Copying a UML activity diagram from 1 database to another within BPA

Is it possible to copy a UML activity diagram from one database to another database within BPA, there does not need to be a link between the original and copied diagrams? This is possible by Export/Import.
Edited by: [email protected] on 04-Mar-2009 08:34

I haven't tried this specifically with the UML Activity diagram but generally yes all models can be exported as XML and imported into another BPA database. If they are on the same server you may also use the merge capability to move models, objects and folders between DBs. For merge, you have to have the same folder structure in both DBs and and drag the thing you want to merge and drop it on the DB name.

  • How to copy a set of tables from a database to another periodically?

We have a 4 node RAC primary database(10.2.0.2) with a physical standby(10.2.0.2) on our production site. Offlate we noticed that one of the applications(APP2) is causing heavy loads due large data downloads on the primary database servers. Our primary database has 2 schemas,
    1) one being the main schema with all objects, (USER1)
    2) and the other has views that query some set of tables from the main schema. (USER2)
The application APP2 uses USER2 views to query and download huge data periodically. We need to be able to give accurate data results to APP2, but in the same time take off the load from the database, as APP2 is not our main application.
We would like to know if there are any cost effective options in oracle to do this, and if so, what is the best option? Anyone has any experience setting up something like this before?
We have thought of creating another 10.2.0.2 database on a different server and giving it regular updates(like data feeds) from the current database. The current database data changes quiet often, so the data feeds would have to be done often to keep the data current on the new database. So, we are not exactly sure how to go about it. Would a COPY command help?
    Please advice.

Our 4 node RAC is already busy with our main application, which has its connections spread across all 4 nodes.
Our main applications services are the same on all nodes and use all 4 nodes in the same way.
There are some other utilities that we run from one of the app servers that connect to only 1 of the nodes.
APP2 uses all 4 servers, which is again controlled by connection pooling and distributes the load.Wouldn't separate services be more beneficial here? If APP2 is locked down to one node during normal operation, that ensures that other connections aren't going to be competing for hardware with APP2 on 3 of the 4 nodes. If APP2 is generating less than 25% of the total load, you can let the other applications use whatever hardware resources are left idle on the node APP2 is locked down to.
By Large data downloads, I meant both increase in network traffic and the CPU load on the database nodes.
We are already using resouce manager to limit the resources allocated to USER2 that APP2 uses.
And we have also limited the large downloads to take place in the early hours of the day when the traffic from our main application is less.
But this has still not been optimal for the usage requirements for APP2. APP2 is also doing queries all through the day, but has a limit for the number of rows downloaded during peak hours. Can you explain a bit more about why using Resource Manager hasn't been sufficient? That's normally a pretty good way to prevent one hungry user from drastically affecting everyone else. Perhaps you just need to tweak the configuration here.
Logical Standby seems a good option. But we need to keep our physical standby in place. Is it possible to have a logical standby and a physical standby? (ofcourse on separate servers)Sure. You can have as many standby servers of whatever type you'd like.
Could we use a COPY command to copy data for the set of tables to a new database? Or is that also a complex option? You could, yes. COPY is a SQL*Plus command that has been depricated for copying data between Oracle databases for quite a while. It only works from SQL*Plus and would only be designed for one-time operations (i.e. there is no incremental COPY command). I can just about guarantee that's not what you want here.
How do materialized views work? Wouldn't they still reside on the main database? Or is it possible to have remote materialized views? You probably don't want materialized views, but if you decide to go down that path
    - You'd create materialized view logs on the base tables to track changes
    - You'd create materialized views on the destination database that select data over a database link back to the source database
    - You'd put those materialized views into one or more refresh groups that are scheduled to refresh periodically
    - During a refresh, assuming incremental refreshes, the materialized view logs would be read and applied to the materialized views on the destination system to update the materialized views.

  • UML Activity Diagram

    Hello everybody,
Is there a way to add events and interrupts in an activity diagram in jDeveloper? I already saw that there is no way to draw swimlanes.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
As far as I know, the UML diagrams was released in Visio 2013 Professional. It is introducing all new shapes that look great and allow you to create modern, professional diagrams. The UML diagrams match the UML 2.4 standard, and templates are available for
the five most popular diagram types: Class, Sequence, Use Case, Activity and State.
    http://blogs.office.com/2012/10/22/professional-flexible-beautiful-uml-content/
Thus, if we still need to use UML 2.2 template which include:  Signal Send and Signal Receive shapes, please try the workaround:
Copy the "UML Activity Stencil" from Visio 2010 and load it in Visio 2013.

  • UML Activity Diagram does not have Signal (Send and Receive) Shapes

I'm using Visio 2013 Professional and I created a new UML Activity Diagram.
On the left, on the UML Activity Stencil, I have only 9 shapes. I cannot find the Signal Send and Signal Receive shapes. I have searched on the other UML diagram types but can't find them.

  • Selecting Behavior property of the Call Behavior Action on a UML Activity Diagram

I have 16 projects in my UML solution, and I need to be able to select a Behavior in the Call Behavior Action property that is in one Activity Diagram, from a list of Activity Diagrams that are located in different projects, but still in the same overall
Solution.  Currently, it looks like I can only select Behaviors from within the same project.

This is related to TFS.  I am using Visual Studio 2013, Ultimate.
It would be more meaningful if I could insert an Activity Diagram into another Activity Diagram, which is similar to what I can do with an Activity Diagram into a Use Case Diagram.  However, TFS will not allow that.  Instead there is the option
of using the Call Behavior Action.  When I use this item from my toolbox, I can open the Properties for it and select from a list of "Behaviors" (i.e. Activity Diagrams) that are located in the same Project.  I want to select an Activity
Diagram from a different Project, but still within the same Solution.  Here is a picture:
These diagrams are all within the same project.  I want to be able to select a diagram from a different project within the same Solution.  For example, select a diagram from Cash Management as the "Behavior" for an item in the Dealer
License Project.  They are both in the same Solution, so it seems like I should be able to do that.
    Thanks for any advice.

