Converting from AZERTY to QWERTY keyboard on Lenovo Z61m

Any ideas on how best to do this?
I can get keyboard stickers but they will look a little tacky or a new laptop keyboard however lenovo's website in Australia doesnt seem to list these parts for sale (The model number I would need is 39T0958)
I have already changed the setting in XP so that it believes that it is a US board
Your thoughts would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum!
Have you tried locating the keyboard that you're looking for on eBay? Z61 shares the keyboard with T6x and R6x units of the same screen size...that shouldn't be much of a problem.
Good luck.

  • Keyboard changed from azerty to qwerty

    I had my Nokia Asha 200 flashed since it started giving problem of conflicting apps: nokia xpress.
    Now its using qwerty keyboard instead of azerty. I have problems getting other letters and symbols since A gives Q, Q gives A, W gives Z, Z gives W, trying to type and gives qnd.
    Help please, its from bad to worse

    The question is whether your Asha 200 has reverted to version of software dictated by seven character alphanumeric product code starting with "0" upon label unber battery or whether incorrect software has been installed upon device by using inappropriate software.
    What I am trying to say is if this Asha 200 was pre-owned before you got it, all may not be what it seems and qwerty keyboard may have been swapped to azerty with appropriate software at some point for resale. When you re-install device software via Nokia Suite it has reverted to it's original "Qwerty" product code.

  • AZERTY to QWERTY Keyboard Conversion

    Hi all
    I have a French MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1211 so the keyboard is AZERTY. I bought a QWERTY keyboard for it and all the connections fitted perfectly but upon boot up, the trackpad now doesn't work and nor does the keyboard. Is it possible to change keyboards in this way or am i stuck with an AZERTY? I've checked connections but all seems fine so I am worried it won't work and I have to go back to the daft AZERTY design.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

    I appreciate the fast response, but how do I do that without the keyboard or trackpad working?
    Connect an external USB keyboard.
    Its a UK keyboard I am changing it to...
    Sorry, didn't notice that. Then that's what you'd select instead of US.

  • Satellite A110-149: Sometimes keyboard changes from AZERTY to QWERTY

    HI, and sorry for my poor English speaking (I'm French and novice at English)
    I have a problem with my laptop: Satellite A110-149, running Windows XP, bought in January 2007.
    Sometimes, for unknown reason, my keyboard (AZERTY) changes to QWERTY, no matter what software I'm using.
    I've upgraded the drivers in the configuration panel, but nothing changes.
    What to do please? How could I repair it?
    Thanks.

    I have only one explanation.
    You have configured the keyboard layout with two different languages.
    By pressing of SHIFT + ALT the OS changes the layout language and the button assignation.
    Maybe during the fast typing you have accidentally activated this key combination and the keyboard layout switched

  • How to enable an apple french (azerty) wireless keyboard to type in french whilst retaining the normal inbuilt qwerty keyboard typing in english?

    Hi there, I recently bought an apple wireless azerty French keyboard to go with my English macbook air, as for my degree I often have to type in French. However, upon connecting it to the macbook air it instantly started typing as though it had the qwerty layout and only by going on system preferences and changing the language & text imput sources to French was I able to get it to type in the correct azerty manner.
    The problem I have is that this also changed my macbook's inbuilt qwerty keyboard to the azerty format, and so I wondered if anyone could tell me how I can make the wireless azerty keyboard instantly be recognised as typing in the french format when I turn it on, whilst retaining my inbuilt keyboard's qwerty layout, rather than constantly having to change them both in system preferences?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    That's not possible.
    But switching keyboard layouts is very simple.  Either use the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen or the keyboard shortcut apple/command plus space.
    If you don't see the ¨flag¨, check the box for Show Input Menu in Menu Bar in the Input Sources pane.
    If the keyboard shortcut doesn´t work, you may have to change the shortcut for Spotlight, which is often the same.

  • Curve 9380: Return from character input to QWERTY keyboard

    Hello,
    I own BlackBerry Curve 9380 smartphone (all touch, without physical keyboard).
    I have the following issue:
    Consider you're writing a text message, when you need a question mark you're tapping on the "&% 123"  button in the left-down corner and selecting the question mark. In order to return back to the original QWERTY keyboard you need to tap on the button again, now "ABC".
    Is that possible to automate the return to the QWERTY keyboard from character input keyboard after tapping the "space" button?
    Keyboard is returning automatically back only if you will tap on the "Enter" button.
    Adding the "space" button would be a great enhancement for touch-based devices featuring BlackBerry 7 OS.
    Thank you.
    P.S. I didn't find any better medium for my concern than this forum, if somebody knows how to reach directly to software engineering group, please let me know.

    You still have the constructor declared inside the main method! :-)
    public class TrySimpleVectorWithKeyboardInput
    public static void main(String[] args)
    public TrySimpleVectorWithKeyboardInput()
    {}Move the two lines to outside the main. It should look something like this..
    import java.util.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class TrySimpleVectorWithKeyboardInput {
        public TrySimpleVectorWithKeyboardInput() {
          // constructor code goes here

  • Changing Keyboard (Hardware) AZERTY to QWERTY

    Hello all,
    I need to know if it is relatively easy to change the keyboard (hardware) on a 17" Macbook Pro (Azerty to Qwerty). And any good sources for buying the the QWERTY keyboard.
    Thanks in advance for any help, Gary

    That's not a user-serviceable part, so you're going to have two problems replacing that keyboard:
    1 - You won't be able to order the part unless you're in GSX.
    2 - You'll probably (but not definitely) void the warranty by replacing it.
    The good news is that you don't have to replace the key-board, you just have to rearrange the key tops and change the input method.
    There's a web-page that explains the process better than I can:
    http://www.chimoosoft.com/dvorak.html
    Just be very, very careful when pulling those keys off.

