Converting from Framemaker 7 to 8

Question

Hello.
I've searched the net and these forums but cant find any help.
We upgraded from FM version 7 to FM version 8. IS there any fast methods to make the documents fm8 instead of FM7 without having to open and save every document?
I guess you can see by my question that Im pretty new with Framemaker, but do I have to expext trouble with my documents when going from 7 to 8, ie. cross references, EDD, DTD?
Does the edd og dtd tell Fm which version im using?

Hello Mr. Steine,
You could try the following:
1. Go to the directory under which all of your FM files reside
2. Do a Windows-Search for ".fm"-Files. Result: one big list of search results of all the .fm files under the mother directory
3. Create an empty book in FM and drag-and-drop all search-results into the book. If you hit "ctrl-A" in the window of search results, you can drag them all at once. Result: You have a book that contains all your FM files.
4. Save the book as FM8.
5. Press Shift and select "File>Open all Files in Book".
6. Press Shift and select "File>Save all Files in Book"
7. Press Shift and select "File>Close all files in Book".
If you have structured documents you need to do the following:
1. Open the edd
2. Save the edd as an FM8 document
3. Before saving the chapter documents as FM as described above you need to import the element defintions from the now-FM8-EDD into all chapter files.
4. Save the chapter files to FM8 as described above.
