Converting XML as table to XML as string

All,
I am successfully able to convert XML table from Internal Table. Now, I would like to convert this XML Table into XML string.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

Howdy,
CONCATENATE LINES OF lt_table into l_string SEPARATED BY cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
This will create a string of the lines of the internal table with a carriage return after each line.
Cheers
Alex

• How can I convert IDoc in XML format w/DTD into a string?

I want to send by e-mail outbound IDoc in XML format with its document type definition (DTD).
I want to be able to get the same output result into a string than the XML file IDoc port type with DTD activated. I have created a FM (based on SAP "OWN_FUNCTION") assigned to an IDoc port of type ABAP-PI that executes the following processing steps:
1-Extract outbound IDoc information to get the sender & recipient mail addresses (EDP13 / EDIPHONE tables).
2-Convert & Transform IDoc data into XML string using FM IDX_IDOC_TO_XML.
3-Prepare and send e-mail with XML attachement using FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
I cand generate the e-mail with the XML file attachement but FM IDX_IDOC_TO_XML does not convert the IDoc with proper formating and DTD.
What should I use to accomplish the IDoc conversion to XML w/DTD into a string?
Should I use XSLT tools ?
How does that work?
Thank you

Use decimal string to number
Specifically, you can define a constant with a different datatype on the input on the lower left if you need a different datatype (e.g. U8, I64, DBL, etc) Are all your values integers or do you also need to scan fractional numbers? In this case, you should use "fract/exp string to number" instead.

• [CS3][VBS]Converting a CALS table to Indesign table in XML

Hi!

I have an xml-file with tables that I want to import into Indesign. It works fine when I use the Import CALS tables as Indesign tables in "Import options", but the problem is when I do this some emphasis elements inside the "entry" elements isn't found when I try to use XMLRules to format the emphasis elements in the document...
The structure of the table can be like this (in general):
Tabell
table
tblgrp
tbody
row

Some text...<emp Type = "bold">bold text</emp>

Some text

some text

row
tbody
tblgrp
table
Tabell

When I import the Table as CALS tables to Indesign tables, the table structure is collapsed into just a <Tabell> element. I assume this is the reason why the <emp> element isn't found.

I try to solve this by NOT importing CALS tables to Indesign tables. I see then that the whole table structure is intact in the structure panel and the <emp> elements are also found by the XMLRules, but the contents is not put inside a table in the indesign document. To put the table elements into a table in Indesign I use the Command: "ConvertElementToTable" but this doesnt work very well. I use it in XMLRules like this:

Public Property Get xpath()
xpath = "//Tabell"
End Property

Public Function apply(myXMLElement, myRuleProcessor)
With myXMLElement
.ConvertElementToTable "row", "entry"
End With
apply = False
End Function

Does anyone have any experience of importing XML-tables in Indesign and formatting them? I could really need some to put the xml table into Indesign tables...Please help!

In advance thanks!

Hi!
Just check the checkbox "Import CALS tables as Indesign tables" in the XML import options dialogbox. Then it should go automatically.
The problem with this approach is that the entire table structure is collapsed to a single table element in the struture. If one want to do some xml-prosessing at row or cell level one need to to this outside indesign or not import CALS as Indesign tables. The big question is if there is some easy way to convert a CALS table to an Indesign table inside Indesign after one have imported the data and prosessed the row and cell elements...
Hope anyone knows more than me about this....
Anyway, mkarthic, I hope my answer helped you to import your CALS tables!:-)
Greetings

• Convert an internal table from ABAP to an xml file on the Unix server

I'm trying to convert an internal table to an xml file. This file will be downloaded to a unix server. Can someone help?

Hello Linda,
You can combine the code given by Mahalakshmi with something like this:
CALL FUNCTION 'FILE_GET_NAME'
EXPORTING
logical_filename = 'YOUR_LOGICAL_FILE_NAME
parameter_1      = l_file_name_xml
IMPORTING
file_name        = l_file_server
EXCEPTIONS
file_not_found   = 1
OTHERS           = 2.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
TRY.
OPEN DATASET l_file_server FOR OUTPUT. "<IN TEXT MODE> <ENCODING DEFAULT>.
ENDTRY.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
LOOP AT lt_xml INTO ls_xml.
TRANSFER ls_xml TO l_file_server.
ENDLOOP.
CLOSE DATASET l_file_server.
ENDIF.
ENDIF.
You need to have the server path defined (look at the paths with tcode AL11) and the file logical name with tcode FILE

Hi,
Here is a small sample program to convert data in an internal table into XML format and display it.
DATA: itab TYPE TABLE OF spfli,
l_xml TYPE REF TO cl_xml_document.
* Read data into a ITAB
SELECT * FROM spfli INTO TABLE itab.
* Create the XML Object
CREATE OBJECT l_xml.
* Convert data in ITAB to XML
CALL METHOD l_xml->create_with_data( name = 'Test1'

• Internal table to XML data in Application Server

Dear Experts,
I have converted the internal table data into XML format using CL_XML_DOCUMENT class and CREATE_WITH_DATA - method. Here I have to upload this XML converted file in the given application server path. Kindly suggest me some methods or class, other options to do this.
I need to upload the XML file in to specified application server path. Kindly give some ideas.
Regards,
Sakthi

