CPI-C calling a report with long report name

Hi there,
we are communicating to a SAP System with CPI-C.
My question:
How can I call a report with CPI-C which has a name with more than 8 characters?
(I am using SAP_CMLOGON2 of CPI-C SDK for C++)
I want to use namespaces and 8 Characters are too short for this.
Any Ideas?
Thx,
Andi

Hi Scott,
According to your description, you want to call the report which contains subreports in asp.net.
Based on my research, when we call the report which contains subreports in asp.net, we should attach a handler to the SubReportProcessing event of the report. For more information, please refer to the similar thread: Running
Reports SubReports and parameters from Asp.net. Besides, you could also refer to this
article to render the main report and sub report in ReportViewer control.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Qiuyun Yu

  • APD - error when activating, problem: 7.0 variable with long technical name

    Hello everybody!
I have got the following problem:
I created an APD, with one filter on 0calday using a variable. This variable was created on our own and works without any problems. It's a 7.0 variable with a long description "W_E_M_0CALDAY_WDLAS"
If I try to activate the APD I get an error message "Analysis Process Has Errors, Activation Is Not Possible" and "Variable W_E_M_0CALDAY_WDLAS does not exist actively". But this variable is active!
My colleague told me, that there seems to be a problem with long technical names of variables in APD. I tried to find a SAP note to this topic, but I didn't.
Had anyone else this problem? How was it solved? Or are there any SAP notes I didn't find?
    Thanks for your help!
    Bettina

In the meantime I copied the variable to a shorter name, but it still doesn't work. I tried it with a 3.x variable and a 7.0 variable. In the exit I first added an OR condition to the when-case, but this didn't also help. Afterwards I copied the whole coding in a separate when-clause.
Stil not successful. Factory calender is OK. The variables also work in a normal query but not in the APD - the result of the last workday is always '00000000'.
    Any ideas?
    Kind regards,
    Bettina

  • Selecting from a SQL Server 2005 with long column names ( 30 chars)

    Hi,
I was able to set up a db link from Oracle 11.2.0.1 to SQL Server 2005 using DG4ODBC.
My problem is that some column names in the Sql Server are longer than 30 chars and trying to select them gives me the ORA-00972: identifier is too long error.
If I omit these columns the select succeeds.
I know I can create a view in the sql server and query it instead of the original table, but I was wondering if there's a way to overcome it with sql.
    My select looks like this:
    select "good_column_name" from sometable@sqlserver_dblink -- this works
    select "good_column_name","very_long_column_name>30 chars" from sometable@sqlserver_dblink -- ORA-00972Thanks

I tried creating a view with shorter column names but selecting from the view still returns an error.

  • Problem with long path names?

I tried to unpack the PHP eclipse package to a folder named like the ZIP package (pdt-2.0.0GA_debugger-5.2.15.v20081217-all-in-one-win32). WinRAR stopped with an error message (something like "file name to long"). I was unable to delete the folder until I shortened the directory name. Extracting worked only with a short path name.
Did anybody experience something like this?
    Windows 7 x64 - Gigabyte EP-45-DS3 (Intel P45 chip set), 4GB RAM, ATI 4670

I never used the compressed folder option nor I'm sure I really understand what this feature is.I can browse "into" an archive, open it like a folder (is this the "compressed folder" feature?). I extracted the sub folder via drag and drop. The extraction was very slow, but it finished. When I tried to delete the folder, there was an error message stating that the content could not be saved to the trash because of long file names.
I repeated the test and initially created that awful long path which WinRAR was using (pdt-2.0.0GA_debugger-5.2.15.v20081217-all-in-one-win32) and extracted the archives content into that folder. This time extraction stopped with error message "0x80010135: path too long".
All if seen so far seems to indicate that there's a max_path problem with Explorer (only x64 version?) and system parts based on it (like wastebasket), not only a problem with WinRAR.

  • Can't view files with long file names?

Hi, Im using Mac OSX 10.3.9 and I have a problem viewing files on a server that have long file names (i.e over about 20 characters) they do not show up on my mac but when viewed on a PC computer they are all there. Strange thing is though I have another mac on the same network running exactly the same operating system and version and files with long name can be viewed on that system ?? it is some simple preference does anybody know? Any help would be much appreciated. thank you.

Hi, I tried accessing a test file that I have made up with a long name through a browser and through FTP and cannot see it on either one. I can however see it on the other Mac that I have access to that is running the same OS and version etc... and also this file can been viewed on the PC's that are around me....

  • Cant download pdf files with long file names??

Why in windows mobile wont it let me open/download pdf links th have long file names...works fine on desktop....just a mobile issue??? Have Lumia 930...windows mob 8.1

Personally, I've not heard of this but maybe WP doesn't handle long names as well as Windows - what actually happens when you try? Is there an error message or does the download just fail silently?

  • Strange behavior in BI Publisher with long column names from BI Answers

    Hello all!
I have created a BI Answers request with few calculated columns in form of
    case when <condition> then <value if true> else <value if false> end
Then in BI Publisher Desktop designed a report ttemplate based on saved BI Answers request and noticed that for calculated columns their names look strange:
    CASEWHEN_<condition>THEN...ELSE..._...END__
Some of the column names are about 100 characters long.
After running the report from Word found that for these "long length named columns" there's no data in the output.
Do someone else experience the same? Any workarounds?
    Regards,
    mr.maverick

This is because the length for the formula is restricted in publisher. you have to either reduce the size of the column name in answers or change the formula. another workaround is completely pasting the formula directly in the word template instead of placing the formula inside the form field. you can add maximum of 300 characters i guess. you can edit the formula for the form field in the form field options formuals menu.

