Count integers in String array
String[] s= {"xx","yy","34","35","46"};
i want to count the integers in that String array.
output: 3
Can any one suggest me how to get that one.
Try it again with this String in your
array:"2147483648"
Ok if you have to account for very large integers then you could use the following:
String[] array = {"xx","yy","34","35","46", "2147483648"};
int count = 0;
for (String s : array) {
boolean numericOnly = true;
for (char c : s.toCharArray()) {
if (c >= 48 && c <= 57) {
// Int value
else {
numericOnly = false;
if (numericOnly)
count++;
System.out.println("" + count);

How to Pass String array from Java to PL/SQL and this use in CURSOR
hi,
I cant understand how to pass Array String as Input Parameter to the Procedure and this array use in Cursor for where condition like where SYMPTOM in( ** Array String **).
This array containing like (SYMPTOM ) to be returned from the java to the
pl/sql (I am not querying the database to retrieve the information).
I cannot find an example on this. I will give the PL/SQL block
create or replace procedure DISEASE_DTL<*** String Array ***> as
v_SYMPTOM number(5);
CURSOR C1 is
select distinct a.DISEASE_NAME from SYMPTOM_DISEASE_RD a
where ltrim(rtrim(a.SYMPTOM)) in ('Fever','COUGH','Headache','Rash') ------- ***** Here use this array element(like n1,n2,n3,n4,n5..) ******
group by a.DISEASE_NAME having count(a.DISEASE_NAME) > 3 ----------- ***** 3 is no of array element - 1 (i.e( n - 1))*****
order by a.DISEASE_NAME ;
begin
for C1rec IN C1 loop
select count(distinct(A.SYMPTOM)) into v_SYMPTOM from SYMPTOM_DISEASE_RD a where A.DISEASE_NAME = C1rec.DISEASE_NAME;
insert into TEMP_DISEASE_DTLS_SYMPTOM_RD
values (SL_ID_SEQ.nextval,
C1rec.DISEASE_NAME,
(4/v_SYMPTOM), --------**** 4 is no of array element (n)************
(1-(4/v_SYMPTOM)));
end loop;
commit;
end DISEASE_DTL;
Please give the proper solution and step ..
Thanking you,
AsishI've haven't properly read through your code but here's an artificial example based on a sql collection of object types - you don't need that, you just need a type table of varchar2 rather than a type table of oracle object type:

