CPU usage is 98% when running my exe labview program

I have made an executable and installer for my labview program. When I install and run, the program uses a lot of cpu - almost 100%, even when the program is not computing. I recently changed over to LVIEW 8.2 from LVIEW 7.1. I had none of these issues with 7.1.
Programatically, I use a state machine to continuously execute the program. I also use a couple of while loops as slaves to plot the results processed in the main loop. In all while loops I have a 'Wait' until next ms' vi to prevent the program using all the cpu, but it doesnt seem to be helping in LVIEW 8.2. This is somewhat strange.
Can someone suggest what may be happening? and are there any methods that I can use to reduce cpu usage of my program?

It will be impossible to really troubleshoot this without a lot of additional infomation.
Is the CPU usage only high in the built application, or is it also high if you run the same program in the 8.2 development environment?
Was the 7.1 program exactly the same, or did you make any modifications since?
Are you running 8.20 or did you upgrade to 8.2.1?
What does the program actually do? Does it interact with DAQ hardware? File I/O?
What does the program do when it is "computing"? Is the CPU use even higher then?
Is there also a wait statement in the main while loop?
What is your OS (windows, linux, mac, etc.)
Is your computer reasonable for the task. Enough RAM, etc.
How do the various loops communicate with each other? (queues, local-, global-, shared- variables, etc.)
How much data is exchanged between the loops? At what rate?
Do you use fixed or variable size arrays?
Can you give us a more detailed overview of the code?
How is the memory usage?
have you done any profiling?

Missing function when running a .exe labview program

everyone,
I have used
a subvi taken from the RoboIO library ( http://www.roboard.com/labview/Labview_RoBoIOv15b.zip) to make up a program in order to run a
.exe version of it on another computer that doesn’t have Labview (just Run Time Engine
SP1 is installed).
The .exe
works fine on the Labview computer (after adding to the Build/Data directory the
RoboIO.dll, RoboIOv15b, winIo and WInIO.dll files.). I have no conflict message
when opening the Project explorer manager dependancies.
When I
launch the .exe on the second computer I get a message saying it can't find the
function I was talking about at the beginning of my post. (running another .exe without
this function works fine on this second computer)
It’s the
first time I am using a .exe on a "non-labview computer", so I must be doing something
wrong : not creating correctly the .exe program
Would anybody
have an idea what could be the problem?

To deploy an application in a computer that doesn't have LabVIEW you could create an instaler than an exe.
You can find how to create an instaler in the LabVIEW help.

CPU usage goes 99% when running program

Hi everyone.
I have:
- A JFrame, which acts as the main frame
- A JPanel which is added to the JFrame
- this JPanel draws output with paintComponent based on changes in 'model' part
- this JPanel has a mouseListener which listens to mouse clicks, and sends to 'model' for calculation
When my program is launched, the CPU usage goes to 99%. I checked, and found out that JPanel's paintComponent is constantly being called (i put a System.out.println to check).
Why is it constantly being called? I thought paintComponent is called only when repaint( ) is called or when minimized or something is done.
I don't need to keep on repainting, i'll call it myself after my 'model' finishes calculation.
p/s i am using the model-view-controller pattern
Can anyone tell me how to stop it from keep repainting?

I thought paintComponent is called only when repaint( ) is called or when minimized or something is done.Correct. Which means your code has introduced an infinite loop. So start debugging because we have no idea what your code looks like.

High CPU usage - Rapid Battery Drain - Running HOT

Looking for help.. PLEASE!
Z10 - Model STL100-3 Software release 10.2.1.2179
Symptoms;
Occasionally, and for no apparent reason, I notice my Z10 getting hot in my pocket. I run the device monitor App and see a very high CPU usage, which consequently drains the batter very quickly.
I've tried all the solutions from every support group thread and blog. And I mean ALL!
Pulling the battery
Replaced the battery
Removed the SIM
Deleted G Mail
Removed all 3rd party Apps (2)
Stopped email sync
Stopped calendar sync
Turned off all radio
Turned Off Wi-Fi
Let it sit for hours, even days to let it finish doing whatever its trying to do
Etc Etc Etc.
Finally, I called BB support, they wanted $50 to talk to someone. I told them the issue, they said the device is bad and must be replaced. I said its software related!! They said.. no, its a hardware issue. Device is under warranty and they want me to just go get a new one. I don't want a new one, I want a fix! Stop the waste of BB $
Temporary solution
Eventually, I decided I would do a restore, back to the factory settings, and here's when I found something
I run BB Link, connect the device, do a back-up... and LOW AND BEHOLD.. this fixes the high CPU usage and the device runs great, very cool, low cpu and extremely long battery life.
Sadly! .. this problem reoccurs, after a few days, sometimes after a couple of weeks and just out of the blue.
I can force this fault to occur, simply by doing a restart of the device. Sure enough, it will run hot, use all the cpu and I will have to do a back-up to get it to settle down again. I've tried to wait for the so called 'indexing' to finish, but it never stops running with high cpu and doesn't help.
Can any one tell me whats happening and how to make this a permanent fix?
There are hundreds if not thousands of people having very similar issues, and many different methods to fix it. Its my belief that there is an underlying bigger problem that relates to all these differing fixes, but as yet.. I cant find it and none of these fixes work for me. For now... I will keep doing the occasional back-up and hope I get a response that can help.

