Converting ac3 to Open in QT ??

What can I use to easily convert ac3 files to open in Quicktime?

Thanks Colin,
Immediately after posting I found mACdec and am converting a file as we speak. The file was stripped from a VOB. If StreamClip will extract straight from the VOB file this could save me a step in the future, I'll give it a try.

Downloaded to desktop, Mac, double clicked said not recongnized. Any ideas. thanks!

Where did you download the DNG converter from? It is possible that the downloaded file is corrupt. Which version of Photoshop you're going to use the DNG converter with? You may download one from this page:

  • Converting ac3 files into mp3

Does anyone know if I can convert ac3 files that are created by compressor for DVD Studio pro into MP3 files?
    Cheers

    Hi:
You can use MPEG Streamclip to extract the audio tracks from your DVD and re-encode them as AIFF. Then use iTunes to convert to mp3.
I have just tried and Streamclip doesn't take just the ac3 file, you need to take them from the VOB files.
Hope that helps . . . and hope you own the rights of the material !!

  • Sony Image Data Converter no longer opens RAW files

After upgrading to Snow Leopard Sony Image Data Converter (ver 3.1) cannot open my RAW files. It sees the files but claims they are 0x0 pixels in size. It worked fine with Leopard 10.5.8.

Image Data Converter v2.2.02 also fails to open any files but was OK in 10.5.8. Image Data Lightbox v1.0.02 does run OK, opens a directory of files fine, and converts them. The app crashes on exit every time however!
Adobe Camera RAW and Adobe Elements v6 all work perfectly well. But I have never been able to see ARW images in Adobe Bridge!

  • Word hyperlinks converted to PDF-open in new window???

I currently use Word 2007 to build indexes with hyperlinks and convert to PDF using Adobe Professional 9. I know how to set my Adobe preferences so that hyperlinks open in a new window, but I want to set this on the document level for each index I create. I also know how to set each link within the final pdf to open in a new window (if I go through each and every link preference).  I must create the hyperlinks in Word as there are many instances that my indexes change prior to distribution of the discs and I don't like having to duplicate, triplicate, etc. my linking process in Adobe as some of my indexes contain 300+ links. I only know of JavaScript but not enough to use with confidence...  I want the hyperlinks to open in new windows (as that has always been my instructions to the end user) without the end user having to fumble around with their systems and settings. It has just been brought to my attention that my discs do not have that function set. Meaning, that what I view and test on my system is not the same as the end user. The hyperlinks open in the same window (dang it!!). I did see a JavaScript solution but keep getting an error (on line 2). Here is the JavaScript I found in the forum: app.openInPlace = false;   //Opens cross-document links in separate windows.
    So, I have muliple questions...
Is this sript the best way to accomplish the document level open in a new window function?
Is this script written correctly? (I did cut and paste this script within the brackets)
If I use the JavaScript and save, does that save in the Adobe application system or just on the document level?  And then how do I delete if it doesn't work properly?
What other functions can you suggest I try?
    Any suggestions would be helpful!

Where did you place that script, exactly?
It should work, there's probably just an error in how you added the text of the script. Try removing the comment so that there's only one line of code:
    app.openInPlace = true;
Note that this changes the user preference, which is generally frowned upon, so you should endeavor to set it back to what it was in the first place when the document is closed. This would involve storing the value of this property when the document opens, change it if necessary, and restore it when the document closes. It also won't work for those users who have JavaScript disabled.
Unfortunately, link annotations are difficult to alter in an automated way given what's available in Acrobat. It would be possible with an Acrobat plug-in to make document-wide changes to all of the links, but I'm not aware of any that do this. You might want to search around.

