    Hi,
    You can check the defined enviornment variable using command prompt and System properties.
    Open Command Prompt and give "set" command. It will show you active environment variable.
    You can also set missing environment variables in system properties.
    Start -->Control Panel --> System
    On Advanced Tab --> Environment Variables.
    After logging to the database if it shows message "Connected to idle instance", that means your database is not started.
    Please start the database using below SQL command.
    Open Command Prompt
    C:\Sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL>startup
    Once it says "Database opened", retry SAP installation.
    You can also check the database status in SQL prompt using below command:
    SQL> select instance_name,status from v$instance;
    It must show output like:
    INSTANCE_NAME    STATUS
    <SID>              OPEN

    The above error are also present in the other Process log files.
    But when i saw the installation logs of the Source system the same errors are also there(but it was still Sucessfull Standard installation).
    there is one difference as well I am SQL SP3 (8.00.780) but existing Production server is SQL SP3(8.00.929).
    My installation is stoppoing here with error While executing Script.
    I've done Homogenous copy on WiN-ORACLE many times but on WIN-SQL i am doing very first time.
    While installation database phase it asked me for EXPORT CD twice first time for standard(which usually we got with SAP Software) and Second time for Migration EXPORT. that is different from ECC5.0 i think.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Vinay

  • How to copy data from one table to another (in other database)

    Hi. I would like to copy all rows from one table to another (and not use BC4J). Tables can be in various databases. I have already 2 connections and I am able to browse source table using
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery("select ...");
    But I would not like to create special insert statement for every row . There will be problems with date formats etc and it will be slow. Can I use retrieved ResultSet somehow ? Maybe with method insertRow, but how, if ResultSet is based on select statement and want to insert into target table? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

    No tools please, it must be common solution. We suceeded in converting our BC4J aplication to PostgreSQL, the MSSQL will be next. So we want to write simple aplication, which could transfer data from our tables between these 3 servers.

  • -36 errors, can't copy files in finder or backup to tape drive

    Does anyone know what causes -36 errors and how we can eliminate them? We need to backup our files, but have been unable to do so due to -36 I/O errors in Retrospect. Files on which this error is reported by Retrospect will not copy in the finder, either. I think our hard drive may be bad. How can we recover our files if they cannot be backed-up or copied?
    We recently purchased a tape drive for backup, an Exabyte VXA-2 FireWire Tape Drive. We are using VXA-2 V23 (230m) 80GB/160/GB Data Cartridges. I have verified that this drive is supported by Retrospect and that we have the correct tape cartridge. We are backing up one partition of a hard drive that is divided into two partitions. One is the start-up partition, the other is a partition on which we store customer files. We are backing up the partition that stores customer files. The tape drive is attached to and backing up a Macintosh G3 that was recently upgraded from system 9 to OS X 10.3.9 (Panther). The hard drive was not re-formatted before OS X was installed. I have downloaded updates and updated our Retrospect to the latest Retrospect version 6.1.126. I keep getting read errors when trying to backup the customer files partition, although I have ran every good repair program I know of to that partition — TechTool, Disk Warrior and Disk Utility. The tests all say the drive is OK. The only test I have not done recently is a surface scan, as this is an over-night procedure, but plan to do it this evening. A surface scan was done at the beginning of January, but we have continued to have problems. Yesterday morning I ran Disk Utility and it verified that the partition was okay.
    I am fairly certain the problem is not with the tape drive, as a test backup up of some of the problem customer files to a file backup on the startup drive also produced many -36 errors. Also the tape drive worked on another Mac with no -36 errors.
    The following is an excerpt from the log of last night's backup when the program was backing up (this is a very small portion of the whole log, there was a very long list of files it reported read errors on) Following this excerpt is also an excerpt of errors reported while the program was trying to verify the backup:

    The only suggestion I have come across is to copy the files to another drive, but this is impossible because the problem files cannot be copied. If anyone has any other suggestion for fixing this, I would appreciate any input. Thanks.
    Mac G3 Blue & White 300 mhz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Original hard drive replaced with a 120 GB Maxtor 6Y120P0

    Tech Tool, Disk Warrior, and Disk Utility all work to make sure the directory is Okay. They do not read every block.
    I think you should do the surface scan you spoke of. What program do you use for this?
    If you cannot copy a file in the Finder without an I/O error, the file is damaged or the drive had bad blocks.
    Be sure you also downloaded the drivers module when you updated retrospect.