Help with a store function that takes string array
Hi All,
I have a function that takes in two string arrays, status_array, and gender_array. You can see the partial code below. Somehow if the value for the string array is null, the code doesn't execute properly. It should return all employees, but instead it returns nothing. Any thoughts? THANKS.
for iii in 1 .. status_array.count loop
v_a_list := v_a_list || '''' || status_array(iii) || ''',';
end loop;
v_a_list := substr(v_a_list, 1, length(trim(v_a_list)) - 1);
for iii in 1 .. gender_array.count loop
v_b_list := v_b_list || '''' || gender_array(iii) || ''',';
end loop;
v_b_list := substr(v_b_list, 1, length(trim(v_b_list)) - 1);
IF v_a_list IS NOT NULL and v_b_list IS NOT NULL THEN
v_sql_stmt := 'select distinct full_name from t_employee where status in (' || v_a_list || ') and gender in (' || v_b_list || ')';
ELSIF v_a_list IS NOT NULL and v_b_list IS NULL THEN
v_sql_stmt := 'select distinct full_name from t_employee where status in (' || v_a_list || ') ';
ELSIF v_a_list IS NULL and v_b_list is not null THEN
v_sql_stmt := 'select distinct full_name from t_employee where gender in (' || v_b_list || ')';
ELSE
v_sql_stmt := 'select distinct full_name from t_employee';
END IF;
OPEN v_fullname_list FOR v_sql_stmt;
RETURN v_fullname_list;I'd first recommend trying to avoid the dynamic sql.
use an approach like
[http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:210612357425] or
[http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1625649/oracle-parameters-with-in-statement/1655743#1655743] or [http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1715978/how-to-use-an-oracle-associative-array-in-a-sql-query]
but if that isn't in scope, do a
dbms_output.putline(v_a_list) ;
dbms_output.putline(v_b_list) ;
dbms_output.putline(v_sql_stmt) ;around and see what it emits -
Finding the no of occurences of a string in a string array
hi
I have a string array which contains different strings say
for eg date
[21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 21/08/2008, 22/08/2008, 22/08/2008, 22/08/2008, 22/08/2008, 22/08/2008] etc.
for eg names
[coverage, search, search, combined-search, documentService, expand-term, id-mapping, citation, class, corporate-tree, document-update, coverage, coverage, search, search, combined-search, documentService, expand-term, id-mapping, citation, class, corporate-tree, document-update, coverage]
i need to find out the count of a particular date or name in the string array.
Also i will not be knowing what is the value that will be present in that string array.
the values are dynamic. please help to solve this.
thanks in advance
MohanIn the same way use for date,names and other as required by you..sample code for nameimport java.io.*;
public class Test {
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception{
int cnt=0;
String name[]={"coverage","abc","def","coverage", "search", "search"};
BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
System.out.println("enter name");
String rv=br.readLine();
for(int i=0;i<name.length;i++){
if(rv.equals(name)){
cnt++;
System.out.println("Name occured "+cnt+" times"); -
Sorry, if my question is too wordy.
First, the problem -- I am reading integers into my application and converting the those into strings using valueOf(). I then need to use those strings in a switch statment. The only way I could figure how to do this was to use the same String variable in each switch statement but change the the message to fit each case. My professor suggested I use an array list instead.
Second, the question -- how can I convert the String I have generated into a String Array and use the indexing of the array to correspond to the specific text for each case?
Thank you.indeed, you can't use the switch mechanism on strings.
but, if the requirement is that you convert an integer into a string and then switch on those (I don't know why...) from an array of the values, swap the String value back into an int and switch from there. -
Hey,
I have this code that take a string
EX:
Straw? No, too stupid a fad, I put soot on warts
and takes out the "?" and "," and places a space in their spot, then tokenizes the string so now all the spaces are gone (right?) then places the tokenized string into and array. Now I want that array into a string.
Pretty much what I want to go from is
this:
Straw? No, too stupid a fad, I put soot on warts
to:
StrawNotoostupidafadIputsootonwarts
here is my code
import java.util.*;
public class TrivialApplication {
public static void main(String args[])
System.out.println( "Hello World!\n" );
String hello = "Straw? No, too stupid a fad, I put soot on warts";
hello = hello.replace('?',' ');
hello = hello.replace(',',' ');
StringTokenizer tokenizer = new StringTokenizer(hello);
String[] array = new String[hello.length()];
System.out.println(tokenizer.countTokens());
System.out.println(hello.length());
int count = tokenizer.countTokens();
int x = 0;
while(tokenizer.hasMoreTokens())
array[x] = tokenizer.nextToken();
x++;
}Sweet thanks man here is the finished code. I took out the array because it was now not needed.
import java.util.*;
public class TrivialApplication {
public static void main(String args[])
System.out.println( "Hello World!\n" );
String hello = "Straw? No, too stupid a fad, I put soot on warts";
System.out.println(hello + "\n");
hello = hello.replace('?',' ');
hello = hello.replace(',',' ');
StringTokenizer tokenizer = new StringTokenizer(hello);
StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer();
int count = tokenizer.countTokens();
while(tokenizer.hasMoreTokens())
buffer = buffer.append(tokenizer.nextToken());
hello = buffer.toString();
System.out.println("New String with changes \n");
System.out.println(hello);

A few questions:
1. Which has more characters: 'dithers' or 'screen'?
2. Do you know about StringBuilder?
3. Do you know about [String.indexOf()|http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/lang/String.html#indexOf%28int%29]?
4. Have you thought about sorting your strings first?