  • [Converted] appears when opening CS2 files

Our office uses InDesign CS2 v.4.0.5 on Windows XP Professional SP3, and we're having a problem with one computer. When we attempt to open any InDesign documents on it, the pages open as "FileName.indd @ 100% [Converted]" and then bring up a Save As... dialogue when we try to save them. It's acting like it's a different version of InDesign altogether, but it claims to be CS2 v.4.0.5 like everyone else's.
Someone used to use that computer daily, and it didn't have any problems then, and it hasn't been updated as far as I know. I'd avoid using it now, but we've got a test station set up there for an install of a program tied into InDesign.
Should we just reinstall and see if that fixes the problem, or is there something else going on?
    Thanks!

The converted tag is only appended, as far as I know, when opening in a newer version, or possibly when opening a Pagemaker or Quark file (which I seldom to never do anymore). This should not happen when opening files from the same version but a different dot release update.
Presuming you are correct and that machine really i s running CS2, it sounds like you 've found some older files that haven't been updated yet, but here's waht you can do to find out. On Windows, oven the Help Menu and hold the Ctrl key while you click on About InDesign. On mack it's the Cmd key, and I can never remember if it's under the InDesign Menu or the Help menu, but you want the About ID item.
You should see a very detailed dialog with a complete version number including the build in teh upper left corner, lots of inforamtion about plugins and such, and in the lower left is a complete file save history, including versions and platforms and whtehr it was opened as a conversion from another app.

  • Graphic Converter insisting on opening WMV files

I'm trying to access wmv files, but even after downloading the Windows Media Player and Stuffit, my Graphic Converter keeps trying to open the files, and it CAN'T!! I just keep getting boxes of codes appearing on my screen. Do I need to get rid of Graphic Converter or is there a better solution? Thank you, in advance, for any help you can offer.
    Tara

    I don't think you're quite on target.
Locate a .wmv movie file in the Finder. Select the file with the mouse and press COMMAND-I. That should open the Get Info window. Alternatively, use the Get Info menu selection in the Finder's File menu. Then locate the section labeled Open With. You may need to click on the little arrow on the side to open the section. Proceed as previously instructed.

  • I have Elements 8. I have bought A Nikon D750 and take Raw files. I have downloaded Raw 8.8 file converter, but cannot open Raw files

I have Elements 8. Raw converter for my previous Nikon D300s worked ok. Now I have D750 cannot open Raw files. I have downloaded lastest Raw converter from Adobe 8.8
Still cannot open Raw file. Get message "cannot open as it is wrong type of file" How do I get the latest Raw converter to work with Elements 8? Any info gratefully received.

Are you saying you converted from NEF to DNG? If so, after you convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format, the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Convert media BEFORE open FCPX

    Good night,
recently i've started to work with FCPX 10.1, before i 've been working with FCP 7. My question is about transcoding media: In FCP 7, you can convert all H.264 from 5DMII to ProRes via MPEG Streamclip or Apple Compressor. In the new project i do the same, convert my h.264 to ProRes 422 to edit, but even in ProRes 422, FCPX asking for Render the timeline. So, exist one way to convert media to ProRes 422 to work native in FCPX before i open the software?

You should not be using Streamclip.
Simply import your video and you will be given the option for FCP X to convert ("optimize") the video automatically.

  • Is there a way to convert bookmarks from opening as Fit Width size to Fit Page without doing each one individually?

I have a document that has a number of bookmarks already in it.  I cannot figure out how to change their behavior when clicking on them unless I change each one one at a time.  There are 822 pages and at least that many bookmarks.  Any way to tell Acrobat to make them all open in a fit page view instead of the Fit Width they are in now?  Save me a ton of time.  Thanks for any help.  Using Acrobat Pro XI on a Mac...standalone application...not in the cloud.
    Bill

    Hi William,
You can go to View> Zoom> Fit Width and the setting will be applied to the complete pdf.

