Converting comp time into decimal time?

I'm needing to caption some web movies, but Flash's DFXP format likes decimal time for in/out points. Any clever math to convert the current comp timebase (23.976, 29.97, frames, etc) to a base10 decimal?

Do you want to convert frame 23.976 to timecode?

  • Converting a counter to relative time

    Hello!  I have a fairly simple question if anyone has a moment.  I have a while loop with a 1000ms Wait inside, along with some other stuff that's irrelevant to the question.  Since my incrementer essentially counts the seconds elapsed due to the presence of the 1000ms Wait, I'd like to take the built in incrementer (i) and use it to display the relative time that has elapsed since the while loop began.  This loop will be running for 3 hours, so I'd like to display in HH:MMS format.  So basically, I'm looking for a way to convert the counter into a time value.  Any thoughts?  I know the Wait function isn't exactly accurate, but that's ok.  I don't need to be 100% accurate in this vi.  Just a rough estimate will be fine. It seems like there should be a relatively simple way to do this, but I can't figure it out...  Thanks!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    The code could not get much simpler. You just wire a numeric indicator to the iteration terminal. Set the display format to absolute time and HH:MMS time format.

  • How do I convert a string into a decimal

    I've been tryin to convert a string into decimal but I can't get it to work at all. I keep getting an exception.
    I've tried all of these:
    double myDouble = Double.valueOf(string).doubleValue();
    int myint = Interger.parseInt(string);
    float myfloat = Float.parseFloat(string);
    I can't get anything to work.
    That string i'm reading in is an array containing values with decimals. ex: -45.09348
    All the above work fine if there is no decimal, but fails when it comes to one.
    How do I go about doing this?
    Thanks!

    This works for me:String s = "-45.6789";
    double d = Double.parseDouble(s);
    System.out.println(d);Mark

  • Windows Service - While converting into decimal its takes comma instead of decimal point

    Hi,
    We are converting hex value into decimal in windows service application ,  its working fine in almost all PC's except one.
    When we are using same code/windows service in French PC, while converting hex value into decimal its going wrong ( Ex : 1256,8904 instead of 1256.8904 )  that's is instead of decimal point takes comma. We executed same code in sample win
    form on same PC its working fine.
    actual value is "1256.8904" but its converting into "1256,8904". Can you please give me some idea how to resolve this.

  • How do i convert a portion of day into a time?

    How do i convert a portion of day into a time, without dividing and modding the number myself?
    For example, i calculated solar noon UTC to be .733409047. Adding that to the date gives the correct answer:
    SQL> SELECT TO_DATE('1/1/2012', 'DD/MM/YYYY') + .733409047 FROM Dual;
    TO_DATE('1/1/2012',
    01/01/2012 17:36:07
    A few questions, to actually understand this.
    Is .733409047 implicitly converted? If so, to what datatype?
    If i want HH:MM:SS does it need to be converted to a date, and then TO_CHAR? Or can the decimal be directly converted?
    I'm currently trying to understand INTERVAL.
    SQL> select interval '.5' day from dual;
    select interval '.5' day from dual
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01867: the interval is invalid
    So, i'm obviously misunderstanding it. Can it be used here?

    Is .733409047 implicitly converted? If so, to what datatype?No, there is no conversion going on here, just Date Arithmetic .
    In Oracle, if d is a DATE and n is a NUMBER (not necessarily an integer, and not necessarily positive), d+n is the DATE that is n days later than d.
    If i want HH:MM:SS does it need to be converted to a date, and then TO_CHAR? Or can the decimal be directly converted?Sorry, I don't understand. Are you saying that you want to do something like date arithmetic, but instead of using a number like .733409047 (meaning about .73 of a day), you want to pass a string like '17:36:07' (meaning 17 hours, 36 minutes and 7 seconds)? If so, INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND is probably your best bet. (It looks like you're already thinking along these lines.)
    I'm currently trying to understand INTERVAL.
    SQL> select interval '.5' day from dual;
    select interval '.5' day from dual
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01867: the interval is invalid
    So, i'm obviously misunderstanding it. Can it be used here?You can only use integers like that. If you want to use any number, then use date arithmetic to add to (or subtract from) a DATE, or use NUMTIDSINTERVAL to produce an INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND:
    SELECT     NUMTODSINTERVAL (.733409047, 'DAY')     AS intrvl
    FROM     dual;Output:
    INTRVL
    +000000000 17:36:06.541660800
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements), maybe about 5 rows, and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • Is it possible to create a formula that converts a resource hours into full time units in project server 2010

    Hi
    Is it possible to create a formula that converts a resource available hours into full time equivalent units in project server 2010? Say a resource has 160 available hours for any given month this will translate into 1 FTE for this month. If it is 80 hours
    for that month then it will be 0.5 FTE and so on and so forth.
    Thanks,
    -Maurizio

    Maurizio,
    It's a bit late, but there are two OLAP cubes that can provide you with this information in a pivot table in Project Server 2010.
    "MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer" and "Resource Timephased" contains capacity measures that be used to provide calculated measures when the cube database is generated. You change OLAP cube configuration in "Server Settings -> Database Administration -> OLAP
    Database Management". In either of the aforementioned cubes, use "Calculated Measures" to create two measures:
    Member Name
    MDX Expression
    Available (FTE)
    ([capacity]-[work])/[capacity]
    Work (FTE)
    [Work]/[Capacity]
    These two fields will appear in the pivot table field list as "Values", and when combined with a "Time" column, can give you a picture of FTE usage and availability.
    I prefer the portfolio version since it contains project/assignment data and resource data, letting you see just  how resources are being utilized.
    One thing I have not been able to get around is getting ""Maximum Units" for a resource factored into the measure. A common practice is to allocate more that "100%" to generic resources to represent teams for planning purposes. The OLAP measures will show
    only 0.0 to 1.0 FTE for any resource, even if a resource represents more than one body.
    If you have an SSRS query you could share, I would appreciated it!
    Hope this helps!