  • Unable to copy table in same Database

    I m using jdbc:odbc bridge to connect to MS access database. i am trying to create a table by copying data from another table in same database. the code is
    Statement stmt = mycon.createStatement();
    String query = "create table " + temp1 + " as select * from " + temp2;
    stmt.executeUpdate(query);
    But java is throwing exception as:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Acces Driver] Syntax error in
    CREATE TABLE statement.
    Simple create and select are working fine. Is there something like MS Access doesnt support such queries?
    Thanx for help
    Viney

    Hi Viney_yadav,
    First a general suggestion: The error message you got states that is a SQL syntax error. This tells you that you should try running the SQL that is failing directly through Access and correct the syntax problem there. That will help you verify the SQL syntax and avoid any complications related to Java.
    And now some specific help (cut/paste from a previous life): Different DBMS's handle the SELECT INTO... differently. SELECT INTO... in Microsoft Access actually creates a new table. If the table already exists (in Access) then you would use the INSERT INTO..SELECT... statement.
    EXAMPLE to create and populate a new table in Access (sorry didn't test this):
    select temp2.* into temp1 from temp2

  • How to clear the fields within copy routines in the copy contorl

    HI Gurus,
    I need to clear  the fields VBP-VBELV and VBAP-PSSNV within the copy routines 303 in the copy control between quote item and sales order item. I am not sure how to do that... Can some body please help.
    This is required because we had sales order and quote using the same requirement type which controls the special stock indicator. This leads to the stock getting update in quotation instead of the sales order, because the quotation is initiating document (collecting all cost etc).Now i know requirement should only be passed to production from sales order and not from quotation so i changed the config but there are some existing documents using same requirement type on both quotation and sales order and to correct those i need to clear fields VBP-VBELV and VBAP-PSSNV within the copy routines 303.
    Please help!
    Regards,
    Sam

    Hi ,
    just use this code in ur save button action handler , this will clear the field after entered in to the database and will ready for the next set of data.
    String password=wdContext.currentContextElement().getpwd();
    try{
         InitialContext ctx=new InitialContext();
         DataSource ds=(DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/SAPJ2EDB");
         Connection con=ds.getConnection();
         con.setAutoCommit(false);
         Statement stmt=con.createStatement();
         int retIns = stmt.executeUpdate("insert into TMP_NEWUSERDETAIL(PASSWORD) values("password")");
         con.commit();
         con.setAutoCommit(true);
         wdContext.currentContextElement().setpwd(null);
    or use a seperate button to clear the field.
    wdContext.currentContextElement().set<Attributename>(null);

                      Is there any way i can capture the field in my script without making changes in the standard driver program like a select statement in the script.
    Thanks.

    Hello Poonam,
    Sorry i think you are not aware of using PERFORM stmts in SAPScripts !!!
    @ Amit you can try this bit of coding:
    /:           PERFORM F_GET_KTEXT IN PROGRAM ZPROGRAM
    /:           USING &MSEG-NPLNR&
    /:           CHANGING &V_KTEXT&
    /:           ENDPERFORM
    Create a Subroutine-Pool Program: ZPROGRAM where you write the FORM for the above PERFORM.
    FORM f_get_cust_details
    TABLES fp_it_input  STRUCTURE itcsy
                  fp_it_output STRUCTURE itcsy.
    DATA:
      l_v_nplnr TYPE nplnr,
      l_v_ktext TYPE auftext.
      READ TABLE fp_it_input WITH KEY name = 'MSEG-NPLNR'.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        l_v_nplnr = fp_it_input-value.
      ENDIF.
      SELECT SINGLE KTEXT
      INTO l_v_ktext
      FROM aufk
      WHERE aufnr = l_v_nplnr.
      LOOP AT fp_it_output.                                     "#EC *
        IF fp_it_output-name EQ 'V_KTEXT'.
    *     Modifying the output table with the customer number
          fp_it_output-value = l_v_nplnr.
          MODIFY fp_it_output.
      ENDLOOP.
    ENDFORM.
    Please note that passing the USING / CHANGING parameters through tables of ITCSY structures is a standard way of doing this & you cannot change this )
    Hope this helps.

