Coordinate Text Box Size

I have a set of pairs of text boxes (one for medication name, one for that medication's dose). If the user enters text on multiple lines in a given text box, the text box expands to accomodate.
However, the corresponding text box in the pair does not expand.
How can I ensure that each pair of text boxes always retain the same height?

That's probably a sound solution, but let me throw a wrench in there: I have a really large form that uses positioned cells. Is there any way to automate the conversion of groups of cells to a table, such that I don't have to build the whole thing from scratch (which would take hours and hours and hours)?
I should mention that the form is derived from a microsoft word document, which did use tables, but I'd rather not go through the importation process again if I can help it.
Thanks for the help

  • 30EA3 - Edit Table/Create Table(Advanced) - Table Name, Text Box Size

I am not sure if its the same on non-Linux versions, but in the edit table dialog, the table name text box size is tiny. Its only wide enough that you can see approx 7 chars.
Is it possible to increase this? The size of the text box in the simple create table dialog seems like a good size. As far as I can tell, it is not tiny to conserve space for other items.
Anyway, it's just a minor issue that wont prevent me from doing work - just think it'd be better a bit bigger. I am sure it didn't used to be this small.

  • How do you set default fonts and default text box sizes on bound form fields?

I am using an existing PDF as a template to build my form in designer.
I am dragging my objects from the schema window to the form and when I drop it on the form it is way too big - so for every field I do this with I am left to resize and reset the font to every bound object i drop on the page!
Is there a way to set the default font and the default dimensions of the bound text boxes I am droping on the PDF form page?
Thanks to anyone who can help!

iWork '09 DVD set (containing Pages '09 v4.0, Numbers '09 v2.0, and Keynote '09 v5.0) is available from Amazon for USD $20. Apple no longer provides retail store, or OS X App Store downloads. You will need to apply the Apple iWork 9.3 updater afterwards to bring these applications to their n.3 (e.g. Pages '09 v4.3) last versions. You will have an /Applications/iWork '09 folder afterwards.
I would also launch /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utilities, select your boot drive, and verify/repair permissions — just to be on the safe side for the newly added iWork '09 applicaitons.

  • Does a text box for an ebook have to be the exact size?

I'm using Indesign to create an ebook. The usable, non-bordered area of each page is 800 x 600.
For each page I use the Type Tool button to allow me to create a text box that fills the page area of 800 x600 pixels. I go to great effort to make sure it is aligned perfectly and exactly the right size. I have slight muscular problems in my hands which makes them unsteady so I sometimes don't draw the box exactly the same size and have to undo it and start again a few times. It would be easier for me if I didn't have to be so precise.
My question is if I used the Type Tool to draw a Text box that is bigger than the 800x600 page would this have repurcussions in how the ebook functions or displays or does it not make any difference?

I've not been using Master Pages.
I'm using Indesign to create an ebook which I will output an epub file.
I set the page dimensions then I have been adding a page as I progress and then using the Type Tool to create a text box for each new page.
So when you say 'ePub has no exact size predefined by the layouter it is like xhtml.' does this mean the text box size doesn't matter?

  • When I Change The Size Of A Text Box/Menu Widget, Other Objects Move According To It. How Do I Make It Stop?

How do I make it stop happening?

    Hi LP700CR7,
This is a default behavior, I am afraid, its not possible to stop this behavior at this stage within Muse.

  • How to change the size of the text box in "Notes"

    Dear All,
I am trying to change the text box size of that is used in the Notes section. Currently the displayed size features 5 rows, I want to increase it.
I tried to increase the starting and ending Row numbers in the UI configuration, but it still stays the same size!
Anyone know how to resolve this problem, we really need it !
    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Rohit L.

