A carousel slideshow application.

I apologise if this is the wrong forum but I can't se a more appropriate one.
Does anyone know of a stand alone program which displays photographs in a carousel format using the full screen, no menu bar etc? There is software (Carousel Slideshow II) which can be included in a web page, and PhotoPresenter has a carousel feature with limited picture size and mirror effect, but I hace not been able to find a program with a carousel feature using screen full height or width. Any suggestions?

Hi,
My wife (Yes! she is another Hyperion-er too) has built such application like 2 years ago. Ever since we are tracking our expenditure budget/actuals in this. She has got some what-if scenarios/versions for investment puposes where she calculates and compares various payment terms. There is one custom dimension in the application which stands for the country we worked and lived in as this is our second country since the application has been built-up.
It's a tiny application with a little PL and CF structure. All classifications are handled in accounts and supporting detail is heavily used. I don't think it would serve you well even if I send you that as the used language is Turkish. However, I'd be happy to help and give real life examples if you are interested.
Cheers,
Alp

Hi Mario, the breadcrumbs makes three:
    Home › Slide 1
    Slide 1
    Slide 1
I don't mind having the breadcrumbs but I don't want TWO titles.
This is a default feature (bug?) of the Adora template. I have created a test 'untouched' copy of the Adora template here:
    http://adoraspare.businesscatalyst.com/
Click on any of the slides and you'll see what I mean. I can't find a spare title tag anywhere.

  • Audio in slideshow application

I can only add one song to the audio portion of the slideshow application in lightroom 5.  I tried adding a playlist from itunes and only the first song of the playlist was added.  How do I get multiple songs in the audio portion of the slideshow module???

You are welcome. It seems that the slideshow module has been treated sort of as an afterthought since it was first introduced. There needs to be a lot of things added, including multiple music tracks. But the slideshow module just seems to be there and finished as far as Adobe is concerned.

  • Custom Slideshow Application Possible?

Hey, new developer here, looking to make things using Xcode. Have a question I'd like awnsered if possible.
I was looking for a slideshow app with some specific functions and couldn't find it. So I decided I might as well program one myself.
I am just wondering if the application I am about to describe is possible to make and if so what the best way is to go about it (tips?).
I often have to showcase slideshow at meetings, but they are quite in the background. So they go on for a while, basicly on loop until the meeting is done. I have no problem with it, only that the randomizing of the slideshow is not what I want exactly. So now I'm going to list the specifications I would need from a slideshow program, I currently am using Phoenix Slides.
-Needs to be able to load a lot of pictures rather quickly (phoenix slides is a good example).
-Has to be able to randomize the slides in the slideshow and the time between the slides must be able to be adjusted. Would like a transition effect if possible.
-Loop functionality, able to scale up images and a background color for the slideshow.
    -Fullscreen fuctionality!
-File viewer so I can select the directory where the images are that I want to use in the slideshow.
Now here's the part that puts this slideshow app apart from others. The best way to explain what I need is through an example. I basicly need to be able to show pictures of products and slides with information about the products. This is all fine, except that the randomize function of a slideshow isn't exactly what I want. I often have the problem that the interval between the pictures and informational slides is not very good. Sometimes it takes forever to get to a information slide, or sometimes I have 3 after each other.
So here's what I need, as an example. I would want 14 slides of pictures and every 15th slide should be an information slide. Each group, group 1 being pictures and group 2 information, still randomizes. So every 14 slides are still randomized, and the 15th slides is also randomized. But this way there is a set interval at which information is shown and it isn't repeated right after each other. I'd also like to set the interval between group 1 and group 2.
There are other functionalities I could use, but this is the main function I need and would make my life a bit easier if I could make an application like this. I just want to know if it is possible to make this, and what's the best way to go about it.
    Much thanks!

it's not necessary to have the artboard shaped like anything but a rectangle--to make a card like you desire will require having a cutting die made--the cards will be printed and then diecut--build your artboard -- let's say 4.5" wide x 3" high--make a new color called dieline--set it as a spot color--make it 2'x3.5" (standard business card) use the rectangle tool to create a 1/2 point rectangle with the stroke set to 'dieline' and fill set to 'none' (put it in it's own layer-topmost layer) then put your art inside of that area on another layer--then alter the rectangle shape by adding anchor points with the pen tool and moving them to make the shape you desire.
note: this will be expensive because of the cost of making a die and paying for the diecutting.

  • Slideshows in Windows Vista like in iPhoto?

I've been creating slideshows in iPhoto for about 5 years +, so I've used different versions. My question is this ~ I have a family member whose asked me to help them learn to make slideshows with transitions, music, text, etc. The catch is she has a Window's system, running Vista.
Is anyone familiar with doing some similiar work in Vista and which programs I might start with?
    Thanks.

