Cp5 very slow to import even tiny SWF files

I am using Captivate 5.0.2 on 64-bit Windows 7
All was fine until recently, having not used Cp5 for a few weeks, I fired it up and tried importing a SWF file to a slide (a tiny SWF file that had been imported before with no problem, i.e. AS3, nothing fancy just text and images and a bit of animation). However, this time Captivate decided it's going to take an age to import it (2-3 minutes). Captivate says it's not responding, and the window gets greyed/faded out. Eventually it comes back to life and all is well. But it IS very, very annoying when you have several SWFs to import.
This is not limited to the one SWF file, it's every SWF file or widget (even the ones that come with Cp5) that I try to import (even a simple SWF with nothing in it), so it's definitely not the SWF itself causing this.
Things I have tried:
     - Clearing Captivate cache
     - Deleting preferences in \Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Adobe
     - Uninstalling and re-installing
Nothing has worked.
Several of my colleagues have identical machines and the same version of Captivate and everything is fine for them.

I think I have isolated it to a new Intel HD graphics driver. Unfortunately I don't think I can roll that back to the previous version. Anybody else getting problems with Intel graphics drivers (I've seen some nVidia issues).
EDIT: false alarm, it's nothing to do with the driver.

Hi there, my bt infinity 2 is very slow during the evening. From 5pm to 1am every night. I have spoken to three others who are connected to the same cabinet as me. All with the same issues.
I contacted BT about 1 month who actually got an engineer to have a look at the cabinet or something, I couldnt really hear what he said on the phone. This fixed the problem for around 3 weeks then the problem came back around 4 days ago.
The issue I am having is that BT are no use on the phone like the first guy was, they all just say they will change my wireless channel on my homehub. Even tho I said I do not use wireless. And I don't even own a homehub so good luck with that. I am asking for a nod to help me out here, as the BT call centre guys are useless now.

A possible solution to your IP Profile being wrong is to reboot your router.
Looks like you have noise on the line - possibly a line fault.
Can you confirm the speedtest was done using wired ethernet, not wireless and not power-line adapters?

We have implemented the following configuration
Domain level Windows 2000. Two member servers with Windows Server 2008 R2, sharing the same DFS namespace with, at the moment, one folder target called Home.
Users complaining that the access to different MS Office files is very slow. Even creating a new MS Word document using right click context menu takes up to 4 minutes to open. Saving, for example, one singe Excel sheet takes also few minutes.
Tested with both, MS Office 2007 and MS Office 2010. Makes no difference. When using Office 2010 you can see the message like contacting:
\\DomainName\Root\Home\UserName. Other files like TXT, JPG or PDF are not affected.
What makes the thing really weird is the fact, that the behavior described above can absolutely change after client machine being rebooted, suddenly everything becomes very fast and this condition can revert back again just after the next
reboot.
Considerations until now:
1. This has nothing to do with the file size. Even tiny files are affected.
2. AD Sites are configured correctly and the client workstations see themselves in the correct sites.
3. This is not an Office issue. If I map my folder target not as DFS, but directly as shared network drive
\\ServerName\Root\Home\UserName , everything functions as expected
What makes me suspicious: when using f.e. TCPView to monitor connections, I can see, that each time I make any operation on an office file, there will be a connection established to one of the domain controllers, sometimes to remote ones,
located in other countries. But on the other side, even if the connection is established to the nearest DC, operations are still very very slow!
Just forget to say. All clients are Windows 7

sorry for the delayed reply. The problem has been solved now and since September 19<sup>th</sup>. everything is functioning as expected.
What was done:
Deleted replication targets excepting the initial ones
Carefully recreated folder targets
Deleted and recreated replication groups
Disabled SNP features on both namespace servers
Created EnableTCPA registry entry
Checked that the following Updates are installed

Assuming that you system meets minimal requirements for CC, make sure you have enough space on your hard drive. By saying enough, I try not to cross 3/4 of its capacity but trivially saying, the more free space the better and the faster the drive the better (I've been considering an SSD drive but still running a regular HDD).
If you are on Windows, clean up the %TEMP% folder regularly and keep the disk neat using the defragmentation tool.
Click Start>Run>enter %temp% , wait for the files to load and select all, hit Shift+DEL to remove them permanently.
For the defrag tool, you can use either the defrag /? command from the command line or right-click the drive, click Properties > Tools > Defragmentation>Defragment Now
Other than that it requires deeper analysis to find performance bottleneck.

