  • Copy a file from URL to local HDD

    Hi,
    I've got 2 problems:
    1. I'm an absolute beginner and an german-speaking user of this forum
    2. I want to copy a file from within a signed applet (with full access permissions) from a URL on the server to a local directory on the client. It works with .txt or .ini files, but not with .dll or .exe. The .exe file has only 1KB instead of the 5MB and contains only something like "-1". Help!!
    Here's what i made:
    URL updateurl = new URL(getCodeBase() + "testfile.exe");
    InputStream in = updateurl.openStream();
    FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream("C:\\temp\\testfile.exe");
    byte[] buf = new byte[4096];
    int len;
    while ((len = in.read(buf)) > 0)
         out.write(buf, 0, len);
    out.close();
    in.close();
    Thanks for any help!

    From looking at the code I can't see any blatant errors.
    The only thing I can think of, is: is your code wrapped by a try/catch block which you are ignoring?
    The reason I ask, is that maybe you are not downloading the file you intended in the first place. The reason I think this is because of the line:
    URL updateurl = new URL(getCodeBase() + "testfile.exe");Shoudn't there be a separator between getCodeBase() and testfile.exe? Only a guess, since getCodeBase may already return the separator.

  • How to access a url only from APEX

    Hi all.
    We have a system that is accesible from internet, We are trying to secure the access to this system via login from APEX in order to deny the access to the URL if the request is not from our APEX app.
    We configured the corresponding hostname in our APEX server and some firewall rules, but when a client clicks the link the hostname is looked in the client's computer, so is never found.
    Is there any way to make this hostname resolution in the server's side?
    Thanks in advance, regards.

    sKC,
    You may need to explain yourself in more detail
    "How do I access a URL only from APEX?"
    If you are trying to limit access to "mynormal.server.com" by seeing if the end user clicked on a link from "myapex.server.com", the answer is:
    You don't.
    Trying to limit access to a web page based on how you got there is a really really bad form of security due to the false sense of security it implies.
    It is so bad that it is better to not even try.
    reason:
    All URL requests can be easily manipulated by the client computer that is making the request.  (ie the request is easily faked.)
    The Unix utility wget can be used to fake the 'referrer' information.

    I had failed to mention in my previous comments that each time the attempted attacks took place, a blank Adobe PDF page appeared. As you suggested, I disabled the Adobe add-on and have had no further attacks. I am extremely dilligent in keeping my SuperAntiSpyware Pro, AvastAntiVirus 5.0, ThreatFire, Vista Firewall Control, Malewarebytes and Windows Defender up to date. However, after any attack I always run these in safe mode just as a precaution. I had suspected the Adobe drop-in may have been the culprit because of the page that appeared and your suggested fix has in fact fixed it!
    Thank you again for your unselfish time in coming to my rescue. "Deaf Dave"

    Hello Deaf Dave.
    It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
    If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.
    Also, it's possible that your system is infected with malware. To scan for malware, install, update and run these programs ''in this order''. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in their "free mode", but the features you'll miss are not really needed to find and remove the problem you have. Remember that ''not all programs detect the same malware''!

  • How can I block a url from accessing my browser?

    I want to block a url from accessing my browser. The url in question, djbsaqja.co.cc, flashed a pop-up saying that my computer was infected with a dangerous virus and that "Windows Security" required that I download a program to fix it.
    I maintain realtime virus protection, but ran a manual scan anyway, which proved that I was clean.
    The url listed above would not let me out of an unending chain of popups, demanding that I download their tool.
    Instead, I opened a new Firefox session (it was the only way I could re-enter Firefox without this rogue url taking control), then cleared out my history, cache and cookies.
    I'm clean...and now I'm back in control with, I believe, no damage. But since I wrote down the url, is there a way that I can block from accessing my browser again?
    Thanks for the help.

    You can add it to your hosts file - http://allthingsmarked.com/2006/08/28/howto-block-websites-using-the-hosts-file
    Sites like that pop up on a regular basis, but will often get taken down quite quickly. I have just checked and the site appears to have been taken down.

    I have a user name on my computer that was tied in with the domain name of the server at my workplace. I would access Firefox under this user name. I have now changed jobs, and for good and obvious reasons can no longer utilize my previous company associated username.
    I have set up a new username on the same computer. When I access Firefox, all of my old bookmarks are gone, because Firefox does not recognize me under the new username as the same person. In the meantime, I have established new bookmarks under the new username.
    I have copied my profile from Firefox under my old username. Can I have two profiles under my new username and pick which one I want to use at that time when accessing Firefox?
    I am running Windows 7 Professional, with 4 gig ram, Intel i3 CPU, 2.13 GHz, 64 bit operating system, Firefox 7.0.1

    I guess you are trying to connect from the R3/ECC to the Portal Server.
    Are these two systems in the same network? Do you have usernames (valid and fully authorized) in both systems? What is the OS on which these two systems are housed?
    Please provide these details to proceed further.

