Copy/Replay/Redo History on another layer?

I suspect the answer to this is no, but it's sure be handy for those of use that periodically mess up our workflow...
I generally use layers in Photoshop for cloning and healing. Unfortunately, every so often, I jump into PS and forget to create the layers before I race off and start cleaning up. I may go 50 steps of cloning or healing before I remember I'm on the background layer instead of the clone/heal layer........ Which causes me to utter profanities under my breath.
SO, is there any way for me to do a bunch of cloning, then realize I forgot my layers, CREATE the layers, then grab the previous history steps, undo them from the background layer and redo them on my clone/heal layer?
A companion question: Is there any reason history in Photoshop can't be made persistent like it is in Lightroom? It would sometimes be useful to end a session, go back into PS later on the .psd file and be able to have the previous history. It'd be REALLY nice if this was combined with the previous question...

The second part is pretty complex, especially if you don't understand the first part.
You will be selecting "all", the entire canvas. This command is under the Edit menu, the keyboard shortcut is Command/Ctrl+A.
Copy is also under the Edit menu, shortcut Command/Ctrl+C.
Revert is under the File menu, shortcut F12. It takes you back to the beginning of the history, to where the file was when you opened it. You can also just click on the very top of the History.
Paste is back in the Edit menu, shortcut Command/Ctrl+V.
The Revert command will take you back to a clean file, but does not clear out the clipboard, so when you paste, you will be creating a new layer that includes all of the edits you've done previously. So after these four step (which can be done in seconds with the keyboard shortcuts), you will end up with your image exactly as you had been working on it on a new layer, while your original, untouched image will be the Background layer.
The main problem with trying to enble the feature request you are making here is that the steps would be repeated EXACTLY as the had been done in the first place. This means you would go through all that trouble only with the exact same end result (but you would have a nice, blank layer, which would be the exact same place you would have been with out a new feature).

A little help please as it's been years since I've done any coding of any sort.
So I have a 4 page document with various field types. I have a document script that gets "TodaysDate" that works perfectly and a few other scripts as well.
So what I'm trying to do is find a work around for the following:
I have 3 fields - SURNAME, FIRSTNAME & dob.

However I'm hoping that maybe I could have a Submit button at the end of that document that when clicked would copy the text from those 3 fields (that I would have on 1 layer) into 1 field on a 2nd layer. Is that even possible??
I'd also like to have the document Print, Save (using the text in the field on the 2nd layer as the file name), Email (using the text in the field on the 2nd layer as the subject line) and Export to a specific Excel spreadsheet.
I don't want much do I?
I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro on a Windows PC but also have access to Acrobat 8 Professional. And I'm going to want the form to run in Acrobat Reader X.
So far I have for the 3 fields into 1 on another layer:

Sorry Gilad. I hope I'm not getting on your nerves (too much) but as I said it's been a while since I did any formal code. And I'm trying to do this code for a work document but I'm doing it in amongst so many other things I do for my job that it's difficult to get the time to concentrate for longer than 5 mins.
I didn't get a chance to try that code until just now. I guess I asked again as I thought (from what I'd read) that it wouldn't be that simple.
So I've added that code and I get no errors. But it doesn't appear to be doing anything either. I've added the code like this in the Custom calculation script of a separate field I've called FileName. And on the Button i'm using I've added: buttonClick()

How do I move or copy a shape layer's path to another layer?

i'm looking how to apply an existing vector shape from a layer to another, before it was simple as hell just by alt + drag 'n drop from a layer to another.
But now this command doesn't work anymore ? so how i can do it ? i need to simply apply a vector clipping mask to a bitmap layer or a group or just apply a shape to another vector layer (not the blending option)
why it's not anymore possible ? it was simple and easy since CS1 or 2 why have you changed that ?

It's unclear to me from your keyboard shortcuts whether you are on Windows or Mac, so here are the keyboard shortcuts for both platforms:
Command-drag (Mac)/Ctrl-drag (Win) the shape layer thumbnail to move the shape path to another layer.
Command-Option-drag (Mac)/Ctrl-Alt-drag (Win) the shape layer thumbnail to copy the shape path to another layer.
We had to make this slight change since there is no longer a separate vector mask thumbnail on shape layers.
For non-shape layers with a separate vector mask, the old keyboard shortcuts should still work for moving/copying the vector mask.

How do I copy and paste a shape (or layer) from one file to another keeping all of its attributes?

Our department currently uses MS Paint to place varied colored boxes for callouts on top of screen figures used in our documentation. As you know, MS Paint is not a robust image editing application, and we are frustrated at its limitations (especially not having a "non-destructive" edit capability). Consequently, we are evaluating a trial version of PS to see how a workflow could be developed that would allow the department to use callout boxes "stored" in a PS file that could be applied in an easy, consistent manner to our screen figures (but also keep each callout box editable) using PS.
Consequently, in PS using the shape tool, I created a file with our colored boxes for callouts, each on its own layer. Now I am trying to determine how you copy and paste a box (or layer) from this file to a "working" file (one containing a screen figure), while keeping all of its attributes (color, line weight, being editable, etc.). I can't seem to find an option to do this. Is there? If not, is there another workflow in PS that you can recommend for this type of procedure?

How do I select a color range like in Photoshop OR copy/move a layer into the mask of another layer?