  • Copy Long raw from oracle table to table

    Hi
    I am wondering if someone help me to move (copy) long raw data from one table to another. I want to do:
    select long_raw_data from table1;
    insert into table2 values (previously selected long raw value).
    I wrote the following small java code, but it doesn't work. I get the following exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00936: missing expression.
    ---------- Code: ---------
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.sql.*;
    class myJDBC
    public static void main (String args[])
    try {
    Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@test:1521:devtest";
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection (url, "test", "test");
         Statement stmt = con.createStatement ();
         Statement insStmt = con.createStatement ();
    ResultSet res = stmt.executeQuery (

         byte[] bytes = res.getBytes(1);
         insStmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO TMP_RESUME VALUES (" + bytes + ")");
    // clean-up
    stmt.close ();
    con.close ();
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println (e.getMessage ());
    e.printStackTrace ();

    Thanks for your help
    V Prakash

    use PreparedStatement :
    PreparedStatement insStmt = connect.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO TMP_RESUME VALUES (?)");
    while (res.next ())
    byte[] bytes = res.getBytes(1);
    insStmt.setBytes(1,bytes);
    insStmt.executeUpdate();
    I don't remember very querys with ORACLE,
    but you may be do this in one time with
    SELECT ...... INTO ....
    or
    INSERT ..... INTO ..... SELECT
    One of this is valid for ORACLE and the other for SYBASE ...

    Based on the select that you have in your post, this is what I see.
    As output, you only need fields from LIKP and only one field from VBAK.
    All your fields on the WHERE clause is on LIKP data.
    You only need LIPS for the Sales document number.

  • Read stmt

    read itab index i..
    except this statement can i use read stmt in another way?