    Can't copy a song from library into playlist. Screen message says "song can't be found." I know it's there, how do I access it?.

    I fixed this issue (with help from tech support) and it involved several things.
    After adding a song to iTunes, right-click on the song in iTunes and select "Update iTunes Match."
    OR go to the iTunes menu-->Store-->Update iTunes Match.
    Maybe that's the reason, it just hadn't updated to the cloud.
    OR maybe it's not a high-enough bitrate file.   This happens to me because most of my tunes are home-recorded.
    Sometimes converting to .mp3 or Create AAC version might work. (You do this with a right-click in iTunes, and then you will want to remove the original file from iTunes.)
    There is an iTunes Preferences setting, under General Preferences called Import Settings.  Try setting it to AAC Encoder and iTunes Plus.   That (I think) causes imports to be slightly better quality.
    Good luck!  The tech support person at Apple is requesting that a knowlege-base article be written about this.

  • GRC AC 10:How to generate Access Rule? No output from User or Risk Analysis

    Hello Gurus,
    We have done configuration of GRC AC 10, and uploaded files via
    SoD rules -->Upload Rules
    After that we generated SoD rules for Risk Id : B001 and B002
    Now when we go to NWBC --> Reports & Analytics >Access Dashboards>Access Rule Library
    The report shows (for Group Rule level : Action)
    Number of Active rules : 0
    Number of Disabled Rules : 0
    Number of Functions :  151
    Where as for Group Rule level : Action Risk
    The report shows
    Number of Active Risk : 42
    Disabled risk : 161
    Nmr. of functions : 151 .
    When we perform Risk Analysis at User Level or Role Level, the output is empty !!!
    Note: All the background jobs have run successfully.
    Also the SoD files also have been uploaded successfully.
    Will you please guide how can i activate the "rules" for the uploaded risk ??
    regards,
    Victor

    Hello Victor/ Inder,
    For Risk ID B001functions are BS02 and BS11 if you open any one of them you can see system maintained as SAP BASIS which is SAP_BAS_LG (logical connector group).
    Post installation you can check in SPRO>Governance, Risk and Compliance-> common Component---> integration framework-> maintain connector and connector types->select SAP and click Define connector Group.
    BUSINESS     Business Roles     SAP
    SAP_BAS_LG     SAP Basis     SAP
    SAP_CRM_LG     SAP CRM     SAP
    SAP_ECC_LG     SAP ECCS     SAP
    SAP_HR_LG     SAP HR     SAP
    SAP_NHR_LG     SAP R3 - NON HR Basis Logical Group     SAP
    SAP_R3_LG     SAP R3     SAP
    SAP_SRM_LG     SAP SRM     SAP
    (If not present then manually you can create the same)
    Select SAP_BAS_LG and put connector type as SAP,  select SAP_BAS_LG and click Assign Connector group to group types as AM & LG, then click on Assign Connector to connector group and maintain you connector.
    Post this activity re generate SOD for B001 and then check for user level and role level analysis.
    Hope it will resolve your issue.

    Hi,
    NMAP gives the report for the first firewall interface it hits. In your case you have allowed tcp any any where it allows all the ports. I have mentioned only one example.... There are many in your case....
    Also NMAP results will be effective once when you directly connect to outside interface or directly on to the outside LAN.
    Regards

  • Hyperlinks Truncating on Export from Access 2007

    I have a report in Access 2007 that includes a memo field in RTF format.  Quite often part of the text in this field will include one or more hyperlinks.  The hyperlinks work fine in Access.
    I export this report to .pdf using the following line of VBA code, attached to a button on a form:
    DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, stDocName, acFormatPDF, vrtSelectedItem & "\" & title & ".pdf"
    This code works fine, and the report is exported to the selected location properly.  And if the hyperlink text all fits on one line in the .pdf file, then the link works correctly there, too.
    The problem is when the hyperlink text ends up being wrapped around to a 2nd line or more.  The entire link still LOOKS like a link in the .pdf file (it's still blue/underlined), but only the first line is actually a hyperlink.
    For example, if the link text were:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/
    acrobat/post!input.jspa?containterType=14
    ...then the only part that would actually be a hyperlink in the .pdf document would be "http://forums.adobe.com/community/" and the 2nd line of the link is lost.
    We have thousands of these hyperlinks all throughout our data, and many of them are more than one line long.  It is not feasible for us to shorten all of them using bit.ly.  Nor is it feasible for us to make our users copy and paste the broken links from the .pdf's into their browsers.
    So, does anyone know how to fix this so that the hyperlinks we pass to .pdf from Access remain complete hyperlinks, even if they are more than one line long?

    Finally figured out the solution myself, after 2 days.  It's surprisingly simple.
    If the URL is surrounded by double quotes in the data, then it works as a complete link when exported to .pdf, even if the link wraps to a 2nd line or more.  The quotes show up in the .pdf, too, but that's a small price to pay to have working links.
