How to add a date suffix to the log file name

This is what i did
1) created a dummy file in c drive
2) copy pasted below lines, you can play around more with the format
set _my_datetime=%date%_%time%
set _my_datetime=%_my_datetime: =_%
set _my_datetime=%_my_datetime::=%
set _my_datetime=%_my_datetime:/=_%
set _my_datetime=%_my_datetime:.=_%3) Rename the file from dos
ren some.txt dummy_file_%_my_datetime%.txt4) Here goes the output
C:\dir
dummy_file_Mon_09_20_2010_161347_21.txt
Most of the code i copied from above url, you can tweak a little bit based on ur requirement and format.

Hi there,
the headline says basically all: Is there a way to collect the log files from a Time Capsule 7 AirPort from time to time? They are overwritten quite soon but I want a complete log of all activities to my access point.
The AirPort Utility says something about SNMP. Is this the way to go? Some kind of demon on my Mac that retrieves and saves the logs like every two days?
I want to copy the access logs, I am not interested in Time Machine backup logs.
Thanks. There is a way to do this via Syslog. On the Logging & Statistics panel (within the AirPort Utility), you can point the AirPort's system logs to a Syslog "server."
This would require a "dedicated" network client to receive the logs.
Unfortunately, setting up a Syslog server is a bit intensive initially, but is simple to operate and maintain.
Please check out this Apple Support Communities thread: Directing Syslog message to a file

Hi,
I need to copy a file (latest) that is present in Temp folder to AppData/Roaming folder. But I know that the file name starts with "MSI" and the file extension is ".log" (like MSI*.log where * is a random hexadecimal number). Also, I need
to get the path for Temp and AppData/Roaming programmatically. After copying to the destination, I need to rename the file as well. I am very new to VB Script. How can I do this? Can you please give me some examples?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks
PrasadCan you post your script? What have you done so far.
I recommend a little research in how to use default folders although they will help onl;y the logged in user.
Why do you thing you need to do this: You can always tell the installer to place the log file in a place other than temp.

Can we reduce the size of the disk having the Log files for a Dag Database
There is an issue with disk space filling up for 4 databases part of the same DAG, each having 1 non lagged passive copy.
The Disks containing the log files are from the VSphere Storage. The Disk size was temporarily expanded to avoid any outages.
There is a full backup running currently, which is expected to clear the transaction logs on completion and that should be reducing the disk space utilized.
The storage guys want to know whether they can reclaim the temporarily expanded disk size. i.e reduce the disk space from the storage containing Log Files without affecting anything.
I couldn't find any documentation on this specific requirement, and want to confirmThere is an issue with disk space filling up for 4 databases part of the same DAG, each having 1 non lagged passive copy.

I dont see why not. Once the logs are cleared, Exchange doesnt care.

Robocopy Log File - Skipped files - Interpreting the Log file
Hey all,
I am migrating our main file server that contains approximately 8TB of data. I am doing it a few large folders at a time. The folder below is about 1.2TB. Looking at the log file (which is over 330MB) I can see it skipped a large number of files,
however I haven't found text in the file where it specifies what was skipped, any idea on what I should search for?
I used the following Robocopy command to transfer the data:
robocopy E:\DATA Z:\DATA /MIR /SEC /W:5 /R:3 /LOG:"Z:\Log\data\log.txt"
The final log output is:
Total Copied Skipped Mismatch FAILED Extras
Dirs : 141093 134629 6464 0 0 0

I assume some are files that are in use but others may be permissions issues, does the log file detail why a file is not copied?
TIA
CarlHi.
Files that are skipped are files that already exists. Files that are open/permissions etc will be listed under failed. As Noah said use /v too see which files were skipped. From robocopy /?:
:: Logging Options :
/V :: produce Verbose output, showing skipped files.