  • Keyboard- Azerty to Qwerty migration issue

    Hi.
    Have an issue with a qwerty keyboard. I used to have a french azerty keyboard out of which I migrated to my brand new macbook air in an english environment.
    First of, keyboard values are not working properly as even though i switch language input source, several input buttons are not reflecting their values properly.
    Second, in order to solve another issue -keyboard backlight- I was told to act on the F5 and F6 buttons. Didn't work out either.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks.

    Just in case, what model is your macbook air? 2010 models don't have backlit keyboards.
    You can tell what model it is by clicking on the apple at the top left of the screen and "about this mac". If it says Core2Duo processor and you bought it brand new on 2010-11 then it won't have keyboard backlight.

  • On my MacBook Pro, why sometime it sees my "azerty" keyboard as a "qwerty" keyboard?

    I am french, and i have a trouble with my keyboard.
    My MacBook Pro has an"AZERTY" Keyboard. For some apps or online games my keyboard is recognized as an "QWERTY" keyboard.
    But the games or apps want me to play on an "AZERTY" keyboard.
    I think i checked everything :
         - Préférence système > Clavier > Méthodes de saisie
         - Préférence système > Langues et régions
    It is so annoying.
    So please, help me out Thanks a lot.

  • Is there a way to switch from the QWERTY keyboard to the numerical "10-key"?

    I am using my iPad 2 more frequently for my work, and it would be very useful if I could switch the keyboard from the standard QWERTY to the numeric "10-key" orientation for data entry.  Is there an existing feature that can do this?  I would love it to be a feature of the OS, not a specific app.

  • Multiple keyboard layouts... how do I stop it from defaulting to QWERTY?

    I've been working on teaching myself the Dvorak layout. I've even re-arranged the keys on my laptop (which is partly because I LOVE to see people who can't touch-type struggle >:)
    Unfortunately... the OS seems DETERMINED to use the QWERTY layout. Every time I switch apps, it goes back to qwerty as default... and I see no option anywhere to stop this. I could probably remove qwerty layout from the menu... but as I'm learning, this isn't exactly an option. And it's something that should be changeable.
    Is there a way to stop this defaulting behavior, so if I set it to a different layout it'll STAY that way? I'm also working with a few Japanese sets, and it has the same irritating habit, so I can't quickly switch between apps.
    If it remembered what setting that application had, I'd be even happier... but again, I can't find anything to effect this in the least.

    Look, dude, if you've already thought of this, too, then spare me the sarcasm, ignore it and continue waiting for something better to come along.
    But, since no one's been able to help you so far, notwithstanding your pleasant and welcoming demeanor, have you tried the following:
    Select both Dvorak and Qwerty (and whatever else you want) from the input sources in System Preferences > International > Input menu.
    Then click on the Keyboard Shortcuts button, which will take you to the Keyboard Shortcuts section of the Keyboard & Mouse pane.
    Click the black triangle next to "input menu," check the boxes next to "select previous input source" and "select next input source in input menu," and set up easy to remember short cuts for switching back and forth between keyboard layouts. (If you see a yellow triangle next to the shortcuts, you'll have to change the default shortcut to something not already used by an application.)
    Now, before you unload another barrel of sarcasm and urge me to read your post again, please know that I fully realize the foregoing workaround does not do exactly what you want to do, i.e., stop your keyboard from defaulting to Qwerty when you switch applications.
    But, what it does let you do is, when you switch apps. and your keyboard defaults back to Qwerty, then you can easily, with a keystroke or two, switch back the your preferred method of input without having to go to System Preferences and check and uncheck boxes.
    That's the best I've got on this one. If you don't like it for any reason -- such as the keystroke or two being too much work for you -- or for no reason at all for that matter, don't bother letting me know. If you do like it and it works for you, well that's great and that's why I posted.
    Good luck.

  • Will a Qwerty Keyboard cover make my Azerty keyboard fully qwerty?

    A Belgian friend is giving me her old Macbook Air, but I'm wondering if I change the setting on the Mac to Qwerty, will the keys work exactly as a qwerty keyboard?
    e.g. typing A brings out Q, typing M brings out ;

  • How can i disable Illustrator from changing my language / keyboard layout.

    I have an azerty laptop and a qwerty external keyboard. Switching from any application to illustrator changes the language and therefore also my keyboard layout. No other application does this.

    Thanks for the reply Mike
    But i have a laptop with azerty layout (Belgian) and an external qwerty keyboard (Brittish).
    So i need both languages selected in the System Pref >> Keyboard >> Input source
    When "Brittish" is selected and i switch from Apple Mail to Photoshop to Skype to Chrome to ... it all works fine.
    Only when i switch to Illustrator it also changes my language/layout from "Brittish" to "Belgian" and stays like that. I need to manually change it back in the menu in Finder.
    I like the brittish better (with a qwerty keyboard) because of the shortcuts (eg. sqare brackets -> shortcuts for order in Illustrator are not even on an azerty (Belgian) keyboard).
    Any idea?