FYI: We were able to resolve the issue by changing the GETTER-method of the attribute LINES in the component GSTEXT:
    method GET_P_LINES.
      CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
          rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>FIELD_TYPE_TEXTAREA.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_textarea_rows.
          rv_value = 16.
      ENDCASE.
    endmethod.
    Hi Gerd,
    could you resolve your issue?
We try to do the same and just adding "rows" does not work for us either.
    Thanks and regards,
    Stefan

  • Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?

Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?
I use the Tools > Annotate > Add Text feature, and when I click away after adding text, it automatically changes the text box size such that the last letter -- or last word -- gets bumped off into an invisible line below it, forcing me to manually adjust every single text box. It is highly annoying when trying to complete PDF forms (e.g. job applications).
It appears to be a glitch, quite honestly, an error resulting from Apple's product design. Has it been fixed in the new operating system (for which they want $30)?
I would very much appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you for your time.

  • Custom themes: How do I create & edit an auto-text box?

    Hello
Continuing my exploration of custom themes
I have now found out how to make text boxes editable (control-command-option-T, that was carefully hidden!) and am now struggling with creating and editing 'auto text' boxes (not sure what their real name is in Keynote-speak)
    1) Creating new text boxes:
Let's take a simple theme like White. One of the Masters is Title + Bullets Left. Now let's assume I want to create two text boxes with bulllets - the existing on the left and another on the right. In PowerPoint it's pretty simple: highly text box; copy; paste; move & resize as needed. Well Keynote won't let me Copy so that's out. If I create a fresh Text box, I can mimick the indent levels, bullets, font attributes, etc. (long and painful) but it still won't work because it is not a placeholder text box (fixed size) but a regular text box (size depends on content).
    I'm sure I'm missing a trick!
    2) Edit auto-text boxes
Again, take any theme, say White again; If I choose a Master with a set text placement, say Photo Vertical, there is very little I can do with it: I can change text attributes and box size, but I can't touch the number of indentation levels for example. Then again what defines a text box as been 'double click here to edit' from a regular placeholder?
Overall I think I'm missing a whole editing 'avenue' regarding masters - Anyone care to guide me?
    Thanks!

You can set a text field to be multi-line and tick off the option to scroll
long text to have it automatically wrap, but you'll have a problem with the
first partial line, since form fields can only be rectangular. Another
problem might be the lines themselves, since you'll have to use a font size
that will fit them exactly, or it will look odd. I would suggest getting
rid of those lines altogether. They are not needed when filling in the form
electronically. It's a relic from printed out forms where people had to
    hand-write their answers.

  • Centering text vertically in text box

When you open a text box how do you center the text in the middle from top to bottom(vertically), not left to right. The text starts immediately in the top left corner. I need it in the center of a predefined text box size, so that if you drew a line across the center of the box from left to right, the top half of the letters  would be above the line and the bottom half would be below the center line. In other words there should be the same distance above the words to the top edge of the text box, as to the bottom of the text box, from the center.

Thanks for the reply. Let me start by saying I am definitely a newbie with Photoshop. So if you could explain what I should do in PS that would help. I'm using CS6 Extended. I really don't know the difference between Paragraph text and Point text, and not sure what you mean when you ask is this for an Action.
I selected the "T" Horizontal type tool, and drew a box. Then I started typing. It looks like my selections are left align, center align, and right align. But it does not Center it in the middle of the box. The text is still at the top of the box. I have to have the box a certain size because of the project I'm working on. I'm assuming the text I'm selecting is what you are calling Paragraph Text. How do you use Point Text.
It's basically the spine on a book cover. You place the Title and the Authors name there, but you have to make sure it fits within the spine width, and is centered in that area. Like if you were looking at the side of a book, the title/author should be centered along that spine from top to bottom.
    Thanks!

  • How to Mass-Resize Text Boxes

    Hello,
I'm working with a PDF document with a great deal of text boxes. I have found no way to resize many text boxes at once. I was thinking there'd be a way to:
    1) Select all text boxes
    2) Right-click or do something else to open the "Properties" dialog box
    3) Within the "Properties" dialog box, find "Size"
    4) Change the "Size" height and width by numbers
    5) Press OK and voila, all the text box sizes change
I surely hope this is possible because using the mouse to drag and resize is highly inefficient.
    Thank you in advance.