Very slow to boot, even on an external drive

A friend's 15" MacBook Pro, quad core i7,(older, not sure of the exact model) very slow to boot, and boots with the progress bar, then when you try to log in, it goes back to the login page. Often it will not start. Starts after resetting SMC. Reset PRAM. Booted to the recovery disk, ran repair disk on drive, no errors, tried to run repair on the volume and the MBP shut down. Tried booting to an external drive and it boots to an empty desktop with a finder window like an extended desktop.Tried AHT, only the usual battery sensor error, 4SNS/1/40000000 TB3T-128.000. ran extended test, same thing, only the one error.
So, how to back up this MB Pro before I try an erase and install. (short of removing the drive) It would seem to be a hardware error, but always want to try an erase and install. Any ideas or troubleshooting suggestions?

Mike -- thanks for your input. I guess Windows is just a worrisome thing for us Mac guys. Part of what always gets me is unknown code that goes into Windows. I did a Google the other day to see if I could get a feel for the "roots" of the upcoming Vista.
Who knows what Vista is really based on -- a modification of NT that was in part based on DOS and VMS? From my limited experience, I am not sure there is enough shelf space to hold the manuals to run VMS successfully. Of course, why worry; Boot Camp and other things will change before Vista gets here.
The bottom line is that I will use all the Windows security fixes.

I disabled IPv6. Still very slow.
To get in Safe Mode, I clicked Firefox/Help/Restart with add-ons disabled. I suspect this was the wrong thing to do because “All add-ons have been disabled by safe mode.
Actually, I did not see any opportunity to click a RESET button on the Safe Mode start window.
When I first entered the above question, I think I had an opportunity to run some diagnostics. However, because my computer is so slow, I actually posted the question from another linux computer, so saw no need to run the diagnostics on that machine. How can I get back to those diagnostics

Best way to import a Camtasia .SWF File?

I recently created a screen tutorial (as an .swf file) using
Camtasia Studio 5 and would like to import the .swf I created into
a topic of a Flash Web project I'm working on. I tried putting the
.swf on in an .htm but RoboHelp crashes. It doesn't crash with
other .swf files, but on this one it does.
The file plays fine if I double-click on the .swf inside
Windows Explorer, so it seems a problem with RoboHelp.
Now, I can get the video to work inside the project if I copy
the .swf file, the .js file, and the swf's .htm file manually copy
the project folder. If I preveiw it CTRL + W at this point it
works. If I build the project, the .swf and .htm (because I copied
them manually) don't get included into the single source layout
folder. I can probably add them manually there too and then
publish, but there has to be a better way.
Anyone have any success with importing Camtasia .swf files
into RH7 and could maybe give me some pointers so i don't have to
manually copy files everywhere?

You probably simply need to add all the related files to your
Baggage Files folder.
Note that if your output is a .CHM file, I believe that
Camtasia files have a problem with running inside a .CHM. Even if
you add all the files.

Importing xml driven swf file -- is it asking for too much?

I want to import an ActionScript3 / xml driven swf file into Catalist, but it only imports the swf file.
I have placed all the external images and the xml file that calls them into the same folder as the swf and the catalist files, but the playback still does not work. It shows error messages when trying to run. Copying the files to Assets/ Media or Images folders also makes no difference...There is no way in Catalyst to reconnect the xml to the swf either...
Why can't Flash and Catalyst be more friendly? Will there be a better connectivity in the final version?

