Copy file with metadata to an external system webservice

I am trying to create a custom workflow in visual studio 2013. As a sharepoint user
I want to be able to select a document in a document library and push a button to send this file with meta-data to other system webservice. Is there Any good tutorial i can use ?

  • How can I copy songs with metadata (added in iTunes) from my PC to my new iMac?

I have iTunes 12.0.1 on my Windows PC. I'm about to get a new iMac (hooray!) and I'm beginning the process of transferring everything on my PC to my Mac. I've got all the documents, pictures, files, etc. covered, but now I have to make a copy of all of my music.
Most of the music in my iTunes library is not bought through the iTunes Store (I download most of my songs from the Internet). Then, after saving the downloaded song to my computer, I go into iTunes on my computer and add the song. I also add metadata like artist, album, genre, album artwork, etc. to the song in iTunes. What concerns me is that only the songs in iTunes have this metadata: the original downloaded files I saved onto my computer don't have any metadata.
I really don't want to have to go through the long and tedious process of adding artist/album names, genre, etc. to every single song in my iTunes library on my new iMac. How can I copy songs with metadata (added in iTunes) from my PC to my new iMac?
Thank you so much for any help!

Hello! I'd like to learn more about Home Sharing. To do this, would both my PC (which I hope to get rid of) and my new iMac need to be plugged in?
Also, after Home Sharing with the old PC is initiated, I understand that all my songs would appear on my iMac. Is there a way to copy all of these (with album artwork, name, artist, etc.) directly to the iMac's hard drive and then disconnect home sharing so I can get rid of my PC?
    Thank you!

  • Sender File Adapter  not able to get file via FTP from an external system

    Hi,
I have a Sender File Adapter using FTP which polls a server every 10 seconds looking for a file ".xml".  The adapter will connect and pick up the waiting file, but sometimes the adapter not able to get file via FTP from an external system. The file is on the server, but despite the polling, the adapter does not pick up it. There is no return error.
The connect mode is Permanently and the transfer mode is Binary.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks.
    T.

    Hi Teresa,
does this case appears with a file size higher the others?
Personally, I do not recommend to have a polling under 1min.
10s could be too just, if the file is not small and/or if the file server is far (several kilometers) to where the Adapter Engine is, and/or this file server is beside a firewall. Do not forget also that, with previous points, you could have like a conflict, betwen the 1st polling and the 2nd polling, if in less 10s PI adapter has not enough time: to connect to the FTP server (several Km), find the file (perhaps among 100 other files in the directory), go back to the file to Adapter Engine server (several Km again), convert your file to XML message (with a complex Content Conversion), then check the XML structure, and when all that is done, return back to FTP server (several Km), to archive the source file... Well It's my understanding of a FTP exchange with FILE adapter...
If you really need a 10s polling, that's mean your have a pseudo real time interface. In that case, in my mind file should not be used! but we should use a Web service, JDBC JMS (any exchange without a physical object like a file). For me, it's a non-sens to have a file in that case.

  • Archeive Lightroom Files with metadata

How can you backup your original lightroom 1.0 files to an external drive so you can completely restore data if computer dies? or want to transfer to 2nd computer?
Is the only way-to export DNG format with metadata (these are not original raw format)?
Aperture has a one click vault feature-copying all to external drive.

LR can be set-up yo back-up the dB on a regular basis. The images you should be already backing up. That is all you need at a minimum.
Look in Prefs under Gneral/Default Library for the back-up pulldown.

  • Cannot copy files to, rename or unmount external HD

When I try to copy files to my 4TB Mac Os Extended(journaled) G-drive connected via Firewire 800 I get this message "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)."
When I verify the disk itself(the orange disk with firewire symbol) in disk utility, it checks all the normal parts of the file structure and volume information this volume in disk utility then disk utility says "The volume GEE-THAT'S_BIG appears to be OK." I get the same report ""The volume GEE-THAT'S_BIG appears to be OK." when I verify the mounted volume in disk utility. When I try to repair either the disk itself or mounted volume I receive this "Error: Could not unmount disk".
When I try to eject the disk in Finder I receive this error message "The disk "GEE-THAT'S_BIG" wasn't ejected because one or more programs may be using it". This happens even when the only application I am running is Finder.
If I try to rename this disk I receive the "This name can't be used    Try using a name with fewer characters, or with no puctuation marks" error message (even though the orginal name I gave this disk and the name it reverts back to has punctuation marks).
I believe I'm getting this problem because of corrupted permissions. Why are the Verify Disk Pemissions and Repair Disk Pemissions greyed out for this disk in disk utility? What can I do to resolve this issue?
    thanks,
    Tim

I simply switched the Firewire daisy chaining between my 1TB external and this 4TB external. Problem solved...

