Converting a floating pt field to a date/integer

Hi,
I have a problem of converting a floating point field in a transparent table to a date for display. For example I needs to convert '2.0050101000000000E+07' to '01.01.2005'. What are the methods available? I also need to convert this kind of field to a integer.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Try doing this,
DATA: LV_DATE type d,
      LV_STR1(30) type c,
      LV_STR2(8) type c,
      LV_INT type i.
write lv_float to lv_str1.
replace '.' in lv_str1 with ''.
shift lv_str1 left deleting leading space.
lv_str2 = lv_str1.
lv_date = lv_str2.
lv_int = lv_str2.

Profibus data type converting to floating point

Hi,
Is there an efficient way to convert the incoming data to the floating point in the NI cRIO Profibus system?
1) The system is : NI cRIO 9068 Controller with Comsoft profibus slave module. The lavview we are using is 2013.
2) We are using profibus slave example and are able to see a array of unsigned 8 bit data. Please see the Output data shown in the attachement.
3) On the other side of profibus system, thrid party profibus master are converting floating points and tranmit the converted data to NI profibus slave.

If it's just a matter of converting data types once you have the data in LabVIEW, you can always manually scale and convert the data using the arithmetic functions and the "To Double Precision Float" or "To Single Precision Float" functions. You just have to know what floating point value the unsigned byte integer corresponds to. Is that what you're asking?
If you're asking for a way to this inherently with the Profibus functions, I'm afraid I can't be of much help...

New@SSIS - Excel Src: The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data

Good day,
I am currently working on a SSIS package that had been built by a previous user. That Package allows me to import data from an excel source to a SQL table. The excel sheet holds multiple columns, However I am having difficulty with one
column when running the package.
The column rows hold a character and an integer (eg: N2). The data types are as follows:
SQL – varchar(3),NULL
SSIS - double-precision float [DT_R8]
I then inserted a data conversion task to change the data type. The task holds the following properties:
Input column – F6
Output Alias – Copy of F6
Data Type – string[DT_STR]
Length – 50
When I execute the package I receive the following error:”
[Excel Source Data [76]] Error: There was an error with output column "F6" (91) on output "Excel Source Output" (85). The column status returned was: "The value could not be converted because
of a potential loss of data.".
I do know that usually the message "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data." refers to a data type or length problem.
Further insight to this problem will be much appreciated.

From the error message you post, we can infer the issue is caused by the input column “F6” cannot convert to the output column in Excel Source.
Based on my test, I can reproduce the issue in my environment. The exactly cause is the data type of input column “F6” cannot convert to the data type of corresponding output column. For example, the data type of input column “F6” is [DT_STR], the data type
of corresponding output column is [DT_I4], and there are some nonnumeric values in the input column “F6”. When we execute the task, the error occurs. We can verify the issue in the Advanced Editor dialog box of Excel Source. The following screenshot is for
your reference:
To avoid this issue, please make sure the input column can convert to the output column in Excel Source, including all the values in the input column.

MDM JAVA API to enter value into field of type date

Hi All,
I am having an input field in a typical Dynpro application where a date would be entered.I want to enter the date in my MDM table in a field of type "Date".Do you have any idea about MDM JAVA API's I need to do this.Also how can I do this ?

Hi,
Web Dynpro shall return you a type Date field. For Value, you shall have to pass SystemTime Object.
Just get the substring of Date.toString() and convert them to Integer ..
So a typical date would look like yyyy-mm-dd (eg: 2006-10-19) and not yyyymmdd.
SystemTime st = new SystemTime();
st.setYear( Integer.parseInt(Date.toString().substring(0,4));
st.setMonth ( Integer.parseInt(Date.toString().substring(5,7));
st.setDate ( Integer.parseInt(Date.toString().substring(8,10));
A2iField date = new A2iField("fieldname", new Value(st));

Can't format a char field as a date

I have a char field coming in from a table that really is a date. I wanted to display the YYYYMMDD char field as MM/DD/YYYY.
I could not get any conversion (CDate) to work and I can't figure out how to set field[0,4] = year and so on, so I could come back and build the string.
Can somebody help me?

I have a field that should be a DATE type, but is instead a VARCHAR2(8). The data in the VARCHAR2(8) field is displayed as what looks like a date -- EX: 09/18/09. I need to be able to convert the VARCHAR2(8) field so that it brings back the spelled out month plus the numeric day and year -- EX: September 18, 2009.
I've been able to successfully convert a DATE type to the needed format (September 18, 2009) using the following syntax line, but now need to convert the VARCHAR2(8):
to_char(jud_report_hear_off_v.incdate,'fmMonth dd, yyyy,') as INCDATE

Convert XML string into an abap format date and time

Does anyone know of a method or a function module in ABAP which converts XML string into an abap format date and time.
Here is a part of the xml that I want to convert.
<ns2:EventDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45+10:00</ns2:EventDateTime>
<ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45.987+10:00</ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>
Currently EventDateTime and EventMessageTransmissionDateTime are type XSDDATETIME_Z and these are converted to proper dates and times. We will be changing these fields to a STRING instead of XSDDATETIME_Z. The reason for this is to make the field more versatile. The customer would be receiving dates with Zulu (2009-09-23T12:00:00Z), with offsets (2009-09-23T12:00:00+10:00/-10:00) and just local timestamp (2009-09-23T12:00:00). With this, we need to make the date fields as string
to be able to accept the various date formats (esp. the local timestamp).
I am looking for a standard function module or method that will convert the xml string to a proper date and time abap format.
Would appreciate anyone's help!