  • How to Copy (or) Transfer data in a BLOB Table From one database to another

    Dear Members,
I want to Copy or Tranfer the data in a Table having BLOB Column from one database to another database.
The Problem is that I am using COPY Command.
    COPY from scott/[email protected] to k5esk_ldb2/k5esk_ldb2@k5_ist.world CREATE BLOB_TABLE using select * from BLOB_TABLE;
This is working only if the table is not having BLOB Column or CLOB columns.
Is there any other way to do the same.
    Appreciate any Help.
    Regards
    Madhu K

You could try using export/import utilities, but may run into tablespace issues if the tablespaces are not the same between the two databases. You can also try Data Pump using the REMAP_TABLESPACE variable if you tablespaces are different. You could also write your own export and import code...there are plenty of examples of that to copy.

  • Simple: How to copy a Table from one Database to another?

I already know how to do it by creating an identical table and then inserting the Data.
    Like so:
    SET IDENTITY_INSERT dByDtMinusC5 ON
    INSERT INTO [DB1]..T1 ([Id], [HbyD] , [K] )
SELECT [Id], [[HbyD]]] ,[K] FROM [DB2]..T2
As you can see I need to have T1 in order to copy T2 into DB1. Is there any way that I could auto create T1 and copy T2?

    Hi Bhupinder,
According to your description, you want to copy a table with Primary keys from one database to another database.
As per my understanding, I think the best method is use Transfer SQL Server Objects Task in SQL Server Integration Services. The Transfer SQL Server Objects task transfers one or more types of objects in a SQL Server database between instances of SQL Server.
Server roles, roles, and users from the specified database can be copied, as well as the permissions for the transferred objects. Indexes, Triggers, Full-text indexes, Primary keys, Foreign keys can also be copied.
To use the Transfer SQL Server Objects Task, we should create a SQL Server Integration Services Project in SQL Server Data Tools, then drag a Transfer SQL Server Objects Task to Control Flow pane. Specify SourceConnection, SourceDatabase, DestinationConnection
and DestinationDatabase for the Connection, select the table in the ObjectsToCopy category, then change CopyPrimaryKeys to True and the other corresponding properties in the task.

  • What is te best way to copy a table from a database to another?

    Hello friends:
I have two databases: an Access database and an Oracle database. I must copy the data from al tables from the Access database to the oracle database. The tables in the both databases are equal (number of columns, type, etc).
I read an resultset from acces (select * from table1) and I insert every row in the Oracle database with an while loop (while (r.next)...). It works fine when there are a few rows, but I have a table with over 200000 rows, and when I'm copying the row number 30.000, the system goes very slow...
How can I copy tables from a database to another more quickly?
    Thanks!

    CASE #1
The most efficient method would be to copy all the rows from Microsoft Access and write them to a text file using Access's native interface (not JDBC), then use Oracle's SQL Loader utility (not JDBC) to insert the data.
You can insert 200,000 rows of 80 bytes each in 30 seconds or less even on a modest Oracle system using SQL Loader. The extract from Access is very dependent on the size of the CPU and the available memory.
Hint 1: Avoid explicit or implict network traffic.
Hint 2: Extract and load from local drives rather than networked or shared drives on other services
Please note that this is done for efficiency of load, but has issues related to error checking, and operational scripting.
Anything else you do or use will be slower than the method (above).
    CASE #2
If you want to integrate this into a single JDBC program which will provide better operational management of the process, then you can simply connect to both databases in your Java program, then read the rows one at a time from Access, insert them using the Batch mechanism of JDBC to Oracle. You will also want to set the FetchSize in Oracle to a larger value then the default (i.e set it to 100 vs 10).
Hint #3 You may want to look into alternative JDBC drivers for accessing MS Access, rather than the JDBC-ODBC bridge which is not optimized for MS Access. You may also want to consider using the OCI8 driver from Oracle rather than the thin driver. Both provide Type 4 functionality but I have heard (not experienced) that the OCI8 driver is better for managing batch style of processing like yours
    Good luck!

    Hi,
select * into A1 from RDOC where Author !='System'
select *  into A2  from  RITM   where Doccode  in (select Doccode from A1 )
    select * from A1
    select * from A2
    sp_generate_inserts 'A1'
    sp_generate_inserts 'A2'
you will get Insert scripts of A1 and A2 tables .After that You 'll  Replace A1 to RDOC and A2 to RITM.
So that you can RUN this SQL srcipts any where (In any Database)
but First u have to run sp_generate_inserts  Storeprocedure(from websites) .
    drop table A1,A2

  • Different ways to Transfer data from one database to another database

    Hi all,
What are the ways to transfer data from one database to another database. With the following options, i Can transfer data as far as i know. Please
correct me if i am wrong or tell me if there is any other options are available.
    1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.
    2) By using Export and Import utilities.
I told first one to my interviewer, he told, its strange, by using, COPY command also can we transfer data ? As far as i know, we can transfer data. Am i right ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pal

transfer data from one database to another database. You mean store the data of one to another?
    1) Create database link/connection string and using this string and COPY command, we can transfer data.every SELECT on a DB-link is transfering data. And you can have all kind of transfers and store on the e.g CTAS of materialized views or.... the SQL*PLUS COPY :
The COPY command is not being enhanced to handle datatypes or features introduced with, or after Oracle8i. The COPY command is likely to be made obsolete in a future release.
But there are many others. Check for ORACLE Streams, and the "COPY" your interviewer was mentioning is about the operating file system COPY right? That's transportable tablespaces.