What are the log files created while running a mapping?
Hi Sasi , I have a doubt who actually generates the " Log Events ". Is it the Log Manager or Application services ?
Hi Anitha, The Integration service will be generate two logs when the mapping runs 1) Session log -- Has the details of the task ,session errors and load statistics..2) Workflow log -- Has the details of the workflow processing, and workflow errors.. The workflow log will be generated when the workflow started and the session log will be generated once the session intiated. For more detail Please refer the infa help docs... Normally the services will generate log ex: IS and RS will log their activity... The below process will happen the when the workflow inititated..[Copied fropm infa help docs] 1.#The Integration Service writes binary log files on the node. It sends information about the sessions and workflows to the Log Manager.2.#The Log Manager stores information about workflow and session logs in the domain configuration database. The domain configuration database stores information such as the path to the log file location, the node that contains the log, and the Integration Service that created the log.3.#When you view a session or workflow in the Log Events window, the Log Manager retrieves the information from the domain configuration database to determine the location of the session or workflow logs.4.#The Log Manager dispatches a Log Agent to retrieve the log events on each node to display in the Log Events window. No, I didn't optimize any media though I've rendered proxies for all media. I have about 14TB of R3D footage on five external harddrives, it's a feature. The proxies and sound files which I copied to the library makes the library file that big. I can't consolidate all media, as far as I know, since I don't have a drive even close to the size of all the R3D footage.
In terms of copying I have only tried the good old "copy/paste" method. I have never used any of those programs you mentioned. Can those programs be used to copy certain files or will they copy an entire drive?
Will the automatic back-ups FCPX does every 15 minutes save my timelines if something would go wrong and the library file would dissappear? I don't fully understand how that back-up process works. I could always render new proxies, though it would take time, but re-editing all those timelines is a whole other thing. Important to note here is that I'm used to Premiere Pro and the "old" FCP which is why all of this is so confusing.
Thank you again! -

The LOG file \work\dev_jcontrol is not present; even thou I have restarted the server:

Any idea?Hi,
cluster ID is just combination of below parameters:
In our case, my source system (ABC) was refreshed from another system (XYZ) recently
so while installing target system ( DEF), I changed the source system details from ABC to XYZ in below file and retried the
SAPinst screen. System copy has got completed successfully.
Open the file <installation directory>/jmt/cluster_id_switch.properties and edit the line
src.ci.sid=
src.ci.instance.number=
src.ci.instance.name=
src.ci.host=
If in your case source system is not refreshed recently; You may try with functional host name or OS host name etc. details for above parameters.
If this does not work check details of "SAP Note 966752 - Java system copy problems with the Java
Migration Toolkit" which says almost the same thing but I could not get that as the statements related to
box number are bit confusing and contradictory.
Cheers !!!

i backup my iphone on my pc and copy backup file into drive D then i setup new OS on my pc. after that i copy the backup file into itunes backup folder but itunes can't find the backup file to restore my iphone. how can i restore my iphone?
Don't you just love changes in interfaces?
I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer. -
I am running windows xp sp2 and I have set my dowload location under (tools/options), but when I select an MP3 file to download, firefox does NOT copy the file to my chosen location on my HD - instead, it opens up a new window with a makeshift "player" and begins loading the player with the MP3 file. The problem is that I have no idea where on my system firefox has copied this file to, so, I cannot leave and come back later and play this MP3 file using winamp. I have to listen to it right then or lose it - if I close that new window (with that puny little "player"), then I lose the download, wherever firefox put it on my PC (I got no idea where it is). This is all under firefox 25.0
I am also running FIrefox 12.0 on an older windows 2000 machine and that works perfectly - I can download any MP3 file I want, and firefox 12.0 (on win2k, sp4) downloads it to my chosen location (on my HD), and it gives me the download window so I can watch its progress and have some control over pause, and resume, and, when it is done, the download window offers me the option to "open containing folder" so I can make sure it got to where I wanted it. In other words, Firefox 12.0 on WIn2k, sp4 works better than firefox 25.0 on winxp sp2!!!!! What gives? I went through and set up my options for XP just like I did with Win2k and it all looks good, but firefox 25.0 just ignores my chosen location and always defaults to give me that makeshift player and I am not able to actually copy the mp3 file to my harddrive - it makes firerox 25.0 almost unusable since downloading mp3 files is a big part of my firexfox use - please help - I am not able to upgrade windows at this time, and, since firefox 12.0 still works fine on win2k, I can't understand what happened at firefox?Phillipp,
I tried it again using "save link as", and this time it actually worked! I just now downloaded several more using the "save link as" option, and it works perfectly. Thanks. Problem solved.

How do I import an iweb domain file from an ibook (OS 10.4) to an imac (OS 10.73)?
I copied the domain file from my ibook to my imac, but when I double-click on the file, it doesn't open in iweb.In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. Then place the domain file in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

I have completely uninstalled the HRC, and download from server install again -- still doesn't work with exactly same error.
this matter only happens on this PC, when user try same thing on other PC, it works.
so i think it not relate to server or account. -

-RagulRam,
Is this a custom or standard concurrent program?
Was this working properly before? If yes, what changes have been done recently?
Did you try to relink the concurrent program executable file and see if this helps? Also, you could enable trace/debug and submit the request again and see if more details are collected in the logs -- See (Note: 296559.1 - FAQ: Common Tracing Techniques within the Oracle Applications 11i/R12).