    Maina':
Go to VersionTracker.com, click on the Windows tab at the top and do a search for "slideshow". That will bring up a number of slideshow applications that run on the darkside that she might use. Or, convince her to get a Mac.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Slideshow Madness

I’m having such troubles exporting slideshows that I may go insane. I want to be able to do two things:
    1. Export a slideshow to a file that I can burn on a CD or DVD and give to people to play on both Macs and PC’s. I would like this slideshow to have music; having motion (Ken Burns) is a plus but not a necessity. I would like the slideshow to play full screen, or close to full screen, on the receipients monitor and the photos to be very high quality. My photos are from a Canon 5D and are sharp.
    2. Be able to burn a slideshow of movies to a DVD for playing on a television and have the pictures retain their hi quality and sharpness.
I have tried the following applications to accomplish these tasks.
Adobe Lightroom. Only seems to export a PDF file that does not contain music.
Imovie HD 6/IDVD 6. I can set up the slideshows for DVD burning and playing on a television, but the quality on the TV (50 inch plasma) is really poor.
Iphoto. I can export to QuickTime and get high quality photos and music. However, there doesn’t seem to be a way to control transitions or get motion without first creating a slideshow in Iphoto. If I create a slideshow in Iphoto with transitions and motion I only seem to be able to export the slideshow to a small QT file. This misses my goal of enabling the recipients to view it in full screen, or near full screan.
Aperture. I can make a very nice slideshow in Aperture, but don’t see how to export it.
Toast 8 with Motion Picture HD. I can make nice slide shows with Motion Picture HD, but can’t seem to find a way to export it into a QT file that is high quality and will play full screen. Also when I send the slideshow to idvd it ends up looking crummy on the TV.
Photo to Movie. This is a terrific program and I can make great slideshows with music, transitions, and interesting motion. However, again I can not seem to find a way to get the slideshow into QT for sharing at the same quality level I’m watching it on my monitor. Same problem with going to iDvd for the TV.
Can anyone help? Are there some simple settings in QT (I have the pro version) that will help me? Should I be exporting to something other than QT? Is there a tuturial somewhere I can follow that will help me accomplish my two goals?
I switched to a Mac about a year ago because I wanted an easy way to edit and share photos and video. I’m afraid I may end up in a loony-bin instead.

    Ken:
One of the best 3rd party slideshow applications I've run across isPhotoPresenter. It has the best selection of themes I've seen. It can be run in demo mode.
IMO, the best image quality is the final produce, i.e. when played on a TV set, is by creating the slideshow in iDVD from stills imported via the Media/Photos pane. You can also add titles and sub titles to selected slides in iDVD.
    Do you Twango?
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto slideshow to iDVD gives poor movie quality

    Hello,
I would like to take an iPhoto 08 slideshow and turn it into a DVD disc.
iPhoto's feature: "Share > Send to iDVD" is really great, except that it converts my slideshow to a compressed QuickTime .mov file.
I really, really do not like what the QuickTime compression is doing to my image quality.
I seem to recall that iPhoto was once able to export as an uncompressed .DV file. But I can no longer find that feature or workaround.
Does anyone know of a way to turn an iPhoto slideshow into a .DV file? Or, at least some kind of video file that iDVD will recognize and which does not use compression (like AVI or something?).
    Thanks in advance!

Another 3rd party slideshow application with many export options is PhotoPresenter. It has Full Quality option for exporting which is 768 x 576. It also has over 25 animated themes. This demo page has examples of some of them.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How do you make a slideshow with pictures & videos?

ok, i'm new to mac & video editing. i want to make a slideshow with pictures & @ the end of it, i want to put in a clip from a home video. if i put the home video on a DVD, will i be able to edit it? i know i have to edit the video in imovie but where do i go from there? can i import it into iphoto & make the slideshow there? if so, how do i save the imovie project as the right file type so i can import it into iphoto? if i can't make it in iphoto, what program do i use? i want the slideshow to be able to be viewed on a PC also.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As already mentioned you'll need to use a 3rd party slideshow application or iMovie.
However, you can create a slideshow in iDVD with stills and a video clip as iDVD 7 (08) now permits both stills and movie clips to be placed in a slideshow. This screenshot shows multiple video clips in an iDVD slideshow but you can also have stills and video clips.

  • Movie in slideshow

Hi. I have recently imported pictures and some small clips I made during my vacation. What I would like to do is just to go through all my pict and movie clips in full screen (either in full screen mode or using front row). However, all the movie clips are skipped, I just see the pictures. Is there any way to see anything I imported in iphoto
    Thanks for answering

Unfortunately iPhoto does not play stills and movie clips in a slideshow. iPhoto uses Quicktime Player to play the movie files and that's outside of iPhoto.
There is a 3rd party slideshow application, PhotoPresenter, that will play stills and movie clips together. It has over 20 themes. These are but two: Reflection - Apple TV Intro.
You can run it in the demo mode to see if it will suit your needs before purchasing.
You can create a slideshow in iDVD with both still photos and movie clips.

  • IPhoto slideshow background color

Is there a way to change the background color in a Slideshow on iPhoto? It is currently black, and I would much rather have white.
    Thank you!

No. But you can if you use some of the 3rd party slideshow applications. One, PhotoPresenter, can change it as well as offering over 25 animated themes. At $8 it's a bargain.

