Converting layers to table - Mine won't work!

Hi,
In Dreamweaver I first created a template of my website. Using the template I then wanted to create my very first official home page, called index.htm. This is the problem i've got; when I open a blank white Dreamweaver page i go to 'File > New from Template' and then create my index.htm page based on the template of course. So far so good. Within the index.htm page I am trying to convert layers to table but it won't let me click on the 'convert layers to tables' button because its grayed out. My layers definitely do not overlap because within the layers option I have the 'Prevent layer overlap' box ticked.. The weird thing is that if I were in the template and then tried to 'File > Save As' to create my index.htm page this way, it will let me covert layers to table within the index page, however surely by doing it this way the index page would not be updated with any changes that I make within the template as the index page would not technically be based on the template. I hope this makes sense and was wondering if someone could help me with this?
Thanks
Maxi

There is no doctype declared in your pages code.
First you need to open your .dwt template file, switch to code view and change the line below, which is at the start of your pages code:
<html><!-- #BeginTemplate "/Templates/template.dwt" -->
To this:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- #BeginTemplate "/Templates/template.dwt" -->
While still in your .dwt template file locate the opening <body> tag (see below) and insert the opening <div> wrapper tag and inline css directly after it (see below)
<body bgcolor="#E4227C" text="#000000">
<div id="wrapper" style="width: 1000px; margin: 0 auto; position: relative;">
Next scroll to the very bottom of the page and insert the closing </div> wrapper tag (see below)
<div id="Layer15" style="position:absolute; left:44px; top:671px; width:193px; height:18px; z-index:16"><img src="Templates/linebreak.jpg" width="910" height="20"></div>
</div><!-- closing wrapper tag -->
</body>
</html>
Thats it. If you follow the instrcutions correctly your page will now center horizontally in the brower window.

  • My mini won't work

    My mini has suddenly stopped working. It crashed this morning and now everytime I turn it on, I get a screen that says the computer needs to restart.
    I have reset the PMU and also tried to start the computer from the system DVD but it won't work.
    I was having trouble earlier in the week and had to do many restarts using the CD and had it do repairs. I seemed to be working better but some of the programs wouldn't run.
    Fortunately, we have another mac so I can post this but I was hoping someone might have a suggestion to what is wrong.
    We don't have a Mac keyboard for this but rather a wireless Kensington if that makes a difference. The computer I'm using now is an iBook.
    Thanks

    Hey there
    I had the same problem with mine and it was because of an external firewire audio interface. So the only thing I can think of, is if you have something firewire with wrong drivers or something. Hope you can figure it out.

  • My iPad mini won't work at room temperature.  I have to warm it up in my hands/arms for 2-3 minutes before the screen works correctly.  Anyone else have this issue or know a solution?

    Two or three weeks ago, I had a cracked screen replaced on my iPad Mini 2 with retina display (32G).  It worked perfectly for 2-3 weeks, so I don't know how relevant the screen repair is.  Anyway, the iPad is currently running iOS 8.1.3.  I completely reset it because I want to sell it, but recently, the screen display started to have issues.  One afternoon I turned it on and the screen was a faint gray with vertical streaks that went away after I turned it off then back on.  That night, the screen would stay black when I tried to turn it on.  It was a different black to being off, though.  When I try to turn it on it changes to a brighter black, if that makes sense.  I can see a change in the shade of black, but there's no color or app icons.  The sound works even when the screen doesn't.  The only way I can get it to turn on properly is if I hold it in my hands/arms for 2-3 minutes.  I think the heat from my hands has something to do with it.  It's just weird that regular room temperature seems to be too cold.  We've had a cold winter in NY this year and my iPad may have spent 1-2 hours in my cold car the day this happened, but I can't say for sure.  Has anyone else heard of this issue or does anyone have a solution?

    I Also have this problem!!
    In my situation, the screen simply started exhibiting the same symptoms a few weeks ago (early February) for no apparent reason.  At first I thought the screen was dead, but discovered the heat solution by accident.  Now I turn it on and keep it from going to sleep until I go to bed.  Thank goodness the battery is still awesome on this thing.
    I bought it new and still has the original screen, I keep it at home (never below 62 degrees).  Coincidentally, this happened a day or two after the expiration of the warranty!!  Any help figuring this one out would be eternally appreciated.

  • 1st Gen iPod Mini won't work with new version iTrip

    Hello all,
    I cannot get my new iTrip (which connects to the bottom of the iPod) to work with my girlfriends iPod mini 1st generation. The new iTrip works fine on my video iPod but not on her mini.
    We had the original iTrip and that worked fine but nothing is happening at all when the music is playing and the iTrip is connected. Anything i need to do or install to get this working? I have tried to search the discussions but failed to find a similar problem.
    Any help or info will be much appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    Ah, i seemed to have fixed it! Well i've been trying for a few weeks now to sort this out and as soon as i put up a post it works. Oh well at least its working now. It seems like that the iPod needs to be playing BEFORE the iTrip is plugged in the turn it on.
    I'll get me coat...