I guess you want to transfer XML document type ref to IF_IXML_DOCUMENT (which is instantiated with this method and stored in attribute M_DOCUMENT ) to a file on application server. Is that right?
If so please refer below program you should get the idea
DATA: gr_ixml TYPE REF TO if_ixml,
gr_ixml_doc TYPE REF TO if_ixml_document.
gr_ixml = cl_ixml=>create( ).
"here you have the same kind of XML document
"as the one created with method CREATE_WITH_DATA
gr_ixml_doc = gr_ixml->create_document( ).
DATA gr_ixml_element TYPE REF TO if_ixml_element.
CALL METHOD gr_ixml_doc->create_element

DATA gr_encoding TYPE REF TO if_ixml_encoding.
g_stream_factory = gr_ixml->create_stream_factory( ).
gr_encoding = gr_ixml->create_encoding( byte_order = 0
character_set = 'UTF-8' ).
DATA b_xml TYPE xstring.
DATA gr_ostream TYPE REF TO if_ixml_ostream.
gr_ostream = g_stream_factory->create_ostream_xstring( b_xml ).
CALL METHOD gr_ostream->set_encoding

• Converting Standard Oracle Report to XML for excel output

I have gone through the steps of copying a concurrent program for a standard report to a new program, changed the output format to xml, ran the new concurrent job, saved the output as a .xml, then using the xml publisher template builder for word (Oracle Patch 5887917) tried to modify record information so each record will be on the same line in an Excel format. I tried de-normalising the hierarchy using the ../.. syntax to traverse up the hierarchy but only the data at the lowest level displays. Has anyone else run into this issue or have any ideas on how I can fix it.

Please help me where I am making mistake.
Thanks

1) I have created single node standard database called mydb in /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 home (hostname linux1)
2) installed crs and asm on linux1 and linux2 and shared storag on ASM(which external HD running ieee1294 cards and ports) . no database is created on linux1 or linux2
3) I want to convert mydb to RAC DATABASE called mydb1 instance on linux1 and mydb2 on linux2 machine respectively.
4) copied and modifed xml as you see above called ConvertTomydb.xml to $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory
5) when I run
$rconfig ConvertTomydb.xml from $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory , i get the following error
<ConvertToRAC>

• XSLT Mapping to convert u201C.CSVu201D file into XML Structure.

Hi All,
I wanted to know can we use XSLT Mapping to convert u201C.CSVu201D file into XML Structure.
I am communicating between two XI Systems. First XI system is going to give u201C.CSVu201D file as main document. I need to post IDOC Corresponding to this. So what I want to do is read this u201C.CSVu201D file (Main document in payload) and first convet it into XML and then use second mapping which will convert XML to IDOC.
I know this is possible with JAVA Mapping but just wanted to confirm can we do this with XSLT mapping as well?
Regards,
Gouri

Hi Amit,
I know this way it shd work as i am able see other XSLT files. But this particular file is not visible.
I am copying following code only in sample.xslt file.

• Writing from internal table to xml format

Hi,
I searched all the forum and I have a question on writing the data from internal table in xml format to the file on app.server.
Data: ITAB1 TYPE TABLE OF SPFLI,
L_XML  TYPE REF TO CL_XML_DOCUMENT.
SELECT * FROM SPFLI INTO TABLE ITAB1.
CREATE THE XML OBJECT
CREATE OBJECT L_XML.
CONVERT THE DATA TO XML
CALL METHOD L_XML->CREATE_WITH_DATA( DATAOBJECT = ITAB1[] ).
after this how to move the XML data in the object to a file on app.server.
Thanks

p_ufile is the path of the application server
p_output is the internal table with data to be moved to app serv.
OPEN DATASET p_ufile FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE.
LOOP AT p_output INTO wa_file.
TRANSFER wa_file TO p_ufile.
CLEAR wa_file.
ENDLOOP.
CLOSE DATASET p_ufile.
for XML I guees the path p_ufile ill be sap/usr/tmp/file.xml

• Converting Java.util date to XML date in format YYYY-MMM-dd

I'm using below code to convert java.util.date to XML date
public static XMLGregorianCalendar toXMLDate(Date dte) {
try {
// this may throw DatatypeConfigurationException
DatatypeFactory datatypeFactory = DatatypeFactory.newInstance();
GregorianCalendar calendar = new GregorianCalendar();
// reset all fields
calendar.clear();
Calendar parsedCalendar = Calendar.getInstance();
parsedCalendar.setTime(dte);
calendar.set( parsedCalendar.get(Calendar.YEAR ),
parsedCalendar.get(Calendar.MONTH),
parsedCalendar.get(Calendar.DATE ));
XMLGregorianCalendar xmlCalendar = datatypeFactory.newXMLGregorianCalendar( calendar );
xmlCalendar.setTimezone( DatatypeConstants.FIELD_UNDEFINED );
xmlCalendar.setFractionalSecond( null );
return xmlCalendar;
I need to get the date in the format YYYY-MMM-dd, but it returns in a format YYYY-MM-dd. Can anyone tell me how can i change the format? Thanks

The snippet of ApplicationClient where the assignment took place and the syntax occurred were:
1. DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
2. DateFormat timeFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("HH:mm:ss");
3. Date date = new Date();
4. CustomerDetail customerDetail = new CustomerDetail();
5. customerDetail.setCollectionDate(dateFormat.format(date)); //got the above syntax error
6. customerDetail.setCollectionTime(timeFormat.format(date)); //got the above syntax error
.....I am running JDK 1.6.0_10, Glassfish v2r2, MySQL 5.0, Netbeans 6.1 on Windows XP platform.The format method returns a String not a Date. Why not just store the Date as is without formatting, and format it when you want to retrieve it from the DB and display it?
