Converting an involved ABAP Report to BW

I have been asked to convert a report currently produced by a lot of ABAP code into BW.
I am having a hard time deciding just how to go about implementing this report.
The report consists of summarized rows which are calculated with a different formula and criteria for each row.
Criteria A
KF1A / KF2A   .....
KF3A - KF4A   .....
KF5A + KF6A  .....
Criteria B
KF1A / KF2B   .....
KF3A - KF4B   .....
KF5A + KF6B  .....
Criteria C
KF1D / KF2C   .....
KF3D - KF4C   .....
KF5D + KF6C  .....
I'm inclined to write an ABAP program, to be put into a process chain, that calculates each row as it does now, and then get that into a BEx-enabled ODS Object which simply carries the results for each column.
Will that work?  Do you have a better idea?  Points will be awarded for your help!

OK, I think I'm starting to get it now.
The data for the report (mostly) comes from two tables in the R/3 database. One is an R/3 transaction structure that carries sales summarized by month, while another is a master file containing salesperson sales goals expressed in different ways: $ volume, quantity, margin, etc.
The salesperson's goals are an infrequently updated master file, so that should be loaded as Master Data with direct update, right?  The table carries the goals for Jan, Feb, Mar ... Dec in separate columns thus named, and I plan to generate 12 records for each of those, expressing the month/year as 0CALMONTH.
The structure from R/3 with monthly sales data probably should go into an ODS Object that is updated by Init and Delta.
From there, all I have to do is to device a way for the information to flow in the right order for the report, and conditionally do the necessary calculations in the update routines for a BEx-enabled ODS Object that represents the report output line by line.
Any ABAP logic, no matter how involved, can be coded into routines. The repetitive stuff should be generalized and put into functions.
Am I getting closer?

    Hi all,
    What are the steps to be taken while converting a normal ABAP report program to ABAP objects? Also, How do we write a module(of a module pool program) in ABAP objects?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Aswin

    Use methods of a class instead of subrouties wherever possible.
    Declare the global variables in the attributes section of a class.
    Make sure that your design itself is more data centric than process centric.

  • Convert abap reports into crystal reports

    Hi,
    We are trying to convert abap reports into crystal reports.We could convert these reports into XML files
    Now we want to create utility which will automate the conversion of XML files into RPT files of crystal reports.Later on we can refresh the data in reports by changing the datasource location.
    Can you please guide us whether it is possible and if yes how should we go about it?
    regards,
    shital

    Hi, i suggest, 2 technies to do this, the first one, you can use,
    CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE
      EXPORTING
        APPLICATION            = 'C:\Program Files\crystalreports.exe'
      EXCEPTIONS
        CNTL_ERROR             = 1
        ERROR_NO_GUI           = 2
        BAD_PARAMETER          = 3
        FILE_NOT_FOUND         = 4
        PATH_NOT_FOUND         = 5
        FILE_EXTENSION_UNKNOWN = 6
        ERROR_EXECUTE_FAILED   = 7
        SYNCHRONOUS_FAILED     = 8
        NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI   = 9
        OTHERS                 = 10.
    where, exe file could be, a crviewer.exe, and, use a parameters  ( on exe ) to indicate rpt file, or, define of standar mode, a generic name and put, xml file generated via abap, on  a repository, this way, rpt file, when launched, displaying file.
    the second choice, could be,  go SM69, click create. enter a command name 'ZCREXE', enter the path and the exe file name in operating system command field. You can call this exe from ABAP using SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
    i hope so that my answers help you.
    greetings.

  • How to convert ABAP Reports in other languages during runtime.

  • ABAP Query Need to Convert ABAP Report

    Dear All,
    We have 3 queries which are linked to service management, now, user wants to consolidated one ABAP report with feilds of 3 queries, which consist of total 100 feilds. he want provision of downloading each single query (in ABAP report).
    Is ther anyway whee we can pass all the 3 quries values in internal tables and pass to ABAP report?? is there any better way so that we will reduce the writing of big logic for 100 feilds??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ramki

    Hi ,
    you can do this way..
    for every query there is a
    *     Validating Variant name for Query Name
          CONCATENATE '%' <query group> '%' <Query name > '%' INTO w_rname.
          SELECT SINGLE * FROM varid WHERE report LIKE w_rname
                                     AND   variant EQ p_variant.
          IF sy-subrc NE 0.
         ENDIF.
    *   Submit report in background and creating spool
      SUBMIT (w_rname) USING SELECTION-SET p_variant
          TO SAP-SPOOL WITHOUT SPOOL DYNPRO
          SPOOL PARAMETERS wa_pri_params AND RETURN.
      COMMIT WORK AND WAIT.
    "create spool like above for three query and and capture in Spool and format the three spools
    "into one internal table and form one report.