  • CONVERT TIME IN HOURS INTO STANDARD TIME.

    Hi All,
              I have time in standard time format for Ex. 07:00:00 . And I want to add 4 hours and 30 min into that time. That means after adding my output I want like this 11:30:00. That means time is now 11 pass 30 min 00 seconds.......Plz tell how to do this............
    Regards.

    Hi Pradip,
    you can do it by the way Anji told you.
    I didn't try but guess
    what will be the result of '<b>21:00:00</b>' and '<b>04:30:00</b>'  ?
    Declare variable time1 , time2 and time3...
    Time1 = '21:00:00'.
    Time2 = '04:30:00'
    Time3 = Time1 + Time2.
    write /  Time3 USING EDIT MASK'__:__:__'.
    See the output...
    For getting solution of this problem...
    You should convert the time into SECONDS for both time valuse
    Then add those seconds
    Then again convert it into HH:MM:SS...
    Hope it will help you
    Please correct me if i am wrong.

  • Convert XML string into an abap format date and time

    Hi,
    Does anyone know of a method or a function module in ABAP which converts XML string into an abap format date and time.
    Here is a part of the xml that I want to convert.
    <ns2:EventDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45+10:00</ns2:EventDateTime>
    <ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45.987+10:00</ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>
    Currently EventDateTime and EventMessageTransmissionDateTime are type XSDDATETIME_Z and these are converted to proper dates and times. We will be changing these fields to a STRING instead of XSDDATETIME_Z. The reason for this is to make the field more versatile. The customer would be receiving dates with Zulu (2009-09-23T12:00:00Z), with offsets (2009-09-23T12:00:00+10:00/-10:00) and just local timestamp (2009-09-23T12:00:00). With this, we need to make the date fields as string
    to be able to accept the various date formats (esp. the local timestamp).
    I am looking for a standard function module or method that will convert the xml string to a proper date and time abap format.
    Would appreciate anyone's help!
    Thanks.

  • Convert system time into User local time.

    Hi,
    How to convert System time into User Local time.
    Are there any FMs available.
    Regards,
    Kiran

    hi,
    There is just one simple funda behind the Date and time logic in SAP.
    -> It is absolutely useless to store Date and time directly in DB. Why ?
    Because 00:00 a.m in London could mean 05:30 in India !! So If I (in India) store a Date 1st Feb 2008 , 10:00 a.m .. This time for a person in London could be invalid.. because he is behind your time zone..
    So the solution is to store the date/times in Timestamps format. Taking the above example.. 1st Feb 2008, 10:00 a.m (in India) will be stored as 20080201043000.
    This time if seen in German Time zone will look as : 1st Feb 2008, 05:30 a.m.
    Simple right
    -> In India we store date as DD.MM.YYYY while in other countries they store it as MM.DD.YYYY.
    The separator could be . or - or / .
    The date format is user dependent. I might prefer to store it as DD.MM.YYYY and you might want to store it as MM-DD-YYYY.
    System does not bother what your format is. It always stores in YYYYMMDD (8 Char)
    On screens if you want to display Date then it must always be shown in that users format who is seeing it. How to get this done ?
    DATA : lv_date(10) type c.
    write sy-datum into lv_date.
    So in LV_DATE variable the date will be stores in the users format.
    Simple right
    There are function modules that do the same. But normally we should avoid use of FM to make code simpler, short and easy... no complications at all ..
    You can use system variables sy-datlo (Local Date for Current User) and sy-timlo ( Local Time of Current User ).
    You can also use GET TIME statement.
    reward if useful,
    preet

  • How do I convert time from hours and minutes to decimal time

    I am making a spread sheet a work for payroll. I need to make a formula that converts the time from hours and minutes to decimal time. Please help

    Hi Taryn,
    I can't see much from the photo, but I assume your formula is similar to the one I've used below:
    The same formula is used in F4 and F6, and both return the same result (shown in F4).
    F4 was left on "automatic" cell format, and the column widened to accomodate the repeating decimal to the point where Numbers would begin displaying zeros.
    F6 was formatted as shown in the Cell Inspector to show only two decimal places.
    Neither of these is an "exact" decimal, as it is not possible to use a decimal fraction to "exactly" represent 1/6 (or 10/60).
    The likely reasons for yours showing a whole number of hours is a difference between your formula and the one shown in the example here, or a difference in the number of decimal places set in the cell's format.
    Regards,
    Barry
    PS: To take a screen shot:
    Place the mouse pointer at the top left corner of the area you want to nclude in the shot.
    Press shift-command-4.
    Use the mouse to drag a selection rectangle contining the part of the screen you want to include.
    Release the mouse button. (You'll hear the sound of a camera shutter 'snapping' the picture.)
    The screen shot will be saved to your desktop with the name 'screen shot' followed by the date and time.
    The image may be posted to the discussion using the same steps you used to post the photo above.
