK.  It provides no download links to either, so I Googled for the download.  I landed on this page to download the SDK.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/sdk/eula_cs5.html
After attempting to follow the instructions in the SDK Developing guide in the first link using the bits downloaded from the second link, I ran into this "No Repository" issue which frustrated me for a while:
    http://twitpic.com/2fxfbi
After more researching, I landed on the page that I probably should have started with:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/sdk/
There, it lists the CS SDK side by side with the EB.  The EB appears to not be publicly available, but rather only to Adobe Partners and/or those in the "Enterprise Developer" program.  Fortunately, I can log in as a Partner, but only to be greeted with a main welcome page, and I have no idea how to find or download EB from the Partner portal.
The point of my post here is to say that I think Adobe can do a much better job describing the differences between CS SDK and EB in all the related documentation, guides, and readme's, and where to get the download.  To those just learning the topic this seems to be an initial obstacle.  Many (all?) of the guides do not provide a clear download location for where to get either.   They refer to the download, but don't help you find it, at all, e.g. "To install the Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder,   download the ZIP file and unzip it into a root location"
I own Adobe Creative Suite CS 5 Master Collection.  I own Flex Builder 4 (ships with CS5 MC).  I own ColdFusion Builder.  Why don't I have clear and immediate access to obtaining the Adobe CS Extension Builder?
Does Adobe want developers to build cool, enterprise level, distributed applications for Creative Suite or not?  Make it easier.
    Thank you.
    [Edit]
It only seems fitting that this post end with a sheesh.
    Sheesh!!

  • Can't convert Flex Mobile project to desktop project

I'm using the Flash Builder 4.6 trial, and I'm very new to flex development. I've been asked to convert an existing Flex Mobile project (appears to have been developed in Flash Builder 4.5) into an AIR desktop app.
The project imported without complaint. However, the Add/Change Project Type > Convert to Flex Desktop Project menu item is disabled.
I created a blank Flex Mobile project, then a blank Flex web project, then a blank ActionScript project. It's greyed out for those, too. I checked with the projects closed and open; the rest of the items on that submenu are enabled for all projects when closed.
Is this feature disabled in the trial version?  Is something else going on?

Clearly the device from verizon works, I would try to contact a computer tech to repair your computer
Really it should be as simple as turn on, connect, go. If it isn't there is a break down somewhere in that computer
    What error msg?

  • [Completely Hypothetical: University Project] How much for creative suite for a team of 15 (24mths+)

I am doing a University Project, and I cannot find how much it would cost for a team of 15 to all use the Adobe Creative Suite, or any other combination of the major graphic design tools, all at once.
I could not find any 'deals', or specials on the Adobe website for teams of 15, or whether they offered cheaper prices.
    Any help would be amazing,
    Thanks.

Currently you can get an Individual subscription for $19.99 a month ($299.85 a month for 15 Individual subscriptions). Details here https://creative.adobe.com/plans. The price does require an annual subscription.
If all 15 of you do not need to use the software at the same time you could get an educational Team subscription and rotate less than 15 Seats as needed.