  • Conversion of the ABAP Report (ALV based) into BSP Application

    Hello Friends,
    I tried to convert the abap report into a bsp application. I have followed all the steps mentoined in the previous threads regarding this topic.
    I have created a simple Z report in CRM, that displays the business partner details from the table BUT000 based on the partner entered. Partner is the input given to this report. I have defined the partner field in PARAMETERS.
    Now I have written all the code in the onInitialization of the BSP Page looking at the previous threads and also in the layout of the page.
    submit ZTEST_PARTNER
    exporting list to memory and return
    with p_part = 'HR10079430'.
    and also the rest of the code.
    It is working fine. The BSP page is displayed with all the Business Partner details.
    Now the problem is I have another Z report that displays the result in the ALV grid. The report uses the Function Module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY to display the output.
    If I use the same method above this is giving a dump, I mean it says the page cannot be displayed.
    So, how should I use the above method to convert the ALV Grid based Z report into a BSP Application.
    Please give your suggestions.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raju.

    you cannot .
    even if you use a normal report to
    submit the alv grid report
    exporting list to memory and return
    it will show the alv on screen and will nt just export the list to memory.

  • XML file to ABAP report..gidance needed on approach

    Hello All,
    We have an existing ccBPM enabled interface between SAP-ECC and a 3rd party via PI. Currently after all the to-and-fro processing, 3rd party sends an XML FINAL-RESPONSE-FILE to PI, which resides on a folder in PI server. ( Interface ends here)
    Now the requirement is that we need to enhance this interface or create a new one which would pick the XML FINAL_RESPONSE_FILE and format the XML data and present it in user-friendly form in terms of a report /alv.
    What I want to know is:
    1> Should we enhance the existing interface and ccBPM to wait for this final-response file to come and then trigger some BAPI or maybe a proxy to send this data to ECC for further processing.
    OR
    2> Should we create a sepaarte interface which picks this file asynchronously and sends to ECC for further processing.
    OR
    3> Should a create an ABAP report, which would pick this file from PI server and format the data and create an report out of it. ( Here I assume SAP must be havinga  fm to convert XML to some internal table readable format)...please advise if there is such an FM.
    OR
    4> Is there any better approach for my scenario - I am a newbie in ccBPM.
    Many thanks
    Shirin

    Hi,
    1> Should we enhance the existing interface and ccBPM to wait for this final-response file to come and then trigger some BAPI or maybe a proxy to send this data to ECC for further processing.
    No...if you are planning to make the ccBPM wait then avoid this design...it will keep on utilising system resources till the response gets back...
    OR
    2> Should we create a sepaarte interface which picks this file asynchronously and sends to ECC for further processing.
    you can try this one.....rather I would have tried this one:)
    If you have a guarentee that the response will come within a stipulated time-period (say X secs...not very large) and if you are not supposed to create a new interface...then go for change in BPM

    Abhishek.

  • RESERVE command alternative in ABAP report

    We have a requirement to print article pricing data on a report (simple list, not ALV or SAP Script). If data for the next article does not fit on the remaining lines of the current page then a new page should be started. I know we can use the RESERVE command but this means working out how many lines the next article will use. Is there anything like the PROTECT/END PROTECT command used in SAP Script that we can use in the ABAP report? Or can anyone suggest another way?
    Regards

    I don't think there is anyway around this other than to count the number of lines for the article before starting to print and throw a new page if necessary. I was hoping to avoid doing this as counting the number of print lines for an article will be quite involved.
    I think what I shall do is collect all required data for an article and then call a print routine. The print routine shall be called twice, the first time it shall not print the data but count each line that would be printed. On return from the first call to this routine I shall have available the total number of print lines for the article. Now I shall do a NEW-PAGE if needed and call the print routine a second time to actually print the data.
    Each WRITE command in the print routine shall have to take the form:
    IF print_on.
      WRITE:/ ......
    ELSE.
      ADD 1 TO g_total_print_lines_for_article.
    ENDIF.
    The overhead to calling the print routine twice shall not be that great as all the data will already have been collected prior to the first call.
    Messy but necessary I guess.
    Cheers

    Actually with a few changes you are close to a solution here.  There is way to get the output of the report and convert it to HTML.  You will need to have a little wrapper application around your report. You will have to run this wrapper as a background job or via RFC (pointing to destination NONE). Here is a sample:
    * SELECTION SCREEN LAYOUT                                              *
    selection-screen begin of block two with frame title text-002.
    parameter: prog like sy-repid.
    parameter: vari1 like raldb-variant.
    selection-screen end of block two.
    .....Other Processing....
    submit (prog) and return
               exporting list to memory
               using selection-set vari1.
      call function 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
           tables
                listobject = itab
           exceptions
                not_found  = 1.
      if sy-subrc ne 0.
        leave program.
      endif.
      call function 'WWW_HTML_FROM_LISTOBJECT'
       exporting
    *    REPORT_NAME         =
         template_name       = 'WEBREPORTING_REPORT'
        tables
          html                = html_tab
          listobject          = itab.
    Once the data is converted into HTML it is more usable from WD.  You can't really display it directly within WD, but you could push it out as a file attachment from WD using cl_wd_runtime_services=>attach_file_to_response.
    This is a lot of work and I still think it might be easier to fire a linkToURL or Exit Plug and navigate to the ITS/WebGUI.

