Convert inch fraction to decimal value

I get a lot of printer requirements tin Fractions (12 11/16 Inches, 2 1/8 inches, etc.) Is there a way in illustrator to convert those to decimal values?

In illustrator, most dialog boxes can do math, so do the fraction first. 5/8  which would be .625 then enter the whole number 12 in front of the decimal 12.625
That's assuming the dialog box can not handle the whole number and the fraction at the same time.

  • How could I choose some bytes from HEX string and then convert it to a decimal value?

    If the response always has the temperature starting with byte 15 and is always 8 bytes in length, you can use the String Subset function to get those bytes out of the string.  Then use Hex String to Number to convert to a decimal number.
    Well someone already beat me to the solution:

  • How to convert a number to FLOAT with 9 decimal values.

    Hi all,
    I need to convert a number like '10.02' to a floating point number with 9 decimal values like '10.022111221'. I think that the right function is TO_BINARY_FLOAT, but how can I obtain 9 decimal values? If I use the following syntax:
    select TO_BINARY_FLOAT(num) from table
    I obtain a floating point values with a variable number of decimal numbers after the ".", instead I need 9 number after ".".
    Regards,
    Maurizio.

    Hi,
    the number I need to select is the result of a product, for example:
    select (Num_A * Num_B) from Table;
    Num_A has 2 decimal numbers, like 12.01 and Num_B could be: 12.111111111.
    Now, Num_A * Num_B = 653.999999994
    but I issue:
    select TO_BINARY_FLOAT(54.00 * 12.111111111) from Table
    I obtain:
    654, a rounded value, but I need 653.999999994.

  • Convert non-ASCII character to decimal value

    Hi all,
    I have the following problem:
    When reading a String containing the full spectrum of UTF-8 characters from a BufferedReader:
    How can I get the decimal value of the String's characters outside the ASCII range?
    When I try to do a MyBufferedReader.read(), I get the int value 65533 for these characters, instead of their real value in the UTF-8 set.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Dre

    That's the character you get when you try to decode a character with no valid decoding. Of course there aren't any such characters for UTF-8. Therefore whatever you did, don't do that. More specifically: you've already got a String, don't do anything which involves converting it to bytes. That's completely unnecessary.
    Or perhaps the problem is the way you create the String in the first place. Who knows?

  • Convert Voltage values to Decimal values.

    I need to convert voltage values/range to decimal values/range.
    Example: I read voltage (range 0 to 1.0volts) form DAC and covert it corresponding decimal value (decimal value range is 0 to 16000).
    0 decimal = 0 volts
    16000 decimal = 1.0volts.
    Thanks for the help.

    I'm not sure how you'd get a value of 16000 out of the 2620 as that is only a 12-bit DAC that will produce values from 0 to 4095. Here's the transfer function directly copied from page 12 of Linear's datasheet.

  • Decimal value automatically converting into int

    Hi,

    In C#, below is the code I have written to retreive the value.
    command.Parameters.Add("@ProcessCompliance", SqlDbType.Decimal).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
     ProcessComplaincecount = command.Parameters["@ProcessCompliance"].Value.ToString());
    But value is getting converted as 93 as a int. I want it as 92.57

  • How do I convert an alpha character from a text string to its decimal value

    I am trying to find out the actual decimal value of a character in a string. So far the code below is as far as I got. I am able to get what I guess is a byte value.
    This is for a school assignment:
    The idea behind what I am trying to do is to design a hash function to store dictionary words into a bucket array hash table, without using the existing Hashtable.class
    so far this is what I can come up with to get some kind of value for each character in the string, however, what I am trying to get is the decimal value for each character.
    public static void main(String args[]){
         String word = "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz";
         for (int i=0 ; i < word.length(); i++){
         System.out.print((word.substring(i,i+1)));
         System.out.print("\t : "+((word.substring(i,i+1))).getBytes());
    Thankyou for any replies.

    I'm not sure I completly understand your goal- what you mean by "decimal value", but, if you simply want to find the byte value of each character in a String, you would probably be better off using getBytes() in a way like this,
    byte [] bytes = string.getBytes();
    Then, if you need to map that to a charcter, you could use a for loop like
    for (int x = 0; x < bytes.length; x++) {
    table.put((char)bytes[x], bytes[x]);
    which assummes this bucket class of yours allows primitive data types like so (in Hashtable or HashMap, you would have to use a wrapper Object). I guess, my point reduces to, don't use substring and string search methods (like indexOf()), unless you have to because they are more expensive then just maping the array of bytes and chars, which seems to be what you are interested in doing.