There are several reasons why this wouldn't work, especially during preview. I'd like to ask you a couple questions and have you try a couple things.
1. What file path are you saving your project to, and what location did you copy the XML and image files to?
2. Did you try publishing your project, and copying your additional files to the published locations?
3. Did you try the same steps as above, only using the deploy-to-web version posted on your server? You would load the application by going to your web browser and typing something like: http://yourserverhere.com/.../deploy-to-web/Main.html.
Let me know if any of those work. Because Catalyst cleans the space where preview files are kept, it would be difficult to have your scenario work during preview. However, you could probably get it to work in a published version.

How to import a flash swf file in premier. Without loosing the animation of the movie symbols.

example : If its a star that spins, and goes from left to right.
When I put the swf file in premier.. the star only goes from left to right.. without the spin...
(the spin was an animation made inside the movie symbol of the star)

Microsoft excel 2013 stops working and getting very slow when I work in one file

I am using windows 8.1 pro in my office and I have excel 2013,
When I'm working on excel generally there is no problem, but I have an excel file which I work on in it's too slow and stops working, I have also tried to open the same file in another computer which is having the same problem.
while I was using Office 2010 it was working very fine, I can also share my file with you if you want in order to be checked and resolved.

You can share the file with us by sending it to GBSD TN Office Information Collection [email protected] Be sure that you have the private information hidden.
Meanwhile, since it works fine in Office 2010, we can try to open the file in Excel 2010, then go to File > Options > Formulas, check if you have enabled iterative calculation. If so, uncheck the check box and switch the workbook calculation to Manually.
Then, save the changes and then open the modified excel using Excel 2013 to see the result.

Hi guys, I wanted to report that updating your iPod touch 4th generation to iOS 6.1.6 will surely fix some security flaws, whi8le it will make your device super slow. It's frustrating. The battery on moderate / airplane usageisedlast almost 5 hours before it turns off completely and now it barely does 4! On iOS 6.1.5 it wasn't fast at all but yet acceptable. Lots of people tell that the fastest APt***s iOS 6 version (iOS 6.1.3, 6.1.4, 6.1.5 and 6.1.6) is iOS 6.1.5...
It's getting very frustrating, expecially in terms of battery life. Come on, this iPod touch is ony one year old and it came on iOS 6.0.1, so it was new, also ensured with online verification tools! I regret everything about updating.

Everybody will tell me to erase my iPod. Well, I did it countless times. This time I even did a DFU restore thinking iOS 6.1.6 was better, while it wasn't. And there is no going back, if not putting your device into a stupid state in which you have to plug it in to your computer each time you want to turn it on. This update ruined my iPod.

Lol… my device is only one year old and I'm having problems since my warranty expired… this seems so suspicious… I'm not even sure if my next product will be traded Apple. More than unsure, it's very very likely. The first time in a 4 years Apple user experience that DFU didn't solve my software based problems. I would return to iOS 4 not if it was just for me.

IMac 20" was running very slow (could not even scroll without the spinning beach ball of death), The computer was operating on OSX 10.5. After a lot of attempts of diagnostic attempts, have resorted to an erase and reinstall. says it will take 60 hours!

Working on my friends iMac 20" computer. It is 2.66 ghz, and was running 4mb of ram when the computer started acting up on OSX 10.5.
When I was called over the computer was so slow that I could not even scroll without getting the beach ball of death. I checked the activities moniter, and found an HP application was taking up 46% of the CPU. We attempted to go in and uninstall all of the HP applications, but the computer ended up freezing. Ended up doing a hard shut down, and decided to run disk utilities. Repaired both Permissions, and Disk. Restarted... no difference. Thought of restoring the computer to when it was working fine via Time machine in disk utility mode... failed. Finally resorted to deleting the hard drive, reinstalling Tiger, and upgrading.
After what seemed like forever for the hard drive to erease, attempted to reinstall. Ended up taking almost an hour to verify the disk, and then announced, that it would take 58+ hours to install. After leaving it for 3 hours, the number was going up, and was not installing.
I then thought the problem would be the 2nd party ram. We replaced the paired 2mb's to give 4mb's with the origional paired 1mb's providing now 2 mb's. Attempted to reinstall osx. Same problem 60+ hours after 3 hours of letting it sit.
What to do now? Is it the logic board? Could it be a faulty hard drive? Should I attempt in firewire more from another computer? Do a 7 pass erase over the hard drive? Run Disk warrior?
If anyone could give some info on why this is so blessedly slow that would be great thanks!