I'm trialling Photoshop Elements and wanting to use a black and white (grey scale) layer that I've made as a mask in another layer and don't know how to do it in Elements. In Photoshop, I'd do this (there maybe a better way in PS to do it, but I haven't discovered it yet)...
Click the layer i've created that I intend to use as a mask
Select All
Copy
select layer that I want the mask to be applied to
click the Add Layer Mask button (at the bottom of the Layers window)
click the mask icon so it is highlighted (and the image isn't)
switch to Channels view
highlith the Layer Mask beneath the R,G,B layers and make it visible
Paste
make it invisible again
switch back to layers.
This works and retains the full range of transparency for semi transparency and soft edges of the mask etc.
Alternatively, I can select a Color Range, but that doesn't seem to be available in PS Elements.
So, how do I achieve the same result in PS Elements?

The "Sample Field" letters are very dim. After punching several times the right click revels "Clone stamp mode". The next little circle has a line through it and after several right clicks, it says: "turn on to ignore adjustment layers when cloning," Despite this I cannot get any kind of a response to change any of the existing entries. What's the easiest way to move or copy an effect from a layer or object to another layer or object?

If I drag an effect from the target circle of one object to anther in the layer's panel it replaces the effect along with all appearance. But I want just to add the effect. For example, a layer has a drop shadow and a path, round corners. I want to move the drop shadow from the layer to the path so that the path now has the round corners and the drop shadow.
To do this I have to open the shadow effect of the layer wright down its parameters, then create a shadow effect for the path with the same parameters which is a lot of work. Any easier way?

May be I'm not understanding you or may be you misunderstood me.
This is an example:
Create a document and a path (for example a box) and apply Effects > Stylize > Round Corners
In the layers panel, click the target circle of the layer and apply Effects > Stylize > Drop Shadow.
Now I want to move or copy the drop shadow from the layer and add it to the path without removing the Round Corners effects already applied to the path.
The result for the path should be Drop Shadow effect added to it and the Round Corners effect remains.
The result for the layer should be no effect remains for it in case of moving the effect or the Drop Shadow effect remains in case of copying it (holding Alt key while dragging from its target circle).

You may have answered my question. I AM using the 64bit version of Illustrator CS6. I had no idea there were bugs in it that affected paths copied and pasted from Illustrator to Photoshop.
A bit more about what I'm trying to accomplish... I'm trying to follow Deke's tutorial (http://www.deke.com/content/dekes-techniques-018-creating-a-3d-pie-chart) which is already difficult since so much has changed between CS5.5 and 6, but then on top of that, I keep getting errors!
So I created the pie chart exactly as he shows and copied and pasted into Photoshop exactly as he does. Before submitting this post, though, I tried drawing just two very simple triangle shapes, copying them both and pasting them into Photoshop as a shape layer. The shapes weren't overlapping, but they were a part of the same shape layer just like the pie chart tutorial.

Put the image behind the layer (at the back of it or on a layer below). With it still selected, Copy.
Now Paste in Front (Ctrl+F). Depending on your Paste Remembers Layers setting, you may have to bring the newly pasted copy to the front, or to the upper layer.
Draw a shape over the image to define the portion of it you want to appear "in front."
With the shape and the image selected, clip the image using the shape. (Object > Clipping Mask > Make)

Trying to edit psd file and it adds another layer

I have a psd file that was created to use as a template (it is all text). When I try to edit it, it won't let me, instead another layer is added to the file, instead of allowing me to edit the layer that I am in.......what am I missing???

If it's been rasterized, you will not be able to edit it. You'll have to re-create the text layer. The trouble is that since it was a template, you may not have the fonts that were used to originally create the template.

What I suggest is that you try to pair your apple ID with you company ipad and see if it works.
Here is why::
I believe that the Apple rules let you. They are something like:
-- for a shared iDevice, you may put the app on one device
-- for a device you use exclisively, you may put the app on five (or some number) of iDevices

iPhoto is not a Photo Viewer. It's a Photo Manager and designed for looking after the files while you organise the Photos. It really works much better if you let it manage those files. If you use iPhoto you never go near those files because iPhoto is your start point for anything you want to do with your Photos - the point of the pplication.
You can run iPhoto in Referenced mode, where it does not copy the files to the Library, but I caution you that you are making life a lot more difficult for yourself by doing that.

Copy of Transaction History from source Tran to subsequent Tran

I have a requirement where I need to copy the Transaction History (DOC FLOW) of the source Transaction(Service Complaint) to Targert Transaction(Repair Order).
i.e when Repair Order is created as Follow-up transaction from the Service Complaint(It has Service Contract in the Transaction History), while Repair Order creation it prompts the Item to copy from Compalint , Item is getting copied to Repair Order successfully, but Item related Service Contract is not copying from the Compalint Transction History to Repair Order.
Here I can impliment CRM_COPY_BADI, Method DOC_FLOW to copy Service Contract from the Transaction History of the Compalint to Repair Order.
If my approach is correct, Please share the sample code from the Method DOC_FLOW for this.
if it is not correct way of doing, Kindly suggest me the other way to achive this.

While creating the follow up documents we can make use of CRM_COPY_BADI , to fill the required standard fields or custom fields.
You can make use of several API function modules related to document flow say for example if your want to read any runtime data from buffer related to document flow we can make use of the function module CRM_DOC_FLOW_READ_DB. Given the relevant code snippet

On the second machine I try to startup the database by the command

If the Operating system is same :
Working Machine
================
Shutdown the database and copy everything
Copy the init.ora
Copy the pdf,ctl,and log
Copy the bdump, udump etc..
On the second machine
==================
Copy your file in the same path as original i.e
C:\oracle..<dbname>\system.dbf
C:\oracle..<dbname>\system.dbf
Start the database
If your paths in second machine does not match as original update this thread again