  • Daughter gets ipod - now mine won't work

    Hi,
    My daughter's ipod came today. I hooked her ipod into the computer and got the only movie and the music she wanted onto her ipod. Problem is, my ipod won't do anything now. I had 2900 songs on mine. I have had to restore it, which means losing everything. Now all the songs have an exclamation point next to them and I can't copy the only movie over either. What happened? It is brand new. My christmas present to myself. Do I need to take it in or call customer service? And if customer service, what is the number?
    Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey!
    Tom's correct about the "!" mark.This means iTunes can't locate the file/s to use.You need to do a search onf your Hard drive to find out where they are(hopefully all in on place!).

  • My ipod nano (3rd generation) won't sync to my computer anymore. I share the computer with other family members and there ipod's sync fine to their iTunes, but mine won't work. How do I fix it? :)

    .

    Why won't it sync anymore? Does iTunes still see the device? If so, are you getting any error message during the sync process?  Need a bit more detail in order to assist you.

  • Install fails? Mac Mini won't work??

    I partitioned my Mac Mini, giving it 15GB of space. Went into install and I get:
    Setup is inspecting your hardware configuration_
    for maybe a second. Then I have a black screen. Anything particular I'm doing wrong? I've heard that you may need an Apple Cinema Display to install Boot Camp on the mini... true?

  • My volume won't work on my iPad mini

    My volume on my iPad mini won't work when I play it out loud or with my head phones it first started when my volume on snapchat wasn't working I have tried
    turning it all the way of that didn't help what can I do

    Try a PRAM reset:
    If no success, look in the audio output port.  If there is a red light, the internal switch is stuck.  Insert the headphione jack a few times and see if that will trip the switch.
    Ciao.

  • Game sound won't work on ipad mini and iphone 5

    Game sound on my iphone 5 and Ipad mini won't work.
    I can fix the problem on my ipad mini buy going to:  Setting > General > Lock Rotation (turning on lock rotation which turns off mute).  But this unfortunately also locks my orientation into landscape.  Surely there is a way to enable sound for games and yet not rotation.
    And on my iphone I have no idea how to fix it.  There isn't the option to unmute anything in settings that I can see.
    Btw, I'm running the latest ios in both my ipad and iphone  (which is ios 7.0.4).
    Does anyone have an idea how to remedy this situation in both my devices?  Thank you in advance!

  • Serial won't work in 9.0.1??

    Hey guys,
    Just downloaded the update for Logic 9.0.1. For some reason, it's asking for a serial number and mine won't work!
    I can't fully remember, but I'm fairly sure I didn't have to put one in when upgrading from 8 - 9. I've been using it since the days of version 7. Do you think it could be because I was using the dongle before? Unfortunately, this is something I can't currently find anywhere!

    For the L8 upgrade you needed your dongle and the serial of the upgrade.
    I do not have L9 but I guess its the same. You should find the serial in the printed Logic "Installing your software" manual.

  • Help please. Extended display won't work on MBP and AOC 20" 1600 x 900  60HZ monitor. Mirror display does. I've a mini dvd to vga converter cable. Should this work?

    Help please. Extended display won't work on MBP and AOC 20" 1600 x 900  60HZ monitor. Mirror display does. I've a mini dvd to vga converter cable. Should this work?

    I have the same mini display port adapter and Belkin DVI-HDMI cable (but a Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV) so just set this up on it to see if I could duplicate your problem, unfortunately for you (but good for me) I can't.
    I connected the adapter+HDMI cable before switching the HDTV on and then powered up the MBP. It (the HDTV) came up with my background right away (it's set at Mirror not extended Desktop) and when I run System Preferences/Displays get the following. Sorry but all I can confirm is that adapter+cable combination should work ...
    Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down command/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys?

  • My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter.

    My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter. I also tried the HDMI to DVI adapter ane the Mac-Mini with same result. The monitor does work on my older Macbook Pro that has the DVI connector. Is it a Software/Driver issue ?

    Should be extremely simple, please carefully read Connect multiple displays to your Mac. If you still have problems then it's probably a cable issue that would be resolved by replacing the adapter cable. You should be using this adapter. If you are using a third party adapter that might be your problem!

    My iPod touch isn't being recognized by my pc. The lock button on it won't work due to water damage, and a friend of mine fixed the problem by restoring it on his computer. How do I restore it without the lock button?

    first try:
    iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    next
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
