CQ 5.3(websphere) to CQ5.6(jboss5.1) Migration Approch

We are on CQ5.3 in WebSphare Env now we would like to migrate it to CQ5.6 and Jboss 5.1.
Brief about env
CQ Version: 5.3
OS: Linux
Component: 100+
Templates: 10+
Data size: 20GB
No of sites: 20+
Could you please suggest what the best approach to do this is?
Option 1:  In-place Upgrade –
Migrate CQ 5.3 to Jboss
Run the upgrade it to CQ5.5. On Jboss 5.3 – Not sure we can do this.
Option 2: package manager.
Create the package of components and content of CQ5.3 and move it to 5.6 env.
Please let me know if there is any other option and your views on above approach. I think Option 2 will be more reliable but require scripts to move 20GB content.
I have successfully migrated components and templates to 5.6 env without any issues. Looks like there is not much change in CQ Api’s .
Thanks,
Manish

Pawan-
You'd need to talk to your account manager to figure out the license implications. You shouldn't ask for legal advice on a public forum
Leaving the license issue aside, this certainly wouldn't be a supported configuration.
Which particular libraries are you referring to? The simulator?

  • Need help in using Runtime class

    Hi all,
I am facing problem with JRE versions of websphere and SUN JRE. Let me explain my problem.
We have an application working fine in websphere, Now my organization wants to migrate this app to websphere. This application downloads some set of jar files to the client side when the user hits the server with some url. These jar files starts th swing based application in the client side , at the same it will try to communicate with EJB's deployed in the server(Now websphere) to get the data for menus and trees in the swing application. Because of different JRE in the websphere commucation problems like class cast exception are happening. Now we are downloading the the Websphere JRE to the client side and trying to start the application with the downloaded JRE(Even it is not required in case of weblogic in the exiting application also they are downloading the sun JRE). Here the problem starts for me. The execute method of Process class is not able to detect the main class. The waitFor method is returning non zero value. Here is my method.

  • Can I list all invalid *internal* links within a site?

    Hi,
we are automatically migrating content from LiveLink WCMS to CQ5. After the migration process there will be a small number of links (in text) which point to resources (mostly PDF) but contain errors. We would like to automatically determine all occurences of invalid internal links and list them for manual correction.
But there seems to be only the external link checker, which produces a list (and we need internal links to be checked).
And the usual internal link check seems to be active only during page authoring (and does not produce lists across all pages).
Is there such a thing (or can it be easily built) like an internal link checker which crawls the whole site?
    Thanks for any help.
    Henning

    Hi Henning,
AFAIK out of the box there is no such option. You need to build one.
    Thanks,
    Sham

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 side-by-side CRSXIR2 install fails.

Same symptoms as indicated in the first post here - https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18373470&messageID=6253019
Install of CRS2008 was flawless on a clean VM copy of our development server.  So when the go ahead was given to do further testing on our dev server, we went ahead and installed CRS2008 as a side-by-side installation of our CRSXI R2 SP3 (v 11.5.9.1076).  CRSXI installation runs on Websphere, but in CRS2008 we are migrating to Tomcat.  All install ports were set differently than our current XI installation.  Install completed just fine, but we were unable to access the CMC.  CCM indicated at first TOMCAT and SIA were up and running.  Our XI server still works fine.  I attempted to uninstall CRS2008 and reinstall, however, the uninstall errored out and "rolled back" the uninstallation.
Now CCM is blank and repair of CRS2008 fails.  Is there a way to manually uninstall CRS2008 so that we can move forward with our upgrade via fresh install?

    Hi
do you install using a user, who is member of the local administrators group?

I don't know that both these errors are the same problem, or whether they
are both different symptoms of another problem.
In addition when I was migrating the metadata, I had problems with the
Apache libraries, which caused a failure when I ran the "migrate-meta"
task. I ended up replacing the two files (xalan.jar and xercesImpl.jar)
that were packaged with Kodo3 with ones from our previous Kodo install and
the migrate worked fine. Is there a problem with these files?