  • Slideshow background color, way ugly

    Hello,
Way back, when Lightroom still was a beta product I downloaded a copy and
played with it for a while. Then I decided to use it, so I bought a copy of
ver 1.0, went through all updates and now as everybody else I am on 1.41.
My problem is that one of my early experiments with beta still haunts me.
Playing with the Slideshow I created a background, a way ugly background.
And now, years and thousands of photographs later I can not get rid of it.
No matter what I do, if I open LR, select some pictures and hit instant
slideshow my background is still with me.
Yes, I can go the Slideshow panel, unclick the background and everything is
fine. But I have no idea how to save a new setting as a new default.
Maybe I just don't know where to look, but I think I exhausted all the menu
    items and mouse clicks.

No. But you can if you use some of the 3rd party slideshow applications. One, PhotoPresenter, can change it as well as offering over 25 animated themes. At $8 it's a bargain.

  • Why Does Apple TV3 Slideshow Display iPhotos in Incorrect Order?

I have an Apple TV3 connected to my Mac running OS X 10.9.3.  The Apple TV3 is connected wirelessly to the Mac.  I have several questions:
Why can I not show Slideshows I have created in iPhoto on my Mac on the Apple TV3?  I can only show iPhoto Albums from the Mac on the Apple TV.  I have spent considerable time preparing a large number of iPhoto Slideshows and am frustrated and disappointed that they cannot be shown on my TV.  Apple did not mention this lack of capability in their advertising, saying that slideshows can be shown seamlessly from the Mac to the TV.  Is there any way to show iPhoto Slideshows on the Apple TV3??
When I use the 'slideshow' application on the Apple TV3 to view the photos in iPhoto Albums, pictures will randomly show up out of order.  I cannot tell if there is a structure to the appearance.  Sometimes a photo from day 4 of a trip will randomly show up on day 1, while later a photo from day 2 will show up again on day 6.  Again, this is very frustrating when showing photos to family and friends, the prime reason why I bought the Apple TV3.  Why is this random display occurring?  How do I stop it?
I have videos from my cameras inserted into the Slideshows and Albums in iPhoto, which run as intended on my Mac without any problems.  However the videos will not show up on the 'slideshow' in Apple TV3.  Again, why not, and is there a way to show them on the TV?
I am a computer layperson, so I would greatly appreciate a response in simple English, without the jargon, if possible.  I quite often have difficulty in understanding the responses in the threads for other topics.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Actually, this is incorrect. You must have a direct reference to the component instance to access the clientId. Filling in a String value that matches the for="..." attribute in h:message does not work. Furthermore, since UIComponent.getClientId requires a FacesContext instance argument, you end up with something like this:
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(
     this.getComponent().getClientId(
      FacesContext.getCurrentInstance()
new FacesMessage( "This is not I18N!")
    V/s this:
    this.getComponent().addMessage( "i18nKey");
I do agree that JSF needs some input to get better. Hence this post.

  • Removing Finder's SlideShow's 100 image limit - possible?

    Hi all,
I noticed OS X Finder's Slideshow application (context menu) is limited to 100 images. Is that something that can be removed through a config file anywhere? I once found the config file to change the time delay during the show but now can't remember where I did that! any advise?
    cheers,
    Roger

Hi BD. Not iPhoto—never use it—nor ScreenSaver. Here's a Cut and Paste from Help:
In the Finder, select image files in a folder or on your Desktop. Then hold down the Control click as you click one, and choose Slideshow from the shortcut menu that appears.
Use the controls at the bottom of the screen to switch between the images:
To stop and start Slideshow's automatic playback, click Stop or Start.
To move forward and back manually, use the arrow keys.
To view all the images at once, click Index Sheet. Click an image to view it.
To zoom in to and out of an image, click Fit to Screen or Actual Size.
To add an image to your iPhoto library, click Add to iPhoto.
To exit the slideshow, click Close.
As I said, the only controls that show for me are the Zoom, Add to iPhoto, and Quit. None of the other controls appear, and the arrow keys do nothing.
I ran maintenance a few days ago, and will do so again, as soon as I'm finished the job I've started.

  • Music Runs Long in Slideshow

I created a slideshow and selected a piece of music for the background. I clicked on the "Fit Slideshow To Music" option and the first couple of versions I exported worked perfectly, the music was synced to the slides. I subsequently added a few photos and changed the order of some photos, but now the slide show ends and I've got 30 seconds of a blank background while the song finishes. How can I fix this without starting all over from scratch?

1 - Open your music-less movie file in Quicktime Pro.
2 - open a copy of the music track you want to add in QT Pro.
3 - click on the movie file window, type Command+A (select all) and then Command+C (copy).
4 - click on the audio file's window and use the Edit->Add to Selection and scale option.
5 - save the resulting file.
This adds the movie to the audio file and scales the movie to fit the length of the audio file. If you do it the other way around the music might either play too fast or slow.
If you're looking for a 3rd party slideshow application that has some very nifty themes and integrates with iPhoto take a look at PhotoPresenter. It has over 25 animated themes as well as the classic theme. This demo page has examples of seven of them: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes.
