Convert month to numbers

Hi,
I want to convert month to numbers and I don t want to write a long if-else for it!
It has to be a smarter way to solve this.
Does anybody know how to do that?
I already get the month from a site and if it�s Oct, then I want to show it as a 10. I have searched in Date classes but it didn t help.

How can I convert an old Numbers file to be compatible with the new Numbers version, without having access to the old?

I received a Numbers file created in iWorks version 8 or earlier, but only have the newest version of Numbers on my MacBook Air. I can't request the sender to reformat the file. Is there any way to convert the file so I can open it in the new Numbers version?

Are you sure you don't still have Numbers from iWork '09 on your MacBook Air. My Mid 2012 does. To be certain you can look in the Applications folder to see if there is an iWork 09 folder. You can also use Spotlight search to see if it will find that Numbers as well as the current one.

I am currently using Pages and Numbers for Ipad. As I am currently working on these two programs and with their equivalent for PC (Word and Excel) for my research project, I would like to know how I can convert respectively the page and number format to word and xls, to use my documents both on my Ipad and my PC.
- Is there a convert option in pages or numbers for IPad?
- otherwise, is there suc an option in iwork.cim ?
- if nothing of such kind exists on pages and numbers for Ipad and in iwork.com, is there any software which could do the conversion ?

Within Pages, you can export to MS Word, Pages, and PDF, but Numbers only exports to Numbers or PDF...
Pages and Numbers on your Mac can convert the files to Word and Excel...

Convert addresses in numbers to labels in pages

How do I convert addresses listed in Numbers columns into a Pages label template?

Both Numbers and Pages must be the '09 version in order to do Mail Merge. And, you must be referencing a Numbers '09 document from a Pages '09 document.
If you don't see a Mail Merge option in Pages, you aren't using the '09 version. It's easy to confuse the two.

but if the month is of 31 days or 28 days (feb) how will the system will able to generate the report accordingly.
i want to make a report in which it should show the net sales by the current month and current date.
so the system should automated by the number of days in a month.

How do I create a formula to convert words to numbers?

Hi,
Basically my spreadsheet is almost entirely words and as numbers (or excel for that matter) work with words (although this I have suggested as an improvement), I need to convert all the words to numerics.
For example. I have a question with a drop down asking for male or female (I've done drop down lists as I want to cross analyse the results at a later date). I need to create a formula so that numbers automatically counts up all the males and females and puts them in another overall table. I guess I do this by creating a formula for numbers to turn all 'males' into 1 and all 'females' into 2, then ask numbers to count up all the 1's and 2's and put them in a table?

I have a extensive recipe database in Appleworks 6. Is there a way to convert this to Numbers or Pages?

New Macbook Pro running Mavericks; Pages; Numbers but no more Appleworks supported.
I have a collection of family recipes done in Appleworks 6 [database]--600 recipes+
I can sort on many different fields and easily search the data.
I am inserting a snapshot of one recipes for an example of the format that I set; loved the button functions!
I have it set to print to 4x6 cards.
Is there anyway to convert this to Pages or Numbers applications?
I can save my existing document as a pdf and can have access to them but i would love to be able to continue adding and editing the data--
ANYONE have a solution??

Peggy has very astutely laid out your options and I hate to see you abandon your Family Recipie database after so much time and effort.
It is doubtful that Apple will ever address the issue of Appleworks databases in a more direct way. They have Filemaker and you can export your data from Appleworks and create a new database in Filemaker and import all of your data without any loss of data. This is of course much work, but only a "one-time" amount of work and then your database continue forward in Filemaker.
You also acknowledge the continuing option of using older Mac hardware. While of course this option is easy and available to you now, what happens when your older Mac hardware dies and you are faced with a hardware purchase decision? Continue to try to find a suitable older Mac on the used market and wait for it to fail again. Or purchase a new Mac?
If you purchase a new Mac, and do not want to pursue the EXPORT -> IMPORT into a new database program, then the other option suggested by Peggy, installing Snow Leopard Server into Parallels for continued use of Appleworks 6 in Mavericks, is a good one and not too costly; about $99 or less.
In any event I highly recommend that you call Apple immediately and order a copy of Snow Leopard Server for $20 and at a minimum put it up on the shelf for later need, if any. Once Apple raises the price again, or discontinues it sale, it will become again very expensive on the third party market such as eBay and Amazon.
Once you receive it, you can download a 14 day free trial version of Parallels and try it out for yourself, if you like.