  • ABAP Report as HTML

    Hello,
    we have a couple of ABAP reports that generate a traditional list (with WRITE) and now I have to convert the output as HTML and display it (perhaps) in a new window of the browser. I´m not sure if function WWW_LIST_TO_HTML can be very helpful for that purpose.
    Has any one experience in this field that can tell me a couple of tricks on how to do it the best way ?? The reports will be called from BSP pages, of course.
    Thanks a lot

    if your report dosent have parameters or you dont need to supply any parameter simply call the following url
    http://<wasserver>.xxx.com:<port>/sabp/bc/report?report=<your report>

    Hi Swathi,
    In such case, as said above, create a new GUi status and then assign to the report using the below statement:
    AT PFnn.
    Effect
    This obsolete statement defines an event block whose event is triggered by the ABAP runtime environment during list display - provided the screen cursor is on a list line and a function is selected using the function code PFnn. Here nn stands for a number between 01 and 24. In the standard list status, these function codes are assigned to the function keys of the input device.
    Then what processing needs to be done when the user presses the button, will be written in the below control statement..
    AT USER-COMMAND
    Effect
    This statement defines an event block whose event is triggered by the ABAP runtime environment if, during the display of a screen list, a function with a self-defined function code was chosen.
    Note
    Self-defined function codes are all those that include character combinations, except for the following:
    The function codes "PICK" and "PFnn" ("nn"stands for 01 to 24) do not cause the event AT USER-COMMAND, but the events AT LINE-SELECTION and AT PFnn.
    All function codes that start with the character "%" are interpreted as system functions and do not cause the event AT USER-COMMAND. The system functions for lists are listed in the following table 1.
    The function codes in the following table 2, likewise, do not cause the event AT USER-COMMAND, but are handled by the list processor.
    Table 1
    Function code Function
    %CTX Call a context menu
    %EX Exit
    %PC Save to file
    %PRI Print
    %SC Search for ...
    %SC+ Find next
    %SL Search in office
    %ST Save to report tree
    Table 2
    Function code Function
    BACK Back
    P- Scroll to previous page
    P-- Scroll to first page
    P+ Scroll to next page
    P++ Scroll to last page
    PFILE name Store list lines in a text file named "abap.lst" in standard character representation in the standard directory of the application server. If a name is entered using name, this is converted to lowercase letters and used as the file name.
    PL- Scroll to first line of the page
    PL-n Scroll n lines back
    PL+ Scroll to last line of the page
    PL+n Scroll n lines up
    PNOP No effect
    PP- Scroll back one page

    PPn Scroll to beginning of page n

    PS-n Scroll n columns to the left
    PS+ Scroll one column to the right
    PS+n Scroll n columns to the right
    PSn Scroll to column n
    PZn Scroll to line n

    Example
    This program works with a self-defined GUI status MYLIST. The function that is linked there with the function code MY_SELECTION causes the event AT USER-COMMAND during list display and also creates details lists.
    REPORT demo_at_user_command.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
      SET PF-STATUS 'MYLIST'.
      WRITE 'List line'.
    AT USER-COMMAND.
      IF sy-lsind = 20.
        SET PF-STATUS 'MYLIST' EXCLUDING 'MY_SELECTION'.
      ENDIF.
      CASE sy-ucomm.
        WHEN 'MY_SELECTION'.
          WRITE: / 'You worked on list', sy-listi,
                 / 'You are on list', sy-lsind.
      ENDCASE.

  • ABAP Report to Bex

    Hi Gurus,
    I have an ABAP report, I would like to have the same report to be either converted to BEx report or as a web report. So that finally the user looks into the report through web as a web report that we do in BW.
    Please let me know....and any suggestions please do forward
    Thanks,
    ND

    hi,
    you can create a datasource from RSO2 and then create an infocube or ODS. load data into it and create query. if you dont want to load data into cube, you can use "Based on data transfer process for direct access" option instead of standard infocube while creation infocube.

  • Classical List to ALV format in sap abap report

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to change the existing abap report in which teh output is dispalyed in classical list format.
    I want to convert this list report output into ALV format.
    COuld anyone please help me how to convert this from Classical list to ALV format?
    Thanks,
    Komal.
    Moderator message: sorry, this not the place to teach the basics, please search for available information. If you understand the classical list and how to use ALV, then you can also do the transfer yourself.

    This will be very difficult for you.....
    Since you are getting a time out error....it looks like, you are runnning this report in foreground....................
    Try running it in background it will work...
    ELSE....you have to fetch in small chunks....but the question is how will you do it. Since the USR02 only has BNAME as primary key...
    Either put the BNAME as part of selection screen and fetch the data.....it will solve your problem....
    Only fetch for those BNAME which is entered in the selection screen...
    Hope it helps!