  • Can't open NEF or convert to DNG from NIkon D3

I have a new Nikon D3. I purchased CS3 sooner than I expected since there were some problems converting or even opening NEF files produced with the Nikon softwares.
Now CS3 tells me that it can't open NEFs. And when I try to convert them to DNGs on import, it says that operation fails.
Is there something elemental here that I am missing? Somewhere in the info I read that CS3 supports the D3. Is there some hidden setting somewhere?
I didn't buy a better camera just to shoot in jpegs. This is a mission critical issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I just bought a new Nikon D5000. I can't open the NEF files in any app(CS 8.0(yeah, I know)/Lightroom 2.3(just downloaded)/Aperture(just downloaded). I can only use Nikon software. What version of CS opens them, why doesn't a brand new version of Lightroom 2.3 do so?
Because Lightroom 2.3 was released BEFORE the Nikon D5000 was ever even announced.  Support has been added for each specific model, and Adobe has to have images from the model in order to provide the support.  As far as your version of Photoshop is concerned, there will never be direct camera raw support for your camera.  As soon as Adobe announces an update that will support the D5000, you will be able to use the DNG converter (after it has been updated) to create Digital negative copies of the raw files from your camera.

  • Pages demo expired, how can i open or convert what i made in pages?

i have searched the forums! no luck with this one....
I have a bunch of pages documents that i created with the demo. I don't like pages. How can i open these pages documents with pages? is there a way to convert them? open with some other application?
This is kink of a rude effect from using a demo, there should be a way to open without pages.

I want to open these documents into something to rescue the content, no care for formatting. NOT an unusual request to be able to open a document of any kind with a text editor! But Apple apparently has everyone convinced that i should not be able to port or open with another application! This is more like a Microsoft tactic then one i would see from Apple.
The reason for a limited-time trial is check out the new to-die-for features, not to have ones work, thoughts, etc locked into something i have to pay for to rescue. (30 days is a joke, should be 90)
Your not considering the reason for my question, I do not want to use PAGES!
There should be a waring when closing or opening Pages during demo mode, that stats that when this demo expires, I will not be able to access my work. I do not remember seeing anything like this, i may be incorrect...
    This question remains unanswered.

  • Best video to ipod video converter software

What is the best program I can buy for coverting my dvd's and other videos (including recorded tv shows on my dvr) to ipod video? Thanks.

Hopefully in answer to the many posts on “how to get various video formats onto your iPod” I have put together a summary of applications I use. I have tried a few others with varying amounts of success (some of which are free) - I have finally plumped for the software produced by Xilisoft as providing good quality video relatively affordable cost for use withPC’s and numerous MS operating systems. The link below takes you to their site which not only allows you to download trail versions of their software but also has a comprehensive set of tutorials and FAQ's for their iPod video conversion software.
I have regularly used these applications to convert various file formats to iPod friendly video. They are simple to use although frequently processor and RAM hungry:
Use Xilisoft iPod Video Converter if you want to:
[*]Convert various video file formats to MP4
[*]Convert most audio file formats to MP3
[*]Extract audio from video file and save to MP3
    [*]Encode several files simultaneously
[*]Pause encoding process to run other CPU time consuming programs at any time
    Supported file formats:
    Video:
    [*]MPEG(mpg, mpeg, dat, vob); WMV; ASF; AVI; QuichTime(mov, qt); MPEG4(mp4); 3GP; DV(dv,
    dif); Real Video(rm); Animated GIF(gif - decoding only); Macromedia Flash(swf - decoding
    audio only);
    Audio:
[*]MPEG Audio(mp2, mp3); WMA; WAV; AU; MPEG4 Audio(m4a); Real Audio(ra); OGG; AAC; Raw
    AC3(ac3); NUT Open Container Format(nut);
To convert DVD's to an iPod friendly video format:
Use Xilisoft DVD to iPod V4:
[*]Just pop the DVD in your drive select compression variables (default settings work well) and sit back!
All these products are available on a "try before you buy basis", yes there are applications for XP which are free but and may work just as well but I have converted many hours of video for my iPod without hassle using the Xilisoft products (no I don't work for them!). Check there web site HERE
