Coordinate Plane?

Hello!
I am trying to graph Sin & Cos functions using numbers. So far, all has gone smoothly. I have used a scatter plot with curved connections to connect the points.
However, I have one (mostly ascetic) issue. When the graph appears the is no clearly indicated X and Y axis. For example, where 0 lies on the y-axis, a bolded line would usually take place of the thinner lines which otherwise carry the graph (and likewise on the x-axis). Is there any setting which would force the graph to clearly discern the X and Y axis?

Correction: The first Numbers version had a Scatter Chart option, but it was of limited utility because it had no option to connect the data points with lines. This was such a source of dissatisfaction to the users that I guess subconsciously I see Numbers 09 as giving real life to the Scatter Chart. The point I was trying to make is that Numbers is on the steep part of the growth curve and we should be kind to the developers as they incorporate feedback to improve the product in stages.

    I don't know about GroupLayout, but with normal layout managers, you
    either override getPreferredSize (and perhaps getMinimumSize and getMaximumSize) or call the corresponding get* methods. I never call setSize, because that is called by proper layout managers on you behalf:

  • Making sub-programs with picture objects

    Hello all,
    I'm a mentor for a FRC Robotics Team. For the summer, I want to try to make a VI that is able to create sub-programs for the autonomous period. Basically, there would be this canvas that the user could move the "robot" (aka rectangle) around, and it would record its movements and "translate" them into "motor code".
    For instance: I want my robot to go straight for about 3 feet, rotate 90 degrees clockwise, and go another 3 feet. I would take the rectangle, drag it up an equivalent 3 feet (maybe using a grid pattern to show 0.5 feet increments), rotate the rectangle 90 degrees clockwise, then drag it another 3 feet.
    This is the big picture. Right now, I want to know if it's possible to have a user drag a picture (such as a rectangle) and have the program where it is on a coordinate plane.

    Whenever I hear someone ask, "Can LabVIEW..." I always say yes, regardless of what comes next. In the the case of your requirement, there is (or at least was) an example in one of the lower-level training classes that did most is what you want.
    The point of the exercise was to teach saving binary data, but to generate the data (this is the bit that will be interesting to you) they created a little drawing program using mouse events on a 2D picture control.
    So, yes, what you want to do is very doable, my sense though is that it is one of those projects that would take a couple hours to create a working prototype, but you could play with tweaking for months...

  • Plotting on a grid

    ok so here's a ? I need to plot things according to there coordinates (x,y) on a map it won't always be the same map...how can i get a map that is a .jpg image to be seen as a coordinate plane? any suggestions would be great

    Changes to the native behaviour of LV objects is seldom simple. If I was forced to do this I would try to take advantage of the background image that is now available in LV 8.+
    So maybe two graphs.
    1) only has your plots.
    2) Use the image from #1 and slips itno its background leaving the grid lines on top.
    Boy would that be a lot of work to make it work, particularly if you wanted to maint zooming, auto-scales and plot properties!

  • ImageIcon Array and a JLabel

    I have an ImageIcon arrary and JLabel called ImageLabel on which the ImageIcon is. Bascically I want it to do this: if the ImageIcon on the ImageLabel is a certain icon, say [0] and the click was < 200, then set the ImageIcon to [1] (in effect changing what image is shown on the ImageLabel). And vice versa, as demonstrated by the following code:

    Thank you for your reply. I tried using the code, however, I am unsure as to how to use a 2D array.
    I think it may help if I elaborate on what I need to do:
    I have 80 images, and would like each image to be assigned to a coordinate, such as 1,1 on a coordinate
    plane that is 16 wide by 23 high. My first idea would be that you will need (16 * 23) = 368 images, not 80.
    By having each image as an integer, I could then set it to load another image when clicked.
    For instance I want the program to load with the image set to 1,1 (this image
    would be "images/1-1.gif".)
    Now, since you are on 1,1 and click on a certain area of the image, it loads 2,1 (that co ordinate having the image "images/2-1.gif". If you click on a different part of the 1,1 image, it would load 3,1 ("images/3-1.gif). etc.
    Sorry to say it, but you're still unclear on your goal: will you be only displaying one image at a time ? Do you expect 1 image
    to represent each of the (16 * 23) coordinates ? Do you mean that the label will change location depending on the mouse clicks ?
    Whatever your objective is, I don't see what is incompatible with the code I suggested in my previous reply.

  • Applying Textures to an IndexedTriangleStripArray

    I' m not able to assign the right indices to the vertex- and texturecoordinates in the Array.

  • How to coordinate Load Plan Asynchronous Steps?