    Hi Balu
    <b>Reading Lines of Tables </b>
    <b>
    To read a single line of any table, use the statement: </b>
    READ TABLE <itab> <key> <result>.
    For the statement to be valid for any kind of table, you must specify the entry using the key and not the index. You specify the key in the <key> part of the statement. The <result> part can specify a further processing option for the line that is retrieved.
    If the system finds an entry, it sets SY-SUBRC to zero, if not, it takes the value 4, as long as it is not influenced by one of the possible additions. If the internal table is an index table, SY-TABIX is set to the index of the line retrieved. If the table has a non-unique key and there are duplicate entries, the first entry is read.
    <b>Specifying the Search Key</b>
    The search key may be either the table key or another key.
    <b>Using the Table Key</b>
    To use the table key of <itab> as a search key, enter <key> as follows:
    READ TABLE <itab> FROM <wa> <result>.
    or as follows
    READ TABLE <itab> WITH TABLE KEY <k1> = <f 1> ... <k n> = <f n> <result>.
    In the first case, <wa> must be a work area compatible with the line type of <itab>. The values of the key fields are taken from the corresponding components of the work area.
    In the second case, you have to supply the values of each key field explicitly. If you do not know the name of one of the key fields until runtime, you can specify it as the content of a field <n i > using the form (<n i >) = <f i >. If the data types of <f i > are not compatible with the key fields, the system converts them.
    The system searches for the relevant lines as follows:
    Standard tables
    Linear search, where the runtime is in linear relation to the number of table entries.
    Sorted tables
    Binary search, where the runtime is in logarithmic relation to the number of table entries.
    Hashed tables
    The entry is found using the hash algorithm of the internal table. The runtime is independent of the number of table entries.
    <b>
    Using a Different Search Key</b>
    To use a key other than the table key as a search key, enter <key> as follows:
    READ TABLE <itab> WITH KEY = <f> <result>.
    or as follows
    READ TABLE <itab> WITH KEY <k1> = <f1> ... <k n> = <f n> <result>.
    In the first case, the whole line of the internal table is used as the search key. The contents of the entire table line are compared with the contents of field <f>. If <f> is not compatible with the line type of the table, the value is converted into the line type. The search key allows you to find entries in internal tables that do not have a structured line type, that is, where the line is a single field or an internal table type.
    In the second case, the search key can consist of any of the table fields <k 1 >...<k n >. If you do not know the name of one of the components until runtime, you can specify it as the content of a field <n i > using the form (<n i >) = <f i >. If <n i > is empty when the statement is executed, the search field is ignored. If the data types of <f i > are not compatible with the components in the internal table, the system converts them. You can restrict the search to partial fields by specifying offset and length.
    The search is linear for all table types. The runtime is in linear relation to the number of table lines.
    <b>
    Specifying the Extra Processing Option</b>
    You can specify an option that specifies what the system does with the table entry that it finds.
    <b>Using a Work Area
    </b>
    You can write the table entry read from the table into a work area by specifying <result> as follows:
    READ TABLE <itab> <key> INTO <wa> [COMPARING <f1> <f 2> ...
                                                 |ALL FIELDS]
                                      [TRANSPORTING <f1> <f 2> ...
                                                     |ALL FIELDS
                                                    |NO FIELDS].
    If you do not use the additions COMPARING or TRANSPORTING, the contents of the table line must be convertible into the data type of the work area <wa>. If you specify COMPARING or TRANSPORTING, the line type and work area must be compatible. You should always use a work area that is compatible with the line type of the relevant internal table.
    If you use the COMPARING addition, the specified table fields <f i > of the structured line type are compared with the corresponding fields of the work area before being transported. If you use the ALL FIELDS option, the system compares all components. If the system finds an entry with the specified key <key> and if the contents of the compared fields are the same, SY-SUBRC is set to 0. If the contents of the compared fields are not the same, it returns the value 2. If the system cannot find an entry, SY-SUBRC is set to 4. If the system finds an entry, it copies it into the target work area regardless of the result of the comparison.
    If you use the TRANSPORTING addition, you can specify the table fields of the structured line type that you want to transport into the work area. If you specify ALL FIELDS without TRANSPORTING, the contents of all of the fields are transported. If you specify NO FIELDS, no fields are transported. In the latter case, the READ statement only fills the system fields SY-SUBRC and SY-TABIX. Specifying the work area <wa> with TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS is unnecessary, and should be omitted.
    In both additions, you can specify a field <f i > dynamically as the contents of a field <n i > in the form (<n i >). If <n i > is empty when the statement is executed, it is ignored. You can restrict the search to partial fields by specifying offset and length.
    <b>Using a Field Symbol</b>
    You can assign the table entry read from the table to a field symbol by specifying <result> as follows:
    READ TABLE <itab> <key> ASSIGNING <FS>.
    After the READ statement, the field symbol points to the table line. If the line type is structured, you should specify the same type for the field symbol when you declare it. This allows you to address the components of the field symbol. If you cannot specify the type statically, you must use further field symbols and the technique of assigning components of structures to address the components of the structure.
    For further information about assigning table lines to field symbols, refer to Access Using Field Symbols.
    <b>
    Examples</b>
    DATA: BEGIN OF LINE,
    COL1 TYPE I,
    COL2 TYPE I,
    END OF LINE.
    DATA ITAB LIKE HASHED TABLE OF LINE WITH UNIQUE KEY COL1.
    DO 4 TIMES.
      LINE-COL1 = SY-INDEX.
      LINE-COL2 = SY-INDEX ** 2.
    INSERT LINE INTO TABLE ITAB.
    ENDDO.
    LINE-COL1 = 2. LINE-COL2 = 3.
    READ TABLE ITAB FROM LINE INTO LINE COMPARING COL2.
    WRITE: 'SY-SUBRC =', SY-SUBRC.
    SKIP.
    WRITE: / LINE-COL1, LINE-COL2.
    The output is:
    SY-SUBRC =    2
             2        4
    The program fills a hashed table with a list of square numbers. The work area LINE, which is compatible with the line type, is filled with the numbers 2 and 3. The READ statement reads the line of the table in which the key field COL1 has the same value as in the work area and copies it into the work area. SY-SUBRC is set to 2, because the contents of field COL2 were different.
    DATA: BEGIN OF LINE,
    COL1 TYPE I,
    COL2 TYPE I,
    END OF LINE.
    DATA ITAB LIKE SORTED TABLE OF LINE WITH UNIQUE KEY COL1.
    DO 4 TIMES.
      LINE-COL1 = SY-INDEX.
      LINE-COL2 = SY-INDEX ** 2.
    INSERT LINE INTO TABLE ITAB.
    ENDDO.
    CLEAR LINE.
    READ TABLE ITAB WITH TABLE KEY COL1 = 3
                    INTO LINE TRANSPORTING COL2.
    WRITE:   'SY-SUBRC =', SY-SUBRC,
           / 'SY-TABIX =', SY-TABIX.
    SKIP.
    WRITE: / LINE-COL1, LINE-COL2.
    The output is:
    SY-SUBRC =    0
    SY-TABIX =       3
             0        9
    The program fills a sorted table with a list of square numbers. The READ statement reads the line of the table in which the key field COL1 has the same value as in the work area and copies it into the work area. Only the contents of COL2 are copied into the work area LINE. SY-SUBRC is zero, and SY-TABIX is 3, because ITAB is an index table.
    DATA: BEGIN OF LINE,
            COL1 TYPE I,
            COL2 TYPE I,
          END OF LINE.
    DATA ITAB LIKE SORTED TABLE OF LINE WITH UNIQUE KEY COL1.
    DO 4 TIMES.
      LINE-COL1 = SY-INDEX.
      LINE-COL2 = SY-INDEX ** 2.
      INSERT LINE INTO TABLE ITAB.
    ENDDO.
    READ TABLE ITAB WITH KEY COL2 = 16  TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS.
    WRITE:   'SY-SUBRC =', SY-SUBRC,
           / 'SY-TABIX =', SY-TABIX.
    The output is:
    SY-SUBRC =    0
    SY-TABIX =       4
    The program fills a sorted table with a list of square numbers. The READ statement reads the line of the table in which the key field COL1 has the value 16. It does not use the table key. No fields are copied to a work area or assigned to a field symbol. Instead, only the system fields are set. SY-SUBRC is zero, since a line was found, and SY-TABIX is four.
    DATA: BEGIN OF LINE,
    COL1 TYPE I,
    COL2 TYPE I,
    END OF LINE.
    DATA ITAB LIKE HASHED TABLE OF LINE WITH UNIQUE KEY COL1.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <FS> LIKE LINE OF ITAB.
    DO 4 TIMES.
      LINE-COL1 = SY-INDEX.
      LINE-COL2 = SY-INDEX ** 2.
    INSERT LINE INTO TABLE ITAB.
    ENDDO.
    READ TABLE ITAB WITH TABLE KEY COL1 = 2 ASSIGNING <FS>.
    <FS>-COL2 = 100.
    LOOP AT ITAB INTO LINE.
      WRITE: / LINE-COL1, LINE-COL2.
    ENDLOOP.
    The output is:
             1        1
             2      100
             3        9
             4       16
    The program fills a hashed table with a list of square numbers. The READ statement reads the line of the table in which the key field COL1 has the value 2 and assigns it to the field symbol <FS>. The program then assigns the value 100 to component COL2 of <FS>. This also changes the corresponding table field.