Insert String array as label content in datagrid row through radio button C# wpf?
I have written some code for inserting label at runtime having its content set to a string array and then insert that label into a datagrid row . All of this will initiate when certain radiobuttons are checked. code is working perfectly fine. But i need
to improve this code as i am learning C#, wpf and datagrid. I know there can be a certain way to improve this code.
This code will be a nightmare when there are 50 radiobuttons.
can it be improve and how it can be? if u can explain that will be very kind of you

Use usercontrol with label and checkbox is reasonable for a datagrid control if you don't want to have too much code for those radio buttons. So I agree with andy here with that usercontrol.
So is it required that your radiobutton should be outside the datagrid?
Anyway, I think you already know that you can bind data to columns yourself. So please check the following thread:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22922533/how-do-i-automagically-bind-a-string-array-to-a-wpf-datagrid
<DataGrid Name="_dataGrid" Grid.Row="0" AutoGenerateColumns="False">
<DataGrid.Columns>
<DataGridTextColumn Header="Column 1" Binding="{Binding [0]}"/>
<DataGridTextColumn Header="Column 2" Binding="{Binding [1]}"/>
</DataGrid.Columns>
</DataGrid>
Or define the columns from code, in case you have dynamic number of columns, for example :
string[][] array = fs.CSVToStringArray();
for (int i = 0; i < array[0].Length; i++)
var col = new DataGridTextColumn();
col.Header = "Column " + i;
col.Binding = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", i));
_dataGrid.Columns.Add(col);
this.ExternalData._dataGrid.ItemsSource = array;
And for Radio button part, please see here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/397556/how-to-bind-radiobuttons-to-an-enum

From JTextField into string array
hello,
Me and my friend are currently doing a cryptography project for UNI. We are required to read in a word from the JTextField into an array. the problem is the whole word seems to be going into the array as one element. Is there any way to read in each letter in the word into a seperate element of the array??Well you can always read the value in the textfield, convert it to a character array and then as you transfer each character to your string array you add a blank string to it, so then it becomes a string.
Example:
String sentence = "hello, I am a really loooooooooong string";
String[] stringArray = new String[sentence.length()];
char[] charArray = sentence.toCharArray();
for (int count = 0; count < sentence.length(); count++)
stringArray[count] = charArray[count] + "";I hope this helps. -
How to convert String array into int.
void getSoldSms(Vector vecSoldSms)
String str[]=new String[vecSoldSms.size()];
String words[]=new String[str.length]; // String array
for(int i=0;i< vecSoldSms.size();i++)
str=(String)vecSoldSms.get(i);
} //End for
for(int i=0;i<str.length;i++)
words = str[i].split("\\|\\|");
System.out.println();
for(int j=0;j<1;j++)
int count[str.length]=Integer.parseInt(words[i]);
System.out.print(count[j]*advance_count);
} // end inner for loop
} //End for
} //End function getSoldSms
how do i convert words which is a string array into int type. i kno string can be converted into int using interger.parseint. but wat abt string arrays??? plz help me out with the above code.i did tht its still giving the same errorFor Heaven's sake, what about taking a second to try to understand the code you're copying first? If you really can't fix the error yourself, you have a more serious problem than just convertingStrings to ints.
And if you want { "1", "2", "3" } to be 123:
StringBuffer b = new StringBuffer();
for (int i = 0; i < array.length; i++) {
b.append(array);
int result = Integer.parseIn(b.toString()); -

Remove null values from string array
Hi ,
I have a string array in a jsp page which I save some values inside. After I store the values I want to print only those who are not null. How can I do this? Is there a way to delete the null values?Thank you but because I am new in programming what do you mean to use continue. Can you explain it a little bit further?<%
//go through the array to check all the values
for(int i=0; i<array.length();i++) {
//If array is null, nothing happen
if(array==null){
//leave here blank; instead use continue like:
//this will skip the statements next to it, and increments the value of i in for loop and continues to execute the body of for loop.
//The same will be repeated till the last iteration.
continue;
//If array not null, then print value in a new line
else{
out.print(array+"<br>"); //don't change the logic here