    How does one start a subsequent sequential step depending on the successful completion of two or more prior asynchronous steps.
    1. Wait for the posting of multiple 'successful' completion step variables?
    2. Or does the [successful] completion of all asynchronous Child Steps "terminate successfully" a synchronous Parent Step, so a subsequent [to the Parent]sequential step can start?
    Experience tells me once an asynchronous step starts, a subsequent synchronous step (in the same Parent) starts immediately thereafter.
    What I want to do: asynchronously collect data from multiple sources and once successfully collected, synchronously start an update process.

    You can do that in a package. You will have to use odiWaitForChild tool.
    Scen1(async) -> Scen2(async) -> Scen3(async) -> odiWaitForChild -> startUpdateProcess
    In Load Plans you can do the same.
    Create a load plan with 2 serial steps on the root. Step 1 and Step 2.
    Inside Step 1, create 3 parallel steps.

  • How to get Coordinates of edges from image into excel

    Hi,
    I am new to labview and I am doing a project in which i move an XY stage under a laser to etch pictures.  So far I have managed to get the stage to move by reading off coordinates from an excel spread sheet and so can draw pictures if I have the coordinates.
     I am trying to use the vision module to be able to put any image in and then find the edges, get the coordinates of the edge and so draw the image.  Using the vision assistant I do colour plane extraction (to make greyscale) then use shape detection looking for lines with a small minimum length, this gets the information i want and if i click the button on the right that says send data to excell i get a spread sheet with all the information i need.  However, I cant get it to automatically save to excell (the write to spread sheet function doesnt work as "The type of the source is 1-D array of cluster of 5 elements."
    It would probably be bettter if i could use the output of the vision assistant (shape detection) straight away without having to save to excell but I cannot extract the information i need from the output as none of the array/cluster functions seem compatible with the data.  I am using labview 10 and have attached my VI below any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It seems your having trouble getting to the information in the output of your Vision Assistant. You can use Context Help (Ctrl+H to show) to help understand the contents of a large array or cluster when you hover your mouse over the wire (see below).
    Looking at the above I created the code below which breaks out all the contents of one item in the array.
    Here I use the Index Array function to break out one element of the array. Each element is a circle descriptor, cluster of 5 elements so I use the Unbundle by Name function to access each of the values in the cluster

    Could possibly have retrieved my DroidX and friend's IPod Touch if they'd been more forthcoming. Instead, looks like they are just trying to sell more phones on the backs of petty thieves.

    While you do make a good point, it's not quite the Black Helicopter scenario you'd like to think it is....(But since it's a popular pastime to make Evil conjecture about those that think differently than we do, go ahead and indulge yourself....)
    It is Verizon's policy to NOT officially support the 3rd party apps available in the various App Markets. Part of that is to absolve themselves of the liability brought on by bad apps causing havoc on your phone (they do exist, I know). The other part is to not show certain favoritisms to various app developers, of which there are thousands. Hell, for a long time, that's why AT&T (if I understand what I read a whikle back) didn't carry Android phones because they didn't want to allow 3rd party apps on their phones. I don't know Apple's official policy on apps for the i-Whatevers, but Apple does vet out the app they allow pretty seriously. 
    At least, this is how I have interpreted the various explanations on the subject.
    Right or wrong, there's your answers (among others). And I do agree with your point. It would help us locate a certain grandson's missing Samsung phone at the moment...

    Hi Microsoft Excel Power Map program team!
    I looked @ your Excel Power Map program add on, and it’s great.
    However everyone is looking for the ability for the user to create polygon (boundary) maps.
    It should not be that hard to add this functionality onto such a great map program you already have.
    For example: let’s say one has 10 latitude & longitude coordinates and he wants to see the polygon (boundary) of them on your great map. One should be able to just put those 10 latitude & longitude coordinates in an Excel sheet, fire up your Power
    Map, select that it should be plotted as a polygon (boundary) and it will display on the map.
    Does Microsoft have any plans to add user polygon (boundary) map creation ability to your great Excel Power Map program?
    I would also like to see Excel Power map have USA census tracts built into it just like is has USA zip codes built into it. Census data is also very important as thousands and thousands of people need to display polygon (boundary) for census tracts.

  • No 3D Photoshop CC 2014 Photography Plan

    i cannot use my 3D which i really need right now and this sucks.
    i look in the 3D section of preference and where GPU should be says to use processors which is checked already.
    now beside it says how much it will use of VRAM that is at 376. I read that its not that setting that needs to be at 512mb to work. it says just under the options that its only the number photoshop will use and less = slower.
    i've used 3D in other programs on my laptop but can't in CC.  i know in photography program the typekit fonts are only a trial version. Could it be the same for 3D?
    do i need to get the single app plan for it to work? i downloaded the actions and scripts on adobe and put it in the presets with no luck.
    I use a toshiba win 7 AMD Radeon graphics card (can't find my screenshots when i hit function and capture.don't know where they go so i'll just write what i see in settings.)

