Count Hits

When running CTX_QUERY.COUNT_HITS I am returned the number or records in a database that returned hits. How can I count the number of within each record that contains the hit?

You want to know how many times a term (e.g. 'Java') appears in a particular document from the result list? We don't have a function for that. But you could implement something very similar using ctx_doc.highlight or ctx_doc.markup and count the hits.

You can do a count_query on the block for which you want to get the no. of records and then use a get_block_property('<your_block>',query_hits) to get the value.
For ex.

Count Hits not displaying the list in Oracle 10g

Hi all,
I have a form that is been converted into ORacle 10g from Forms 6i. When the count hits is executed from the action > Query menu, the no of records that will be fetched is not displayed, instead "press F7 for query, and F8 to execute query" is displayed. The same form in 6i works fine.
Please let me know, is there any settings in Oracle 10g related to this, or a way out to solve this.

Thanks for your suggestion.
I did compile using both the methods (compile_all=yes on linux and also compile all and generating the .fmx through Form builder), but both in cases, the result is the same, no count is displayed.
I have tried with F12 also but did not get the count.
Any Suggestions?

How to count hits on external navigation nodes ?

Hi there,
our navigation is a mix of PCD generated navigation nodes and those generated by an external navigation connector.
Now we can count hits on the PCD nodes (which are basically related to iviews) using "Portal activity report" .
BUT how could we count the hits on the "external" nodes ?
Any ideas ?

Counter(Hit or Miss)

Hi All
i have code which working.In exiting code i show the Url name and Clint Ip on Frame which is open by client machine.That's no problem...
Now i want to add some more thing,like showing counter(Hit or miss) on the frame.Hit or Miss means Url open or not....

I've been surfing on and off for a year or so. looking to how to access the hits. I gave up and than tried to insert a html counter and of course that didnt work. For a user friendly program, this is one thing that I am missing. Please end my **** and tell me how to access my iweb counter hits. Thank you.

Are/were you not able to view the counter on your web page? Viewing the count on your web page is the only info that iWeb's counter can give you. If you intend on using iWeb after MMe has been shutdown the following may be of interest to you:
It is now known that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:

◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

Count Hits Hits Returned??

When I enter a query, and select the count hits menu item, it returns the number of records I would expect (entering same query in SQL+). However, when I start to browse the returned rows, I can't figure out what it is returning. One query is to return ~3000 rows, but I can only browse through 10. Another query lets me see 672 out of 5711. What is going on? My form is relatively simple... a few text fields, a few poplists and several check boxes. If I set all the lists and checkboxes, I can browse through all the records just fine.

maybe wrong setting of other values for poplist/checkbox? if you think you set this properly and don't have in any record value not in defined list then i recomend to look at query forms ran (:system.last_query) and try it in sql*plus ...

Analytics - not counting hits for Images on Portlets

Hello,
We have several portlet with images on them. We also use Analytics 10.3.0. Analytics picks up an image load as a 'hit'. So our top 5 portlets are wrongly showing up as the ones with images because they load with every page refresh - not a user click.
I read it is counting as a click because it is gatewayed - do not publish the images in the same areas as the published content.
So I created a new virtual directory outside our published content site but in the same website as the portal, and changed the publishing target to 'Publish images to a separate location'. Our published content is in a folder called publishedcontent and the images are to be published to ptscimages (separate) folders.
If I republish all the content - will image loads no long register as hits in Analytics?
Anyone else get around this issue?

You need to remove gatewayed links to things like images to prevent additional counts. I believe you're doing it correctly by offloading images to a separate location. As long as those images aren't gatewayed, you won't get additional counts for them. The other bonus is you don't bog your publisher server/redirector down as much for those requests.

Visitor Hit Counter

Need help, I would like to add visitor hit counter to my web
page, I have done some searching and have found may service that
will count for you but I would prefer to insert the code. I found
some JavaScript code but it only counts the number of times I have
been into the site, I want to count every hit to the home page and
since I am new to all of this I need some simple code, any ideas?