    Marc
I gave the error for the jar file in my second post.....
"BUILD FAILED: java.lang.VerifyError: field not type compatible (class:
    org/apache/xerces/parsers/IntegratedParserConfiguration method:
    configurePipeline()V) at pc: 4"
I thought that it was just the xalan.jar that was upsetting the process
but it does in fact seem to be both that, and the "xercesImpl.jar".
On the enhancer I have got it to work by re-building without the enhancer
addded to the build. Then enhancing each project individually using the
    ant task.
I am still unable however to add the enhancer to the build using the
plugin and then re-build all. this will return me the same
jdoGetManagedFieldCount error, even if I have re-built without the
    enhancer previously.
This all seems a little awkward, so if there is something I can do to get
the build to work with the plugin, and using the enhancer, that would be
    ideal.

The build problems sound to me like some of your persistent classes
have been recompiled, but others have not. Have you tried completely
rebuilding all the classes in your project before doing any enhancement?

We did upgrade the version of xercesImpl.jar we ship with 3.0, but I
would be surprised if this would cause problems. Can you post the
exception you get when you try to use the old jars?

the call to the method that fails is shown below:
    private Set dependentEvents = new HashSet();

The method that is being reported in the NoSuchMethodError is shown below.
    public BOSet(BusinessObject obj) {

The Business Object being passed into this method is the top level
abstract business object, and all persistable business objects extend this
    class.

  • Web services using OIM Client API.

    Hi All,
decided to try out some webservices talking to OIM via the client api. have a few questions.
is it better if the webservice app server and the OIM ejb app server are the same? i.e. weblogic.
I noticed in some of the code that configurationclient is using "web-client" rather than "Discovery.Coreserver" as the first param. what's the difference?
Im currently using tomcat5 and java5 with xfire. and I think tomcat is not liking the weblogic jar. I could swap out the app server but would like to keep using java5 and xfire if that's possible.
curious to hear abut other setups.
    Thanx.
    Fred

I have a couple of clients using web services to expose OIM APIs. The most common approaches is to either use Apache Axis or the web service module in Websphere.
Perhaps you should try migrating to Apache Axis if your application server doesn't like the Weblogic jars?
I personally like Axis but that is mostly because I have used Axis a couple of times.
    Best regards
    /M

  • Can not view 24 hours data in Websphere performance page

We configured EM 10.2.0.5 to monitor Websphere 6.1 on AIX.
Now we can see current data in the performance page.
But when we switch to 24 hours view, there is not any data shown in the page.
Does EM 10.2.0.5 support viewing Websphere historical data?

    This issue is solved.
The OMR parameter job_queue_processes is set to 0.
It should be 10 or above.

  • How can I find more information and tutorials on CQ5? Is there a way to download a trial?

I already have cloud services with adobe but I can't seem to find much on CQ5. As I'm starting a new job soon which uses CQ5, I'm in a bit of a rush to get up to speed!

That works, but it would be nice if we could just have a portion of the main window show that information all the time.  It seems that they have determined that this information isn't so important, at least not as important as it was in iPhoto...
    Thanks for the tip!

  • Session time out in Websphere Application Server

    Hi ,
I am using Websphere Application server 5.1 . I need to set the session time out for my web application. Actually, i edited the web.xml and set the value
    <session-config>
              <session-timeout>10</session-timeout>
</session-config>But when I am refreshing my jsp page, after 10-15 mts, i am able to get a valid page without any problem. Actually since the session time out is 10 mts , I should not get a valid page after 10 mts . I tried one more option for setting the session time out . I opened the admin console of my App server and set the session time out there too. But session not seems to be timing out after 10-15 mts. I am still able to get a valid jsp page. I have many session attributes in that page. So after 10 mts, i should not get a valid page.. I dont know, what's wrong in my configuration. If some body knows the answer please help me.
    thanks in advance.