Convert Text from Text Field

For compatability purposes with other forms, I have a text field that numeric data is entered into. I would however like to perform a calculation off of this field, so would therefore like to convert the number entered into this field into a numeric value rather than a text value. Can anyone explain to me how this is done?

Depending on the type of number you want you would use parseInt or parseFloat in Javascript. So when addressing your field in the calculation (assuming it is called TextField1)
var myResult = parseFloat(TextField1.rawValue) + 123.45

I have a flat file that i want to import the contents onto a SQL database.
I created a Dataflow task, source file and oledb destination.
I am getting the folliwung error -
"column "A" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types"
in the origin file the data type is coming as string[DT_STR] and in the destination object it is coming as "Unicode string [DT_WSTR]"
I used a data conversion object in between, dosent works very well
Please help what to do

I see this often.
Right Click on FlatFileSource --> Show Advanced Editor --> 'Input and Output Properties' tab --> Expand 'Flat File Source Output' --> Expand 'Output Columns' --> Select your field and set the datatype to DT_WSTR.

Environment: SQL Server 2008 R2
Introduction:Staging_table is a table where data is being stored from source file. Individual and ind_subject_scores are destination tables.
Purpose: To load the data from a source file .csv while SSIS define table fields with 50 varchar, I can still transfer the data to the entity table/ destination and keeping the table definition.
I'm getting validation error "Cannot convert between a unicode and a non-unicode string data types" for all the columns.
Please help

Fields missing from Data Source but displayed in RSA3

Hello Experts
I have an issue while finding for a field in the data source. As I am looking for some fields : MABST, MINBE, EISBE on BW Side but not found. When I llok the same fields in ECC Side in the table RSOSFieldmap, then I get these fields in 0MAT_PLANT_ATTR Data Source. In the same time , the fields are not available in the Data source on BW Side as well as on ECC Side(while goin thru RSA6). Also when I execute the RSA3 for the data source, I am getting the data in the Missing Fields. How it can be possible? Also plz let me know how can I make these fields available in Data Source.
I replicate the data source, also i looked for the hidden fields, but still not succeed.

TO unhide the field,
Just Goto T.code RSO2 > press change button.> unhide the filds and --> Generate the Datasource
or
Goto RSA6 --> select the Datasource and --> press change button (pencil icon) --> unhide the filed --> Save and Generate the Datasource.
Try the above two option and check if it is working.

Expanding text field to hold data

This sounds like a pretty simple problem, but... I have created a form using Designer that consists for 4 text boxes that span the width of the page. We are using a middleware product, LogiXML, to populate the form. We have successfully accomplished getting the data to appear in the text fields, but the data is being cut of because of the size of the boxes. I have selected the check box to allow the box to expand and to allow mutiple lines. This doesn't seem to have any effect. Am I missing something here?

The only field type that'll let you have multiple lines of text is a text edit. With that object, you can check the
Allow multiple lines property on the Object palette's Field tab and check the
Expand Height (in your case since the text fields are side-by-side) property on the Layout palette.
The combination of these two properties should get you text fields which display their content in total visibility.
If that still doesn't work, then it's possible you haven't saved your form as a
Dynamic PDF form (or, if you've saved your form as XDP, that you aren't previewing it as a Dynamic PDF form).
If you think your problem is the preview type (i.e. you're not previewing as a dynamic PDF), the following entry on my blog should help you out:

Adding new field to Master Data

Hi All,
I have one master data which is business content.
i need to add one custom field in that with the status information of records. that new field will get data from R/3 status table via extractor from CMOD.
now this Master data is having delta.
my confusion is if i add new field in it how the delta will react ? coz there are different status - eg. when user create the status - it will be "created" that time delta will pick up that record coz it has been changed. Now if user changes status to "closed" or "in transit" how delta will react ?
i meant is it doable to do like that ? any guidance will be appreciated.

Your master data extractor will continue to give your existing fields- as for delta - it depends on how the delta is managed - you would have to find that oiut - is it on timestamp / date et etc... ?
CMOD will change only the extract structure and whenever this datasource is called - CMOD fills in the additional field - nothin about delta / init here...
