If i try sync it says it will erase the iphone and I have no ringtones in the itunes as is new install

NEW ITUNES METHOD.  To install a new custom ringtone to the newest iTunes version:
1. Open two windows, iTunes and folder holding your ringtone.
2. In iTunes, click on the button on the top left, scroll down to Tones, select it.
3.  Locate your ringtone in the folder.
4.  Drag and drop the ringtone into iTunes Tones window.
5.  Sync and your done.

  • No custom iPhone ringtones with new iTunes?

Has anyone else tried to import m4r files into the ringtones folder of iTunes with no luck? Is the new iTunes not supporting custom rings? If so - BOOOO Apple. If I am doing something wrong - help? I made the files and saved them as Quicktime Mpeg-4 audio compression, then renamed to m4r. No dice. Adivce?

Yes thanks, I just realized that with google-searching...my mistake was to encode files with QT, when I had to use a AAC codec then change it to m4r. (just explaining for others out there - you can use any audio program to create ringtones as long as you save as AAC, then change to m4r.
roaminggnome - I only don't like to use iTunes b/c I like to select different passages of songs and multi-track them with each other, apply effects, shizzy stuff like that, so iTunes isn't the bestest really.
    Thanks!

  • HT1473 How can I transfer my music (not purchased from Itunes) from my Ipad/Iphone to my new Itunes library on a Macbook Pro?

I've recently bought a new Macbook Pro and in my Itunes Library everything I have purchased from Itunes is in my new Itunes Library.
However I want to transfer all my music (not purchased from itunes) from my Ipad/Iphone to my new Itunes Library.... and I have absoutely no idea how to do this? Also I'm scared to press sync when my ipad is plugged into my Mac incase will loose all this music!
    Help Please!

The iphone/ipad/ipod is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone/ipad/ipod.
Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.

    Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.
It says my phone can only be set up woth one itunes account. How do I remove the previous account?
No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer.

  • How can I sync the music on my iphone to a new itunes on a new computer without losing everything?

Just recently I got a new laptop which means a fresh, new itunes. The old computer had all my songs but it's a really slow old computer so i can no longer sync my iphone to it anymore. so i was wondering how could i sync the music i have on my iphone to my new itunes on my laptop? the only option i've seen is syncing the 3 sample songs i have on my itunes to my iphone but then i would lose all my other songs. help.

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
Iphone will sycn with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content.

  • My old computer has crashed with my old itunes on it. How can I transfer my music from my iphone to my new itunes library?

My old computer has crashed with my old itunes on it. How can I transfer my music from my iphone to my new itunes library?

Use the backup of the old computer and copy the iTunes files to the new one.
However, since you are writing here, you probably didn't have a backup, so check out this user provided support document https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • How can I put everything back in my iPhone to the new iTunes?

My computer was broken down and I bought a new one.
I download an new iTunes, of course nothing inside!
I just want to know how can I put back all my things in iPhone to the new iTunes!
That's means I have all the things( songs, apps...etc ) in my iPhone and I just want to copy those things fully to the new iTunes, without losing anything!
Looking for help and thank you so much!

    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

You need to Copy iTunes from Your Old Computer to your New Computer...
    See Here
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    Or...
From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
An Added Bonus is that you will then have a Backup of iTunes...

  • How can i connect my iphone to a new itunes library without losing my contacts and photos ?

how can i connect my iphone to a new itunes library without losing my contacts and photos ?

Is the new iTunes library on a different computer, or the same computer?
Are you concerned about photos that you have taken with the iPhone in the Camera Roll, or photos you have synced to the iPhone from your computer?
Contacts should be configured to sync with an app on your computer. You set this up in iTunes on the Info tab with the iPhone connected. You will not lose any contacts if the app on your computer has at least one contact.