@Curve8530 .....as much a s your discovery is appreciated, I hardly believe that most people will actually dismantle their phone to remove the paste and replace with arctic silver. Besides, what you are doing is not a fix for the actual problem....
In most cases, this heat is associated with apps using the CPU resources beyond the normal limits.
As an easy fix, finding and removing the app(s) in question followed by a reboot, solves the issue. In some cases an OS reload is necessary.... but under no circumstances I would even remotely suggest to any member to dismantle their phone and do what you did...

Flash causing abnormally high CPU usage and overheating when browsing internet

Hello,
Flash Player (Safari Internet plug-in) spikes to 110-120% of my CPU usage while browsing the internet. This also causes my computer to overheat. (This also occurs when using Firefox)
I am running OSX 10.8.4 and I am using Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.94
I have tried uninstalling through the Adobe uninstaller and resetting Safari and my computer.
I contacted apple care and they said it was a problem with Adobe and I needed to contact you guys.

High CPU usage without any application running on the laptop

Hi ,
I saw some earlier posts as well but I am not sure if anything is helping me. I have a HP Pavilian Dv6. Its with me for now since 2009 or so. It was all running very well till last Nov - Dec 2013 timeframe. I had many bulky work done on the laptp like video cutting editing , along with audio edits , fairly well. I used it mostly for videos and no games though.
Since Nov - Dec 2014, all the videos started slowing down, extremely jerky, and not catching up with the audio. Slowly the problem became worse . After 10 mins of video it just stopped and hanged. It did it with every site and any format of video including videos on my C Drive. I earlier tried a lot of things, playing around with flash player thinking that's the culprit. Did not help. Browsers changed, Mozilla, internet explorer , Chrome, everything no change. Then till around last week, I tried tested, uninstalled a lot of programs, also did Microsoft system restore and seen , the CPU continously behaved reaching to its 100% peak and the videos getting shot down. Just no change. Last week , I got desperate and finally reformatted my hard drive and did a factory restore on the laptop. IT DID NOT HELP !! The laptop behaved really like a good puppy for a few days , Youtube and what not and again since yesterday it has been shot down ! No videos will run. What's more even a DVD video is not running , nothing on a browser a simple DVD player DVD play is not running. Jerky videos and hanging issues.
Everything boils dows to 100% CPU usage. Even if I am closing all my applications , it shows 'system' as the process using 90-100% CPU. Without any browser or even a notepad option open. There is also a prgram 'dwm' which eats up the next big slot of CPU.
I am really tired of this and not able to enjoy anything. Please suggest what could be the issue here and how can it be helped?

How to watch CPU usage of a long running process?

Hi Gurus,
I have a daemon type process that handles transactions. The transactions typically completes in less than a second. I would like to find out the CPU usage of the transactions. I am looking for something that allow me to watch the CPU usage of a process so that I can look for a spike when the transaction happens.
Regular monitoring tools do not go down to sub-second granularity and cannot track specific process. Is there any Dtrace script for the job?

I am a newbie with dtrace, but I think that this might work.
Start the script with script.d -c "demon args"

Show front panels of sub VIs when running a EXE (build application)

I've created a exe file and it works fine. However, it only shows the front panel of main VI and I can not open sub VIs (it looks like they are all hidden). I know it can be done by creating a library file along with this exe file, but that's not what I want. I want to create a single exe file that shows several front panels, and that can be run with run time engine. Is there any way to show front panels of sub VIs by running a exe file?

In the development mode, how are you displaying the front panels? Did you right click on the subVI and select SubVI Node Setup and choose 'Show Font Panel when called/Close afterwards if originallly closed' or did you choose the same options from VI Properties for each subVI. If the second, then the app builder will automatically retain the front panels of the subVI. If you chose the first option or if you are using VI Server to open a front panel, then the default setting in the app builder is to remove the front panels. You would then have to go the VI Setting tab in app builder and edit the settings.

My CPU usage upto 99% when trying to create admin acount in Magento.

It has been almost 2 days by now i have been trying to install Magento in MAMP server.
Majento installs database tables sucessfully then when trying to create a admin account for Magento it stucks ... and hungs up the browser..
I am using MAMP , PHP 5.3.5 safari web browser and when see the activity monitor i found httpd --99% cpu usage.
Why is this happening?
Can't i install Magento in Macbook Pro? is this the limitation on MAC?
I have lost 2 days by now...Not found any solution...
Is Windows the solution Now?

