Count instances of a report

Hi,
How to find the total number of instances of a scheduled webi/deski report from the Audit Universe? If we count the total number of events with Scheduling Succeeded we may miss the report instances that have been deleted from the repository. So is there a way to count the total number of instances of each report?

where si_kind = 'webi' and si_children>12
order by si_children DESC
identifies reports and their counts which is very useful.
But can you also suggest if we can find the folder name where the report is located ?
or do we have to pass the SI_ID of the parent folder 'SI_PARENT_FOLDER' ?

Pass parameters to a report instance, or filter an instance of a report

Hi,
I am using Web Elements as linked reports with no problems for on demand reports but I need to run an instance of a report and then use a web elements/opendocument link to a subset of that data.
Basically I have a report on a college that drills down to campus and then course level. If I have an on demand subreport (via web elements link) to a course, linking course code then it brings up the 20 or so students on that report on the fly - taking < 30 seconds.
The problem is that I need this at Campus level as well. If I do it on the fly by linking on Campus instead of course, it times-out due to the large numbers of student records in the detail level.
If I change the link from the main report to point to the instance of the report I get all records, not just the campus I need (I get all campuses).
I then put in parameters to just select the required campus within the Instance of the report that is run for all campuses. The Instance is created with Parameters set to wildcard values, so that the parameters are available to pass values. I have also tried running the subreport without parameters, but it just displays all records and ignores parameters passed in (unsurprisingly).
I have had other reports working with linked parameters before, but only to the .rpt report - not to an instance.
The report works, but again all reports are displayed because when I checked the parameters they are shown as wildcards, as used when creating the instance, NOT the parameters I am trying to pass to the instance.
If I change the link to go to the Param Instance instead of the last instance (sInstance=Param), then I get an error because the report instance was created with wildcard parameters but the link has campus set, so there is no matching instance as far as Crystal is concerned.
An approximation of the link used is below:
http://...opendocument.aspx?sType=rpt&NAII=N&iDocID=1234&sInstance=Last&lsSAcadPeriod=07/08&lsSparamCampus=E
I cannot simply run an instance of the report for each Campus as there is are additional layers I have left out of this example for clarity (School, CampusType etc).
I need a solution that either allows parameters to work with instances of reports, or filter records in instances of reports.
I hope I have explained this clearly enough - please let me know if not, or if you have any other questions.

webelements 2.3 will not work seemlessly, unfortunately, with xir3.
in xir3 the dhtml viewer has changes in it that are more web 2.0.
things that will not work and are deprecated for webelements & xir3 are the functions in WEViewer. this is due to the toolbar in the new viewer being a widget as opposed to a set of divs. however, opendocument for xir3 will allow one to switch off the toolbar using an opendocument paramter and will also allow one to switch off the new style tab bar.
the new dhtml viewer also does not encase report fields & functions etc. within a form tag. many webelements controls require a form so the new design for xir3 will be to put a new WEFormStart at the top of each report using webelements. what this does is basically start a form in the viewer and allow the controls to function properly.
so in summary there are 2 changes for xir3:
a) each report using webelements must have a WEFormStart function added to the beginning of the report
b) references to WEViewer must be removed from reports that are used in xir3
there will be a new 2.4 function suite out in several weeks and this will contain the new WEFormStart as well as other syntax changes to allow reports to work in xir3.

How do I publish the latest instance of a report object ?

I have 2 report objects which are scheduled/refreshed daily around 8:00am ish.
History shows a new report instance is successfully created each day.
I have a recurring daily publication which emails them out to dynamic recipients as PDF attachements at approx 8:15am.
Trouble is the attached reports are always the same ie. the 1st/oldest saved instance.
How do I pick up the latest available instance of a report within the publication ?
Note - I am trying to avoid refreshing the reports at publication time because of locking issues.
I am also trying to avoid maintaining 2 separate publications.
Any ideas ?

See if using the id3 property of the Sound class helps you out. There's no guarantee that your sound carries the id3 info you want.

Count( ) function in BIP Report

Hello,
Can someone please help me with my count( ) function in BIP reports? I have this code in my RTF template below that only count 1 per ssImageType

The undesired result is coming up below:

What is the item that you want to count? I don't understand what you are trying to do here: count((/ssAction=/ssImageType))?
If status is closed and ssGroup = EDS OPS, and ssAction = ssImageType, then you want to count the number of records?

I'd like to add "IOMS-Crystal Report Viewer" Web Part and display latest instance.

Count distinct values in report builder

i have a situation where i have to count distinct number of customers.
i have a query which returns the list of values of bill_to_customer_id from ra_customer_trx_all table and i have to display only the number of distinct customers. i cant do this in the query because it has to be grouped and i am doing it in an aging report. i have to list the number of distinct customers in each aging period. can anybody please help me how to achieve this in reports 6i.

i have a query which lists customer_id, invoice number, amount due
so what i want is to count the distinct customer_id and display the number of distinct customers. one customer_id can be repeated any number of times but i should count it only once.

How to sync the latest instance' of scheduled report with the report link

I've scheduled one report daily and it seems to be working fine: I can view the latest instance or I can do it from the history.
But when I'm trying to open report using traditonal link to the report, it shows only content based on the last save manual event after refreshing.
I'm looking for a way to sync reports under 'View Latest Instance' link and Report link.
Any ideas?