  • In EP, call R3 transaction with dynamic variant name

    Hello
I know that I can call a R3 transaction with a dedicated variant thanks to the process below:
    Create a transaction iview , Tcode = "START_REPORT"
In application parameters pass these values separated by '&' sign.
    D_SREPOVARI-REPORT - your report
    D_SREPOVARI-VARIANT - your saved variant.
choose skip inital screen in the parameters.
But do you have a tip to call a different variant for every user.
For example, I have users "1111" and "2222". In R3 I have created the variant "1111" and "2222" for a transaction.
In EP, I would like that when I call this transaction connected as "1111", the variant "1111" is used, and when I'm logged as "2222", the variant "2222" is used.
Do you know how I can do that ?
    Thank you !

    Hello,
where is the information which user has to call which variant stored? If it's in R/3 then you can write an wrapper report which is called from the Portal, adds the Variant information and then calls the original report.
    Regards
    Gregor

Ugh.  There are basically three people here, who show up repeatedly and relentlessly, always eager to explain that it wasn't Adobe's fault at first.  (FTC regulations require them to disclose that they're compensated by Adobe.)  I'm sure that even the actual authors of these applications don't like that first line of defense as it ultimately makes Adobe look bad, diluting useful feedback.  Yes, we also file bug reports and yes, this bug was reported several times ever since at least CS5.  Also, no reasonable user is too stubborn to shorten source file names, and that bug isn't the real issue -- it's that Adobe's applications (like this Encore example) simply freak out and crash over a well-known, clearly identified bug and then give no guidance as to what happened, or how to resolve it.  So Adobe customers spend hours trying to find the answer -- around the distractions of those three guys -- and increasingly lose faith in the Creative Suite.
Stan, thanks for a concrete question that could lead to diagnosis.  The file name that caused Encore to crash at the transcoding stage was not too far into the directories on my media drive, and named:  "KIMIKO ISHIZAKA - Goldberg Variations BWV 988 - 16 - Variatio 15 a 1 Clav. Canone alla Quinta__44k-16b (with leading silence).wav"  Once I halved the length of the filename (notably, while leaving in the spaces and dashes and underscores), it was smooth sailing.  So, you could simply rename any of your audio files to that, import the asset, and try to transcode at final output to see what happens.  Will be curious to know what you find, thanks!

  • Call a function with variable function name

    Hey guys,
I have a func_table which maintains function names (each one makes reference to a dynamically generated stored function)
    I need to make a procedure that calls the functions in that table one by one using its name retrieved from SELECT func_name FROM func_table;
    Thanks

That dynamic code is 99% of the time wrong. That dynamic code opens securities hole for code injection. That dynamic code often results in severe performance penalties as the coder is clueless about what the Oracle Shared Pool is about. And so on...
As for a basic procedure template to do this - assuming all functions get the same parameter as input and that all functions returns the same data type:
create or replace procedure FooBarFunctions( paramVal number ) is
.. variables and types and cursor definitions..
    begin
      for c in (
        select function_name from my_fubar_functions order by function_order
      ) loop
          plsqlBlock := 'begin :result := '||c.function_name||'( param => :p ); end;';
          execute immediate plsqlBlock using out funcResult, in paramVal;
.. do something with funcResult ..
      end loop;
      .. more code..
    end;
    {code}
Looks not like a sensible approach though - and begs for justification as to why this approach is needed. What justification do you have?

  • Reader not showing pdf with long file names in IE8 for standard user

    Hi,
I have this problem for standard users, that is, not Admin level.  Admin level users have no problems.
If a web site opens up a pdf file with java, usually in a new window, and the file name is very long (I haven't figured out how long, but visually long) then the reader plug-in won't work and opens a blank page.  If the file name is small then there is no problem, and reader opens the pdf without problem.
Interestingly, if I edit the document name (say for example the link has something on the end like "&Doc_Type=Statement" which is obviously not part of the document name but part of the SQL used to find the document by the web page) then reader will open the file no problem.
Again, this doesn't happen for Administrative level users.
Any ideas on how to fix?

I'll crosspost to the reader forum.
Yes, reader works in all other situations.

  • Is it possible to call a function with the same name from 2 different dll's at the same time.

I'm trying to call a function ( F ) form 2 different libraries ( A.dll and B.dll ) at the same time. The first lib loaded determines the function F. A->F and B->F have same interface and name but different implementation.

    Hi,
I tried it with two dll's, both with the same interface, and at the same
time, in the same VI. The popups even appear at the same time.
But now I understand the problem... Both dll's are created by LabVIEW! If
they are not (or one is not, and the other is), this is no problem.
And VI's in memory cannot have the same name. LabVIEW doesn't care if VI's
are in a dll or not.
This might not help, but if you want to make some sort of "plug in" system,
you might consider using llb's. By loading VI's dynamically, you can select
the path from which they are loaded. You must unload (close all references)
one before the loading the other, or the same problem will occur. If you go
this way, I consider a different approach. Make on
e library (or even a dll)
that has the interface you like, this is the "loader". Now make several
"plug in"'s, with the same interfaces. The name of each function in a plug
in is a concatenation of the library name and the function name. The loader
has one extra function, that loads (and unloads, when done) references to
all desired libraries to use (the names of the functions can be figured out
easily). All that the loader functions do is dynamically call the library
functions. You can use a call by reference node for this (you can use the
connector pane or the loader vi, since the interface must be the same!).
If you go this way, I guess the loader library can be converted to a dll...
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with long column names

I'm trying to fetch rows via pl/sql from an Access db table that has long(over 30 characters) column names. I've tried using pass-through sql but it still returns generic ODBC error. Is there a way to get this to work without changing column names in table?

    Andy,
Oracle does have a restriction in column name size but if you are using pass-through this should not come into play.
It may be a restriction of the ODBC driver or a bug. Please take a look at the ODBC driver trace file.