Hello LGW,
First off I would recommend that you stay away from having a
page count icon
on your website. Visitors to your website really don't care
how many other
visitors preceded them and most are savvy enough now to know
that these page
counts mean very little anyway since they count every hit
from every source.
Also, having a page count displayed on your website
unfortunately screams
amateur. It pretty much ranks up there with the running dog
animated image,
or the old blink tag.
On the other hand it is extremely important to know how many
visitors are
coming to your site where they come from and how effective
your site might
be by engaging visitors and keeping them on your site. Simply
counting hits
can't do this. Fortunately most web hosts make some sort of
stats engine
available to their customers. Check with your Web host to see
if they offer
this feature and if so how to access this information. If
they don't offer
this feature I would recommend finding a host that does
because most good
commercial hosts offer a very robust stats engine for their
customers. You
can also use a service such as Google analytics. The downside
to this
however is like-it-or-not, using this service you end up
sharing a lot of
your personal site traffic information with Google and in the
agreement he
signed to use these services you are basically giving Google
permission to
use this information however they wish. If this doesn't
bother you then
Google analytics is a great service, but I prefer the stats
engines offered
by most votes as this gives you the same information without
an invasion of
your privacy or private data.

Reset waste ink counter on Epson730 on Mac10.7.5?

Using my Mac 10.7.5, does anyone know of a download that will reset the waste ink counter on my Epson Artisan 730 printer. I have changed the waste ink pads, but my 730 printer has locked me out until I change the waste ink counter back to 0. The printer screen message is:" A printer's ink pad is at the end of its life.Please contact Epson Support. Turn Off." Epson support says go to an Epson Service Center and have the machine serviced. The Service Center charges over $100 to do a reset. I found a reset program online but it was only used on PCs not Macs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, to get my printer back in service.

First, just to declare an interest in this as I sell a related product and solution...
That out of the way, to answer your question there are Windows only utilities that will work to reset the printers waste ink counter and just need to be used to complete the reset. Once reset the printer can then be returned to the MacOS machine and not need the windows machine again (well, not until the waste counter hit maximum again).
Alternatively there's a MacOS compatible pay-per-reset option in the form of a utility called iWIC. This requires the purchase of a one-time digital key to complete the reset itself but the utility can be used without a key to read the waste counters and get some other information from the printer.

One critical thing to note though is that resetting and then ignoring the waste ink is a bit of a daft thing to do so if you do decide to reset, then consider replacing the waste pads or fitting something like a Printer Potty to you don't later discover you need a new carpet, etc...

Iterate through the lines and count the opening and closing curly braces. Whenever you see an opening one, increase the counter, when you see a closing one, decrease the counter. When the counter hits 0 again, you reached the end of the method.
I assume you know how to count lines while moving through a text line by line.

Portal Activity Report - could not see the latest iview /pages hits.

I have configured my own iviews where they will display the 2 weeks iviews/pages that are accessed by users and count (hits) , but I am not able see the iview hits and iview names or pages hits or names in this Portal activity report, I could see only very old iviews not latest.
Suggest me if there are any settings or configurations that I need to make.

How to limit the range of counter using rotary encoder

Hello all!
I'm new user of labview..
I've problem to limit the range of counter by using rotary encoder..
I use DAQmx 6024e in my project..
Actually i am designing the controller for both dyno & throttle for engine testing..
The idea is, i want to vary the output of 0-10V from ni card to control the dyno & throttle..
I'm already manage to get the output from the analog output..
The problem is due to my software..
When i rotate the encoder shaft cw or ccw, it increase or decrease the voltage respectively just like i want..
But, when the counter hit minimum (0 value) it jump to the maximum count which is 16.772M (for koyo encoder that i used)..
In that case the output voltage is increase to 10V directly..
So , the question is how can i limit the range of encoder so that it only count certain minimum or maximum value even the shaft is rotate cw or ccw over it standard limit which is 0 to 16.772M count..

You'll need to do a little software workaround on the values you read from your counter. But first a little tutorial to explain *why*.
The E-series boards use 24-bit counters. When LabVIEW requests an integer count value, the count is returned in a 32-bit unsigned integer datatype, where the 24 lowest bits represent the value in the board's count register. The upper 8 bits are *always* 0's.
The count register can increment from 0 to 16 million plus (2^24 - 1), then it must "roll over" back to 0 again just like an odometer. Similarly, when it decrements past 0, it next goes to the max value of 2^24 -1 as you observed.
So we need a little software workaround that'll convert (2^24 -1) to (-1) and (2^24 -2) to (-2), etc. The way to do it is to first detect whether the highest bit is a 1. One way is to compare whether the count value is >= 2^23, making sure to use integers to do the comparison. Whenever the value is >= 2^23, subtract 2^24 from it to create your new count value which will then decrement 3,2,1,0,-1,-2,-3, etc. as desired.
Here's a link to a similar explanation. Couple more notes too. First, if this is a continuously rotating encoder, you may still encounter a discontinuity when the revised count value crosses the +/- 2^23 boundary. Second, direct connection of a quadrature encoder to an E-series board isn't recommended because of unrepeatability when measureing direction changes.