Decided to try and chek out the hard drive more extensively. SMART, states that it is verified. After running Diskwarrior and repairing all of the disk and the permissions, and running a hardware test, everything seemed to be running fine.
Went back to disk utilities, checked disk and permissions again, verified. SMART states it is verified.
Attemping now to install Mac OSX 10.4.7 from the original install disk. I am currently attemting the basic install, no programs, nothing. It has been over an hour, It is 44% of installing the base system Part 1, announcing 5 hours and 53 minutes.
When I did erase the hard drive yes I selected to write over zeros once. I then erased a second time from Diskwarrior.

Very slow JTextArea updates even as separate thread

JDialog won't work for me. I need a JComponent that lets incremental display of content (like append method used in JTextArea).
Below is my example code that you can run and see what I am trying to do. In this example the lines generated by ping are very few. My application actually uses an exe file instead of ping command. The .exe generates few KB of output. I am trying to stream the output of this exe to JTextArea. I am sorry I am not able to provied the actual exe itself.
The example given below works well as the JTextArea gets filled as the output is printed on the command prompt window. It is because of limited resource consumption by ping command. This does not happen with my .exe file. The JTextArea is filled only after the .exe file stops executing. The few hundred lines printed by the .exe file appears suddenly instead of a continuous manner (Although the System.out.println continued to print the output on the command prompt console continuously like the ping example below). Thus there is a delay between the console output and JTextArea when using my exe file.

Very very slow r3load import

i am performing the import using R3load on oracle 10.2.0.2.0 databse which is on 4.5B before upgrade.
init.ora parameters are maintained as per OSS 936441
for 205GB database import is taking almost 13 hours which looks to be very high.
DB is on 12GB ram 64bit hardware.
please provide any tips.

I'm not sure how long it took to export your database but for import..
Following things to be analysed before import...
1.See how many R3load processes are running for import.The formula is 2 R3load processes per CPU can be configured.Make sure you leave atleast 20% of resources free to go smooth. Dont overload server this may result in more errors.
2.Also see if you can bump up the DB cache and DB writers.
3.I'm not sure you can use "PRIMARY KEY" in .TPL file or "-loadprocedure fast" while importing because this feature used in 700 version for fast import ...check with SAP. This really makes a difference in the import process.

We´re facing some problems when we import any transport order in our QAS (quality system)... It takes a very long time to finish the import process in this system! (We see the truck icon for a long time). We don´t understand yet what is the reason for this delay in importing process! Why this happens?

I checked another thing that I guess (because I read in other places that it is important for importing process)... I´m talking about Job RDDIMPDP (In our landscape we have three systems (DEV; QAS and PRD) and I checked if this job is released or not...):
- In DEV system:
Client 000 - Is not in released status, but instead it has a trigger SAP_TRIGGER_RDDIMPDP and I guess the job only runs after I certainly event event with job frequency (Event periodic).
Client 020 - It have the same definition as client 000.
- In QAS system:
Client 000 - Status: Released, with Job Frequency 5 Minute(s).
Client 020 - Released, with Job Frequency 5 Minute(s).
- In PRD system:
Client 000 - Is not in released status, but instead it has a trigger SAP_TRIGGER_RDDIMPDP and I guess the job only runs after I certainly event with job frequency (Event periodic).
Client 020 - It have the same definition as client 000... it doesn´t run since Setember 30.
Any problem here?!