So what you're trying to achieve is that the ui closes or becomes invalid if no action has been performed for a certain time? That should be easy enough, install a javax.swing.Timer somewhere in your application and set it to the time you desire. Whenever the user performs an action, invoke reset() on the timer (it's a fairly cheap operation). If the timer fires, you know the timeout occured.
You have to decide for yourself what you consider a 'user action' in this context. If you want the session to stay alive as long as the user is still doing something, just install an AWTEventListener, which can react to pretty much anything, mouse movement, keyboard input etc.

  • SSO to non-SAP java running on Websphere

    Hi,
I have an EP6 SP2 P5 and another java b2b app running on websphere app server and they are on different domains. I'm trying to figure out how to make sso to that app. There is  a guide on SDN written by Tim Mullé, Stephan Boecker "Enabling Single Sign-On from SAP J2EE Engine/EP to Non-SAP Java Applications" . I'm wondering if can make it work if I follow that guide and also the cross domain integration guide for sending cookies across domains?
    Regards
    Ahmet

The process described in the cross-domain document will be necessary in order to get the MYSAPSSO2 cookies to your non-SAP application. You cannot get your browser to send domain1.com cookies to a domain2.com server. Therefro it is necessary to provide an alternate pathway - in this case using http POST. Then the target of the POST on domain2 can handle the data and return a cookie in its own domain. At that point you can either create your own cookie for websphere to use, or you can simply re-issue the cookie in domain2.com. SAP provides some libraries that will enable the other application to validate the cookie.

  • USING SSO TO SECURE THE WEB APPLICATION RUNNING ON JBOSS/WEBSPHERE

We are using Oracle portal for all our applications. We have Oracle Application Server, portal, SSO and OID installed. Basically the user should login through
protal, and the authentication is done by SSO against OID. After the authentication, the user accesses the portal home page. From the home page, there are application links. By clicking these application links, the user should be able to access the applications. But these applications are running on JBoss and WebSphere. Is there any way that we can secure these applications
    by Oracle SSO?
I know that there is a plug-in (mod-osso) running on the Oracle Web Server to fulfill the tasks like directing the request to the single sign-on server,
authenticating, putting sso cookie into the session if authentication is successful. So the Oracle Web Server will take care of the authentication for all partner applications.
There is no such plug-in released for the web server of JBoss or WebSphere. Anybody has the experience or suggestion on how to solve our issue?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Have you imported the java certificate into R/3 backend system ? if so.
Then just go to backend system and check on sm50 for each applicaion instance of any error eg.
SM50-> Display files (ICON) as DB symbol with spect.(cntrlshiftF8)
You will get logon ticket details.

  • SSO between SAP EP and JAVA app on WebSphere Application Server 5.1

    Hi.  I have 2 questions.
I am implementing SAP EP6 and need to display content from a WebSphere JAVA application inside the portal.  The application is currently running on WAS 5.1.
    1. Does anyone have any sample code or documentation regarding how to pass the SAP logon ticket to WebSphere JAVA application to accomplish SSO when inside the portal?
    2. Does anyone have any sample code or documentation regarding how to pass the SAP logon ticket to WebSphere JAVA application to accomplish SSO when outside the SAP EP, but still within the same IE browser window where the SAP logon ticket exists?
Thanks for any feedback you could provide.

    Hello Kevin,
please look here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/nw/ibm/how to set up sso between sap enterprise portal and ibm websphere portal using tai.pdf
Regarding your second questions: as long as you did not log off from SAP EP your browser hosts the SAP Logon Ticket cookie (within its timeframe of validity which is typically a couple of hours). So if you access a non SAP application that accepts SAP logon ticket with your browser, you're authenticated.
Please note that the cookie based authentication only works withing the same DNS domain. So if your SAP EP is configured to issues the SAP logon ticket to "company.com" then your browser sends it only to servers in that domain.

    Michael

  • How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS

    Hi
I have read the article on SDN called "How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS", which is also the name of my posting.
The reason why I post this is that I've tried to follow the links in the PDF to get the file WebsphereEpSsoLib.zip but I get an error 403, which tells me that the file is not there.
Does anybody know where this file went or can somebody tell me an alternative place to get this file?
    Jacob

Please open the associated whitepaper, and you can find the download link to the .ZIP file on page 4.

    Hope that works!