Are you using Acrobat? If so, you may want to try the Acrobat forum at http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

  • Placing Text boxes

Placeing Text boxes on a document.  How do I place a text box on a document so I can print it out and it will be ledgable.
I converted a map to word and could not place a text box.  I also placed a sticky note on a PDF and could not enlarge it enough to read.
    Help!

    Hello Harrie Potter,
I have a couple of suggestions.
First, if you want to use sticky notes, you can enlarge the text in the note.
To do so, you open the pop-up and type in the text. Select the text. Hit CTRL-E to open the Pop-up Text Properties toolbar.
You can change the font and size of the pop-up's text via the properties toolbar.
Second, Acrobat has a Text Box annotation.
In the Comment tools, its icon looks like a box with a T in it.
You may select the tool and draw the text box size.
Then type the text you want in it.
Similar to the above, select the text in the text box and hit CTRL-E to open the Text Properties toolbar.
You can use the Text Properties toolbar to set the font, size, color, etc.
In either case, once you have the text properties set up the way you want, you may set them as default.
Click out of the annotation (text box or sticky note) to deselect the text.
Click once on the annotation to select the whole annotation, right-click and select "Make current properties default".
    Regards,
    Charlene

  • How do you selected all text boxes in a document

Say you have 100 pages in a document and you have a threaded text box placed on pages 1 through 100. How do you selected all the text boxes at the same time? You might do this to change the size of the boxes, or lock all of the boxes, or apply an object style to all of the boxes.

Depending upon how well your document is set up though, layout adjustment might work.
If changing text box size is on your agenda, and every text box is lying exactly on guides, then layout adjustment might work.
The only way I can think of to lock all frames in a story, or to change the size of all text frames in a story, would be to write a Javascript. And, even after years of practice, I know that it'd still be faster for me to just step through the document and make the changes by hand than it would be to bang my head against Javascript for n hours before I found a good solution.
Barring these exceptions, I think that Bob's statement
    You don't because you can't.
is actually pretty accurate. Terse, maybe, but accurate.

  • I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it. help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks

I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it.
Is it not possible to create a text box, fill it with dynamic (data driven) text, but make the font size either scale up or down automatically, so that the entire text box is filled? This is a feature in PrintShop Mail Pro called COPY FIT. but no such feature in Indesign??
help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks, DJ

lol... it seems to work, but I have another huge problem!
Apparently .CSV files cannot contain page breaks in the data! The data I am trying to merge is a 'letter', with paragraphs, line breaks, etc.,
But, after data merging, it ignores page breaks and only merges the first paragraph of each letter. (sigh)
Solution? Hopefully, an EASY solution. lol as we have thousands of records.
Is there a third party indesign plugin that will allow .xml, or .xls data merge import??
    Thx,
    DJ

  • Can I shrink the size of a form text box based on the content?

We are helping a customer migrate from some MS Word forms to use pdf forms.  We are screenscraping the data from an AS400 green screen system and populating these new pdf forms with data.  however some of the text boxes are in the middle of a sentence and the text box needs to be large enough to fit 50 characters but there are many times when the data we are entering is much less than 50.  The resulting document looks very strange with all of that extra white space in the middle of a sentence due to the size of the text box.
So can we somehow shrink the size of the text box to fit the number of characters in the box?
I considered making the box smaller and setting the font size to auto but I think that would look even more strange to have a word with smaller font in the middle of a sentence.
    Thanks,
    Trent

Sorry, I should have mentioned I am using acrobat professional 9.  I see that I can change the size of the text field when I am designing the form but what I don't see is how to dynamically change the size of the text field based on what data is put inside it.
    Thanks,