Premiere Pro CS6 CPU Usage is Low when Encoding

Im haveing some issues when encoding H.264, well not issues but my cpu is not being utlized to its full potencial.
u have a 3930K overclocked to 4.8Ghz, and when im encoding the cpu usage is rarely above 60% on some cores but most cores jump upp and down from 40% to 0%, my scratch disc is 2 Force 3 GT in Raid 0 so over 1000MBs read and write speed, there shuldnt be an issue there, have 32gb of 1866mhz ram, and 2 GTX 670 FTW GFX cards,
My encoding settings are:
Source: 1920x1080 (squarepixels) 60fps, Progressive (Uncompressed AVI)
Output: 1920x1080 (squarepixels) 30fps, Progressive VBR 2 pass, Target 50mbps, Max 51mbps
Are there any settings to how much power Premiere uses or?

Have tried removing the one 670, there is no difference, the project files are stored on another sett of Force 3 GT discs, so im reading for one raid 0 and writing to another, have done loads of testing on the disks and their preformance both synthetic and real read and write tests, and they perform exeptional, i dont in a million miles see how conventional disks could help. they just arent the bottle neck, now the last thing you said im not shure what you are hinting at with tuned your system ? can you elaborate,.. Application Builder 7.1: problem when running an EXE

I have developped a VI on a computer with LabView 7.1. The VI uses an USB 6008 (with DAQmx base 1.4 drivers.) to measure signals. It perfectly works. Now I've spent a lot of trying to put the system on a computer that doesn't have LabView installed.
-I first installed the USB 6008 drivers on the computer
-Then I made an installer with the application builder (including the run-time engine)
-Once the application is installed on the new environnement, I just keep on having error messages when running it.
-first it doesnt find all the DLL, you have to copy them from the PC with LabView in C:\windows\system32\. Done.
-then I get this big dialog box with a listing of sub-Vi missing, such as: Sub-VI Create Task.vi missing in VI Instance 1 6ProgName.v1
I've looked into the LLB file created with the builder: all these sub-VI are here!! Why won't it work?
What can I do to solve this?? Thanks for your help.

for the missing dll: what are those dll's? you may need to install additional run-time packages, or check some more component in the Advanced Installer Settings form, depending on your application.
Now for the main problem: are you calling vi's dynamically from an external LLB? in many cases when a file is not found from the built application, it's a path problem. In fact, if a vi path is e.g. c:\mysourcedir\myvi.vi, when the EXE is built the path will be something like c:\myexedir\myexe.exe\myvi.vy. You see that there is an additional Strip Path you need to do if you are getting the current path from a vi path.
What I said can be relevant or not depending on the vi calling techinique you are using. A suggestion is to execute the built EXE on the development computer (where all components are present) to check if the problem is still there.

Error A12E1 when running CCPLauncher.exe

We need to package Indesign with Creative Cloud Packager but it's stops with erro A12E1.
I try the steps in A12E1 error installing Creative Cloud products | CC but no success.
I also try to run CCPLauncher on a new clean computer.
Both computers running Windows 7 64 bit and a CCPLauncher from 2014-01-30 (version 1.0.0.52)
All results from Google seems to end in the link above. Any other solutions?

I am also having this issue trying to run CCPLauncher.exe on Windows Server 2008 R2 so I can setup an AUSST.
I too have also exhausted the steps in the above link help page.

Macbook Pro mid 2012 starting to lag when running more than one program.

Firstly mah specs :
Retina, Mid 2012
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
8gb 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M / Intel HD 4000
OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)
So, i bought this macbook about a year and a month ago and since i bought it everything has run fine, it has always been fast and smooth, until around 2 months ago when it started getting a little laggy in handling more than one program being open. Before this i was able to run Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Second Life and Chrome all at once and recieved no speed decrease what so ever. So i figured that it must just have been a little clogged up maybe, honestly wasnt sure but tried clearing cache, tried freeing up memory with some of the mac memory management tools from the App Store and non of these worked so in the end i backed up what was important and wiped the HD and re installed the OS. Annoyingly i am still having problems, if i have Photoshop open and i am surfing chrome it lags on scrolling web pages or loading links. If i have Second Life open i seem to lag with more than 3 players around me quite badly, even if i put Second Life onto its lowest Graphic Settings i still lag where as before i had this issue i could run it on its highest Graphic Settings and recieve little to no lag what so ever. This happens for most programs that used to run smoothly, if i now open Cinema 4D and try anything else.....the system slows down.
I COULD take this to the apple store and genuis bar and ask them to have a look at it HOWEVER i am back at Uni in 2 weeks and i need the macbook for my studies as i am currently working on a summer project and need it for research, can any of you Mac Wonders out there suggest anything else for me to try. I have checked the HD and it says its not failing and is verified and found no issues with the partition.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

I cannot uninstall Firefox, either through Control Panel Add/Remove or by running helper.exe from Program Files.

Nothing happens when I click on REMOVE for Mozilla Firefox from the Add/Remove screen of Control Panel. I then tried to run helper.exe from the Mozilla Firefox folder in Program Files, but that wouldn't run either. Any suggestions?

unistalled foxtab, however the window saying "want to add this pers. button to toolbar" no matter what I do I can't get it off , close firefox, remove or delete or get a new firefox download to replace it in the harddrive etc. Its locked up firefox and I have to use safari to access the web. how do I get this circular message etc. off ?