Daily, Monthly & YTD Numbers

HI guys,
I need some help. I need to display/calculate number of records for different types of SR's and different time periods in 4 columns as displayed below
SR Type | Daily | 30 Days | YTD (Year-to-Date)
Type A | 10 | 87 | 578
Type B | 7 | 44 | 234
Daily = SR's created/opened yesterday i.e. CURRENT_DATE-1
30 Days = SR's created in last 30 days starting yesterday (no specific months but 30 days )
YTD = SR's created till yesterday since start of the Fiscal Year (September 1st)
How do I do it in a single report.
I have a basic report with the different types and daily numbers running correctly. I tried to do it using a Pivot Table and CASE Statement

Is it possible to create a single report for these requirements and should I use a Pivot Table or is some other form better suited to these conditions?

Hello Gaurav,
I believe that your clients wants to see SRs that were created in the current year AND in the Daily, Last 30 days and YTD.
You logic is fine.
I first applied the filter on the opened date. The filter was YEAR("Date Opened".Date)=YEAR(CURRENT_DATE). This would fetch only SRs of the current year. To apply this formula, click on the fx button of Opened date and replace the exisiting value with YEAR("Date Opened".Date).
Then click on the filter of the column and Add session variable. In the Session variable add YEAR(CURRENT_DATE).
You need to use pivot table here. The rows would be the Type A, Type B etc.
The Columns would be the column having the function to check daily or last 30 days (refer below for the function) *@*
The measure would be # of Service Requests.

Convert .xls to .numbers?

I am probably missing something easy but just can't think of it.
I have been trying to open an .xls spreadsheet on my iMac. Numbers says the file can't be opened it is encrypted. How can I open this file and convert it to a Numbers document?
I am using iWorks '09 and OS X Leopard.

Convert array of numbers in numbers

Hello I am trying to use the example of advanced peak detector, I have my own signal in an array of number that I send to a waveform chart.

If you wire your (thick orange line) into a loop (for or while) the auto-indexing of the loop will do th work for you and then you can put your Point by Point peak detection inside the loop.
But if you have your data in an array, you may want to try the Peak Detector.vi that is situated in the Analyse - Signal Processing - Time domain group. You can wire there your array directly and the results aout are the same as the other one.

Bulk convert xls to .numbers ? Or getaround?

We own a beauty salon and our windows laptop is dying. We have bought an iPad which will hopefully replace salon laptop.
Only needing to use the web for browsing here and there and managing spreadsheets I have been told that iCloud and Numbers would manage our client database. I have with a bit off a faff successfully transferred around 1200 .xls files to iCloud.
When I open the .xls on the iPad it asks:
Open in Numbers
This spreadsheet may look different
on your IOS device. To preserve the
original, tap Open Copy.
Open | Open Copy
If I "open" numbers crashes, and if I "open a copy" the file duplicates to a .numbers file.
To clean up my client list do I have to open each one, then delete the .xls file? And then delete the "copy" text in the file name (I know this part isn't compulsory). Or is there a .xls to .numbers converter that will do this in bulk before I upload to iCloud? I have searched the net and tried to do this in Numbers and Xcel with no joy.
This really needs to be done in one hit for a smooth transfer as the client info is changing on a day to day basis. Also duplicate files spell possible disaster for us as the wrong file could easily be deleted by a staff member (or worse both) if this is done on an as and when basis.
Please tell me I'm being a total fool here and there's an easy way around this, thanks in advance and please help us out!

You probably could do the bulk convert on a Mac running numbers. You may have to write a script to automate.
You could try another spreadsheet app and see if it could work with .xls without conversion. You may consider another backup site like dropbox.com so that you have two/three copies of your files.
All of the "Office" document editing applications on the iPad have limitations. Best try them out to see if they meet your needs.