  • CONVERTING DATA TO 2 DECIMAL PLACES

    All,
    I needed to convert a BSO database to only have 2 decimal places. I did this by exporting the data and restricting the export calc to 2 decimal places.
    HOWEVER - there still appears to be rollups that have more than 2 decimal places.
    * Is there an easier way to convert data to 2 decimal places?
    * Is there a "bug" were essbase produces more than 2 decimal places even when all 0 level members have none?
    Thanks

    Old posts never die until they're beaten into the ground...
    On the off chance that someone, anyone still cares, Glenn was absolutely correct when he stated that Essbase stores data as floating point values.
    And when that happens, only values that are divisible by two or 10 are stored without some kind of fractional value.
    See the DBAG: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/dcaintro.html
    Most computers represent numbers in binary, and therefore can only approximately represent real numbers. Because binary computers cannot hold an infinite number of bits after a decimal point, numeric fractions such as one-third (0.3333...) cannot be expressed as a decimal with a terminating point. Fractions with a denominator of the power of two (for example, 0.50) or ten (0.10) are the only real numbers that can be represented exactly. See IEEE Standard 754 for Floating-Point Representation (IEEE, 1985).There is nothing you can do other than handle the round/truncate in the reporting layer.
    You can always take it up with IEEE. :) As we used to say in school when taunting Electrical Engineers, "You can't spell 'geek' without --Cameron-- 'ee'." :) Or hope for an analog computer.

  • Convert a String to Decimal Format in European format

    Hi Experts,
    I am having a string as a context type for a input field, where the user can enter the Price, I need to convert the same into European format "###.###,00", I am using this below code to convert the string to decimal format
    User will enter the input as 10 as it needs to be converted into 10,00. Also, 1000 which has to be converted as 1.000,00
    String Str1 = wdContext.currentvn_temptable.getVa_TempUnitPrice();
    Locale mylocale  = Locale.GERMAN;
    String pattern="###.###,00";
    NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getNumberInstance(mylocale);
    DecimalFormat df = (DecimalFormat)nf;
    df.applyPattern(pattern);
    String output = df.format(Str1);
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Unit Price" + " " + pattern + " " + output);
    When I execute the above code, i am getting an error called "Malformed Pattern ###.###,00"
    Please let me know, how to convert a String to Quantity in European format
    Thanks & Regards,
    Palani

    Hello!
    Try to change your pattern to this one
    Locale mylocale  = Locale.GERMAN;
    String pattern = "#,#00.00";
    NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getNumberInstance(mylocale);
    DecimalFormat df = (DecimalFormat)nf;
    df.applyPattern(pattern);
    String output = df.format(1111111.222);
    Pattern has an influence on number of digits between separators, but you have to use ',' for grouping and '.' for decimal. Character values for separators correspond to your Locale object.
    Thanks, Mikhail

  • Convert hexadecimal output to decimal (number)

    I am reading hexadecimal format from the output of the VISA read block and I want to convert it to the decimal preferably exponential format.
    Example of what I read is 76 00 02 (in dec: 7.600 E+2).
    I know there is "type cast" block that converts nicelly but I am not sure what to specify for a type input.
    Can you show me how to apply this type cast block for in my VI so that it converts hex string (76 00 02) into exponential string/number (7.600 E+2)?
    I attached my VI so it is more clear.

    Looking at your code I see that you have not a hexadecimal string coming
    back but instead a binary string. The fact that you display the string
    as hexadecimal in the string indicator is just showing you the ASCII
    codes of the string characters as hexadecimal numbers.
    The funct
    ion From Hexadecimal String expects a clear text string with
    hexadecimal characters but that is something entirely different from a
    binary string you choose to display as hexadecimal numbers.
    An example: the binary string 7600 02 you receive from the device is in
    fact the character 'v', a null character and a 02 character (or in ASCII
    terms a start of text character).
    So assuming your example is right (which I have to admit seems very
    strange and therefore suspicious to me) you would have to do something
    more like included example. But as I said I have little understanding
    why the hexadecimal interpretation of the binary values should
    correspond to the decimal value you want to have!
    Also as you can see there is not really clear where the 00 character
    belongs to. The two methods where it is either part of the multiplier or
    the exponent both produce the same result for this particular example.
    Which one is right if any, should be tested.