  • Copied files got corrupted in USB3 external drives connected to Macbook Pro, how to fix it?

I use USB3 connected external hard drives in my Macbook Pro (Yosemite 10.10.1) frequently. I had no problem until two months ago. This week I noticed a lot of corrupted files in one drive. Luckily  I have a backup, and I copied the files. But the files copied recently were mostly corrupted even though source files are fine. I spent a whole day trying with different options, e.g. erasing the drive, using cp, rsync, ditto etc. I figured out that if I copy single file or folder using cp, the copied files are fine, but rsync, ditto or recursive cp or finder's drag and drop results into a lot of corrupted files. I thought this was the hardware related issue of the external drive. But, I was surprised to notice that all files copied without any problem when I used a old macbook (only has USB2 port, and still use Mavericks). Since I have almost 2TB data to write, USB2 is very slow. I am very disappointed to find out that USB3 in Yosemite has caused all these troubles. If anyone has a solution to this problem, Please suggest.
External hard drive Western Digital My passport.
Disk is formatted to Paragon NTFS

It's good to hear the Macbook Pro & the disk is capable of working correctly. The next test would be to try a clean install of OS X & repeat the copy guess. Adding third party drivers for write support makes the picture a little cloudy IMO.
I'm not really sure what else to suggest other than doing some tests & then taking that data to an Apple store. If you are lucky the genius may follow up on it, or if you submit it as bug reports Apple may follow up on it.

  • Cannot copy file with other buffer sizes, except 1

    Hi,
i'd like to copy files (txt, images, etc) , but by using the following route:
-read bytes from a file in a ByteBuffer
-use a byte array to create a String representation in binary form (ie "0101101") of the ByteBuffer
    -print the string
    and then the reverse:
-create a byte array from the String
-put the bytes in another ByteBuffer
-write them to the destination file
The problem is, that in the general case, this only works for ByteBuffer.allocate(1)! it works for txt files with any size, but not for image files; i have not tried for any other kind of file.
    Ideas?

  • FTP file on Appserver to an external system from ABAP

    Hi,
I am trying to FTP a file that my program writes to the APPSERVER directory. I used FTP_CONNECT, FTP_COMMAND and FTP_DISCONNECT.
I am able to connect to the external system and change to the directory where I have to write the file using cd. The problem arises when I use lcd command to switch the local directory. Although, i specify the path, lcd /usr/sap/icomm/iface/outbound/, on execution of this command, the system points to my C:\Documents and Settings\rkademani\SapWorkDir.
How can I make it point to my appserver?
Further, this program will be scheduled as a background job in Production. I have tried to schedule this as a background job, even then it gives me the same error.
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • SSIS - How to run command line to copy files with User Variables within a Execute Process Task

    Hello,
I'm am having syntax issues within the Arguments when trying to copy a file with cmd.exe using User Variables.
    It works when I hard code the arguments : /c copy /b  "\\folder1\file.txt" "\\folder2\file.txt"
However, it's failing when I try using User Variables to replace the directory and file.
    User::FILES = \\folder1\file.txt
    User::FILE_NAME = file.txt
    "/c copy /b + @[User::FILES] + \" \\\\folder2\\" + @[User::FILE_NAME]"
Does anybody know what's wrong with my syntax?
    Thanks!

    Hi SSISBeginner,
Assuming the source file is "C:\Temp\Source\file.txt", the destination folder is "C:\Temp\Destination", the expression of FILES variable is "C:\Temp\Source\file.txt", and the expression of FILE_NAME variable is file.txt. Then, we can use the following
expression for the Argument property of the Execute Process Task:
    "/C COPY /B "  +  @[User::FILES] + " C:\\Temp\\Destination\\" +   @[User::FILE_NAME]
Note: Pay attention to the spaces in the double quotes in the expression.

    But it doesn't work.
    Is this function ok?

try 2 backslashes instead of 1

  • Powershell: How do I upload files with metadata from a manifest file?