    Simply run
    TRUNCATE TABLE <table_name>;
    for each of those tables.
    Make sure to either logon as SAP<SID> or provide the owner of the tables with the statement.

    > Question:
    > how to create index manually after system copy?
    The problem here was the large INITIAL size clause.
    If there is enough freespace at all in the tablespace this should work:
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "D010TAB~0" ON "D010TAB" ( "MASTER", "TABNAME" ) TABLESPACE PSAPSR3700 NOLOGGING COMPUTE STATISTICS PARALLEL;
    If I'm not wrong, the second index is just vice versa:
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "D010TAB~1" ON "D010TAB" (  "TABNAME", "MASTER" ) TABLESPACE PSAPSR3700 NOLOGGING COMPUTE STATISTICS PARALLEL;
    In general it is really not a good idea to skip the creation of unique indexes...
    regards,
    Lars

  • Homogeneous System Copy on Windows/Oracle.

    Hi!
    I have to start a project on Homogeneous System Copy on Windows/Oracle.
    I have gone through the System Copy documents by SAP and also verious SAP note (spl. 659509 ). But still I am not really clear about the whole process.
    As per my understanding, as follows :
    1. Export the Database from Source Host. <b>But HOW? Wheather I have to use any System Tool from SAP ?  </b>
    <b>Copy that to Target Host.</b>
    2. <b>Install the CI in Target Host. As I am working on SAP 4.7 1.10 (SR1) with Kernel 6.20  (NU).</b>
    3. At the time of installation of DI in Target Host give the path of Exoprt fileset.
    My question :
    <b>1. Wheather my plan is right or needs change?</b>
    2. What type of copy it will be :
    a) Homogeneous System Copy using Online / Offline Database Backup.
    b) Homogeneous System Copy using R3LOAD Procedure.
    c) Homogeneous System Copy using R3COPY Procedure.
    <b>3. Do I really need to download/order any system copy tool from SAP?</b>
    My Source :
    SAP 4.7 on Windows 2000 with Oracle 8.1.7 with noarchivelog mode.
    Terget :
    SAP 4.7 on Windows 2003 with Oracle9.2.0.8
    All Kernel : 620 (NU)
    Looking for an urgent solution.
    With Kind Regards,
    Pratip Bhattacharyya

    Hi! Umesh,
    I have found 2 errore .
    1)  ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 2560 in tablespace PSAPTEMP
    2)  DbSl Trace: ORA-1403 when accessing table SAPUSER
    Two things I want to mention here.
    1.  I donot know the passwd of datadase users of Source . I have used different passwd for Target DB userd.
    2. Used defferent SAP SID. Source : ID4 and Target : IDN
    Is that cause any harm?
    Here is the detail logs of those two files.