But now I got another headache, the link to that report shows the latest instance, but 'View' link points to old report manually run and it can be confusing for customer.
What will be next logical step: remove 'View' but how or I can add time-stamp to each report to highlite when the report is produced

Showing column value as counter in sql query - report

I created a classic report with search bar based on an sql query. I would like to show the "notes" column in this query using some sort of counter and as a hyperlink to another section on the page (same idea as footnotes in a book). So if I have 10 rows and 5 have "notes". I should show 1,2,3,4,5 in the notes column for those rows and the number gets displayed as a link to another section listing the notes 1 through 5.
I was thinking of creating a hidden page item as the counter with value of 0 and then in my query doing counter+1 but i'm not sure how to do this or if i can do that...
If anyone can help or have any other ideas I would really appreciate it!!

Well, I'm doing this in VB and the subquery is dynamic. I'm passing an ADO recordset to a routine that sets up a listview to display the results. The number of columns selected can vary. My idea was to size the columns appropriately based on the size of the data. Within the display routine I could:

Multiple instances of Crystal Reports Viewer possible in WPF?

Hi, I've dragged and dropped three Crystal Reports Viewer controls on my WPF application. The goal is to be able to select up to 3 reports from a listbox and click run to generate the reports simultaneously. When I select just one report, it works fine. However when I select multiple reports it throws errors (object not found, etc). It seems there is a problem with multiple threads. Is it possible to have multiple instances of the Crystal Report Viewer display reports simultaneously? I am using version 13.0.9.1312 from the link below along with VS2013 C# WPF.

I was able to quickly cobble together a two viewer app that looks like this:

Now a couple of things to keep in mind;
1) The report engine is based on 3 Concurrent Processor License (CPL) model. Meaning you can process at most three reports at the same time. In my test, doing the above code for four reports worked, but the reports are very, very simple - and with saved data. What a "real" world reports will do, I am not sure. I do know that in a web app, the reports are queued up until one report is done and thus a CPL is freed up. You will also need to keep in mind any database connection limits, etc.
2) There is also a Print Job limit. This by default is set to 75. In a nutshell, almost anything done with a report is a Print Job. E.g.; paging, zooming, drilling, searching, etc., etc. In addition subreports are considered to be Print Jobs. Thus a report with one subreport in a detail section that returns a thousand rows of data and therefore running 1000 subreports will error out.

How to display the count distinct in a report

i have a report with multiple columns in it and with column, say A; i need to display in a calculated column B how many distinct values there are in A across the entire report; how to do that?

count(distinct TIMES.CALENDAR_MONTH_DESC by TIMES.CALENDAR_YEAR)
Count will give you how many distinct months are in year.

Problem in Getting Count answer for the report in OBIEE 11g..

I created a report in OBIEE 11g, but i'm not getting the correct answer as i expected...I'm getting answer in presentation services but the answer is wrong..
I'll explain to you with an example report: Suppose in the report "NATIONALITY COUNT IN DEPARTMENT WISE" manner
i dragged the Nationality column from per_all_people_f which is dim table and i dragged the column that i applied aggregation rule "count" for the column "nation count" from per_all_assignments_f which is fact table......If i viewed answers means i'm getting correct answer
(i.e.) nation count per Nationality..........
NATIONALITY<---------------------->NATION COUNT
AUSTRALIA 40
INDIA 20
AFRICA 10
USA 5
The above is the answer I'm getting with out including the department column from hr_all_organization_units...........
But since according to the report i need count in department wise manner, so for that along with nationality and nation count column i dragged department column from hr_all_organization_units which is dim table and also i hide that column as i dont want to view the department column in answers..........
If i clicked answers, means then I'm not getting the nation count for the nationality......... I'm getting the answer 0 for each and every nationality, if i included the hided department column

AFRICA 0
AUSTRALIA 0
INDIA 0
USA 0
I'm getting answers like the above if i include the department dimension column which is in hided manner.........................

you said about writing query in DB.......whether U meant of trying checking the query in toad..or something else..........
Since im giving only one join from dim to fact in the physical diagram........
But more than one join exist between those dim and fact, but im giving only one join mainly the primary key column of the dimension table to the fact table....Whether i need to give all the joins that exist(even if it has 2 or 3 joins between those fact and dim) tables....
If i give count distinct means it is giving count for every nation as 1....like i mentioned below

Count difference between 2 reports

Report1 : List all the computer which are member of All desktop and server clients collection
Report 2 : List hardware information of all the entries from V_GS_PC_BIOS view
Why is there a count difference between these 2 reports.?
I've also noticed that the hardware inventory information is not available on those missing computers. How long the sccm database will keep the old hardware inventory details for a specific computer even if its offline?

The missing computers were not approved in the ConfigMgr console. I approved them all and now the count difference is very minimum..

Use the following query in the query builder
SELECT
SI_NAME, SI_SCHEDULEINFO.SI_STARTTIME
FROM
CI_INFOOBJECTS
WHERE
SI_RECURRING = 1
SI_NAME: The recurring report name.
SI_SCHEDULEINFO.SI_STARTTIME: The date and time the report is scheduled to run next.
The query above will return all the recurring reports .

Adding second instance of SSRS reporting features disabled

I am running SQL Server 2008 R2 server on windows 2008 server.
On the MSSQLServer instance, I already have Reporting services configured in Native mode.
I am trying to add another instance of SSRS in integrated mode. I have followed the steps shown below. The account used has administrator privilages on the server and the MSSQLServer instance.
When I am trying to select the reporting services, the features are disabled.
Any ideas on how I can solve this issue.

Hello Nate,
You selected "Add feature to an existing instance" and in your existing instance SSRS is already installed; select "New instance" instead to install a new instance of SSRS.