I am using the script from this blog to try to upload files into SharePoint, using a manifest file to specify the metadata associated with each file. Right now, the script works, but is not populating
the metadata from the manifest (xml) file. When I write the $metadataManifest variable out to the console, I get the contents of my xml file, so the code is reading the file when it should. However when it gets to the line in bold ($metadataManifest.Columns.Column),
it does not go into that block...it just skips on to checkin the file. Again the $metadataManifest variable shows all the content in my xml manifest file. Here is what the script looks like...

    Hi Spawn,
Name should not be a problem.. I will probably post you the entire code (I modified it to meet your goals for having multiple column xml nodes as well)
    For the code snippet below:
    a. In powershell all my changes will have ## prefixed comments
    b. in XML I have changed one column name to "Name" to replicate your case and also added a parent node for making the xml well formed.
    and the SharePoint output

  • Unable to copy file from local drive to external drive

I'm attempting to copy a 7gb file from my local drive on my iMac to an external firewire drive. Whenever I try to do this I get the following message: Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred.
I've rebooted, checked permissions on local and external drive. I'm the only person that uses this iMac. It only has one profile on it. Any suggestions?

    Hello Sikwidityo
If that External HD is formatted MS-DOS FAT32, then there is a 4GB file size limit that the iMac's can write to it.
    See > http://www.macworld.com/article/51972/2006/07/ww_drives.html
In order to copy large files to it you from your Intel iMac's, you will need to set the Partition Map Scheme to GUID Partition Table and Format it Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    See > http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/partitioningtiger.html
Keep in mind that repartitioning and reformatting will erase the current data on the External drive. So if you do, you'll need to copy it's contents to one of your iMac's and then back when your done.

  • Can't copy file with # in name to Panther server

I have this problem with any file that has a "#" in its name, which is fairly common on Mac OS X , I think (the result of certain programs truncating the name)
For example, from a computer running Panther, I can copy the file "list all movies in path copy#12345.app" up to any share on the server.
From a computer running Tiger, I can copy the same file up to any share except one that's named "Backup2". When I try to copy up to that, I get the message "The operation is not permitted because you do not have sufficient priveleges for some of the items". I've checked and re-checked, all the permissions are fine.
It's almost like "Backup2" is acting like a a samba share and restricting the name. "Backup2" has exactly the same settings as the other shares, but it's the only share with a number in it's name.
The Tiger clients are running 10.4.3, the server is a G5 xserve running 10.3.9 server, with an xraid. The shares are on the xraid.
Any thoughts on why this would happen?

Apple "support" has so far done nothing to help me resolve this, after telling me that they were escalating it to a higher level of support.
My theory is this: One of my XRAID controllers died. When Apple's on-site service came to replace it, they didn't properly seat the new one, which resulted in my losing the right hand array. After reseating it, I had to re-initialize the right hand (lower controller) array and restore my data. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the replacement controller had an older firmware rev. I upated it later, but my belief is that I will need to re-initialize it for this problem to go away. I haven't been able to do that yet, because it will take me around 3 days to restore 1.3 TB of data.

  • How do i copy files and folders from one external harddrive to another on the iMac?

For some reason when i drag the folder or file that i want to transfer or copy from one external harddrive to another, nothing happens when i drop it on the destination folder or drive. however, when i drag and drop to the desktop or any location on the Imac internal hardrive it works without any issue. The only problem is that i dont want to transfer or copy stuff to the computer. i want to copy it to an external harddrive. please help if your have answers to my question.
    Thanks!

Check the formatting of the external hard drive. To do that, right click on the drive icon and select Get Info. (Or click once on the drive and type command +i ) The pane includes information about the drive format.
The drive should be formatted as Mac OS Extended. If it is not, run Disk Utility (App;ications / Utilities) and format the drive.

  • Cannot Copy File with Group Policy Preferences

    Hi,
I am trying to use a Group Policy Preference to copy a simple text file from a network share to a folder at the root of 'C:\' on the clients. It is not happening. I created the preference in the computer section of the GPO. It is set to create, as the file
does not already exist on the client, with the archive bit on.
    Source: \\server.domain.com\folder\fileshare\file.txt
    Destination: C:\folder
GPResult shows the clients are getting the GPO, but it seems as if that one setting and another is not being applied. I have no idea why this isn't working when other parts of the GPO are being applied. I read
the documentation on the Technet page, but I must have missed something.
Any ideas why this might not be working?
    Thanks

    > Computers" has read access. Listing the actual file name in the
    > destination is something I would have never though to do.
...unless the path ends with an "\", it IS a file name, so if you had
"C:\Folder" as the target, check your C:\ drive for a file called
    "Folder" :)