    **For a while i've been saying i need a new laptop since i started with photoshop but if you dare say that is my only resolution for 3D im jumping of the couch head first on the laptop.
    Can i install external cards on a laptop???
    Will i be able to use 3D. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    The 512 MB are a minimum requirement, not some optional thing. Without it, 3D will never work.

  • Why is Vanishing Point filter in the latest Photoshop CC creating PNGs that do not match the planes?

    Hi Everyone,
    I've scoured the forums, as well as external sites, but not finding a solution.
    Tried tech support, their ideas didn't pan out. Would greatly appreciate some guidance.
    Every time I try to use VPE, the resulting mesh is fine (the dxf), but the PNGs
    do not match the drawn planes at all. 
    For example, I'll use a file from wikimedia. (all images re-compressed for the forum)
    I draw the right wall, make sure it is blue, then pull the floor.
    Pull the floor and the left wall.
    Pull the back ground (hard to see in the compressed image, but it is there).
    Pull the ceiling.
    The completed planes.  Right wall was drawn, remaining were each
    pulled out the of the previous plane.  All blue.  Entire image is covered.
    Importing the VPE into After Effects CC.  Note the wonky textures.
    Here are the actual textures (original PNGs compressed into JPEG for posting).
    This is the background piece, note how the section of the image doesn't align at
    all with the plane I drew.
    Hope this issue is clear to all.  The mesh looks fine to me, just the PNGs are off.
    I've successfully used the Vanishing Point filter extensively in previous versions of Photoshop. 
    I'm currently using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.8.4 running on a 15" PowerBook Retina.
    I've tried the following to no avail:
    differing JPEGs
    drawing the floor first
    drawing the first surface counter-clockwise and clockwise : )
    ensured all planes are blue
    disabled graphics acceleration under prefererences
    completed uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled with clean performance/preference settings (did not import any previous settings).removed the "Adobe Photoshop CC Settings" folder as well.
    Tried exporting a DXF, again mesh looks great, textures are wrong.
    Ideas are appreciated because right now, I'm stuck : )

    GOT IT!!!!
    After we eliminated Adobe settings, and the software, I started wondering what's outside that could be affecting VPE.
    It's the resolution of the screen!  I have a MBP Retina.
    Using SetResX, I cranked the resolution of my screen from the default retina 1440 x 900 to the hardware's native res of 2880 x 1800.
    THIS FIXED IT.
    The resulting PNGs from the export perfectly match the planes (DXF Mesh).
    So, I'm asserting that there may be a bug in the current release of PS CC where it is not compatible with the default retina resolution on the MacBook Pro.

  • Exporting line end point coordinates?

    Hi,
    I'm in desperate need of a script to export the coordinates of lines, or paths, it doesn't really matter, into a text document.
    I've set my ruler up so the 0,0 is in the center of the image, because I need both 0,0 and -0,-0 to work for what I have in mind, basically using a document as a large Cartesian grid, which you can then extract coordinates of 'edges' or end points of lines from.
    A little background on why I need it, for anyone curious. I figured out a way to build new worlds/maps for a game that generates terrain based on 'boundaries', which are drawn on, in a 2d plane, but I need coordinates to map these boundaries correctly. I could do it manually, where I'd hover my mouse over every edge or end of the line point, but this would save a LOT of time.
    I'd be insanely grateful if anyone can help me out. I've tried looking for scripts or other software, but haven't been successful at all for what I really need.
    The way I have my document setup is, 1 pixel per cm, 16384x16384cm. It's quite large, so most 'graph' software won't work for it. The grid itself works fairly well, I just need a decent way to export the coordinates from it.

    Don't appologize, I was stuck on cm because I thought there wasn't another way, I only figured out after JJMack mentioned it, that it's possible purely by pixels.
    First time working with coordinates, I'm in total new territory.
    The above works great, except now I've stumbled across 2 new problems, sorry to make it so complicated!
    What I have now, slightly tweaked what you gave me:

    Which made me realize, that the paths aren't bound to a layer (It's been a while since I've used paths), so it'll just use the Background layer. There is no way around that, right? Since this script only targets layers, it'll ignore path names, which brings me to another question, is it possible to use the same thing, only for saved paths? So if you had 2 paths, one named P1 and the other P2, that it would display it like:
    P1     4222,0
    P1     2963,-3550
    P1     4330,-4210
    P1     6450.3937,-2459
    P2     6141,2387
    P2     4834,2891
    P2     3970,924
    And the other thing, because I'm using a loop now, which basically repeats the \r after ever coordinate, there isn't a way to collect all coordinates and display them in a chain, basically, and then using the \r after all the coordinates for one path is exported, before it moves on to the next path, or? Basically like the post previous to this, except with paths, instead of layers.
